Located along the shores of Lake Superior, this Beaver Bay resort is nestled among the trees of Split Rock Lighthouse State Park. Our upscale North Shore retreat is well-appointed and comfortable! It is in the desired town home community of Windsong Cottages enveloped down in a beautiful valley off of Highway 61 at the edge of the charming town of Beaver Bay, MN. It boasts a commanding view of Lake Superior the largest fresh water lake in the world!

Our Windsong Cottage is perched on a rocky ridge of the waters edge and pebbled with beautiful trees beneath the deck! Come and unwind as you soak in the soothing sounds of the waves crashing on the rocks right in front of our home.

As you drive down into the protected valley of the Windsong Cottages, you experience the peaceful community of these town homes, with Lake Superior as the back drop, glistening on a sunny day! You immediately notice these cottages are up-scale, hand crafted homes that are aesthetically landscaped, well maintained and you feel you are in for a nice vacation experience.

Our 1570 square foot vacation home is nestled in the community of lake front Windsong Cottages which boasts some of the best unobstructed views of the Lake.

FURNISHINGS:

Our cottage’s décor has style encompassing many elements of the theme of Lake Superior, its many moods, and the surrounding woods.

We have uniquely furnished our home with upscale furnishings like Flexsteel Couch & Lazy Boy Chairs. The couch is electric reclining & reclining chairs. The Old Hickory Furniture that is typically found in iconic, upscale lodges and resorts since 1899 brings a quality and rustic comfort that makes our vacation home feel like an upscale North Shore retreat.

BED AND BATH ACCOMMODATIONS:

It accommodates up to six guests depending on what sleeping arrangements you are looking for. It has three private bedrooms that claim a bathroom for each.

A truly romantic and beautifully appointed Master Bedroom Suite features Old Hickory furniture and north woods lodge décor. The prominent, king size bed highlights this room hosting a supremely comfortable - Plush pillowtop mattress with rich linens. The height of this bed allows you cuddle on the bed and see the entire panoramic view out the bay windows that encase the complete front of the bedroom. There is nothing better than watching the sunrise or moon rise from your bed! The suite features a Jacuzzi tub at the windows edge for retreating into after a long day on the shore. There is an adjoining bathroom with heated floors, a closet, and attached toilet/shower room.

Second Floor Queen Suite - A favorite when two couples come to the shore to each have their own private suite. This bedroom features an upscale richly designed room that exudes the feel of the North Shore. A comfortable, queen sized Old Hickory log bed with matching large dresser with many drawers. An adjoining, full private bath with heated floors, tub/shower combo.

Third bedroom - on the main level home. Small private room, with a comfortable Queen sized bed. The bed is closer to one wall by the window. A closet and suite case table. This bedroom has a bathroom located just outside the bedroom with heated floor, and shower.

LIVING ROOM - DINING - KITCHEN:
Alas---walk down the hall to a "grand view" out the large, floor to ceiling windows showcasing Lake Superior back drop to the open design of the kitchen, dining, and living rooms.

Truly an upscale "North Shore" retreat! Old Hickory & Flexsteel furniture, and our Old Hickory dining table & 4 chairs (2 folding chairs are in closet to seat six easily) Our guests say they love the homey feel relaxing in the living room surrounding the fireplace to sit in comfort and talk about their wonderful day on the shore. Loving the ambiance of the sound of crashing waves on our shore or being mesmerized gazing at Lake Superior and the beautiful sun/moon rises! No matter if you are In the living room/deck/or master bedroom!

The kitchen features granite counters with handsome Hickory cabinets. While preparing food at the counter facing the lake, you have access to the sink (with disposal), and the bar height counter to visit with your family and friends seated on the other side.

The kitchen is complete with a dishwasher, refrigerator/freezer with ice maker, full size stove/oven, and microwave. It is organized & well appointed with the pots/pans/bakeware to make your meals. We provide various basic spices to aide in cooking your delicious meals. We provide coffee beans, various teas, hot chocolate.
We provide tin foil, plastic wrap, zip lock bags, paper towels and dish/hand/dishwasher soaps, kitchen towels. The cupboards are filled with nice white porcelain dishes, drinking glassware, wine glasses and pretty flatware that make a lovely up-north table. You can enjoy your meal at the dining room table or out on the deck table to revel in the panoramic view and entrancing sounds of Lake Superior!

OUR PHILOSOPHY:
After many years of vacationing on the North Shore, we purchased this town home in December 2014. We know what we appreciated and looked for in the properties we have stayed at. Our home has evolved into a "boutique vacation home rental" thanks to all our guests and repeat guests we continue to keep this dream retreat alive! You will find a clean and well cared for vacation home.

We pay well for our excellent cleaning team. We strive to use most cleaning products to be all natural eco and human friendly. We manage our property ourselves and that has allowed us to have a well maintained home. We have a maintenance man to take care of any issues that would need addressing right away.

We decided to share our vacation home with others to offset the expenses of our dream retreat. We are looking for GUESTS WHO WILL PARTNER WITH US IN USING OUR HOME WITH CARE. It is our hope your experience with us will keep you coming back for many years!

We are part of a quiet community of 26 privately owned residential town homes that are not owned or operated by any resort, hotel or lodge. A vacation by owner rental allows travelers to experience a vacation out of the congested resort or hotel settings. You become part of our friendly community of owners and guests. We have a shared use building with a pool and sauna. Pool (open Memorial day to New Years) AND Sauna open Year round.

Our vacation home is centrally located just off Minnesota scenic North Shore drive Highway 61 and surrounded by some of the premier vacation state park destinations in Minnesota. The closest park being Split Rock Lighthouse which is one of the most visited and photographed lighthouses in the nation! It is hard to beat our location for travelers who want to be centrally located and capture “all” the shore has to offer.

We think you will agree, due to the nature of the shores length, if you are too far northeast or southwest you get trapped into only seeing part of the shore when you visit, but our location meets the needs of the travelers who want to see it all. Hand scribed log cabin perched high on a cliff overlooking lake superior. Surrounded by big red and white pines, it truly is the 'land of the pines.' Kick back on the deck or in the large screen porch and watch the ships coming and going from Silver Bay Harbor. Huge view of the lake and Palisade Head. Very private and peaceful.

