The cabin is in a quiet community, located between the historic town of Jim Thorpe and Big Boulder ski resort. Surrounded by lush rhododendron on a 2-acre wooded lot, the property offers a sense of seclusion without sacrificing the security that comes with being in a community. It is a good place to relax and enjoy nature.

We will be doing renovations on the exterior of the cabin between July 1st and September 30th, 2025. The cabin will not be available any time during this blocked period. If you are interested in renting the cabin after this period, we will let you know of the changes being made, prior to your request.

The interior of the house is newly renovated. The main living area consists of a combined living room and kitchen with a vaulted ceiling. The kitchen is well equipped. The living room is comfortable (with a new reclining sofa and chair recliner) and has a cozy gas fireplace.

The Loft area has just been newly renovated into a Master Bedroom Suite with a Full Bathroom and private deck overlooking the lush rhododendron.

Outside you can relax on the lower deck or in our 4 new Adirondack chairs. There is a gas grille and table with chairs for outside dining.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
○ The charging cable for EV charging is not included - bring your own cable.
○ The TVs do not have cable or streaming subscriptions. Most popular apps are already downloaded - simply bring your own login details. The family room TV has a Chromecast that you can use to cast sports from your laptop.
○ The games room is in the garage and is not heated space. However it is insulated and has heated living areas above it, so it's not freezing and can still be enjoyed in the winter with a light jacket.
○ Please report any accidental damage as soon as it occurs.
○ Guests are responsible for any fines incurred as a result of breaking community rules (this has never happened yet).
○ The owners may store a vehicle in the garage, however it is a very large garage and there will still be space for 2 guest vehicles.
○ A golf cart is stored in the garage. Unfortunately, it's not available for guest use (for insurance reasons).
○ Guests should plan on cleaning the outdoor propane grill after use, if they use it during their stay. Cleaning supplies are located in a crate under the grill. The cleaning fee for the house does not include cleaning the grill. If the grill is left dirty then an additional fee may apply.
○ Only registered watercraft are allowed on the lake, so unfortunately guests cannot bring their own watercraft.

○ Minimum age for Primary Renter is 30.
○ No candles, slime or confetti.
○ No events.
○ No guests are allowed at the house in addition to those on the original booking - including day guests - this is for insurance reasons.
○ No bachelor parties/weekends or prom celebrations.
○ Host reserves the right to request photo ID from primary renter to verify age and facilitate contactless check-in.
○ If you use the Weber propane grill outside, please clean it after use.
○ No fireworks; community and Township fines apply and primary renter will be liable.
○ 2025 opening dates for community swimming pool. The pool is open on weekends only from Memorial Day weekend until 6/14. From 6/14 onwards it's open every day until Labor Day.

The Owl House is located in the heart of Jim Thorpe, right on Broadway! This beautiful Victorian home built in 1836 is walking distance to the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway, museums, shops, trails, and restaurants/bars. Upon entering you will feel the warm and inviting old spirit of a Jim Thorpe Home.

The first floor includes a large living room that has exposed brick with restored original pine wide plank flooring. It also boasts a large Victorian bar and bistro table. French doors lead to the formal dining room featuring a huge eight-foot trestle table with abundant seating. The kitchen is fully stocked to prepare meals, has all modern appliances and a stack washer/dryer. Additionally, there is a half bath on this level. The kitchen leads to a back porch and terraced garden. Enjoy cocktails on the rear porch or at the outdoor dining table.

The second level features a spacious master suite with a king-size bed, a comfortable sitting area, and a private bath. The second bedroom also offers a king-size bed and easy access to a full bath on this floor. Front and rear staircases provide convenient access to the upper level.

The house was very clean and extremely well stocked…more so than any other VRBO stay. The homeowners truly know how to make your time there so easy and hassle-free The backyard is a perfect oasis to enjoy morning coffee and watch hummingbirds. The bedrooms and baths were ideal. The fans and AC units made all rooms very comfortable. There are a lot of steps in the home but there are lights all along them. And the note in the description about car size is important to note. This deluxe brand new apartment is located at the heart of Jim Thorpe, neighboring the Asa Packer Mansion and the Harry Packer Mansion. Only half a block from the town train station which offers scenic rides in between the mountains. The apartment has a direct view of the surrounding mountains and the Lehigh river and is located at the entrance of the switchback Trail. It has plenty of parking space and direct access to this beautiful trail leading to the Mauch Chunk Lake Park.

