Most of the art on the walls is by local Big Island This property is an excellent space stay, play and relax while on the Big Island.

Puako offers access to some of the best snorkel and diving experiences on the Big Island. You will be near world famous golf courses, delightful outdoor shopping malls that feature an array of great boutique shops and some of the best Big Island dining and views. Of course if you're interested in any of the many water sport activities the Kawaihae harbour and nearby resorts at Waikoloa beach have a wide variety of offers. Take advantage of the many sunset catamaran excursions or sunset excursions to the top of Mauna Kea at close to 14,000 feet (~4200 meters) above sea level. There are also five National Parks on the island. Pu'ukohola Heiau National Historic Site is the closest being a 15 minute drive to the north and highly recommended to learn more about the Hawaiian history and culture.

Our home offers 2 master suites, 2 guest bedrooms with their own baths, a media room with a bath, an open living, dining and gourmet kitchen area with cathedral ceilings that opens to a huge covered lanai adjacent to the 46' 360 degree infinity pool. Each bedroom, the living and media room, each have a large flat screen TV complete with an advanced audio system. Great care was taken with the landscape, creating a beautiful palm tree oasis on the ocean side. This gorgeously designed home is topped off with a 3rd story 'whale watch' retreat that offers 360 degree view. New mattresses and luxurious bedding in all master and guest bedrooms (Oct 2023).

The swimming pool has direct access from the first floor. For children that are not water safe it is recommended that they wear a life vest when on the lanais in the vicinity of the pool.
Hale Nana Kohola has hosted numerous birthday, anniversary and other family celebrations for the past 10 years. Our house is constantly being upgraded and is in pristine condition. The Hawaiian Polynesian design has a couple of thousand square feet of lanais for amazing indoor and outdoor living.

Our media room is equipped with luxury chairs and a full bath for ‘overflow’ guests. There is also a Queen Murphy bed in the media room, which converts to the fifth bedroom.

Great care has been taken with the landscape of our beach house vacation rental, creating a beautiful Hawaiian oasis including a hammock stretched between two palms ocean side. This home is one of the few in Puako with a sandy beach right in front complete with the protected ‘lava reef pools’ for your little ones. The ancient Hawaiians have named one of the pools in front of Hale Nana Kohola the “Queens Bath”.

This gorgeously designed luxury vacation rental home is topped off with a 3rd story “whale watch” retreat that offers 360-degree views across the land and ocean from the sunrise over Mauna Kea to the sunset over the Pacific Ocean. The house features a heated pool and deck that is designed for everyone to gather to watch the sunset. The bay directly in front of the house is shallow and wave-free, ideal for our young son to learn to swim, spend afternoons playing in the black sand and watch an assortment of turtles, juvenile fish and sea animals. If you choose to leave the property, you will find Puako to be charming and authentic, things you can't get at a commercial resort. The Neighborhood:
Puako is still the only ocean front residential community along the Gold Coast/Kohala Coast of the Big Island nestled between the Mauna Lani Resort, Fairmont Orchid and Mauna Kea/Hapuna Resorts. Hapuna Beach State Park has earned the reputation of being one of Hawaii Island's finest beaches. It is the largest White Sands Beach on The Big Island and consistently rates on Top Ten lists internationally. Hapuna Beach offers some wonderful opportunities for swimming, bodysurfing, bodyboarding, sunbathing and snorkeling and is just a mile from Puako. You can even drive the back road to Hapuna Beach and not get on the Highway. Local shore fisherman can be seen daily enjoying the great reef fishing. There are six separate "beach" accesses along this stretch of beach. Although there is not a tremendous amount of sand, there are tide pools and the extensive protected reef is remarkable. During low tide, small pools dot the entire coastline and these pools are filled with small sea life that make excellent areas to explore for all ages. If you enjoy shore diving, kayaking and snorkeling you can find a spot along this stretch of shoreline to enter the water. Offshore the reef is home to a wide variety of fish and many days you will see dolphins playing right from the shore. This neighborhood is located off Old Puako Rd. There is a small gate and a cluster of homes. This property has direct walking access to Beach 69 through the neighborhood (not the parking area). It is a quiet and beautiful neighborhood, perfect for your next vacation.

