- "First, this location is a block off the quarter. Makes access to all French Quarter sites walkable. Jackson Square a little far but still doable. Security of building was first rate. Check in process was easy. Liked this location as it’s close enough to the action without being in the middle of it (noise, etc). Now, the unit itself. Plenty clean and orderly. Kitchen isn’t stocked with much. But has glasses, bowls, plates. Dining table was unstable and we were afraid to use it much. TV had streaming only, couldn’t watch The Masters as we couldn’t access cable type channels. No wash clothes in the bathroom…if you’re gonna have liquid soap, you need wash clothes. And the bed…highly recommend the mattress be changed. It was extremely hard, beyond firm. Had no cushion to it. You can certainly rely on this place for good location and generally who cares about a kitchen when you have all the great FQ food nearby; however, comfort is important. A few things made me drop this from a 4 to 3 rating, the bed being the main thing. "

The Laurel is a one-suite bed and breakfast with private bath, sunroom and private gated entry located in the heart of Mid-City. The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and the Endymion Mardi Gras Parade are both a 10-minute walk away. The French Quarter and Central Business District are just a 10-minute drive away. There is a bus stop and the street car line within walking distance (5 minutes) which runs to both of these destinations. It is in a residential neighborhood and is only a 5-minute walk to City Park and The New Orleans Museum of Art.

Guests are requested to provide an estimated time of arrival on the arrival day. Airline and flight numbers are appreciated.

Guests enter through the main gate at 3626 Delgado then proceed to the upper front porch and ring the doorbell.

There are two cats who reside at the Laurel, Billy & Koshka (from Russia!).

We offer a continental breakfast of croissants, muffins, assorted pastries, orange juice, coffee/tea. Special requests for non-cooked items are welcomed (yogurt, cereal, etc).

The private guest area sunroom has a mini refrigerator with ice trays/freezer, dishes, utensils, coffee maker & cups. A microwave oven is also in the guest area. Ground coffee and condiments are provided.

Guests use the private entrance, which brings them directly into the sunroom portion of the guest suite.

Our rate is based on single & double occupancy. There is no discount for single occupancy or waiving breakfast. There is an additional charge of $30/person per night for more than 2 persons. The double size sleeper sofa in the sunroom is available for guest #3 & #4.

We do not allow smoking, candles, oil lamps, incense or any other flammable items in the house or on any of the porches.

We cannot host children younger than 15 years old.

There is plenty of on-street parking and off-street parking is available upon request.

The home is a beautiful 2-story stucco structure with a red Spanish tile roof. It is architecturally unique and interesting with its arched doorways and doors. The original structure is intact with very few changes to the original design. There are original wood floors and ceramic tiles which have been beautifully restored. The long center hallway serves as the perfect photo gallery for Eliot's photos.

The raised front porch and the front courtyard-style patio is wonderful and a great place to just sit and do nothing. The corner lot offers a beautiful view of the peaceful surroundings of the neighborhood.

Guests can enjoy City Park's Museum of Art, botanical gardens and new walking park.

Laura and Eliot Kamenitz have owned and resided in their home since May 1995. They are the fifth and current owners of this 1924 raised cottage-style house. Laura is a retired Chemical Engineer and Eliot is a retired professional Photographer.

Saturday our temperature in our rooms in the evening was 95.we were told by customer service to open the windows to allow the rooms to cool off because it was cold outside in New Orleans. It was 70 degrees and a little bit humid. I don’t know about you, but I don’t like leaving windows open that have no screens on them as that is not a very safe option. We had to complain multiple times and they brought fans to our room to try to cool the rooms off without success really. It was only until our very last night when they turned the air conditioners on Roami Steve said they would give us a 20% off discount for two nights for a total of 90 off our bill for having four evenings of unbearable, warm and uncomfortable temperatures. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend anyone to stay at this place. I feel their compensation for the lack of temperature control was not and is not adequate. When you rent a VRBO, you should be able to control your own room temperature. You can do that in a hotel. You should be able to do it through Vrbo."

Picked the St. Charles Roami because it was the closest and most affordable place to the conference hotel, but I’m so glad I did! I tried to make the most of the situation by simply rolling it up and putting it to the side as the property itself was very pretty. Lots of history and just the right amount of renovations. The next night I dropped an earring and it rolled under the bed. My husband went under to retrieve it and to our surprise there were actually several items under the bed. One of which was what appeared to be a broken crackpipe. I reached out to management and they later reached back out to let me know that they could send someone up to get it or I could toss it. The property itself was great, but the dirty rug and the shotty housekeeping will prevent any future stays at this property location for me. The unbothered tone from the management team was also off putting. "

We love to host guests in the city, but we understand if you are looking to do things on your own - just let us know if you need anything! We do travel ourselves, but there will always be someone to check in with you!

Other things to note
We have two large dogs named Billie Holiday and Boudreaux, but they do not have access to your space. However, since the room is part of the house, you will hear them when they are in the house.

We also have two young children.

Our house, though renovated, is over 100 years old and noise tends to echo because of the high ceilings and wood floors.

Additionally, we live about a block and a half from a sometimes quite noisy train that runs at night. The train must sound its horn because there is no barricade that goes down when the train passes. We provide earplugs in the room. The city is supposedly working on this as it is a nuisance to the whole neighborhood.