THE HOUSE:

You will enter through the front door, and a staircase leads to your private bedroom which includes a comfortable queen size bed and hand-refinished 1930s Art Deco furniture. The full bath on the second level is private for your use. It is not attached to the room, it is slightly down the hall.

My floor of the house is primarily the third floor.

My small chihuahua lives with me and may be around during your stay. She is friendly and curious- she will jump on the bed if you let her; please just shoo her away!

IMPORTANT DETAILS:

1) This is a listing for a private room, not an entire house. While guests are welcome to use the living room, please be aware that this is my primary home where I live with my partner, so we may be using that space too. If you plan on a long stay and need full-time access to a living room, consider booking an entire home or studio.

2) While pets are welcome (and many guests with pets have happily stayed!), please only book with your dog if they are quiet and easygoing. I cannot accommodate barking dogs out of respect for my neighbors (and my own chihuahua who herself is a bit barky!). Dogs cannot be left along in the room while you are out.

3) In an effort to travel more sustainably and reduce single-use plastic, I offer guests unlimited fresh filtered water from our reverse osmosis system and cloth towels rather than paper towels. Soap, shampoo, and conditioner are provided but please bring any other disposable essentials you may need.

***Please also note that our home does NOT have central AC.***

If you are highly sensitive to heat, keep in mind that the house was built in 1890. The AC unit in the room runs great but I ask guests to please turn it off when they leave. This is standard practice in the countries in the world where I have spent a lot of my life and I try to run an ecofriendly house. If you let me know when you will be arriving back, I will be more than happy to turn it back on for you shortly before you arrive. Thank you for your understanding and efforts to conserve energy!

AN OFF STREET PARKING SPOT IS INCLUDED WITH OUR SPACE. Please park in the driveway rather than on the one-way street. Jim Thorpe is a town built during the 19th Century well before cars so parking in the downtown is limited, but you can easily walk or bike across the bridge and leave your car in the driveway!

We are not a bed and breakfast or short term rental, but can direct you to wonderful places to eat.

Tourism Note: Many restaurants and popular sites in town take Wednesday as their day off. Bars and restaurants also close quite early (10pm for many places).

I am Laura—a ‘youngish’ woman with a mini schnauzer named Copine (this means 'girlfriend in French) who has recently purchased this 3-family building near the center of where everything happens in Jim Thorpe.

As I love Amsterdam—I immediately fell in love with the historic buildings and, of course, the extraordinary bike riding trails that Jim Thorpe offers to visitors. Having lived in NYC/Manhattan for over -30 years, I view Jim Thorpe as a bit like the lofts of Soho as well as a much needed place to decompress, unwind and relax from the hectic (yet exciting) life of the big city.

We now have a garage nearby to safely store bicycles. This must be reserved prior to arrival.

Dogs are permitted ONLY with prior approval and a nominal additional pet fee.

All of our available apartments have been mindfully, carefully and thoughtfully furnished as we view them as our homes as well.

For example—the kitchen has all the amenities needed for most wannabe chefs. We have nice pots, pans, cutting knives, food processor, crock pot as well as many spices and condiments. Our linens and towels are the highest quality to assure a feeling of luxury. The bathroom is newly renovated with a wonderful tub and lots of hot water.

Recently, we have focused on our backyard and created a hand designed brick paved 2-terrace oasis of relaxation, outdoor dining plus an extraordinary gas barbeque, attached charcoal bar-be-que. plus a warming plate. We love having our morning coffee outside, relaxing to read a book and then grill some organic steaks from a local butcher and some yummy vegetables from the farmer’s market.

On rainy days—we enjoy binge watching on our HD TV and recently finished Succession. We offer HBO-GO, Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu. Internet and wifi options are limited in Jim Thorpe but we have opted to purchase wifi-extenders through-out the building so the majority of the time we can use our technology whether in the basement or in the backyard.