Tons to do, near Tettegouche, Judge Magney, Temperance and Split Rock state parks and Silver Bay Marina. Excellent waterfalls, Baptism river, swimming, hiking, fishing, biking, rock climbing, sailing, boating, kayaking, the list goes on...
or a perfect spot to sit and take in the views and do nothing at all.

Winter season brings a whole new array of activities and scenery. The snow covered white pines with the blue water of Lake Superior is amazing! We have a sweet dove tail wood fired sauna. There are 2 sets of snowshoes and trails from the door. Also several great cross country ski trails nearby, including Tettegouche State Park, where you can ski into an old hunting camp of several log cabins and a nice lodge. You can pack in a lunch and make a fire in the fireplace. There is also the Northwoods Ski Trail in Silver Bay and Flathorn-Gegoka in Isabella, just to name a few.

There is a queen and a double bed in the loft with a huge skylight for star gazing and lightning storms. The screen porch also has incredible views and is a comfortable place to relax, there is also a comfy futon in the living room.

Centrally located on the North Shore only 50 miles to Grand Marais, 58 miles to Duluth or 50 miles to Ely and the Boundary Waters. The Silver Bay Marina is only six miles away. Superior Hiking trail is a quarter mile. Ring camera doorbell is on site; located beside entry door. Kayak rental is available from Sawbill outfitters.

The Palisade Log Cabin is a lake front, wooded private retreat on the north shore of Lake Superior. It is located just off Highway 61, one mile northeast of Silver Bay. It is about a half mile through heavily wooded lots to the 45-year-old secluded and authentic log cabin. The cabin sits on seven acres of private land, and has more than 460 feet of high rugged Lake Superior shoreline.

There are incredible views to the north of the Palisade Head Cliffs. These cliffs reach 350 feet high and are a favorite of rock climbers. You can hear the waves of the lake crashing against the ledge rock cliffs just 70 feet from the cabin. The sunrises over the lake are spectacular; in the evening you might be able to view the northern lights.

We installed a geothermal heating/cooling system in October 2012 which should keep the cabin warm and cozy all winter long, and cool in the summer. Enjoy the peace and solitude of the whispering pines and birch while watching a bald eagle flying above. You can read a book or play cards/games near the cabin’s warm wood stove. Outside you can toast marshmallows at the fire pit or play horseshoes. Search for Thomsonites, agates, crystals, cobblestones, or driftwood at the nearby Black beach, go berry picking, or view colorful spring wild flowers and brilliant fall foliage.

There are many things to do and explore in the area:
-Drive the Highway 61/Superior National Forest Scenic Byway and visit the beautiful Minnesota state parks nearby (see map).
-Hike on The Superior Hiking Trail that runs from Two Harbors to the Canadian border. -Ride your bike on the Gitche Gami Bike Trail that runs along Highway 61.
-Snowmobile on the North Shore State Snowmobiling Trail or drive an ATV on designated ATV trails from Duluth to Grand Portage.
-Try cross-country skiing on the North Shore Mountain Cross Country Ski Trail.
-Visit Lutsen Mountains ski resort 36 miles from the cabin.

In the summer you can go to Black Beach less then a mile away, and nearby beautiful sandy beaches which are part of Tettegouche State Park or hike to the beautiful High Falls. Take a charter boat tour or fishing trip out of the Silver Bay Marina, that is 3.5 miles to the southwest. If you're adventurous, you can go kayaking in the cove. Golfing is available at Silver Bay golf course, and there is live music in Silver Bay July 14- September 1.

Watch for giant iron ore carriers on Lake Superior; they depart from Silver Bay and head east to Cleveland. Look for wildlife around the cabin and you may see eagle, deer, moose, bear, fox, wolf, and beaver. If you don’t feel like cooking, dine at a variety of fine nearby restaurants (Northwoods Cafe in Silver Bay, Lemon Wolf in Beaver Bay, Cove Point Lodge in Beaver Bay; Rustic Inn near Two Harbors) or check out the new Timber Coffee Company near downtown Silver Bay.

There is also a local grocery store, Zups, located just five minutes for the cabin for last minute supplies.

Our home is perfect for one or two couples, there are two bedrooms, one on each floor, each with a connected bath for privacy. Our home's amazing view and ideal location attracts lots of inquiries from travelers with a 5th or 6th person, rather than turn them down, we added twin air mattresses so we can accommodate six guests, that is our maximum.

The Gitchi-Gami State Trail is at the top of Windsong Drive, walk or ride bikes to Split Rock Lighthouse and Gooseberry Falls. Palisade Head and Tettegouche State Park are a few miles up 61. Easy access to the Superior Hiking Trail, hike for miles through forests, along ridges, rivers, waterfalls and lakes. What an amazing place in every season, come explore by day and relax in style and comfort at night.

Winter guests enjoy miles and miles of nearby cross country and snowmobile trails. The midwest's best downhill skiing is just 40 minutes away at Lutsen. Gooseberry Falls park and Split Rock both have beautiful, groomed cross country ski trails, we use them to snowshoe too. There's nothing like spending time on foot, skis or snowshoes in the woods in winter. It's good for your body, mind and soul.

Perched on a wooded hill 700 ft higher than Lake Superior, the Apostle Islands on the south shore can be seen along with the large ships going to and from Duluth. Witness spectacular sunrises and sunsets, experience impressive weather patterns and watch for falling stars and the northern lights at night!

We built this full scribed log cabin out of large white pine logs in a peaceful and remote location. Enjoy this perfect place to relax all day or return to your home-away-from-home after an adventurous day of exploring the hiking trails, State Parks, and beautiful rocky beaches of Lake Superior. Sit on the deck or screened porch and enjoy the views. Listen to the wind in the trees, the morning birdsong, or the distant sound of a waterfall. Grill a steak or have a drink while taking in the peace and quite. Read, play games, sit around a fire at night watching the moon on Lake Superior, or hike to the river and see the falls!

Baptism River and Illgen falls, with a thunderous 50 foot drop, are about 1/4 mile from the cabin and are easily accessible. Watch people rope swinging or jumping at the falls or walk up river to take a dip in a private swimming spot.

Lake Superior and Crystal Beach are only 1.5 miles away. This beach offers a less-visited place to look for rocks, listen to the waves, or take a refreshing swim in the cold waters of Lake Superior.

Kayak the clear waters of the big lake and enjoy the cliffs and rocky shoreline or bike the paved Gitchi-Gami trail.

