- "This property was just absolutely perfect for us and our two teenage grandsons. It was in a quiet and peaceful area that was perfect for sitting outside in the mornings with a cup of coffee, the large live oaks with their Spanish moss hanging down added to the tranquility. Nice area to relax after a long day of visiting Crystal River, kayaking or going to the beach. Everything is just 10-15 minutes away except the beach which is a half hour drive. The host, Brian, is great and took care of any small issues we had quickly and pleasantly. This amazing little hidden gem really made us fall in love with the area so much that we're now thinking about moving there. We also had great TV and Internet and everything we could have needed was there for us to use. I'm sure we'll be back for another visit soon but without the grandsons to further check out the area. Thank you Brian for everything!! We really enjoyed our stay! "

While Professor Rousseau was away on his most recent adventure, we converted his carport to a fabulous outdoor retreat complete with ample seating for all guests, a quaint fire pit, and a gas burning grill. We have provided you with many seating options to include Adirondack chairs surrounding the second wood-burning fire pit, dockside seating, a brightly colored hammock, plus your very own picnic table and private seating area right outside your back door. Nighttime comes alive with tiki torches and wonderfully lit spaces throughout the property. Bring your boat, canoe, kayak, fishing equipment, binoculars, and camera! The sights and sounds are unlike anything you have experienced by both day and night. All the wildlife here loves Professor Rousseau and you, his special guest!
THE DIFFERENCE
Professor Rousseau has a deep and personal commitment to you as his guest to provide the highest standard of cleanliness. He intends to not only meet but exceed the Airbnb 5-Step enhanced cleaning process. We will spend several hours between each stay to thoroughly clean and sanitize all surfaces plus wash every item that could have been touched or used by the guest before you.
Guest Access:
We have plenty of off-street parking for your vehicle, boats, or trailers.
We have a special parking area for boats and trailers. Please let us know if you will be bringing one so we may direct you to the parking area.
The Neighborhood:
Crystal River is best known as one of the few places in the world that vacationers may swim alongside the manatees in person during their winter refuge at Hunter Springs Park and Kings Bay. Hunter Springs Park features a sandy beach for swimmers, a kayak launch, a picnic area, plus a boardwalk for viewing manatees. Kings Bay also has a kayak launch, fishing pier, and three waterfront restaurants serving seafood, often fresh off the boat from the two waterfront fishing operations. Within a few blocks of these two iconic manatee hangouts are several incredible restaurants, cafes, and unique shopping venues on North Citrus Avenue. One of Professor Rousseau’s favorite places to shop and dine is Amy’s.
Another City close by is Dunnellon. For those of you that have decided to launch your boat and travel to the Withlacoochee and Rainbow Rivers, two notable restaurants are the Blue Gator Tiki Bar and Swampy’s. Leave early to grab your boat parking spot during busy seasons!
Check out the menus for these restaurants and more in your Adventure Oasis Home Book.
Getting Around:
If your idea of getting around includes a boat, kayak, or canoe, or if you enjoy fishing, you’ll love Professor Rousseau’s. Fish from our dock and utilize our fish cleaning station next to the shore. Launch your aquatic device from our private boat ramp or dock, and you’re on Lake Rousseau, a human-made 3,657-acre lake that offers incredible fishing opportunities. You'll find walleye, pike, smallmouth, and occasionally largemouth bass, year-round.
Safety first! The lake is full of submerged stumps that provide cover for fish. Keep in mind high-speed boating may be dangerous.
In your Adventure Oasis book, you will find a map of the boat pathway to the Withlacoochee and Rainbow Rivers which feeds our beautiful lake with water. The Rainbow River begins with a headspring basin that produces between 400-600 million gallons of freshwater per day. This river provides us with a glimpse of rare habitats full of a wide variety of fish, wildlife, plants, and looking-glass clear waters. If you would like access to the Gulf of Mexico several public boat ramps are available including one that is only a few miles away from your front door.