- "This home is perfectly located on Beach 69 which has shade, sand, safe swimming and snorkeling, and is protected from the wind. The house was clean, was exactly what was presented in the VRBO listing, and had everything we needed for a full week of R & R in beautiful Hawaii including very comfortable beds, linens, towels, a well equipped kitchen, indoor and outdoor dining, a gorgeous view, old growth trees and landscaping in the front and back gardens, in a quiet neighborhood, safe, and peaceful. We ate at home every night because we love to cook, but there are many fine and reasonable dining options near by car. Please keep in mind that Guest is in a very small and peaceful residential neighborhood. Noise carries over quiet landscapes and near water. IBR asks that Guest and Guest’s children respect Property neighbors' privacy, peace and quiet. Guests are asked to adhere to the “Good Neighbor Policy” as follows: quiet hours shall be from 9:00 p.m. - 8:00 a.m. during which time the noise from the short term vacation rental shall not unreasonably disturb adjacent neighbors. Sound that is audible beyond the Property boundaries during non-quiet hours shall not be more excessive than would be otherwise associated with a residential area.

NON-SMOKING RENTAL
This is a non-smoking rental. No smoking is allowed inside any of the buildings on the Property. No cigarette butts in gravel or yard.

PLEASE KEEP SCREENS AND DOORS TIGHTLY CLOSED TO PREVENT PESTS FROM ENTERING THE HOME.

SUPPLIES
As part of our commitment to ensuring a relaxing and enjoyable stay for our guest, we provide a complimentary set of initial supplies (paper goods and soaps) upon your arrival. These supplies are intended to help you get started and make your transition into our accommodation as smooth as possible.  After your initial supply is depleted, it is your responsibility to replenish any additional supplies needed for the duration of your stay.

Please DRIVE SLOWLY in our neighborhoods. The speed limits are 10 mph to 25 mph and there are many children and adult pedestrians and bicyclists.

Guest may use the home only as a place of vacation. Guest may not use it for commercial purposes, for any unlawful, improper, offensive purpose or illegal activity. NEIGHBORHOOD CONSTRUCTION
IBR is not responsible for any construction noise or inconvenience that may occur during Guest stay. No refunds will be given. Although IBR cannot guarantee full knowledge of any planned or current construction occurring, Guest may contact IBR (90) days prior to Guest arrival to inquire if IBR is aware of construction adjacent to the Property occurring and Guest may choose to cancel at that time IF there is construction occurring that may affect the Property UNLESS Guest has already been made aware of construction during time of or shortly after Guest booking was made.

Custom designed hand painted tiles create Hawaiian scenes from sandy beaches to tropical flowers. The tropical gardens offer beautiful settings for reading, relaxing and sun bathing.  Fairly easy access into sandy bottom ocean for swimming, snorkeling, paddle boarding, surfing and other ocean activities. The Bay is peaceful and is a great place to swim, snorkel and paddle board.

NOISE
Please keep in mind that Guest is in a very small and peaceful residential neighborhood. Noise carries over quiet landscapes and near water. IBR asks that Guest and Guest’s children respect Property neighbors' privacy, peace and quiet. Guests are asked to adhere to the “Good Neighbor Policy” as follows: quiet hours shall be from 9:00 p.m. - 8:00 a.m. during which time the noise from the short term vacation rental shall not unreasonably disturb adjacent neighbors. Sound that is audible beyond the Property boundaries during non-quiet hours shall not be more excessive than would be otherwise associated with a residential area.

NON-SMOKING RENTAL
This is a non-smoking rental. No smoking is allowed inside any of the buildings on the Property. No cigarette butts in gravel or yard.

PLEASE KEEP SCREENS AND DOORS TIGHTLY CLOSED TO PREVENT PESTS FROM ENTERING THE HOME.

SUPPLIES