We love bike riding and going to the Mauch-Chunk Lake so much that we have not yet explored all the amazing museums and art galleries—the majority which are within walking distance. Our favorite local activity is the incredible music and acoustics offered at the Jim Thorpe Opera House which is just diagonal from our building. The music they offer are a wide variety and everything we have gone to has been great. Also, nearby is Penn’s Peak. They offer a larger music venue with terrific headlining bands.

In the basement we provide a Samsung washer and dryer which you are welcome to use. Of course, we appreciate our guests being mindful about the use of water for the machine and use the appropriate washer setting. Do NOT bring outside additional laundry or pet bedding.

Guests will have their own private apartment which requires walking up 2 flights of stairs. While we have 2 other apartments--we often do not even hear or see the other guests.

In Jim Thorpe most folks are outside enjoying the nature, museums or dining establishments.

We use a keyless entry and provide a code for the lock box on the door of the apartment.

The stairs, halls and basement are shared common area's. Your apartment is a private smoke-free environment.

We include one reserved parking spot in a nearby lot. An additional spot may be available for additional fee. There is ZERO on street parking near the house-it is permit parking only and you will be ticketed. However, you can double park briefly with your hazard lights to load and unload your car.

While this is considered the "In-law suite" for the home, the owners are rarely at the other side. You can rest assured knowing the two units are locked from each other and separated by a garage.

The property offers some great forest sights and provides you with wonderful seclusion. You won't be too far from civilization while also escaping the hustle and bustle of today's life.

Upon arrival, you can expect fresh linens on the beds and towels are provided along with a complementary starter kit, including a few dishwasher pods, laundry pods, dish soap, hand soap, a few trash bags and hotel style shampoo, conditioner and body lotion.

Please note: There is a $135 cleaning fee. This goes to the cleaners and ensures they receive a living wage. We look forward to your stay!

Please let me know if you have any questions prior to your travel and during your stay. The property is back a dirt road that’s a little bumpy. Enjoy the camp fire pit, if you would like to pick up marshmallow skewers and firewood.

A few tidbits on some exciting things to do during your visit.

There are so many things to see and do in Jim Thorpe! One of my favorite small towns in the US! The train ride is beautiful! And also don’t forget to visit the Asa Packer Mansion, Mauch Chunk Opera House, Wild Elder Wine & Cider Co, The Old Jail Museum, Muggle’s Mug - the Harry Potter Cafe for a great cup of coffee or butter beer.
There are so many amazing little shops and specialty stores to explore. Don’t forget to check out Kemmerer Memorial Park located on the wooded hillside overlooking the Lehigh River and historic downtown Jim Thorpe, Kemmerer Memorial Park is the town’s hidden gem. Also, there’s Penn’s Peak which has entertainment and a nice bar and restaurant. There are so many things to see and do you’re going to love it!

The property will be to the right side when you pull up into the driveway.

This newly renovated, ranch style home, sits on a corner acre lot just across the road from many, many acres of unspoiled, all natural, wild land owned by The Nature Conservancy .... So you have ALLLLL the wildlife just outside your front door. Ideally located in the heart of the Poconos just 5 miles from the historic town of Jim Thorpe. Less than 1 mile from the built to rock music venue of Penn's Peak. Less than 5 miles from the Butterfly Farm and the Pocono Whitewater Rafting office. Just at 9 miles to that wonderful beach at Mauch Chunk Lake and just a tad over 6 miles to the beautiful Glen Onoko State Park. It's a hop-an-a-skip of 16 miles to the Pocono Raceway and Pocono Outdoor Adventure Tours. And the surround area offers sooooo much more outdoor activity, way too much to list on here. The house is fully wheelchair accessible with a ramp and open floor plan for easy getting around the home. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the amenities you could want to create and serve fine meals for up to 12 ppl. Appliances include an electric 4 burner range with quick boil burners, a dishwasher, a double deep cast iron sink with goose neck spout, a microwave, hand mixer, blender, coffee maker, electric kettle, pour over coffee pot, a large and a small french press, a hand grind coffee grinder, a xl salad spinner, pots/pans, mixing bowls, measuring spoons/cups, baking dishes/pans, roasting pans, silverware and Corelle dishes service for 12 including pasta bowls, ample stemware for wine/cocktails, as well as some shatterproof drinking cups, coffee mugs, specialty sectioned plates, and much much more. *Note; we do not supply an air fryer as they are too difficult to keep clean. The Monet room has a queen bed a sitting area as well and a tucked away twin trundle. Both bedrooms have privacy blinds and full drapery as well as a dresser. The home has a book case with board games, light reading, puzzles and whatnot. This home got its name "Pinkies Starlight Chateau" because of the gorgeous view of the stars at night.. With absolutely zero light pollution to dim out the lessers, the sky is just a beautiful blanket of sparkling wonder on clear nights .... The home has 2 outdoor seating areas, the front covered porch has *seasonal* rocking chairs and the back, uncovered deck is absolutely perfect for watching a meteor shower or grilling those summertime burgers. This is a VERY quiet neighborhood and we all wish to keep it that way so I please request that all outdoor activity be kept at a minimum and/or whisper quiet after 9 pm. *Note, human noise scares away the wildlife/birds that we love so much. thank you

