Welcome to the Forest House, a single-level, fully furnished retreat nestled on the 2300 acres lake. This charming cabin offers three bedrooms and two bathrooms, accommodating up to 10 guests in comfort and style. Each bedroom is meticulously appointed with new mattresses, quality bedding, ample outlets for device charging, and storage options like closets and drawers to ensure a restful stay.

**We do allow up to two dogs with a flat $100 pet fee, regardless of the length of stay or number of pets.**

It will be tough to decide whether you watch the sunsets from the comfort of your family room, next to a fire on the lakeside patio or sitting on the end of the dock with your feet dangling in the water. The Clear Lake Cottage offers activities for all ages during all seasons! Spring, Summer & Fall offer great fishing for walleye & bass, swimming in sand/rock bottom Clear Lake, boating (pantoon available by request & fee), paddle boarding, playing lawn games, walking/biking on the nearby paved trail system, or getting a sun tan on the dock. Winter months attract the sport of ice fishing, snowmobiling on nearby trails, crafting and quilting groups, family holiday gatherings, spiritual retreats, jumping into the outdoor hot tub and building many fires in the wood burning fireplace onsite. We also have connections with a private chef who can offer in-home premium experiences during your rental. The neighborhood
Forest Lake is a town with great heritage and growth in recent years! We enjoy getting a cup of joe or latte at Kodiak Coffee or the Coffee Smith, picking up scrumptious cinnamon rolls from Keys Cafe to eat on the dock and getting a sweet treat at the local ice cream shop in the downtown area. There are wonderful restaurants all within 5-7 minutes if you're wanting to enjoy a meal out or grab take out! Our personal favorites are: Mallards, Zoukmaya & Shoreside Bar & Grill. There are also fun antique shops located downtown: Vintage Junky is one that has awesome handmade items! Another relaxing option for individuals or groups is to book a day at the full service LeGrande Spa on Forest Lake, just 7 minutes away from the Clear Lake Cottage. Taylors Falls is 25 minutes away and offers great hiking, rafting, climbing and unforgettable views in all seasons! Target, Walmart, Aldi, Cub, and Home Depot are also within 8 minutes of the Clear Lake Cottage if you should need to grab any extra groceries or supplies during your stay.

Clear Lake Cottage shares a long private driveway with our neighbors. This creates the perfect separation for relaxation & quiet! There is parking for a max of 8 vehicles on the driveway behind the garage. (The volleyball court, basketball hoop and kid playground are on our neighbors property, please refrain from trespassing). No RV parking is permitted due to having a narrow & shared driveway. Please observe our quiet hours listed in our house rules information (10pm-8am).

Getting around
Uber & Lyft are popular apps for getting around town if you do not have personal transportation.

The Hardwood Creek Regional Trail is within walking distance of Clear Lake Cottage. It is a paved, 9.5-mile multiple-use trail in all seasons. The trail consists of two parallel trails which run adjacent to State Highway 61, from County Road 8 (Frenchman Road) in Hugo to the Washington/Chisago County Line in Forest Lake.

The paved trail portion is for bikers, hikers, and in-line skaters, skiers and snowshoeing. In the winter, the paved trail is not groomed. The adjacent turf trail portion is for horses in the summer and snowmobiles in the winter. The Forest Lake snowmobile club grooms the turf trail in the winter.

Meadow Retreat is a gorgeous two story home nestled in a beautiful 1.5+ lot off North Shore with privacy and a gorgeous views. Lake front property! 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. Property set up for separate living spaces. 1 room with plenty of bunks for boys/girls/kids and 4 bedrooms for adults. Level 45 foot walk from walkout patio to the lake. The water is shallow and clear out to the end of the 280 foot dock. Great for parents with young children as the water doesn't drop off until 20 yards past the dock! There is a ring doorbell with alerts off at the front door.

Come enjoy our year-round lake cabin with your own PRIVATE beach. We have beautiful sunrises from our 3-level cottage and sunsets from the dock or anywhere on the water. Enjoy almost 70 feet of private, sandy beach into the lake, which is great for kids of all ages. Our long dock is available for your private use May-September (weather permitting) and has plenty of space to pull up your own boat. We have 2 kayaks and a paddleboat for you to enjoy as well, and if you are a member you can also rent a motorboat nearby at “Your Boat Club”. (Note: The motorized boat on the property is not for rental use.) The lake is quite shallow and usually clear but also weedy at times. For your safety, do not dive from the dock. The bench and 2 lounge chairs on the end of the dock are lovely for enjoying the lake at any time of the day!

We are walking distance to downtown Forest Lake, including the Dairy Queen and a great ice cream shop, coffee shops, and multiple restaurants. The city park and the city beach are a short walk as well. The bike trail is across the street and steps away, and we have a bike for your enjoyment in the lower level. If you are here on a summer Tuesday night, you won’t want to miss Arts and Crafts in the park with food trucks and live music. Don’t worry about parking - you can walk to the park in about 7 minutes! We are conveniently located about 30 minutes north of downtown Minneapolis/St. Paul if your travels bring you here for events in the city!