Hiking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing trails and rock climbing routes can all be found within a 5-10 minute drive on the Superior Hiking Trail, Tettegouche State Park, and impressive Palisade Head. The trails in this area offer some of the best hiking and scenery in the midwest taking you to cascading waterfalls, through thick balsam, poplar, and maple forests and up and over steep rocky climbs that offer breathtaking views of the inland lakes, hills, and Lake Superior. No matter what season, natural beauty is everywhere!

Within 20 minutes there are numerous restaurants, gift shops, a golf course, a lake cruise, and chartered fishing opportunities. Wolf Ridge Environmental Center is a pretty and unique place to visit.

Within 40 minutes you will find Lutsen Mountain which offers the best downhill skiing and snowboarding in the Midwest! In the summer you can take a Gondola to a sweeping overlook and have lunch, take a fun ride on the alpine slides, or enjoy the gift shops and restaurants in the area. Gooseberry, Split Rock, Temperance State, and George Manitou State parks all offer site seeing, hiking, gift shops and information about the area. All the state parks have beautiful lake access and mesmerizing waterfalls. In the city of Two Harbors you will find many shops, restaurants, a cruise, train ride, light house and various other attractions.

The unique villages of Ely and Grand Marais are each within an hour's drive and offer various regional activities, recreational opportunities, shopping , and restaurants. Both of these quaint destinations have seasonal festivals, events, and music.

It is located just outside the quaint town of Beaver Bay, which has various restaurants and a few shops to explore. The paved Gitchi-Gami trail, which has several segments along the shore, is just across the road at the end of the driveway. Bike rental is available at Cove Point Crossing about 1/2 mile from the cabin. Bike the trail to Split Rock Lighthouse or Gooseberry Falls. Mountain bike (or hike) the new Split Rock Wilds trail right from the cabin or park closer at the nearby trailhead. Hike to Cove Point to get a drink or a pizza. Split Rock Lighthouse State Park is a 5 minute drive and Gooseberry Falls is a 15 minute drive away, Palisade Head and Tettegouche State Park only 20 minutes. All of these parks offer great hiking and sightseeing opportunites with waterfalls, lighthouse, and lake views. The Superior HIking Trail, which spans the whole North Shore, is accessible within 1/2 mile of the cabin.

The attractive town of Two Harbors is only 1/2 hour away and has many shops, restaurants, and a lighthouse to explore. Lutsen Mountain near Tofte offers breathtaking views while downhill skiing. Speed down the mountain on the Alpine Slides or take the relaxing Gondola ride up to the top of the Sawtooth range to have a lunch with a sweeping view of Lake Superior. Grand Marais and Ely are about an hour away and have many shops and seasonal festivals and activities. Check out the North House Folk School for year round classes.

In winter some of the best snowshoeing and skiing abound just down the road. Tettegouche has maintained cross country ski trails. All ungroomed trails are great for snowshoeing and the rivers are beautiful in the winter!

There is a snowmobile trail that starts near the cabin and joins up with the north shore trail system.

Our laundering of all bedding between guests, state of the art ventilation system, high speed internet and cable TV, keyless contact-free check-in, and ensuite bathrooms for each bedroom contribute to our house's appeal during COVID-19 and at all times. We are a fully licensed and inspected free-standing and private home just a 3.5 hour drive from the Minneapolis Saint Paul International Airport. Best of all is our location on Lake Superior with views of its most dramatic section of rugged coastline from throughout the house.

With our Scandinavian and Japanese heritage showing through the warm wood tones, the house was designed for our own family retreats and is fully licensed for short-term rental. Each of our 5 bedrooms has its own attached bathroom, with a separate powder room off the great room.

The upper floor of the house is level with the parking area and includes two bedrooms (one with a queen-size bed, the other with two twin beds) and the great room including the kitchen, dining and living areas, and covered deck. Couples and other small groups spend their entire time on this self-contained floor which also easily accommodates guests with mobility limitations. The lower floor has three bedrooms with queen-size beds, along with a laundry area the guests can use. One of these bedrooms can be configured for meetings/projects instead of sleeping, and it also includes memory foam single sofa bed in addition to a very comfortable techline queen-size Murphy bed. Both upper and lower floors open directly to the outside without any stairs and each bedroom has a view including the lake.

Each bedroom has its own bathroom, three of which contain soaking tub/showers and two of which have dedicated showers. Two of the soaking tubs have picture windows for very scenic relaxation.

The house was custom designed for its unique location on a wooded point to afford generous white water views of this most dramatic stretch of rugged Lake Superior shoreline. An expanse of south facing windows generously lets in the winter sun. The bay, islets and headlands we see from our windows looking toward Shovel Point of Tettegouche State are spectacular in all weathers and seasons.

Certified for energy efficient construction, the house has in-floor radiant heat, heat pump air conditioning in upper bedrooms, a fresh air exchange system, and naturally soft water from a a 330' deep well. We have a gas fireplace inside, and enjoy wood fires in the lakeside fire pit.

Our fiber optic cable service provides network stations from Duluth and over 60 cable channels with excellent bandwidth for all streaming services. The kitchen is very well equipped for serious cooking and service for ten, who can all fit around our extending dining room table. We provide all bedding and bath linens, freshly laundered (including blankets) and in place when you arrive. So you can unpack and feel fully at home, each bedroom has a generous closet and dresser drawers, and there are cabinets in the kitchen for your groceries, and a locker to store your coolers, packs, and luggage.

During the day, your eyes will probably be focused on the coastal views out the window, but note that we do provide information about the generous collection of regional and other artwork throughout the house. '

In addition to the fire pit outside, we have a yoga deck tucked in the woods on a trail running to the south of the house along the lake. Several outdoor benches provide places for scenic contemplation.

Our Lake Superior Retreat is a 3,300 sq ft log home on Lake Superior nestled on 4.75 acres of wooded land. We prefer to keep our landscape natural and rustic. We like the flora which is indigenous to the area. Wild lupine, ferns, thimbleberry, wild raspberries, etc. No grass, except for natural grasses. The result is our yard is filled with lovely butterflies.
There is plenty of parking space in the driveway. A path going down to the lake and firepit.
The house has 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bath, 2 wood burning fireplaces, large deck facing Lake Superior. Views of the lake from every room. Warm rustic Norwegian planking on the interior walls, a spacious great room with an expansive field stone fireplace, a large foyer, a well appointed kitchen, and dining room on the main floor.
The top floor has a loft bedroom overlooking the great room with a king size bed, as well as an adjacent master bedroom and bath.

