This houseboat features an open space including a queen bed, kitchenette, TV, bath with shower, couch that pulls out to a full size bed, screened in front area for seating to watch activities or just relax while viewing passer bys and nature, walk path for fishing, kayaks and a firepit on shore. Set the Caddo vibe for a great getaway! Docked right in the middle of all the Caddo activities and located right next to Johnsons Ranch Marina for gas (boat), drinks and some fishing needs. Also, just a hop skip and a jump to the Outpost for some quick stop groceries or good eats. After spending the day exploring what Caddo has to offer, have a relaxing evening around the fire pit by the water, or stargaze on the vast two-platform deck we just built!The biggest attractions on this lake are boating, fishing, and wildlife viewing, so don't forget your binoculars. Just down the street, you will find guide companies and a variety of tours with themes varying from science and birding to the gators! The famous Shady Glade Cafe, specializing in breakfast and lunch, is an easy walk from the home. You can book a trip with several different tour and fishing guide companies at the boat ramp. If you are looking to venture out on your own, you can head right up the road to Johnson's Ranch to rent a canoe, kayak, or even a boat to explore the tranquil waters! If you need more information, please refer to our Welcome Book that has all the information you need for any adventure.Caddo State Park provides its own kayak and canoe rentals with 50 miles of paddling trails in addition to the Caddo Forest Trail, historic cabins, and guided nature programs. There are miles of nature trails throughout the park. Less than 20 miles away, the neighboring town of Jefferson boasts multiple antique stores, quaint boutiques, and great places to eat. My favorite thing to do is go to the Port Jefferson Nature Preserve they have amazing abstract forest art throughout the boardwalk trail. Other attractions are the historical homes and Excelsior House Hotel, where you can book a walking tour, a carriage ride, and a ride on the antique train on the Jefferson Railway Express Train. You will also get to find all of your Bigfoot memorabilia here! Our hope is that you find this place as majestic as we do and share your experience with your family and friends! Once you come to Caddo Lake, you will be back! There is something mysterious about this place that is unlike anything in this world!

Only complaint was not enough parking for 4 trucks with boat trailers, and both boat stalls were filled with boats. Had to park 3 trucks at shady glade. Had to tie up our boats on outside of boat house where they all got drenched in the storm, and had to be bailed out before going fishing. Other than that, the home and amenities are wonderful. - "The hosts live super close and we met them right away. Keith was about to go for a ride in his mud boat and asked us to join him. Words cannot describe how much we enjoyed this. We seen parts Caddo Lake that most people will never see. Our room was super clean and quiet. The property is beautiful with a large well kept lawn that leads you right to the water. I can’t say enough good things about this lodge and the hosts. I hope we get to go again soon. Thank you both so such a wonderful weekend! Melvin and Cindy"

- "It was a quiet time " - "Cute place great location" - "Cute cabin for my daughter and I to spend a mother/daughter weekend. Hosts were fabulous! Great area to relax and have some downtime. Looking forward to visiting again. " - "Its was soooo beautiful our honeymoon was amazing " - "This is a very quiet and peaceful area on Caddo Lake to enjoy. Loved being able to walk in friendly neighborhood and not worry about safety. There is a cafe with pier you can enjoy a sunset, all within walking distance. The unit is tucked away behind another cabin. Little misleading in photos-thought we would have a large lot. That closeness was not great, but luckily we had quiet neighbors. Some landscape work was needed such as tree limbs trimmed away, grass needed mowing, and trim bushes that were hiding the house numbers. The inside has older furnishings but everything worked just fine. The air conditioner definitely worked and we were extremely comfortable. The view from large sliding doors was peaceful. Had issue with TV but was corrected. Owner Chris came by the second day we were there to make sure everything was working. He apologized for the appearance-but there had been a lot of raining and that certainly slows maintenance. Overall, if you want a place to stay while enjoying peace and quiet on Caddo Lake, this is a good choice."