We’re in Weissport PA 8 min from Jim Thorpe. Our house is super chill, we have 7 guest rooms and our cohost Cedrick lives on site and is available all the time to help and hang out!! All guests share the living room and kitchen. We want everyone to be comfortable, good vibes only!!

The space
The cleaning fee goes towards the weekly cleaning service on the common areas(not the rooms). If you leave a mess, the cleaning company will charge at least a $50 fee for extra clean up. Smoking is not allowed inside. There is a $250 fee for smoking. If there is something broken or missing when the cleaning company gets there they will go to store and have it replaced, the charge is $50 for their time and travel plus cost of goods. If something breaks by accident just message or call me as soon as it happens and I should be able to buy product online to avoid the cost of time and travel fee that the cleaning company charges. Please don't leave any food or garbage in the bathroom. Also please take only 1 bath towel per guest per stay, otherwise other guests will not have enough towels. Guests are not allowed to have parties/get together nor bring additional guests that are not noted at time of booking. Persons who are not checked in are not permitted in the house. If you booked as one guest and if you bring additional guests with you, you will be charged a $50 per guest per day fee. This applies to unregistered guests that enters the property without a reservation no matter if they sleep there or not. This agreement shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the state of Pennsylvania the parties consent to personal jurisdiction and venue in the superior court for the county of Philadelphia state of Pennsylvania. Fee for turning off or obstructing security camera is $500. This is a shared place and bathroom. Due to severe allergies, pets are not allowed on the property. The fee for bringing a pet on the property is $250. We tell all guests to clean up after themselves but we can't guarantee that they would do that. If you need it perfectly clean, this may not be the place for you. Potential for noise, please consider before booking. Check ins are between the hours of four pm and eight pm. There is a $50 after hours check in fee if checking in earlier than four pm or later than eight pm. Check in phone support is only available until eight pm. You may check in until two am as long as you can do self check in with out our help. Just watch the check in video we sent you, and follow the instructions!! Check out is at eleven am and there is a $50 fee for late check out. If you extend your stay without a reservation, you will be charged fifty dollar fee per night. Enjoy your stay!!

This unit is located in the lower level of our home, but is completely separate from our living space. You'll have your own private entrance and the entire rental is for your exclusive use. There are no shared areas except for the emergency exit.

The space
The suite is laid out like a studio apartment. By that, I mean there are no doors between the different areas (except for the mudroom and bathroom). The space is ideal for 2 people, but will accommodate 4 people who don't mind sleeping in the same room.

What's included:
- Sheets, pillows, and blankets are provided for the queen-sized bed. They are available for the sofa bed by request.
- The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven, and standard 12-cup coffee maker as well as a Keurig.
Initial supplies of coffee, tea, sugar, creamer, and bottled water are provided as well as an assortment of condiments.
- Dishes, glasses, silverware, and cooking implements are provided.
- Dish soap and dishwasher detergent are included.
- The bathroom includes hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.
- You'll find a fireplace heater and a smart TV with a DVD player in the living area.
- Wifi is included, as well as access to any streaming services that we currently subscribe to.
- Hand sanitizer and cleaning supplies are kept in the suite for your use during your stay.
- A charcoal grill with tools is available for your use.
- You can request to use our campfire ring. We have a few camp chairs, but you may want to bring your own.