- "My husband and 3 kids (ages 8, 11, and 13) stayed here as part of a longer trip to the Upper Midwest. After staying at Blackbeach, we all agreed we wanted more time to spend there! The cabin is extremely well appointed and has even better views. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed to make all our meals. The cabin was well stocked with games for us to play and the kids enjoyed playing them on the porch area. We loved relaxing on the beach. There was a great shaded area where my husband and I sat and read while the younger kids looked for lake glass. We could have done that for several days! The house also has a separate garage which was helpful-we put our van in there during a storm that was forecasted to possibly have large hail. Adam was extremely responsive and well prepared. He was an extremely good host. My only complaint is that the house lighting seemed a little dim in places. The master shower was very dark. Additionally, on the evening with the storm, the kids were playing a game in the family room and it was almost hard to see due to the low lighting. Otherwise, we have no complaints! We just wish we had more time! Thank you for this amazing retreat!"

Gull Rock Ridge has three bedrooms; a king size bed and a pull-out queen bed in the owner's suite (with attached bathroom) on the upper level, and two bedrooms on the main level, each with a queen bed. There is a shared main-floor bathroom. The property sleeps 8 guests.

As part of an open floor plan, the kitchen is a chef's dream, with honed-granite countertops, top-of-the-line appliances and lake views. Dine in the kitchen, with seating for 4 around the peninsula, or enjoy 180-degree panoramic views of Lake Superior from the eight-person dining table. The main floor family room centers around a gas-burning stone fireplace with views all around. Multiple decks, including a seating area for eight, with a gas grill overlooks the ever-changing, enigmatic lake.

This year round home is equipped with high-speed WI-FI, a flat screen TV, a DVD player, board games and puzzles.

This home is a modern style house. Surfaces include Indian Slate floors in the kitchen, great room, hallways and bathrooms; granite countertops in kitchen and bathroom; hard-wood floors in bedrooms; and carpeted staircase to master bedroom and bath. Furniture includes leather sofas, hard wood dining chairs and counter stools.

IMPORTANT: The home has a steep driveway, similar to many properties in the area. 4-wheel drive / All wheel drive vehicles are recommended for maneuvering the driveway. After Nov 1st 4-wheel or All- wheel vehicles are required.

Our property is equipped with very fast internet offering guests an easy way to work remotely if desired.
We allow dogs (not other pets) on the property; however we require that guests pay a $100 non-refundable pet fee before we finalize the booking. We expect that you will clean up after your dog and let us know of any incidences.
We provide our guests with a large outdoor area complete with a deck, string lights, a grill, fire pit area with adirondack chairs, hammocks, and a private sauna.
Please bring your own firewood and kindling/fire starters for the campfire (unless you want to gather sticks in the woods which is completely fine with us!) Most gas stations are stocked with bundles of firewood to purchase on your way.
We provide a charcoal grill for guests to use but ask that you bring your own charcoal.

Our hope is that you fully enjoy all that our tiny home has to offer! We believe our place has all that you need to enjoy a retreat away without leaving the forest. Most recreational attractions such as hiking/biking trails, sight-seeing, ATV trails, or other destinations are nearby. You are more than welcome to bring your own bikes, snowmobiles or even your boat when staying with us. We provide plenty of parking space as well as enough of an area to turn trailers around. Due to the weather in MN, please be prepared for winter travel when coming to and from our cabin. We make sure the driveway to the cabin is plowed for you but cannot guarantee how the roads leading there will be.

Our Hillside Kung tält sites are located further up on the hill from our other sites, and are between 500 and 750 feet from our Base Lodge showers and bathrooms, which are accessed via a rugged footpath. We will transport you and your gear to your site at check in, and we will also help you when it’s time to head home. These sites have more stairs to enter the tents, and typically are a longer walk in from the main trail. It is in the desired town home community of Windsong Cottages enveloped down in a beautiful, quiet valley off of Highway 61 & Gichi-Gami bike trail at the edge of the charming town of Beaver Bay, MN. It boasts a commanding view of Lake Superior the largest freshwater lake in the US!

Our 607 Windsong Cottage is perched on a rocky ridge of the water's edge and pebbled with beautiful trees beneath the deck! Come and unwind as you soak in the soothing sounds of the waves crashing on the rocks right in front of our home.

As you drive down into the protected valley of the Windsong Cottages, you experience the peaceful community of these town homes, with Lake Superior as the backdrop, glistening on a sunny day! BED AND BATH ACCOMMODATIONS:

It accommodates up to six guests depending on what sleeping arrangements you are looking for. It has 3 private bedrooms that claim a bathroom for each.

Master Bedroom Suite - On the second floor. A truly romantic and beautifully appointed Suite that features Old Hickory furniture and beautiful décor. The prominent, king size bed highlights this room hosting a supremely comfortable - Plush pillowtop mattress with rich linens. The height of this bed allows you to see the entire panoramic view of Lake Superior out the bay windows that encase the complete front of the bedroom. There is nothing better than watching the sunrise/moon rise from your bed! The suite features a Jacuzzi tub at the windows edge for retreating into after a long day on the shore. There is an adjoining bathroom with heated floors, a closet, and attached toilet/shower room.

Queen Suite - On 2nd floor. A favorite layout for two couples who come to the shore to each have their own private suite! This bedroom features an upscale richly designed room that exudes the feel of the North Shore. A comfortable, queen-sized Old Hickory log bed with matching large dresser with many drawers. An adjoining, full private bath with heated floors, tub/shower combo.

Third Bedroom - On the main level home. "Small" private room, with a comfortable Queen-sized bed. The bed is closer to one wall by the window. A closet and suite case table. This bedroom has a bathroom located just outside the bedroom with heated floor, and shower.

LIVING ROOM - DINING - KITCHEN:
Alas---walk down the hall to a "grand view" out the large, floor to ceiling windows showcasing Lake Superior back drop to the open design of the kitchen, dining, and living rooms.

Truly an upscale "North Shore" retreat! Old Hickory & Flexsteel furniture, and our Old Hickory dining table & 4 chairs (2 folding chairs are in closet to seat six easily). Our guests say they love the homey feel relaxing in the living room surrounding the fireplace to sit in comfort and talk about their wonderful day on the shore. Loving the ambiance of the sound of crashing waves on our shoreline or being mesmerized gazing at Lake Superior and the beautiful sun/moon rises! This open layout provides constant enjoyment for everyone of beautiful Lake Superior!