Our cottage sleeps 8 comfortably (10 max with a 1 time, extra-person fee for guests 9 and 10) in 4 bedrooms (2 Kings, 1 Queen, 1 lower-level bunk, and 1 Twin in the hallway [Twin hallway "room" has no closet]). There's also an extra futon in the lower-level family room (linens in the closet). Note: We welcome children but do not have a Pack’n Play or crib, nor is the home setup for the safety of small children. Please feel free to bring your own children’s items. If you should need some necessities and/or groceries, we are an easy drive to Target and Walmart. We are close to Cub Foods or Aldi for groceries, and there are plenty of fast food places near the interstate. The Keys Cafe is also a favorite and only a short drive away. If you are here for the 4th of July the parade goes right past the house on the street and the fireworks are on a barge in the middle of our lake, weather permitting.

Amenities included:
Home internet and free Wifi. A full bathroom on each level, at least 1 TV on each level, whole house boiler heat (if needed) and bedroom AC window units (May-Sept only) and room fans.

-Main Level: Full kitchen with dishwasher and microwave (with air fryer feature), gas range, microwave and fridge. Flatscreen ROKU Smart TVs in the eat-in kitchen and Queen bedroom, in-room window AC units in the bedrooms, ceiling fans in the kitchen and dining room and some portable fans in rooms too. There is a lakeside desk to get your work done, if you need to do any work on your getaway.

-Upstairs: Flatscreen ROKU Smart TVs in each of the 2 King bedrooms and in-room window AC units

-Lower Level: Large Flatscreen ROKU Smart TV in lower-level family room with a futon, extra eating space, kitchenette with fridge, sink and microwave, washer/dryer. Full bathroom with shower is just inside the lower level door for easy cleanup after playing at the beach. Please rinse off your sand OUTSIDE first. (NOTE: The infrared sauna in the bunk room is not for rental use.) Sorry, the inside fireplace is not available during the summer months.

Parking: Plenty of parking on our over-sized gravel area when pulling in at an angle. There is no parking inside the garage but you can park on the pad in front of the garage, which is handy for easy unloading. (Important Parking NOTE: We share our driveway with our neighbors to the north. Please Do NOT BLOCK the cars from coming in/out of the neighbor’s garage. Please stay entirely on our side of the driveway. We do have a pontoon trailer in the driveway but still room to park.)

Enjoy outdoor living in a number of areas: 1.) Deck lakeside off the living room with a small table and 2 chairs. Great for sunrises with a cup of coffee, 2.) Side patio area with a swing and outdoor eating area and BBQ, 3.) Fire pit near the beach (perfect for s’mores), 4.) The sandy beach and of course 5.) the lake!

Please note, our home is close to both our neighbors. We have the utmost respect for them and expect the same of our guests. No parties/events, no loud music/noise, no smoking/vaping (owner is severely allergic to smoke and pets and has asthma), and no drugs or illegal activity is allowed. As stated, NO PETS! Please respect our neighbors' privacy!

Note: The house does have 2 outdoor ARLO cameras monitoring the front door and the beach from afar for security purposes. There are no cameras in the home. You will be charged for any damages or theft, inside or outside or for excessive messes left by you or your party, those fees will be added on top of the standard cleaning fees and start at $500.

Note new June 2025: We did have some ice damage to our beach over the winter/Spring. It is still sandy but the beach is steeper than in years past. We added cinder block steps down to the water's edge and new Adirondack chairs on the sand. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that the beach will be clear of weeds when you arrive. Expect weeds to come up on the beach if the winds blow towards our shoreline. There's a rake in the lower-level utility room if you'd like to clear an area of weeds.

Also, the VRBO site assumes if you have any exercise equipment, you have a "gym". We have a stationary/recumbent bike and some hand weights in our lower level, and 1 bike for outside for your use. We do NOT have a "gym."

In addition to our cottage being close to Mpls/St. Paul we are about 20 miles to Taylor's Falls thru Chisago City and the cute Swedish town of Lindstrom (great bakery too). We enjoy day trips there for sightseeing and exploring.

Forest Lake is a quaint town 30 minutes from both downtowns of the twin cities. It’s close to the Blaine airport, sports center+Running Aces Casino. It has several shops+ restaurants+ a beach area on Forest Lake!

- "It has potential. One large room over a garage. No walls to divide living/kitchen/pool table/bedroom space. Beautiful view. Very bright. Nicely furnished. Fun pool table. Dirty on arrival-we had to clean. No drinking glasses, 1 coffee cup! We had to ask for glasses. Dirty, USED paper plates in cabinet. 4 sides windows-no blinds...like sleeping in a fish bowl. 1 full, 1 twin bed. Crinkly rubber sheets. Noisy neighbors-fireworks at 2am? " - "Loaded the car up and had the kids ready to go. Everyone is excited and I get a call from evolve 4 hours before check in that our stay is cancelled… then evolve lets me know there are “other similar properties “ but those properties tend to jack up their prices when you want to book same day. Especially on Fourth of July. They didn’t offer a discount or credit. Why would I book something if they can just cancel it again? Why would I trust your company? They just said “the owner cancelled.” Why were we punished? If the owner cancels, my guess is they booked a longer stay on a different site, a reason should be given. We were just told. If its evolve, we will never trust them again."
