Warm days and cool nights, with endless blue water at your doorstep....come and enjoy life on beautiful Lake Ontario.
As evidenced by the now over 150! unanimous (5 star) reviews, this is NOT your typical cottage.
Located on 200 feet of lakefront with breathtaking views of both the sunrise and sunset from your private deck, this lovely one bedroom house is perfect for a romantic getaway for two, or for a small family seeking a lakeside vacation.
45 minutes from Rochester, Buffalo and Niagara Falls and right off the New York State Parkway, the location couldn't be more convenient. With cable TV, WiFi, public water, air conditioning and ample heat plus countless amenities, you'll be on vacation the moment you arrive.
Just as lovely in the spring and fall as it is in the summer, this location is the perfect spot for parents visiting students in Brockport, Rochester, Niagara or Buffalo. Lake Ontario turns a vibrant dark blue in the spring and fall and a walk among the changing foliage in Lakeside Park is simply spectacular. On chillier nights, our fire pit provides a cozy place for you to comfortably linger well past sunset. A large stack of fire wood and plenty of kindling are available for your use. Long summer evenings will amaze you with skies loaded with stars and sparkling fireflies, the likes of which can only be seen in the country.
The unit is all on one floor with an open floor plan, and includes a queen-size bed, a couch that converts into a second full sized bed, a full kitchen and living room, as well as a full bathroom with shower. A privacy screen is available to separate the bedroom area from the living room, if requested. The entire house has been completely remodeled, and is absolutely gorgeous inside.
The property borders on Lakeside Park, where you can enjoy miles of hiking along the breathtaking bluffs on the southern shore of Lake Ontario. A new 18 hole disc golf course is also available for your enjoyment.
In the area you will find several golf courses, fresh produce, a drive-in movie theater and wonderful restaurants. The house is nestled in a lakeside hamlet less than 15 minutes from the Erie Canal. Kayaking and canoeing opportunities along local creeks and waterways abound. You will find each nearby town loaded with unique shops, local landmarks and fascinating history. When you return back to the lake, you'll find the perfect location to relax and read that book you have been looking forward to. Most importantly, you'll have a chance to reconnect with nature and each other.
You'll have the most gorgeous view of the sunrise and sunset from your deck, surrounded by endless blue water. Come enjoy your own private paradise!
Remember, fall is one of the best seasons at the lake! September days are typically warm, but not hot- humidity is low, and the nights are cool. The lake is perfect for swimming, and delicious local produce is available in countless farm stands. October brings star filled skies, nights around the campfire, and the reds and golds of changing leaves.
Every month is beautiful in its own way, but September and October are particularly wonderful!
FAQs:
We get asked a few questions over and over, so I'll try and answer them here:
-Are the decks, hammock and firepit pictured just for the cabin rental, or are they shared with other people? They are all yours.
-Are linens provided? Yup! And everything is washed in HOT water- including all sheets, pillow shams, blankets and the comforter and the quilt on the back of the couch.
-What about dishes, and pots and pans? They're all there, as well as a coffee pot, and a toaster and a little blender, and just about anything else you may need. I will be happy to loan you something special if it's not already in the house.
-What about firewood? It's there, along with kindling and fire starters. And it's included with your stay.
-How do I get to the park? Its about a 500 foot walk from your front door, and it's free.
-Is there Lake access? Yes. There are steps down to the water right in front of the house. Those steps leads to a grassy area and the top of a breakwall. Built into the breakwall are big slabs of stone that give you steps down into the water. We swim here all the time. There's a giant rock you can swim to and dive off into about 6 -7 feet of water. We have life jackets and floating chairs in the shed behind the house for your use.