- "What a comfortable home with one of the most beautiful views of Lake Caddo! The location of the home is perfect to both marinas/boat landings on Caddo Lake/Cypress Rd area. We had so much fun kayaking around the lake and walking to the local marina and outpost. Ping pong was also a fun way to unwind in the evenings! It was a very peaceful getaway from our normal routine with beautiful sites of nature around us and the inside of the home was comfortable and clean, with a well appointed kitchen for anything you need when 900 miles away from home! If we didn't live so far away we would definitely be back! The property manager was also very helpful and great in their communcations with us!!"

- "This was a perfect place for my husband and I to get away for a few days. It was right across the road from the lake which was perfectly fine with us because it kept the bugs away. We could easily cross the road and enjoy sunrises and sunsets just the same. The space was perfect just for us and it was so quiet and peaceful during the night. Every time I reached out to the owner, they were very quick to respond. The little town it is located in was also really fun to explore and very accommodating for some meals. If you are thinking about some time spent in the cedars, this would be a great place to stay. I know we will be back."

- "Very nice property. Clean and cozy. Had a lot of rustic character. " - "Very nice and very clean! Close to boat ramp." - "In town for a photoshoot and this spot was perfect for a big group!" - "The house was nicely done. Everything we could have needed was in the kitchen. Even a crock pot (I took mine in case). The water pressure and temp was very good. We didn’t run out of hot water even with 7 people showering. We enjoyed the corn hole, canoes, etc. No one complained about the beds, so I’d say they were satisfactory."

- "It is a good location by the lake, you have many boats available to use. Beautiful room and deck in the yard. Just found some ladybugs by the window. shower is a little small. Others are good. " - "Had a great time out on caddo and a good location. The house is perfect size. The ac was not able to cool the house down on a day that was above 94 degrees outside. Hope they can fix that. The write up says that you share the peir with another property. It was used by all in the community. Alot of people at the peir all the time. So if you wanted it to be for just your family it may not be if the other properties are rented. Community Pier for other properties they own. People were all friendly and had no problems met nice people. I could not give this property a perfect 5 star but everything was good. Understand that caddo has older houses out there. But on hot days the ac is important. "

- "Very accommodating hosts. will be back." - "Very nice" - "The lodge is located at the lakeside, you can easily access the lake. Free boats and life jackets are available for the guests to use, which is very nice! The room is clean and cozy, the only downside is the Wi-Fi signal in this room (#3) is terrible, I literally had no Wi-Fi to use in the room, you get some signal on the side of Room #1 and #2, and the BBQ area. The TV remote controller was also missing, we managed to manually adjust the TV channels. The wall is thin, and the guests next to us kept TV on all night long, it was loud enough that we could hear every single word from their TV. So we barely had any sleep that night. I communicated the situation with the property host by message, no response from her. Luckily the guests checked out on the 2nd day, so it was good afterwards. you want to bring food since there are no restaurants in that small town. Overall, I think the location is the best, the room condition can be improved. I would recommend staying in this lodge, just try to book Room #1 or 2 so you will get a better Wi-FI signal."

Enjoy the beauty & relaxation that Caddo Lake has to offer at the Kingfisher Cabin. Our tiny home is nestled in the Goose Prairie area, located between 2 boat launches (Crip's Camp & Johnson's Ranch). We have the unique ability to provide MULTIPLE bed configurations to meet guest(s) needs -1 King , 2 twins or 1 twin. There are 2 COMPLEMENTARY kayaks for guest(s) use. Life jackets are required, & use of all equipment is at your own risk. Pets welcome, however we have a 1 pet &20lb size limit.