The kitchen features granite counters with handsome Hickory cabinets. While preparing food at the counter facing the lake, you have access to the sink (with disposal), and the bar height counter to visit with your family and friends seated on the other side.

The kitchen is complete with a dishwasher, refrigerator (no ice maker), full size stove/oven, and microwave. It is organized & well-appointed with the pots/pans/bakeware to make your meals. We provide various basic spices to aide in cooking your delicious meals. We provide coffee beans, various teas, & hot chocolate.
We provide tin foil, plastic wrap, zip lock bags, paper towels and dish/hand/dishwasher soaps, kitchen towels. The cupboards are filled with white porcelain dishes, drinking glassware, wine glasses and pretty flatware that make a lovely up-north table. You can enjoy your meal at the dining room table or out on the deck table to revel in the panoramic view and entrancing sounds of Lake Superior!

Since 2014 we have served over 450 guests and many repeat guests. Our home has evolved into an upscale "boutique vacation home rental" thanks to all our guests and repeat guests we continue to keep this dream retreat alive! Our reviews speak to how clean and well cared for Superior's Joy is.

We pay well for our excellent cleaning team. We strive to use "most" cleaning products to be natural eco and human friendly. We manage our property ourselves and that has allowed us to keep this a well-maintained home. We have a maintenance man to take care of any issues that would need addressing right away so always text/call if an issue arises.

We are part of a quiet community of 26 privately owned residential town homes that are not owned or operated by any resort, hotel or lodge. A vacation by owner rental allows travelers to experience a vacation out of the congested resort or hotel settings. You become part of our friendly community of owners and guests. Our vacation home is centrally located just off Minnesota scenic North Shore drive Highway 61 and surrounded by some of the premier vacation state park destinations in Minnesota. The closest park being Split Rock Lighthouse which is one of the most visited and photographed lighthouses in the nation! It is hard to beat our location for travelers who want to be centrally located and capture “all” the shore has to offer.

We think you will agree, due to the nature of the shores length, if you are too far northeast or southwest you get trapped into only seeing part of the shore when you visit, but our location meets the needs of the travelers who want to see it all!! Or, remain in this beautiful section of the shore and enjoy the many premier Minnesota favorite destinations near us. Where you can walk to local restaurants, ride bike trail, Ranger/snowmobile trails all right out our door!

This cottage has a large front deck overlooking Beaver Bay. In the distance you can see Lake Superior. The view also overlooks the backyards of several neighbors and the ATV Trail. You can use our cottage as your base for hiking, bicycling, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, riding your ATV or Snowmobile, exploring the State Parks, touring waterfalls or simply relaxing. For a local treat try eating at the Rustic Inn just 12 miles away.

The space
We call this cottage duplex Agate. The other side, called Birch, is also a small cottage rented through AirBNB. A common interior fire-wall splits the building into two separate cottages; they share a large front deck. On entering the cottage you are in the galley kitchen and living area. A bathroom with shower and bedroom complete the cottage. Everything that you need for your escape UP NORTH is included. Just drive up with your hiking boots, bicycle or a good book and prepare to relax and enjoy! I've included any bathroom amenities that you may need--shampoo, soap and lotion. In the kitchen you can prepare coffee or tea (or any food that you may have brought along). There is a fridge, range, dishwasher, microwave, coffee pot and toaster in the kitchen. You can relax in the living area and watch TV, nap or read. Or, you may choose to sit on the front deck and gaze at the Lake.
Exploring the area is always an adventure in any season--we are right on the ATV/Snowmobile Trail. The Gitchi Gammi Bicycle trail is just 2 blocks down the hill and the Superior Hiking Trail is out your door and a short hike on the ATV trail. A great cross country, single track groomed ski trail leads you into the woods in Silver Bay. Tettegouche, Split Rock and Gooseberry State Parks are within 12 miles of Beaver Bay. Drive a bit further to Crosby-Manitou, Temperance River and Cascade River State Parks.

Guest access
The entire Agate cottage is yours to enjoy. The front deck is shared with guests from Birch cottage. The gardens are for everyone's enjoyment, so wander around and enjoy the humming birds and butterflies. The hillside behind the cottages is also part of our property, and there is a short trail to a small bench on the side of the hill where you can sit and gaze at the Lake.

No smoking in the unit. If you are a smoker and need to light up please sit by the fire pit.
We do not allow the use of any drugs anywhere on the property. Including these legalized recreational drugs: cannabis, marijuana, and THC.

Your peaceful exploration destination starts here. Located at the end of a dead-end road, surrounded by pines and birch in the middle of 4 acres. Partial Lake Superior view from the studio windows, the 2nd floor of a detached garage. Very quiet, no drive-by traffic, and secluded from neighbors. If you're traveling to visit the sights and explore the North Shore you'll fit right in.

The space
Enjoy this unique setting, as you enter through the man door on the garage you'll notice the nice man cave, this area of the building is not private, but guests are welcome to hang out, socialize, cook, etc. Through another door inside you will enter a stairwell leading up to the second floor studio which is private and all yours to enjoy while staying here.

Partial lake view from front windows! One bedroom with a double bed, a 3/4 private bathroom with a giant great room that has an additional queen bed. TV and WiFi, TV entertainment via internet for apps like NETFLIX, DVD player, mini fridge, and microwave for you to use. The whole upper floor is private and yours while you enjoy your stay. It is roughly 890sqft. There is ample parking for trailers in my driveway/parking lot.

Below the Studio exists the Man Cave. There is a gas range/oven and full sized fridge to use with a tub style sink, some basic cookware is supplied for the apartment. I’ve also now added silverware, plates, bowls, various utensils, and a cutlery set for your convenience. Please wash any items you use and return them to storage before checking out.

The shop is heated, sledders may thaw out their gear and sleds there. Sleds must have wheel dolly's for skis! There is direct access to the snowmobile trail from my property as well. Other nearby attractions are the bike trail, Superior hiking trail, local bars, restaurants, and gas stations all within walking/biking distance. Explore the Northshore!

Freshly remodeled and pet fur free. It is the right half of the building. Our goal is to be your destination to stay when you adventure up the north shore. Enjoy fresh local coffee and an entire kitchen in the morning. After a full day of adventure this home is a great place to relax and recover in the evening. It is a short walk (about 1.5 blocks) to the scenic views and lakeshore access at the mouth of the beaver river. Coming soon: remainder of trim, more art, bar counter in the hallway, sliding barn door in bedroom, and two decorative reclaimed wood walls.