-Does the water drop off sharply? No, it's pretty gradual. The bottom of the lake is rocky though, so bring water shoes.
-Is there a boat launch nearby? You can drop a kayak in the lake (if the water is not too rough), right in front of the house. There are boat launches all over- the closest ones are at Point Breeze (where Oak Orchard Creek and Lake Ontario meet) or on Lake Alice (a small man-made lake created by a dam on Oak Orchard). Both are about 10-15 min away and both are free. There are a bunch of places to drop a kayak in the local creeks. I have a book with them all listed in the house.
-Where is the nearest sandy beach? Hamlin Beach State Park- about 15 min away on the NYS Parkway. It's a huge park with a great beach and nice trails to bike ride.
-Should I bring my bike? Definitely if you like to ride! There is a great path on the canal that you can ride and ride for miles. You can also ride into Lakeside Park. We also have bikes right in the shed you can use if you don't want to bring yours.
-Are there restaurants nearby? There are a bunch of them! I have a list in the house of the local restaurants, including their phone numbers. Most offer take-out. You'll find that getting your dinner to go, opening a nice bottle of wine and eating out on your front deck is just about the nicest way to spend your vacation. We do it all the time.
-Are there wineries nearby? Lots! Google Niagara Wine Trail and you'll see a bunch on both the NY and the Canadian side. Many are award winning wineries with great reviews.
-Are there breweries nearby? We have a ton of them in the area. I have many listed in the information book in the house, but Google 'breweries near me' when you get here because new ones are opening all the time.
-What can I do once I get there? Hmmmm Where to begin....You can go hiking or biking on the canal. You can gamble in Niagara Falls at the casino. You can swim in the lake. You can fish on the nearby creeks. You can golf at one of the many golf courses nearby. You can visit wineries. You can visit Niagara Falls. You can go antiquing. You can go to the Drive-In in Lockport, and go through a canal lock. You can visit the most enchanting small towns along the canal, with their amazing restaurants and shops. You can visit Rochester or Buffalo, where there's always a festival going on. You can drive to the Finger Lakes. Or you can just sit back and do nothing but stare at the sunrise, sunset, the infinite water or the glorious stars.
Here are some events to help you plan your trip: (These event happen annually, but check to make sure they are still On this year...)
Remaining events:
Buffalo Chicken Wing festival- Labor Day Weekend- Where else but Buffalo can you go to sample the best wings in the country? (Sept 2-3)
Finger Lakes- Keuka Lake and Seneca Lake have countless wineries, many with live music, lunch and dinner options, and tours of the wine making process. The Finger Lakes Wine Festival is scheduled for July 8th in Watkins Glen, but don't wait for a festival to enjoy these world-class wines. The Finger Lakes Beer Festival is scheduled for late October.
The Hilton, NY Apple Festival is the first weekend in October (Sept 30-Oct 1, 2023)
Live Horse Racing is available in Batavia, NY (about a half hour from the house)
Niagara on the Lake hosts the Shaw Festival (featuring multiple performances of first rate live theater) each season, starting in April and running through the fall. - "GOING TO BOOK IT AGAIN FOR NEXT YEAR LOVE ALL OF IT" - "Another fantastic stay at Katie’s cabin. This was our 2nd stay. The cabin is clean and comfortable. The beds provide restful sleep, and the kitchen is well stocked. The property is incredible. The well maintained hiking trails make it so easy to get around the property and to Johnson Creek for great fishing. One of my favorite spots is the back porch swing. The cabin sits on top of a rise and you can view the property and the pond from the swing. Communication with Katie was excellent. We were delighted when she brought us a replacement light bulb and shared a few moments with us. Since we have family who live in this area, we look forward to staying here again."

