Beautiful 3 bedroom, 2 bath home located on the historic Suwannee River. Get away from it all. Easy access to Fanning Springs (1.5 miles up river) and Manatee Springs (7 miles down river). Bring a boat, or two 2-person kayaks available for use. Great views from the deck and dock that overhangs the river. Very peaceful.
Most people that know the Suwannee River feel that the home's location is fantastic, and the best of all the options. The river in this area is very large and grand, especially compared to up river where it can be quite narrow and crowded. It's size makes it great for skiing, tubing, and boating, and dealing with other boaters isn't really an issue. It is far enough up river (about 32 miles by boat) that you don't have the biting yellow flies of the coast, but close enough to boat down to the coast and back for fishing, or spending the day on your own private secluded island beach. The area has very little development as well, so you get the real sense of being in "old world" Florida. It truly is a unique, wonderful experience.
Please note: cell service may be limited. We have wi-fi with Starlink which works pretty quickly. There is no cable TV, however, we do have ROKU's connected to both TV's. You are welcome to log into your streaming services, but, please be sure to log out when you leave the home so other guests can't use your services. This property is quite rustic and remote, and is a great way to get away from it all. However, there is limited access to cellular phone service. Please understand the nature of your get away before booking.
Master bedroom with king bed, guest bedroom with king bed, and kids room with two bunk beds each with trundles. Easily sleeps 10.
One of the more common questions we get is regarding docking a boat at the property. You have a few options with regards to keeping a boat on the Suwannee River (flow of the river and boat wakes are a problem). Approximately 1/2 mile down the road from our rental house is a public boat ramp which is not very busy, and easy to launch/retrieve your boat. That is the preferred method and would take less than 30 mins.
Leaving the boat in the water with the current and other boaters creating wakes is possible, but not optimal. One option would be to tie the boat to the dock which is cantilevered over the river and anchor the aft section in the river (might require swimming to shore unless you are creative). There is room to keep a boat, trailer and vehicle at the property.
- "Gorgeous sunrises on the river. Right up the road from Fanning springs. Large house can accommodate large families. Just bring the kids and enjoy the springs!" - "Wonderful property very relaxing" - "Fantastic property on the beautiful Suwanee River. An amazing and awesome home and so well equipped" - "10/10 would book again. The place was surprisingly spacious with a comfortable living room and a beautiful, updated kitchen. The back porch was perfect for breakfast with our family and guests while overlooking a great backyard area where our dog enjoyed running in circles. But the true highlight of the stay was the deck overlooking the beautiful Suwanee River. So peaceful and restorative. Just a lovely weekend."

Enjoy sitting around the firepit or watching the sturgeons jumping by while sitting on the floating dock. In the winter you may see a manatee. Nature at it's best.

Approximately 1/2 mile down the road from our rental house is the Fanning Springs boat ramp.
Leaving the boat in the water with the current and other boaters creating wakes is possible, but not optimal. You can tie-off to the floating dock but you would need several good boat-bumpers. Again, the current and boat wakes put your boat at risk unless you are careful, and we are not responsible for boat damage or lost boats. There is room to keep a boat, trailer and vehicle at the property.
- "We saw a couple of sturgeon jumping above the water during our stay there. My son and I enjoyed the two-person kayak. It is a very peaceful place to stay and is close to all amenities, just a few minutes away from the grocery store, etc. There is no WiFi, but they do have DirecTV, so we were able to find something to watch while relaxing. We didn't even watch the DVDs we brought with us. We have AT&T and Verizon networks, which are not strong but enough to research and browse some things. Additional information: My husband is 6'1" and needs to duck his head on one of the door. If someone is a few inches taller, say 6'5, they would hit their head on the fans, so taller people may not like it very much. I am 5'1", and it does not bother me, but it may be an issue for tall people out there."

- "Laura’s property was perfect for what we were looking for in our vacation. We love to explore new places in our boat and this property was a perfect base for our boating adventures. With it’s own boat ramp and beautiful, huge dock on a canal away from boat wakes was a real bonus. We cruised to the Gulf of Mexico (28.3 miles) and cruised up river to the many crystal clear springs and also went up the Santa Fe River and then up the crystal clear Ichetucknee River. Laura’s home was well maintained and furnished well with a very comfortable bed. A huge bonus was the dumb waiter to get luggage to the elevated home. Laura is a perfect host and now, my friend."

- "First of all John is an amazing host. Second - John has an amazing RV. Third - John's RV sits on the Suwannee river, which will mesmerize everyone with it's natural beauty. It was perfect for our family of four." - "John was the perfect host. He greeted us when we got there, showed us around our RV and invited us on a boat ride on the Suwannee. My husband loves to fish and he made that experience an enjoyable one. The RV was clean, quiet, with the amenities you need and don't want to travel with - towels, pots and pans, coffee pot, toaster, microwave, etc. He even had bikes that we used for a little jaunt around the neighborhood. I HIGHLY recommend this for anyone who just needs to disengage from the busy-ness of it all and you just want to rest, relax, and listen to the sounds of nature with a beautiful river in your view."