What's NOT included:
- Laundry machines are NOT included in the rental, but there is a laundromat in town.
- There is no cable service for the TV.
- There are no food items in the rental other than the few items listed above. If you'd like the fridge or pantry stocked with any items for your stay, I can offer a grocery service. You provide a list of items, I'll shop for you and put the items in the suite before your arrival. You pay for the groceries plus a small convenience fee. I'll need at least 24-hours notice for this service.

Guest access
The private entrance to the Suite is on the back side of the house. Use the first (lower) driveway to park right next to the door! The suite is located in the lower level of our home, but you probably won't see us unless we're outside. You will have exclusive access to the entire Suite, which includes a mudroom to store your gear, an eat-in kitchen, bedroom/living room, and full bathroom. Outside of the suite, the yard and fire pit are shared with everyone in the house (and sometimes the neighbors!), but if you'd like to reserve the fire pit privately, it can be arranged and I'll let everyone know to stay away for the evening.

My home is welcoming, comforting, spacious & a bit eclectic in its decor. It’s a no frills, older home for those on a budget. Enjoy a living room, reading room/office, dining room, yard & 2 porches. The house is on the East Side of town. Especially suitable to long-term stays.

The space
After a long day of skiing, hiking, biking or sightseeing, you can relax on one of the porches or watch tv or enjoy a beer from the brewery 2 blocks away. Order take out, eat out or cook a home-cooked meal in the kitchen which is equipped with pots, pans, utensils, etc. The house is ideal for a couple wanting a getaway or a couple of friends who want to take advantage of the wonderful outdoor activities. If you want upscale, modern, luxury or a maid, a B&B or hotel would be a better option. The house is more for the budget-concious traveler but yet it is clean, cozy and comfortable.

Housebroken pets welcome. There is a $20 pet fee. If there are any damages caused by the pet or “accidents”, a deduction will be made from security deposit. Please bring a blanket or sheet if peg will stay on couch or bed.

This is a quiet house and quiet neighborhood. You can relax. It is not a party house so no more than three people to keep the neighbors content.

Winter Notes
Coordinating the house rental in Winter is always complex as I may stay at the house on short notice was when it snows more than 6 inches so I can cross country ski. I leave the January/February calendar open on AirBnB as I never know when it’s going to snow. Guests would share the house with me and my cat at a reduced price. You would be given notice and can decide to stay or find lodging elsewhere. If guests would prefer to cancel, I would pay all fees.
I will not be at the house at least thru 1/24.

Pet-Friendly
This is a pet-friendly house and dogs and cats have been in the house in case you have allergies. If your
cat/dog is house broken, they are welcome.

Noise
The house is on the main traffic street and traffic can be heard especially in the am when folks are driving to work.

Energy Usage
Please be energy-efficient, especially in the winter. The house uses oil which is quite expensive.

Price
Note that price is for two people. Their is a 3 person maximum, to adhere to the town’s Short-term Rental policy but the extra person will be charged $30/night.


Long-term Stays
For long-term stays (more than 1 month), I may need to stay at the house for a long weekend to take care of things. If so, I will let you know when you make a request and discuss details like a price reduction. I only visit once a month or less.

You will enter through the front door, and a staircase leads to your bedroom which includes a comfortable queen size bed and hand-refinished 1930s Art Deco furniture. The full bath on the second level is private for your use. It is not attached to the room, it is slightly down the hall.

IMPORTANT DETAILS:

1) This is a listing for a private room in my home, not an entire house. While guests are welcome to use the living room, please be aware that this is my primary home where I live with my partner, so we may be using that space too. If you require a private entrance and need full-time access to a living room or kitchen, please consider booking an entire home or studio.

2) While pets are welcome (and many guests with pets have happily stayed!), please only book with your dog if they are quiet and easygoing. I cannot accommodate barking dogs out of respect for my neighbors (and my own chihuahua who herself is a bit barky!). Dogs cannot be left along in the room while you are out.

