The property is on the quiet side of the city but still close to the center city and restaurants. Close to the Lehigh George State Park. 3 blocks away from grocery and wine stores . Pizzeria is around the corner.
The house has 2 bedrooms and one bathroom on the first floor , but there is access to the 3 floor with additional bedroom. Please let me know if you need to use it.

This deluxe brand new apartment is located at the heart of Jim Thorpe, neighboring the Asa Packer Mansion and the Harry Packer Mansion. Only half a block from the town train station which offers scenic rides in between the mountains. The apartment has a direct view of the surrounding mountains and the Lehigh river and is located at the entrance of the switchback Trail. It has plenty of parking space and direct access to this beautiful trail leading to the Mauch Chunk Lake Park.

I am Laura—a ‘youngish’ woman with a mini schnauzer named Copine (this means 'girlfriend in French) who has recently purchased this 3-family building near the center of where everything happens in Jim Thorpe.
As I love Amsterdam—I immediately fell in love with the historic buildings and, of course, the extraordinary bike riding trails that Jim Thorpe offers to visitors. Having lived in NYC/Manhattan for over -30 years, I view Jim Thorpe as a bit like the lofts of Soho as well as a much needed place to decompress, unwind and relax from the hectic (yet exciting) life of the big city.
We now have a garage nearby to safely store bicycles. This must be reserved prior to arrival.
Dogs are permitted ONLY with prior approval and a nominal additional pet fee.
All of our available apartments have been mindfully, carefully and thoughtfully furnished as we view them as our homes as well.
For example—the kitchen has all the amenities needed for most wannabe chefs. We have nice pots, pans, cutting knives, food processor, crock pot as well as many spices and condiments. Our linens and towels are the highest quality to assure a feeling of luxury. The bathroom is newly renovated with a wonderful tub and lots of hot water.
Recently, we have focused on our backyard and created a hand designed brick paved 2-terrace oasis of relaxation, outdoor dining plus an extraordinary gas barbeque, attached charcoal bar-be-que. plus a warming plate. We love having our morning coffee outside, relaxing to read a book and then grill some organic steaks from a local butcher and some yummy vegetables from the farmer’s market.
On rainy days—we enjoy binge watching on our HD TV and recently finished Succession. We offer HBO-GO, Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu. Internet and wifi options are limited in Jim Thorpe but we have opted to purchase wifi-extenders through-out the building so the majority of the time we can use our technology whether in the basement or in the backyard.
We love bike riding and going to the Mauch-Chunk Lake so much that we have not yet explored all the amazing museums and art galleries—the majority which are within walking distance. Our favorite local activity is the incredible music and acoustics offered at the Jim Thorpe Opera House which is just diagonal from our building. The music they offer are a wide variety and everything we have gone to has been great. Also, nearby is Penn’s Peak. They offer a larger music venue with terrific headlining bands.
In the basement we provide a Samsung washer and dryer which you are welcome to use. Of course, we appreciate our guests being mindful about the use of water for the machine and use the appropriate washer setting. Do NOT bring outside additional laundry or pet bedding.
Guests will have their own private apartment which requires walking up 2 flights of stairs. While we have 2 other apartments--we often do not even hear or see the other guests.
In Jim Thorpe most folks are outside enjoying the nature, museums or dining establishments.
We use a keyless entry and provide a code for the lock box on the door of the apartment.
The stairs, halls and basement are shared common area's. Your apartment is a private smoke-free environment.
We include one reserved parking spot in a nearby lot. An additional spot may be available for additional fee. There is ZERO on street parking near the house-it is permit parking only and you will be ticketed. However, you can double park briefly with your hazard lights to load and unload your car.

This unit is located in the lower level of our home, but is completely separate from our living space. You'll have your own private entrance and the entire rental is for your exclusive use. There are no shared areas except for the emergency exit.
The space
The suite is laid out like a studio apartment. By that, I mean there are no doors between the different areas (except for the mudroom and bathroom). The space is ideal for 2 people, but will accommodate 4 people who don't mind sleeping in the same room.
What's included:
- Sheets, pillows, and blankets are provided for the queen-sized bed. They are available for the sofa bed by request.
- The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven, and standard 12-cup coffee maker as well as a Keurig.
Initial supplies of coffee, tea, sugar, creamer, and bottled water are provided as well as an assortment of condiments.
- Dishes, glasses, silverware, and cooking implements are provided.
- Dish soap and dishwasher detergent are included.
- The bathroom includes hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.
- You'll find a fireplace heater and a smart TV with a DVD player in the living area.
- Wifi is included, as well as access to any streaming services that we currently subscribe to.
- Hand sanitizer and cleaning supplies are kept in the suite for your use during your stay.
- A charcoal grill with tools is available for your use.
- You can request to use our campfire ring. We have a few camp chairs, but you may want to bring your own.
What's NOT included:
- Laundry machines are NOT included in the rental, but there is a laundromat in town.