All of the Adventure House unit and the back yard. We will be working on creating a relaxing space out back and setting up a fire pit in the future. Note that the other half of the building is an office. Please avoid the messy basement.

To be crystal clear our property is not on water nor does it have a view of the water. It is conveniently located on Main/Hwy 61 for a quick walk (1.5 blocks) toward Canada to access the rocky beach on the right via a small hiking path. This is a public beach on Lake Superior. There is an even nicer and easier access beach called Black Beach up a couple miles on the right. 4 adult and 2 child snowshoe sets available for use.

The apartment is over an operating seasonal business. There are stairs to access the space. There is a large living room, fully stocked kitchen with dinning area. A large bathroom with a walk in shower. The main bedroom has a king bed, with a little balcony with chairs and coffee table. There is a second bedroom down the hall with a queen bed.

Other things to note
NO PETS. Although we love animals, this property does not allow pets. We do have our own dogs, that come and go from this space, so we would like to avoid any marking, other dogs might make. Thanks for understanding.

Thorson's Landing is a beautiful and unique home nestled on a gorgeous Lake Superior overlook near the town of Silver Bay, Minnesota. The home boasts an expansive beach and incredible sweeping lake views and is pet-friendly, so bring the whole family!

Inside the home, you will find a spacious living area on the main level. The living has a wood-burning fireplace and a walkout to the lake-facing deck. The kitchen has granite countertops and stainless appliances. The only thing missing is a dishwasher. Enjoy your home-cooked meals at the home's dining room table, with room for everyone! The open-layout living space allows groups to spend precious vacation moments together, no matter what they are doing. But, should you want a little separation, there is a bonus living room on the lower level. This living room has a television, a game table, and a variety of board games to play during your stay.

All three bedrooms are located on the upper level of the home. Two of the three bedrooms have Lake Superior views and one has a lake-facing balcony. Each bedroom has plenty of space and room to unpack and unwind during your stay. You'll notice there are more beds than the occupancy allows- this is to give families flexibility on where everyone sleeps, allowing kids to sleep in the same room as parents if they are more comfortable there. The maximum occupancy is six guests. Two bathrooms complete the inside of the home- one of which has a washer/dryer.

However, outside the home is the real pride and joy of Thorson's Landing. The lake-facing deck and balcony are great for taking in the beauty of Lake Superior while you sip on a cup of coffee or even enjoy a summertime BBQ. You can also take a stroll down to the Lake Superior Shoreline. Thorson's Landing has one of the largest shorelines along the North Shore. You have over 800 feet of combination rock and sandy shoreline to enjoy. There's so much space and room to hunt for agates (which we hear are plentiful!), that you could easily spend your entire vacation exploring the shoreline! The shoreline area also has a seating area.

Thorson's Landing is the perfect vacation destination for someone looking for some peace and quiet on a beautiful stretch of Lake Superior's shoreline. You simply cannot beat the views or the beach at this home!

Lake Access Note: Access to the shoreline is down a steep gravel road. No cars are allowed so you will need to walk up and down. This may be challenging for anyone with mobility issues or young children.

Thorson's Landing is located off of Highway 61 between Silver Bay and Little Marais in Lake County, Minnesota. Here, you are just a few short miles away from Tettegouche State Park. Silver Bay and Beaver Bay are two nearby towns with dining and shopping options. You are also just a short drive up the shore to the towns of Schroeder and Tofte. Temperance River State Park is located between the two towns. The home is about half an hour from the Lutsen Mountains ski area and a 50-minute drive to the town of Grand Marais.

Thorson's Landing is located in a very private area. There are no visible neighbors from the home and only a couple of houses visible from the shoreline area. The shoreline area is private to the home, not public. Signs clearly mark the property lines so you know exactly how much space you will have to explore. Enjoy!

Guests have full access to the cabin, attached garage, and surrounding property, with the exception of the detached garage/shed. Access to the washing machine is limited to guests staying 4+ nights.

Other things to note
-Absolutely no weddings/elopements with more than 6 guests present on the property at any given time.
-The upstairs bedroom with queen bed is an open area without a private door.
-Being an off-grid type of property, we're limited to satellite wifi. It's usually fast enough for video calls and streaming but ultimately subject to signal strength and number of devices on the network.
-The staircase is steep so guests with young children or limited mobility should be mindful of this when booking.
-Black flies can be a problem up and down the North Shore. While we have the cabin professionally sprayed, we are in the middle of the woods so you may encounter flies, mosquitos, and other insects during your stay.
-A 4-wheel-drive vehicle is required for accessing the cabin during months with potential for snow/ice (usually late November - March).

Captain's Cove is located in the heart of the North Shore's best attractions. Bike and hike right from the cabin with easy access to Gitchi-Gami bike trail, Superior Hiking trail, as well as snowmobile and atv trails. Lutsen ski area is just a 40 min drive north. We allow dogs (not other pets) on the property; however we require that guests pay a $100 non-refundable pet fee before we finalize the booking. We expect that you will clean up after your dog and let us know of any incidences. Absolutely no wet dogs allowed in the cabins.

Outdoor seating with string lights make way for the perfect evening. A charcoal grill is free to use as you please (bring your own charcoal). Enjoy using our electric barrel sauna year round (simple directions for use are located in the cabin).

For safety reasons, please do not climb on the cliffs.

Please bring your own firewood and kindling/fire starters for the campfire. Most gas stations are stocked with bundles of firewood to purchase on your way.

You are more than welcome to bring your own bikes, snowmobiles or even your boat when staying with us. We provide plenty of parking space as well as enough of an area to turn trailers around.

Our tiny home is equipped with very fast internet offering guests an easy way to work remotely if desired.

We allow dogs (not other pets) on the property; however we require that guests pay a $100 non-refundable pet fee before we finalize the booking. We expect that you will clean up after your dog and let us know of any incidences. Absolutely no wet dogs allowed in the cabin.

Outdoor seating with string lights make way for the perfect evening. A charcoal grill on the back deck is free to use as you please (please bring your own charcoal). Enjoy using our electric barrel sauna year round (simple directions for use are located in the cabin).

Guest access
During your stay you will have access to the entire luxury tiny house, fire pit area, deck and area surrounding.