3) In an effort to travel more sustainably and reduce single-use plastic, I offer guests unlimited fresh filtered water from our reverse osmosis system and cloth towels rather than paper towels. Soap, shampoo, and conditioner are provided but please bring any other disposable essentials you may need.

***Please also note that our home does not have central AC.***

If you are highly sensitive to heat, keep in mind that the house was built in 1890. The unit in the room runs great but I ask guests to please turn it off when they leave. This is standard practice in most countries in the world and I try to run an ecofriendly house. If you let me know when you will be arriving back, I will be more than happy to turn it back on for you shortly before you arrive. Thank you for your understanding and efforts to conserve energy!

AN OFF STREET PARKING SPOT IS INCLUDED WITH OUR SPACE. Please park in the driveway rather than on the one-way street. Jim Thorpe is a town built during the 19th Century well before cars so parking in the downtown is limited, but you can easily walk or bike across the bridge and leave your car in the driveway!

Guest access
Guests can access the kitchen to make meals and use the living room if desired. Please let me know your plans so I can arrange my plans around yours (this is my property home where I live with my boyfriend).

A small suite located above the town of Jim Thorpe. I am really geared towards couples looking for a weekend getaway. The space is smaller but very easily accomadates two people. A big step up from any hotel room/suite. The rental is not located in the town of Jim Thorpe. I am located about 10 minutes outside of town and about 5 minutes away from Penns Peak. The rental is connected to home but completely seperate.

The space
A small space with large one bedroom, living room ,kitchenette and full bathroom(stand up shower only). The wifi is about the best you can get up here and works decent. The rental is connected to main home.

Guest access
The guests have access to front parking, the suite, backyard, fire pit. I have firewood on premise and can be used for no charge.

Other things to note
I have a small dog. She is very friendly but sometimes needs alittle time to warm up to strangers. She doesn't get along with other animals and can be an issue. The speed limit in my neighborhood is 15 mph and I would appreciate no loud music past 8 pm. Checkout is 10 am. NO FIREWORKS.

This cabin style has a Queen Bed, + Twin over Twin Bunk beds. There is no in-cabin bathroom or running water but you have full use of multiple bathrooms and bathhouses throughout the property. Bed linens are not included. The cabin has electricity, heat, ceiling fan, tv (use your own streaming service), mini-fridge, coffee maker (k-cups) and microwave. Outside the cabin there is a private fire ring, picnic table and grill.

Other things to note
Please message us if you would like to add linens to your rental - cost is $15/bed.

Air Conditioners can be rented for $25/day.

The space

While this is considered the "In-law suite" for the home, the owners are rarely at the other side. You can rest assured knowing the two units are locked from each other and separated by a garage.

The property offers some great forest sights and provides you with wonderful seclusion. You won't be too far from civilization while also escaping the hustle and bustle of today's life.

Upon arrival, you can expect fresh linens on the beds and towels are provided along with a complementary starter kit, including a few dishwasher pods, laundry pods, dish soap, hand soap, a few trash bags and hotel style shampoo, conditioner and body lotion.

There are so many things to see and do in Jim Thorpe! One of my favorite small towns in the US! The train ride is beautiful! And also don’t forget to visit the Asa Packer Mansion, Mauch Chunk Opera House, Wild Elder Wine & Cider Co, The Old Jail Museum, Muggle’s Mug - the Harry Potter Cafe for a great cup of coffee or butter beer.
There are so many amazing little shops and specialty stores to explore. Don’t forget to check out Kemmerer Memorial Park located on the wooded hillside overlooking the Lehigh River and historic downtown Jim Thorpe, Kemmerer Memorial Park is the town’s hidden gem. Also, there’s Penn’s Peak which has entertainment and a nice bar and restaurant. There are so many things to see and do you’re going to love it!

The space
Large Living room with a fire place which will make your stay super cozy romantic and unforgettable. Large dining area with a table that easily seats 6 people. Lots of natural light in the house. Kitchen has everything that you will ever need. Blender, knives, teapots, coffee maker, all sorts of frying pens, microwave, toaster. All the necessary spices , tea and coffee are provided.
There is a private bedroom with a full size bed and a private attached bathroom on the first floor.
Second floor features two separate bedrooms with a full bathroom in between in the hallway for the convenience . There is also an attic space that features a full size bed.

