The Neighborhood
In western Wisconsin, St. Croix Falls has become a destination for people who want to go places.

It's the western terminus of the 1,000-mile Ice Age National Scenic Trail, which traces the last glacier as it began to melt and retreat northward, leaving a marvelously lumpy patchwork of rock, rubble and river gorges.

It's the southern trailhead of the 48-mile Gandy Dancer State Trail, a scenic crushed-limestone bicycle trail named for the rail workers who rhythmically swung pickaxes and hammers made by the Gandy Tool Co.

And it's the headquarters of the 252-mile St. Croix National Scenic Riverway, with a new visitors center that helps paddlers plan trips from the Namekagon to the St. Croix's confluence with the Mississippi.

There are another 12 trails in Interstate State Park, which became Wisconsin's first state park in 1900 and is the start of the Ice Age Trail.

Visit Ki-Chi Saga Park just down the street! The centerpiece of this park is the Karl Oskar House, an original 19th century Swedish immigrant house recently restored by the Chisago County Historical society. There are 2 picnic shelters, a Children’s Play Structure, Volleyball (bring your ball), Horseshoes (Bring your horseshoes), nature hike and winter ski trail.

Wine Lover? Wine Haven is a 12-minute drive, as well as Dancing Dragonfly, and Chateau St. Croix 30-minute drive.

Wild Mountain is a 25-minute drive. In the summer, enjoy their water park, alpine slides and go-karts. And in winter you can ski, snowboard and snow tube.

Troll Hagen is a 25-minute drive, and has zip lines in the summer, and tubing, skiing and snowboarding in the winter.

In less than 10 Minutes you can visit the Pleasant Valley Orchard. Spend the summer strawberry picking and in the fall pick apples and pumpkins and go on a hayride. As it gets to the end of the year, go to their barn sale!

Like to Golf? Chisago Lakes Golf course is just a 5-minute drive from the cabin. It has 18 holes and a new pro shop, and was named one of the top 50 MN public golf courses.

South Center Lake is 835 acres in size. It is approximately 109 feet deep at its deepest point. Anglers can expect to catch a variety of fish including Black Bullhead, Black Crappie, Bluegill, Brown Bullhead, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Pumpkinseed, Walleye, Yellow Bullhead and Yellow Perch.

Boat lanch just other side of lake off Olinda. Beds were comfy. One couple took the loft and other the bedroom. We did move fan up to loft to cool it down. Kitchen has everything you'll need to cook or bake. A few actual steak knives would have been nice, but we made do. Large table was great for meals and games. Living room so cozy with extra pillows, blankets for movie watching. Lots of towels, travel size shampoo, conditioner, lotion were provided! So nice. Even beach towels were provided, we didn't realize that and brought our own. Only one of us swam, so no big deal. We spent time out at Winehaven winery and Common Loon Brewery. Ate out at the Stone Inn twice. Great Lobster Mac! Franconia Sculpture garden was fun and not far away. Chris was super easy to text and he responded promptly. We would definitely go back! A small unique urban “loft bedroom” that is close to Wild Mountain; Trollhaugen; Festival Theater; the Ice Age Trailhead; Interstate Park in WI and MN; the Gandy Dancer Trail; the Woolly Mountain Bike Trail; Cyclova Bike Shop; the St Croix River; Osceola; cafe, bars, and small grocery store within walking distance.. You’ll love my place because of the high ceilings, the uniqueness, the location, & the private cafe table outside.

The space:
This is a small studio bedroom w kitchenette, a private bathroom with toilet, vanity, and stand-up shower. The thermostat controls for the heat are in the bathroom. AC unit for the main room. There is a small kitchenette, dresser, hangers, TV, Wi-Fi, and access to a stone patio. Right off of main street in downtown St Croix Falls.

Guest access:
You will be given an electronic keycode and instructions to use this lock system the morning of check-in. You will use this keycode to lock and unlock the main door to the apartment. You may check-in without meeting us (which is why we are flexible on check-in time) but if you need anything, we are close by and can help you with anything.

Other things to note:
There are three apartments we rent out at 123 s Washington so if you are traveling with others and want to stay together, please also check out the listings for The Artist's Loft and The Peacock Loft. There are three patios that anyone can sit on and enjoy. Although we are off of Main Street, road noise is usually limited in the Copper Room but feel free to bring a fan or earplugs if very sensitive to noise - we want you to have a great sleep! This is a unique room and has exposed copper pipes (which is why it is decorated in a copper theme!) - please note that there may be small water-trickling sounds coming up the pipes (the room has 12 foot ceilings though so they are high-up) above. Do not be alarmed - this is normal. We just want you to be aware before booking so this doesn't upset you. Also, this apartment only has a small partial kitchen: Fridge, hot plate, air fryer microwave, sink, and cupboards. Plenty of room to store fresh/dry food for a weekened/week though.

Parking on the street is plentiful. Room is located down one flight of stairs.

If anyone in your party is afraid of dogs please let us know and we can keep our dog tethered during your stay. Please let us know if there will be small children as part of your group. The house is not child proof.

Walk-out lakefront access, four 2-person paddleboards (that can also be used similarly to kayaks), a 100" projector screen, knotty-pine walls, modern and fresh renovations, and comfortable furnishings, all complete the Pelican Bay Cabin.

Given that the cabin is in a bay, we are fortunate to enjoy a plethora of wildlife year-round. If you are looking for a peaceful retreat that includes walk-out lakefront access to one of the most sought-after lakes in the region and abundant wildlife, this IS the place for you.

The reason wildlife seek out this bay is due to its LACK of sandy beaches. If you are looking for a sand-covered beach, this is NOT the place to stay.

We utilize Ring video doorbells for our guests' safety. This also allows us to ensure the booking details are accurate -- if more people than are listed attempt to check in, or someone other than the person who made the reservation checks in, we'll be alerted.

PETS:
We can accommodate 1 dog per reservation upon approval only. Your dog must be on the reservation with the DAILY pet fee ($50 PER night) paid prior to arrival or you will be subject to an additional charge plus the nightly pet rate.

Keeping the noise down allows for you to hear all of the amazing wildlife and keeps the neighborhood the lovely, peaceful place it is.