For safety reasons, we recommend not climbing on the rock walls near the cabin.

Please bring your own firewood and kindling/fire starters for the campfire (unless you want to gather sticks in the woods which is completely fine with us!) Most gas stations are stocked with bundles of firewood to purchase on your way.

You are more than welcome to bring your own bikes, snowmobiles or even your boat when staying with us. We provide plenty of parking space as well as enough of an area to turn trailers around.

Enjoy a scenic piece of the North Shore in this beautiful full log home. Conveniently located near many trails and parks, it is the perfect home away from home to explore the best the area has to offer.

The space
The thing we like most about this cabin is how peaceful we feel when we enter it. The spacious and beautiful interior make it an easy place to stay for a while. The surrounding forest and large white pine are a natural frame for the view of Lake Superior that we get to enjoy from the front of the home and deck.

There are so many trails right in the area and within a 20 minute drive. Gitche Gami paved trail is across the hwy from our driveway providing a nice bike ride to Split Rock Lighthouse state park just 5 miles away. The Superior Hiking Trail and Split Rock Wilds mtn bike trail are within 1/2 mile of the cabin. Tettegouche State Park and Palisade head are 10 minutes away. The nearest public beach access is on the mouth of the Beaver River in Beaver Bay about 2 miles away.

The driveway to our property is a partially steep 1/2 mile long shared gravel road. Our personal drive is framed with trees and then opens up to expose the yard and home.

Upon entering the cabin, there is an area for shoes and coats that opens up into the kitchen, living, and dining area. The kitchen has a microwave, refrigerator with lower freezer, double sink, gas stove top and oven, drip coffee maker and is fully stocked with dishes and utensils for cooking. There is a lot of counter space. The dining area has a 6 seat table. The living room has a couch with two reclining elements, a separate reclining chair and a rocking chair to enjoy the wood stove with wood provided or watch a dvd.
The main floor bedroom has a queen bed and dressers. The bathroom has a bathtub/shower and double sink.
Upstairs in the open loft you will find boards games, a queen bed, single bed, double futon, and extra sheets and blankets.
There is an upper balcony facing into the back of the property as well as a front deck facing the lake with propane grill with provided propane, picnic table, and adirondack chairs in the warm months.

There is a firepit outside. Wood can be purchased at gas stations or road side stands. Sometimes we have some available from a tree that blew down on the property but no guarantees on that.

Heat is kept at 55 degrees with combination propane heat. You are welcome to raise the thermostat or use the wood stove to enjoy the full log cabin experience.

Everything inside is provided except personal items and food. We do provide salt, pepper, oil, coffee, and misc other basic items.

Other things to note
4WD or all wheel drive is needed in the winter to access the cabin. We do have it plowed but plan accordingly in case there is a winter storm forecast. It can take a while for the plow service to get there.
There is no WiFi, AC or TV service. There is a DVD player available. We do have ceiling fans and moveable oscillating fans available. Keeping the shades and windows closed during the day and open at night helps.

As with any other property along the North Shore on Hwy 61, there will be some road noise.

The driveway off of our main neighborhood road is long and narrow with no turnaround. We suggest backing down the drive to park.

The space
Welcome to the Windsong Retreat condo on the shores of Lake Superior. This remodeled unit includes three bedrooms, each with an attached bath, a spacious living room and dining area, and an open kitchen equipped with all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay.

Guest access
This is a two-level condo. The first floor includes the kitchen, dining area, living room, and a bedroom with two twin beds and an attached full bath. The second floor has a bedroom with queen bed and attached 3/4 bath, as well as a master bedroom with king bed and attached 3/4 bath.

Other things to note
The association has a small pool that is available for use from Memorial weekend until December 31st; it is closed from New Years until Memorial Day. There is a sauna that is open year round.

The first floor includes a wood burning fireplace (guests provide their own firewood).

The space
This classic cabin is the perfect jumping off point for all of your North Shore adventures. Beaver Bay is the oldest settlement on the North Shore of Superior, and it is clear why people have been enjoying the area for generations.

Your space consists of a quintessential North Shore cabin, modernized with an open concept living, dining, and kitchen area, all in a cozy log cabin design. Massive timber beams span the vaulted ceiling, and charming knotty pine walls provide that classic cabin feel. A large main floor master bedroom and adjoining bathroom provide a private and comfortable stay. The main floor staircase leads to a sleeping loft, with a super comfy king-sized bed. Downstairs, there is another entire living/entertainment room, bathroom, and sliding patio door to the backyard and fire pit.

The front of the house has a large covered deck to enjoy your morning coffee and soak in the activity in the area. Off the kitchen is a small deck, perfect for grilling and enjoying some peace and quiet.

The Beaver Bay Roadhouse has everything you need for a comfortable and memorable stay.

Guest access
There is a large driveway with plenty of space for three or more vehicles. Beaver Bay is a short half a mile walk along the Gitchi Game State Trail, and there is a ton of other sightseeing a short drive away. The house itself is equipped with keypad locks for easy checking in.

Other things to note
Please note that the Roadhouse is, indeed, along the highway. The traffic is regular and although from time to time a noisy truck may pass, vehicle noise is relatively limited.

The lodge does lack air conditioning; however, North Shore temps and large open windows keep the Roadhouse feeling comfortable! Please remember to shut and lock windows when you leave the property.

Tettegouche Lodge is a secluded 32-acre property near Finland, MN with a spacious 8-bedroom, 7-bathroom vacation rental house nestled into the hills three miles inland from Lake Superior. A spectacular stretch of the Baptism River runs through the property with private fly fishing locations and a swimming hole. With a capacity of up to 18 guests, the Lodge is perfect for multi-generational or multi-family North Shore vacations, retreats, creative workshops, and book club getaways.

Other things to note
6 night minimum rentals in summer (mid-June to mid-August); 4 night late August; 3 night minimum rentals the rest of the year except 4 nights for holidays. Cancellations are valid if the request is made at least 60 days in advance.

THE LODGE:
Four upstairs bedrooms each w/ ensuite jetted tub bathrooms (3 with balconies). The largest suite, Evergreen, has a king bed and a sleeper sofa.

Four additional rooms in the walkout basement w/ a variety of bedding layouts including: One king room, one queen room, a room with two full sized beds, and another king room which converts to two double long twins. Two full bathrooms are in the basement as well.