The space
Our Blueberry guest house on High street is located in the quiet section of Historic Jim Thorpe. It is off of the beaten path, and away from the crowded sidewalks on Broadway... This street is truly one of the best kept secrets in town!
Our home is over 200 years old and was originally built and owned by the Leigh Coal and Navigation company as a housing unit for the anthracite coal miners. There were actually as many as 13 people living in this home at one time!
Seeing the potential that this house and location had to offer (after-all, this is where we fell in love with Jim Thorpe), we enthusiastically set out to make one of the most unique and whimsical homes in town.
No detail has been overlooked... We want your stay here to be perfect, in every way!!

Welcome to The Sleeping Bear Retreat at Jim Thorpe. Located at the top of the mountain, and only minutes from the center of town, our 2 Bed / 2 Bath carriage house suite offers comfort, privacy and convenient access to everything Jim Thorpe has to offer.

The space
This carriage house suite is so fun-you are almost completely surrounded by acres of trees! Our property is tucked away on a private seven acre parcel of land. Your accommodations boast a soothing natural light, exposed rustic beams, and beautiful wooded views.
Less than 1 mile from Penns Peak for dining and entertainment and a six-minute drive into Historical Jim Thorpe, where the possibilities are endless!!
Access to river rafting, paintball, hiking, and biking trials all less than 3 miles from our space.
As the day winds down enjoy some time relaxing on your private deck.
When it’s time for sleep, settle in to your room decked out with comfortable bedding and clean private bathrooms.

Other things to note
We offer a kitchenette, which includes refrigerator and microwave; there is no stove/oven in the unit. We do have a BBQ grill available for preparing hot meals!
If you need any extra kitchen gadgets for your stay let us know and we will be more than happy to accommodate if possible.

The second sleeping area is created with a room divider, to be split off from the living room and kitchenette. The space is 2 rooms total, each room has its own bathroom.

The space
Living room has plenty of seating to enjoy a movie or just sitting and enjoying conversation.
Master bedroom has a queen bed that is comfortable, extra pillows, private bathroom with walk in shower.
Second bedroom has a queen bed that is comfortable, extra pillows.
Third bedroom has a bunk bed with full bed on bottom and twin on top that are comfortable and extra pillows. The second bathroom is shared with the two bedrooms.
All bedrooms have dressers, alarm clocks, sound spa and USB ports.
Both bathrooms are fully stocked with Shampoo, conditioner, body wash.
Make up remover towels, pads and liquid make up remover, lotion, hand soap, Q tips, hair dryer, hair spray. I also provide a hand towel for guest to use to dry
their hair if recently dyed. Towels, wash clothes and hand towels.
Kitchen is stocked with pots, pans, roasting pan, bake ware, all utensils, kid and adult dinner wear. Outside bamboo dinner ware beer wine glasses, electric can opener, blender, bottle warmer. cook books, cake plate with cover.
Coffee bar stocked with coffee, tea, hot chocolate, sugar, non dairy creamer. I provide regular and decaf coffee and tea. Also sugar substitute.
There is a keurig coffee maker and a electric percolator.

Guest access
This home is a duplex. The right side is a ranch home. The entire ranch is for the guest including private front porch, Private rear deck. Front yard is for the guest.

Other things to note
I live in the two story side of the duplex with my two smaller dogs. The back yard is not open for guest use. The dogs have all day access to the yard.

The Sanctuary in Jim Thorpe is a Sophisticated Victorian Townhouse, Circa 1881, located in this historical village.
Relax, and enjoy this "LOVE" inspired room which offers a peaceful, calm, healing space.

The space
THE SANCTUARY GUESTHOUSE is located in a very historical part of the town of Jim Thorpe.
It was once the Rectory for the First Presbyterian church which is located a few doors away and is currently an art gallery.
The Sanctuary still has it's vintage antique craftsmanship and sophisticated charm.
Rooms are well appointed, private, peaceful, and comfortable.
The Sanctuary is located steps away from all that the town of Jim Thorpe has to offer.
In addition, FREE parking is available for our guests at a separate location in town; but you must have a guest parking pass which will be spplied by your host.