The space
The Kingfisher Cabin is a fully furnished open concept tiny home with a bedroom, kitchen, and a full bathroom with a spacious antique clawfoot tub.
Our day bed allows for multiple configurations to fit any guests' unique needs. It can be arranged as two twin beds to allow sleepers their own space or it can be converted into a king size bed for those who wish to keep loved ones close by. Single guests can utilize a single twin bed that would give them extra space if they so desire (see photos for all three possible bed configurations).
There is also a living and dining area where Wi-fi and a smart tv that includes Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Disney Plus and multiple apps is available. Although the Kingfisher cabin shares its main entrance and campfire area, it has its own parking spot and its own combination lock for easy access.
Special note concerning the bathroom entrance: It is 5 feet, 8 inches high. However, inside the bathroom there is a cathedral ceiling at least 6 feet high at the highest point.

Guest access
The Kingfisher Cabin is located within walking distance from Johnson's Ranch or Crip's Camp boat launch and marina. Also within walking distance is the Caddo Lake Outpost where numerous grocery basics can be purchased. Across the street from the Caddo Lake Outpost is the Karnack Flea Market. No more than a 10 minute drive you can find several seafood and country cooking restaurants (Riverbend and Shady Glade Restaurants are the closest). While staying at the Kingfisher Cabin, you will have your own parking space.
Parking is usually not an issue while visiting area attractions. Our cabin is located only a short drive from Caddo Lake State Park and the Longhorn National Wildlife Refuge. Please check each attractions website for operating hours as many of them are only open on specific days of the week.

Other things to note
-Pets welcome, however we have a 1 pet & 20lb size limit.
-For those guests who wish to fish Caddo Lake, you must have a valid Texas or Louisiana Fishing license. If you are fishing at the State Park, you will not have to purchase one.
-Our cabin is also located near one of the largest Texas public hunting properties in the state. You must purchase a public hunting permit to hunt all types of game animals during regular seasons. However, if hunting is not what you enjoy, you can purchase a public access pass that will allow you to venture onto the public lands for day use, photography or hiking.
-We have a camera on the premise on an adjacent cabin that faces the driveway and the front door. The camera is used only to notify host when guests arrive and depart during their stay.

Caddo Lake Cabins sits on about an acre of fenced land in a park-like setting. There’s plenty of yard for outdoor fun! It’s out in the country where there are no city lights to interfere with star gazing. Ferry Lake Road dead ends into Caddo Lake. The only traffic is residents of the street.

The house is far from perfect. It is clean and well kept. Everything works as it should.
It is not a princess palace. It is rough around the edges. It offers you the great outdoors and a place to stay. Caddo Lake State park is also near by with hiking, boat & kayak rentals along with boat tours, fine dining and beautiful views. New Internet wireless broadband provides excellent service and enhances cell phone coverage too at Pelican Place!
Boating, Fishing, Kayaking/Canoeing, and Photography are great activities at Pelican Place on Caddo Lake but No Swimming is allowed. The area is not suitiable for swimming.

Please reach out with any questions. There is a BBQ grill on site and the kitchen should have everything you need for cooking. Also, please be respectful of the neighbors and only use the property directly behind Pelican Place that includes the concrete boat ramp and the waterfront area to the North of the concrete ramp. The other side is private property with people living there full time. Signs are posted. Thank you for your cooperation and following all house rules including quiet time after 10pm.

It’s out in the country where there are no city lights to interfere with star gazing. Ferry Lake Road deadends into Caddo Lake. The only traffic is residents of the street.

The second story offers and amazing view of the area and we enjoy sitting on the screened in porch and watching the boats drive by. There are ceiling fans that keep the space cool and the screened in porch keeps any pests at bay..

Gorgeous well stocked kitchen and 2 big bedrooms and a bath that is simply stunning. The kitchen offers the ability to cook a full meal easily with a gas oven and really, its so pretty in this area I enjoy cooking! A huge country table allows all to sit down and enjoy a big breakfast as you plan your activities on Caddo Lake! The living area is spacious and comfy! The kids can watch tv or play games and you can rest and enjoy all the nature this home has to offer. The utility offers a washer and dryer. Simply stated , this home is heaven!