A Queen Murphy Bed is also available in the office

KITCHEN & DINING
The kitchen is designed for large gatherings, including two refrigerators plus an extra freezer, warming drawer, gas range with griddle, Bosch high-capacity dishwasher, and plenty of cabinets and shelving to store your food. Large cooking and serving dishes are provided, including a roasting pan, serving trays, and large pots and pans, along with plenty of utensils, plates, bowls and glassware. Cooking basics such as cooking oil, herbs and spices are stocked, and a propane grill is available for use on the deck just outside the kitchen.

Enjoy your meals at the expansive dining room table, custom-made in northern Minnesota, which can fit up to twelve people. The parlor and breakfast bar can seat an additional 6 or a folding table can be added to the main table for large groups. Or step outside onto the deck or screen porch to dine in the outdoors.

GATHERING PLACES:
The main family room is located on the other side of the central fireplace from the dining room and features two roomy couches centered around the fire. There is also a TV with built-in Roku with Live TV. You can log yourself into other apps for which you have subscriptions like Hulu, Netflix, or Disney+.

The parlor is located just inside the main entrance door and features another log burning fireplace, a comfortable reading or conversation setting, games, crafts, two card playing tables, a coffee/cocktail bar, and an old piano.

The main floor also houses a half-bath just off the kitchen and an expansive laundry room with SpeedQueen washer and dryer.

The basement features an open, flexible-use space. For fun and games, it has a ping pong table, foos ball table, TV with Roku, puzzles, legos, and a nugget couch (great for building forts!). Or you can clear out the space so you can use it as a yoga or meditation studio (mats provided!).

HIDEAWAYS:
During the warmer months you can relax on the couches on the screened-in porch with one of the most beautiful views of the river. Or find your own outdoor hideaway among the 32 acres of forest, streams, rock and river on the property.

If you need to focus on your writing or sneak in a few hours of work, there is a full office with a printer and monitor tucked behind the laundry room – connect your laptop using the Lodge’s high-speed wireless fiber optic internet and you can be as productive as you need to be.

THE PROPERTY:
Explore the private 32 acres and adjoining Tettegouche State Park

The Tettegouche Lodge’s thirty-two acres are yours to explore. The main feature is of course the river, which has lots of rocks to climb, a swimming hole, and excellent brook and rainbow trout fishing – just keep a close eye on young ones and be cautious, as the rocks get slippery and the slopes are steep. The wood-burning Finnish sauna is a highlight of any stay, and we have positioned the campfire for the best possible view and sounds from the river below along with a clear view of the starry sky above.

During summer, the inland lakes of Tettegouche State Park are accessible via the trail heading west past the pole barn, which connects to snowmobile trails and then hiking trails in the Park. A small beach awaits you at Nipisiquit Lake, with a picnic table and charcoal grill. Keep going down the trail and you can hike all through Tettegouche State Park, over the High Falls suspension bridge and all the way down to the Visitor Center. For easier access to a stunning Baptism River waterfall, drive 1.5 miles down Highway 1 from the Lodge to Illgen Falls, which are just a short walk from the road.

During the winter you can hike all over the Lodge property and beyond. Tettegouche State Park’s Nordic skiing trails are spectacular – we recommend driving to the Silver Bay trailhead and skiing in from there. There is even a connection to the snowmobile trail that goes through Tettegouche State Park. And for downhill skiers Lutsen Mountain is only 40 minutes away.

Welcome to CJ’s Lake House. This 5 bedroom 5.5 bath spacious Lake House sleeps 11 people. You will enjoy 3 living areas in this 3 level home. You will also appreciate the extra privacy and better sleep environment when no bedroom shares walls with another. Picture yourself having your morning coffee on your own private deck or patio overlooking a beautiful sunrise on Lake Superior.

Main Level (Entry Level) Details

Enter into a Mudroom with 2 closets where you can leave your outdoor clothing, boots and shoes. There is a half bath right off the entry for your convenience. Then, walk into an open concept kitchen, dining room and great room with fabulous windows and stunning views. The kitchen is well appointed with one gas range and one electric wall oven, microwave, dishwasher and French door refrigerator. Gather in the kitchen around the island with stools and an expandable dining table to seat 10-12. Appliances include drip and Keurig coffee makers, coffee grinder, Instant Pot, Crock Pot, blender, warming tray and toaster. The kitchen and great room both have doors opening to the main deck. A gas grill is located outside the kitchen door. As the season permits there will be a table and chairs on the deck.
Main Level also has a combination work area with desk and laundry room with an LG front load washer and dryer.
Main Level Master Bedroom #1 has a king size bed, Smart TV, electric fireplace, private deck, walk-in closet, private full bath with shower, jetted tub, and double sinks.

Upper Level Details

Loft with vaulted ceilings and stunning views to take in as you enjoy two separate chat and reading areas.

Master Bedroom #2 has a king size bed, Smart TV, gas fireplace, private balcony, closets, private bath with shower, wet bar with mini fridge and Keurig coffee maker.

Lower Level Details

Ground level walk-out living space (entertainment room) with lake views, Smart TV, electric fireplace, foosball table and games.

Bedroom #4 has a queen size bed, walk-in closet, private bath with tub/shower combination and patio to access via lower level exit door.
Bedroom #5 has two beds – one queen size and one full size bed, Smart TV, private bath with shower and one small closet.

Please note that if you plan on having children sleep in the lower level with no adults that it is a ground level walk-out. It is a very short distance to the steps that lead down to the Lake. The lake shore is rocky and rugged. For their safety, children should not be allowed access to the shore without supervision. There is a cement pad on the shore with a cement dock. There is an old marine railway where fishing boats were launched many years ago. The dock is not meant for current boat launches nor tie-ups (mooring). The water level is low and the lake can be very rough. It is a place, however, where you can take chairs and enjoy being close to the water.

If you need access for a boat, the Silver Bay Marina is only 2.2 miles away.

There are 6 steps up to main door of house and approximately 40 steps down to the private lake shore. The fishing boat down by the lake is not for use.

Parking - there is a 150 foot driveway with a parking pad at the top. This parking area will hold approximately 5 regular size automobiles. Parking on the grass is not permitted. Snowmobiles and ATVs must remain on trailers while on the property. No large RV parking and no parking on the road coming down to the property. AWD and 4WD is recommended for the winter. The roads are plowed, however the road back to Hwy 61 runs uphill.