The private entrance to the Suite is on the back side of the house. Use the first (lower) driveway to park right next to the door! The suite is located in the lower level of our home, but you probably won't see us unless we're outside. You will have exclusive access to the entire Suite, which includes a mudroom to store your gear, an eat-in kitchen, bedroom/living room, and full bathroom. Outside of the suite, the yard and fire pit are shared with everyone in the house (and sometimes the neighbors!), but if you'd like to reserve the fire pit privately, it can be arranged and I'll let everyone know to stay away for the evening.

The NYC Suite has a sweet bay window overlooking the Mauch Chunk Opera House, Marion Hose Bar and the Historic District. Sip coffee and people watch, enjoy the changing fall colors or in winter feel like you are in a snow globe.
The unique layout of the 2nd BR with a full size bed + trundle bed has its own private entrance to the hallway to allow privacy. The 2 BRs share a full bathroom. We also have a drip + Nespresso coffee maker. Bring your favorite sleeve of coffee. We provide some pods.
The space
I, Laura, recently purchased the entire home with the intention of using an apartment as a respite from New York City. Because I am fortunate to have lived and traveled in Europe and especially loved Amsterdam in the Netherlands, along with Amsterdam being known worldwide as the bicycle capital--it seemed fitting to call my home "The Amsterdam Townhouse" as well it reminded me of some of the Victorian homes found there. In addition, I have lived in NYC for -30 years, so the building and the apartment remind me of quaint lofts found throughout the city. I invite you to my home away from home and hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
The kitchen is fully equipped for you to make everything from snacks to complete meals. There are plenty of pots and pans, knives, cutting boards, prep bowls, small food processor, Nespresso coffee machine w/milk frother, 4-cup drip coffee maker including filters, toaster and even a large crock pot.
Because we occasionally use the apartment, there are two locked closets for my use. The other closets have plenty of room for our guests belongings.
The NYC Suite is located on the second floor, so please be prepared to climb stairs with your belongings. There is ZERO ON-STREET parking as the town as created 'permit parking' for local residents only. So please do not park on the street. The apartment comes with 2 parking passes which allow you to come and go as much as you wish.
We have a 49" smart TV with cable, HBO, Netflix, Apple and Amazon Prime for your use. You may log into the other apps with your account info. There is a DVD player and a few DVDs for your use - a Redbox is located at the Turkey Hill downtown and there's also one at the Giant in Lehighton.
The back bedroom has a full size bed with a twin pull-out trundle. It's a great apartment for 2 couples traveling together with one young person who can use the trundle. Anyone staying in the back bedroom will find it convenient to access the main living area through the hallway instead of needing to go through the master bedroom when it's occupied.
PLEASE NOTE: Because it is an old house with only wood floors between the apartments I no longer allow any children under the age of 10 years old. Understandably they run and have a heavy foot on the wood floors which carries to the person staying in the apartment below. No matter what a parent tells me about their very ‘adult’ young person or toddler…I have stayed in the 1st floor and heard their child/toddler sound like he/she is on a trampoline. The child is a child/toddler—let us not expect anything different—lol. This is not the best AirBnB for that demongraphic.
Except as just list above—Also, to be noted--as this home was built in the 1850's, you may hear the folks above you in the apartment on the third floor. Personally, I have never been bothered by it and want to make potential guests aware that you may hear some noise above.

We have recently created a beautiful 2-terraced back-yard with a dining area including a new BBQ grill--your choice: gas or charcoal. On the other terrace is what we call our coffee or appetizer corner. We also have spent time upgrading our basement (Jim Thorpe is built on a river so many folks do not use their basements). PETS: DO NOT book prior to checking in with us about bringing a pet. A $50 additional pet fee is required. Animals are NOT allowed on the furniture--additional fee's may apply. I crate my dog when I travel...please ask about borrowing our crate--if your dog is crate trained. As I use this as my own home--please also treat it like your home. I love animals and ask that you be a very responsible pet owner. If pets are found to have been brought to the home without prior written consent you do risk losing your security deposit.