The living room was large with really comfy couches and chairs and was a great hangout space for us. It has a nice fire pit with chairs outside, overlooking the river. Bring firewood if you plan on using the fire pit or you can buy some nearby which we did." - "Overall a wonderful stay! Communication was smooth and Laura, went out of her way to accomodate our family. The house is very clean and beautiful! We were in awe the moment we entered the house. We love everything about it specially the decors and the fixtures. In addition, the kayaks are perfect as the children paddled on the creek. We also enjoyed the Circle R farm 5 minutes away from the house. Their ice cream is delicious. Overall, great memories were made in the house and we are planning to be back."

We live in the country on a less travelled road so there was more traffic than we are used to but nothing to deter us from renting again. We had a pleasant stay and would reserve again.*****"

- "Beautiful location right on Lake Ontario. Something for everyone to do. Rock painting, board games, Wii games, swimming in the lake, bird watching, yard games. We stayed for a week in late July and were very comfortable and entertained in the house. The house does have whole house A/C, plenty of lawn chairs, gas grill, picnic table, fire pit. An easy climb down natural rock steps allows access to swimming, floating in Lake Ontario. Bring your own inner tubes, rafts. The kitchen is pretty well stocked with crock pot, keurig (and regular brew) coffee makers, toaster, blender. We did have to drive about 20 minutes to the Super Wal-Mart for grocery shopping. The beds are super comfy...all of them had memory foam toppers. There are plenty of towels and linens and a washer and dryer and deep sink in the laundry room. Linda the property manager was very nice and helpful. Our family of 7 with 5 kids ranging in age from 23 to 10, really enjoyed our stay and are seriously considering staying again next summer. For us to all agree we had a great time is pretty miraculous!"

- "My family and I spent a week on the lake and it was absolutely wonderful. Great scenery, great people and great memories!" - "Your house was warm and wonderful. We loved it. Charming place...good neighbors...enjoyed the hell out of it. Oh...move the jet ski...obscures the sunsets :-))" - "We came for our honeymoon and couldn’t have been happier! There’s a reason why this little cottage is called “cheerful.” The cottage has wonderful windows overlooking greenery and the lake; the decor is real country-homey welcoming, the sunset views are spectacular. The place truly feels like a happy home. There are many small thoughtful touches and the property manager lives just up the road and was super friendly when he came to get the garbage and recyclables. Plenty of hot water for showers and all appliances working perfectly. Thank you Rob! You made our honeymoon so very fantastic!"

Modern meets vintage downstairs apartment. This apartment has been recently updated but still has that “old home” feel. Built in the 1800’s. Lots of natural light with a great workspace, full kitchen, bath with rain shower, washer and dryer and a spacious bedroom. Perfect for longer stays but also for a night away. Private off street parking in the heart of the village of Medina. You are walking distance from downtown unique shops, boutiques and restaurants. It is less than an hour drive to Niagara Falls, Buffalo and Rochester and about 15 minutes from Lake Ontario.
- "We were in Medina for one night to take our kids on the Polar Express ride at the railroad museum down the street from the house. It was a pretty quiet street and convenient for what we needed, which was not much. " - "Great place for a stay in Medina. Host was very nice and accommodating. Will return for another stay. " - "We struggle to contact the owner via vrbo app but thos was not their fault. The appartment was great. Clean, spacius. Water in fridge. Coffee machine. Washing machine and dryer. I just feel the day rate plus the clean fee makes a 1 night stay quite expensive. "

Our newly renovated layout offers a free-standing bathtub, walk-in shower, full-length mirror, functional seating area, and kitchenette. The Proctor marries cozy and elegant vibes featuring bold green walls, luxury washroom, and large serving space.
- "Rather unassuming on the outside but so tastefully decorated inside.Self check in and out with a passcode. Very comfortable room, lovely large bathroom with a beautiful shower and stand alone tub. The counter with the coffee maker and fridge could use some light. It’s rather dark. Password for WiFi didn’t seem to work. Not big issues. Looked for an iron and ironing board as we had a big event the next day. Couldn’t find one and called the owner to ask if they had one. She immediately drove down and delivered both. Full beds were very comfortable. Could hear the noise through the walls of the adjoining room, but too tired to care. All in all, a lovely find when all the hotels in the area were booked. Would definitely stay again."