Located approximately a mile from the famous Historic Suwannee River, there are multiple boat ramps, docks and parks within five to ten minutes from the house, not to mention a couple of hunting areas around the county and neighboring counties. Scalloping is very popular along the Gulf of Mexico beach areas (this is NOT the beach you’ll see in places like Destin, just a heads up). Our county in Florida boasts the tagline “Heart of Every Nature Coast,” and “Florida’s Hidden Coast,” and websites claim that the fishing and scalloping experienced cannot be matched; a playground for both freshwater and saltwater enthusiasts alike. *Scalloping season is only from late July through September (check FWC’s information for regulations each year).*
Internet search “boat ramps Old Town, Florida” for a list of around 15 options in the local area, to include the town of Suwannee, Jena and Horseshoe.
For more water activities, you must add our natural freshwater springs to your itinerary! Fanning Springs State Park is only 10 minutes (7 miles) away! Otter Springs, Hart Springs and Manatee Springs are all within a half an hour drive. The self-proclaimed Springs Capital of the World, Gilchrist County is just over the bridge, about twenty minutes away. There, and in the surrounding areas, you can find many, many freshwater springs (and their spring runs/rivers) that provide fun opportunities for diving, swimming, snorkeling, kayaking and tubing. Lazy days galore!
Hiking trails are prevalent at most of the parks in the area so bring your hiking boots if you’re looking for some exercise, nature and seeking wildlife!

- "Very clean and peaceful. The home is generally well- appointed and tastefully decorated. However, we would suggest replacing the short toilets with normal-sized ones to better accomodate taller persons. The owners are accomodating and thoughtful and have all the bases covered in providing the things needed for a pleasant stay. In the write up, they emphasize that they are featuring their rental property as a retreat of sorts, but my wife and I would have enjoyed having the option to watch TV, as we failed to read the write up as carefully as we should have and were therefore disappointed that there was no TV reception. Not the owners fault, as they make that clear."

Everything we needed (besides food and drink of course) was there and the host was very responsive and answered all my questions promptly. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. The area was close to our office for our business trip and was very comfortable. Plenty of space to hang out and the morning views of the river were amazing! Very highly recommended!"

We have a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom house right on the Suwannee River. The house is 1/2 mile off of US 19 with paved roads straight to our address. The house has an upstairs covered deck right outside the living room with ceiling fans and comfy patio furniture to watch all the river activities. It has a two story covered floating aluminum dock with swinging chairs as well as space to accommodate your boat or jet skies. There is a public boat ramp about 1 mile down the river near the Suwannee Belle Landing, a great local restaurant with access via boat or car. Our kitchen is fully stocked with new pots, pans, dishes, cups, and most anything you might need. There is also a grocery store just 1/2 mile away for your convenience.
- "This beautiful home, the property and the setting are all just beautiful! We thoroughly enjoyed every minute we spent here. From feet dangling in the brown river water to morning coffee and evening snacks on the porch - this place brings peace to the soul. I grew up very near this property, swimming and boating on the River. I hate to tell how wonderful a time we had and how lovely the home is - just bc I’m selfish like that. Owners were so responsive and pleasant, as well! Loved it."

- "The barn was so cute, rustic, with everything we needed. Quiet. I'll be back in the summer to go to the Springs! Before I got the Wifi password, I had limited signal and had to contact owner. He was very responsive. Then I had an operator issue (my fault) on the door lock. He responded in seconds. BTW, this is not Handicap accessible. There are several stairs for the bedrooms. " - "What a hidden gem! Very clean, soft beds with good pillows! A great escape with no traffic noise, just birds and farm sounds. Very well equipped for a longer stay, if only I had more time. This is one we will come back to for sure!"

Hosts were great and very responsive to all our questions." - "It was a very comfortable and relaxing quiet stay for the weekend, exactly what we were looking for. All of the amenities worked great with no issues. Cute collection of farm animals around that you’re allowed to visit. Nice fire you can make outside! Being able to watch TV and settle in for the night was awesome. One of the best things was being able to bring my two emotional support dogs with permission, of course. We would definitely stay here again next time we’re in the area visiting family! Thanks again!! "

- "I absolutely loved this property. Quiet area, extremely clean, and had everything we needed. The beds were noisy, but i found them comfortable. The goats were amazing, the cows next door were great to watch. Trenton, while not a big place, had a great little grocery store. Close to the springs. Will stay again definitely." - "We enjoyed the stay. It was nicely finished and clean. We had a great time and for us the location was perfect. We would rent again if they got new beds. Here’s the negatives: We did not enjoy the beds, which were thinner foam mattresses on cheap creaky metal frames. The house has only 1 bathroom, apparently there is another outside, but we did not see it or use it. The electric on demand water heater was going from cold to hot during showers. I drive a 3/4 ton 4x4 truck, so we were fine but the driveway ends and you drive through the yard to the house. This might add to the charm of the property but I would prefer a driveway: be aware that after accepting your booking and credit card they will require you to text/email a copy of your drivers license with photo. They have a washer and dryer, but did not provide laundry detergent."
