HIKING & SNOWSHOEING
Download All Trails to see all the trails in the area. There are a ton, but here are some of our favorites:
Storm King Mountain Trail: Right out the front door and a must-do. A semi-strenuous hike uphill, but well worth it in the end. The hike leads to Butler Hill, which is a must see. About 1-2 hours round trip depending on which path you go.
Black Rock Forest: A longer trail that starts up the road towards highway 9W. Cross under the highway to the left for access to the Hill of Pines Trailhead and White Oak Road, leading to many ponds and lakes. Could be an all-day hike depending on which paths you go.
Bear Mountain Loop Trail: About 3.8 mile moderate loop. Very popular.
Breakneck Ridge: A popular hike, and a short drive away.
Perkins Memorial Tower: a 3.8 mile out and back trail.
Anthony's Nose via Camp Smith Trail: a 6.4 mile out and back trail.
SWIMMING
You can swim in the Bear Mountain Pool, or in Hessian Lake in the summer months. Or if you’re feeling adventurous, you can hike into the Black Rock Forest and find a pond to swim in. Both are a 5 minute drive from the house, or if you’re feeling lively, a couple hours hike.

- "This was a perfect house and location for the New York stop on a longer road trip. The house was clean, well equipped and spacious. A bedroom set up for kids including a crib, books and toys was a welcome feature. It was also really peaceful with beautiful views of the pond across the street. The location was convenient for days spent in Cold Spring, Beacon, Storm King and a day in NYC." - "Everything was great - clean, spacious, great location! Perfect for our girls weekend! Host was very communicative before, during & after our stay."

I have two rental openings: The week of West Point Graduation for $300/night, and all summer - Memorial Day to Labor day. The summer rental will be $12,000.
My house is located in a quiet part of the village. You'll be away from the crowds of tourists, yet within walking distance to hiking trails, Main Street shops, and the Metro North train station (about 15-20 minutes on foot). This is not a party house. If a party is held here rental will be immediately cancelled and you will have to leave the house.
The train will take you New York City in about 90 minutes, or go north to Beacon for good restaurants and bars in 10 minutes, or Poughkeepsie and the Walkway Over the Hudson, in about 30 minutes. Travel by car across the river to the Storm King Art Center and the West Point Military Academy.
Note that my house does not have air conditioning, but there are ceiling fans in every room. There may be air conditioning installed in time for summer. Heat is baseboard radiator heat if you want to use the oil-fired boiler. I prefer to use portable electric heaters to avoid burning oil. I have solar panels that supply most of my electricity needs. I don't have an outdoor grill, a microwave, or TV. Wifi is available, and you're welcome to use my Sonos speaker system.

A large newly renovated home that would be perfect for any large family/extended family to gather in to enjoy the Hudson Valley. Enjoy the huge back deck, river views, and quick and easy walks into town and access to Metro North and NYC (75 minutes to GCT)
You have all 4 floors for your use, a driveway that parks four cars, & one stall of the garage for storage of luggage, coolers, etc a front porch with swing, and a back deck and enclosed backyard.
The space
5 bedrooms, 8 beds.
4.5 baths.
12 person max
First floor has a large open concept living and kitchen room as well as an in-law suite
Second floor contains 3 bedrooms (2 kings, 1 queen bed), one of which is a large master suite. Master suite has an office with desk and printer.
Third floor is a beautifully finished attic that serves as a 2nd living room with 3 built in beds, two of which convert from singles to kings.

The basement contains a kids play gym and a bedroom suite with queen bed, desk/work area, TV, and full bath.
The "gym" is in the garage. It has a Peloton bike, pilates reformer, a squat rack, bench, olympic barbell and weight, and pull up bars. And it stays nice and cool all summer.
Guest access
Access to everything Cold Spring has to offer within walking distance. There is parking for up to 4 vehicles and a garage for storage for your coolers, beach chairs, etc. Feel free to ask us for things to do in the area or directions. The list is long and we have maps and lots of suggestions for whatever it is you are looking for.
There are 3 closets in the basement that are locked for owner storage and are not for guest use.
Other things to note
If you have severe dog allergies this might not be the house for you. We have a large Belgian shepherd who lives in the house with us when we are there. The house will be professionally cleaned, however, and most guests have remarked about how spotless the house was when they arrived.
There is a train line that runs behind the house, so if you are an extremely light sleeper this might not be the house for you. On average there are around 3-4 trains per hour passing by but they don't run between 1 and 5 am. The house has 6 inches of spray foam insulation in the walls and we find the house very quiet and comfortable. Out of 225+ guests who visited our single room suite rental, only one has ever mentioned being bothered by the trains at night.
There will be a friend or neighborhood kid coming around at times to water plants or cut the lawn. This would be communicated ahead of time.
