- "From the outside the hotel looks a little run down, however once you walk though the door you feel like you have been taken somewhere else. Very pleasant staff and overall feel. We stayed in a premium room, very clean and the bed was comfy. Also criticism would be that the shower ran out of the cubicle onto the floor, but easily sorted with towels. Also the chain lock on the main door had broke so we were only able to lock using the door lock, whereas I personally like that extra security- however these things did not ruin our stay. The bonus of free parking is partly why we choose this accommodation during our visit to Leeds. "

The space
Welcome to The Elephant & Castle in the centre of Wakefield, an almost 300 year old traditional inn that has recently been carefully restored to offer several boutique en-suite rooms above a traditional pub stocking some great cask ales and good wines at fantastic prices.

If you are travelling by train, the property is only a 5 minute walk from Westgate train station which can get you into Leeds in about 10 minutes and all the way to London in just over 2 hours.

If you are travelling by car, there is a pay and display car park to the rear of the property which makes it ideally located for contractors or travellers alike.

The rooms themselves are ensuite bedrooms with a super-king size bed that can be transformed into two single beds. The room features a good sized shower, a TV, blackout curtains, free WIFI and room amenities including tea and coffee, toiletries and a hairdryer.

The pub downstairs is well regarded by the people of Wakefield, having a great selection of drinks available and is a fantastic place to relax at the end of a day, with a pool table, dart board, Sky and BT sports, beer garden and traditional wood burning stove in winter.

If you want to experience what Wakefield has to offer then within a short distance you have the Theatre Royale, The Hepworth Art Gallery, Wakefield Cathedral along with a fantastic array of places to spend the evening.