- "Nice place to stay. Very quiet neighborhood. Central location between Dunellon and the town of Crystal River. Had a great time boating." - "Great property that worked perfectly for our group, plenty of room and well appointed. Well positioned with direct access to all parts of the lake. Relaxing and peaceful at night. Jennifer was well connected and committed to making sure we had everything we needed. All we needed was more fish!! 😉" - "We have stayed at tons of different VRBO and other rentals. This house was one of the best. We are locals and was having problems with our own house, so we had to find something for what we thought was a few days. The host helped accommodate our needs on very very short notice. She was absolutely great. And on top of that when we first walked in the house it smelled great. And through out our whole stay the house continued to smell amazing. Our kids had so much fun fishing in the back yard and it kept them busy for hours. We will for sure be back"

- "Good location. Enjoyed stay." - "We had a great stay! At first we thought it was weird to have 2 other properties on the same property of this one but it was still very private. Privacy fence around the whole backyard! Very clean and the host was very responsive!" - "All hail King Chaz, first of his name, holder of the keys of housedom, provider of wares, and in favor of chains. His highness made all that was necessary accessible to us and with timely precision and accuracy. If there is any error, it is in our mediocre minds inability to follow instructions. Of the greatest of achievements was the fact there are no bed bugs in the dwelling. The bed was super comfy the pillows were plenty and nice and with the addition of fans, the AC filed complaints with us due to lack of use. The only flaw in an otherwise perfect vacation dwelling is the bathroom vent that blows cold air into your groin when you stand near it or your thighs and face when on the toilet, Granted, in his wisdom e multiple towels were provided and merely placing one of these over the vent solved that minor cold air on the jewels or wet body issue. The DVD library was a mystery to us because our minds were confounded at who would come all this way to sit and watch movies? But I degrees, I slept well each night, was comfy each night, the refrigerator served us we'll, the kitchen was stocked and the water was great. P.s. whenever entering or exiting a metro, mind the gap. Long live the king of the South!"

- "This place was just as described. Only one little glitch in that I didn’t pack a corkscrew!" - "Apartment near the springs" - "The location was a little hard to find. This location is a quadplex, the neighborhood wasn't quiet, neighbors verbally faught twice while we were there. The walls were very thin, could hear dog barking, someone caughing, conversations. "

This is a perfect winter spot with a million dollar view. This little 500 sq ft bungalo was just remodeled and ready for winter guests. It is a 1 bedroom with queen bed, 1 bath, living room with sleep sofa, and kitchen with private entrance and carpot. The bathroom is handicapped accessible. We are located 20 minutes frim Crystal River and 30 minutes from Ocala. You have access to a large deck overlooking the canal to the Witlacoochee River and 2 kayaks at the dock. The road dead ends into our driveway so will have no traffic in front of the house. This is a very quiet neighborhood made up of mostly retired.

Would recommend very highly !" - "This was a charming, clean cottage next to a secluded part of the river. Every day, a pair of sandhill cranes would visit. The dock was a lovely place to sit and nature watch. Our host was always helpful and warm."

- "From the outside could see the apartment front door was badly in need of a paint job and the window blind had some broken slats. Walking inside found the apartment very clean, bug free, and furniture was very acceptable but the apartment toilet, sinks, trim work, etc. need replacing. Not a great paint job on the walls. Don't believe the front door would stand up if someone tried to kick the door in. Put some running water in a glass and found it cloudy and unacceptable looking-so I wasn't going to drink it. I see potential in the property, so maybe improvements will be made."

The Space:
Professor Rousseau had you in mind when designing your space. He insisted on comfortable furnishings that include a fully equipped RV kitchen and on-site laundry facilities to name a few. While Professor Rousseau was away on his most recent adventure, we converted his carport to a fabulous outdoor retreat complete with ample seating for all guests, a quaint fire pit, and a grill. We have provided you with many seating options to include Adirondack chairs surrounding the second wood-burning fire pit, dockside seating, plus your very own private seating area right outside your doors. Bring your boat, canoe, kayak, fishing equipment, binoculars, and camera! The sights and sounds are unlike anything you may have experienced both by day and night. All the wildlife here loves Professor Rousseau and you, his special guest!
THE DIFFERENCE
Professor Rousseau has a deep and personal commitment to you as his Guest to provide the highest standard of cleanliness. We will spend several hours between each stay to thoroughly clean and sanitize all surfaces.
Guest Access:
We have plenty of off-street parking for your vehicle, boat, canoes, or kayaks.
Check out the menus for these restaurants and more in your Fishing RV Retreat Home Book.
In your Fishing RV Retreat book, you will find a map of the boat pathway to the Withlacoochee and Rainbow Rivers which feeds our beautiful lake with water.
