Chawton Park Bungalow is the residential part of a working farm, located in a peaceful rural Northeast Hampshire. On-site we have a total of 2 ensuite cabins/shepherd's huts:

Set in idyllic countryside, our beautiful barn conversion is located in a peaceful setting on the edge of the quintessential English village of Upper Farringdon, with its ancient church, thatched cottages and fantastic pub, The Rose and Crown.

Our cosy barn has a spacious, open plan, newly fitted kitchen, dining area and sitting room on the ground floor with double bedroom (Kingsize bed), twin bedroom and shower room on the first floor. Complimentary soaps from The Lavender Fields at Selborne and welcome pack featuring local goodies. Free Wi-fi and Freeview television.

The set up:
Our barn is located on a quiet country lane. The barn is self contained and adjoins my creative studio from where I paint and manage my interior design consultancy. It is situated next to (but detached from) our family home and whilst it enjoys a large amount of privacy, we are on hand to offer advice or to answer any questions during your stay. There is an outside seating area exclusively for the use of our guests.

Getting here:
Alton is the closest town (less than 10 minutes drive), with direct trains to London Waterloo in just over an hour. Guildford is a half hour drive with direct trains to London Gatwick Airport. For drivers, the village is located off the A32, approximately an hours drive from South West London.

Things to do and places to visit:
Set on the edge of The South Downs National Park, on the "Writers Way" the barn is an ideal base for walkers, with several beautiful walks straight from the front door.

We are also in the heart of Jane Austen country with the pretty village of Chawton a leisurely half hour walk away through woodland and open fields (or short drive), where the Jane Austen House Museum and Chawton House are located.

The naturalist, Gilbert White's House and the Oates Collection is located in the pretty village of Selborne, a short drive away, where more beautiful walks can be found and an excellent cafe.

A 20 minute drive to the south is the stunning market town of Alresford and for opera fans, we are ideally located for the Grange Festival. The nationally acclaimed annual Alresford Watercress Festival which takes place in May, is an event not to be missed! Just 10 minutes further down the road is historic Winchester with its beautiful cathedral and a plethora of independent shops.

The south coast is approximately 50 minutes drive, with an extensive number of beaches to choose from.

There are a number of National Trust properties within easy reach, such as Hinton Ampner, Uppark House and The Vyne.

For train enthusiasts, the heritage Watercress Line runs steam train trips between Alton and Alresford.

Food and drink:
Waitrose, Sainsburys, Aldi, Lidl and M&S Food are located in Alton with delivery available to the barn from Waitrose and Sainsburys. If you don't fancy cooking, the atmospheric Rose and Crown is a short and pleasant stroll away through the village and offers delicious lunches and dinners, but be sure to book in advance as they do get very busy. There are plenty of other dining experiences available within a short drive and I am more than happy to provide recommendations.

Renovated in June 2019, the house is a real haven ideally located in the heart of Chawton village and surrounding Hampshire. Farthings was built circa 1700 for the workers of the Squires big house, which is now the Jane Austen Library in the centre of Chawton. The writer's home, now a museum, is directly opposite the house and it's said that Austen family members stayed in Farthings when they ran out of room. They certainly smoked hams for Squire Knight's guests in the inglenook fireplace.

The cottage was very comfortable for us. The front room was inviting, and had space to sit, visit, and watch TV. The kitchen has been updated and served us very well. There is a nice washing machine, but you will need to hang up your laundry on a drying rack, so plan ahead for that. The ceilings are quite low, so great for us ladies, but it would have been uncomfortable for our husbands. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms, which are outfitted well. The beds and pillows are decently comfortable. The bathroom is good, but the toilet is awful! Just be warned, we had to flush many times to even get paper to go down. Not fun for those middle of the night bathroom trips. The garden is also sweet, but the one day we could have made use of it, the gardeners were there all day working on it. It is really charming though. All in all, we're very happy we chose this cottage. Thank you for the great stay!"

Entire ground floor annexe located in the picturesque countryside village of Holybourne, near Alton. The self-contained annexe is attached to the main house and has its own front door for private use by guests. It is spacious and bright with a private garden for guests to enjoy.
The perfect base to explore glorious Hampshire countryside with its many walking routes and cycle paths, or visit the nearby Watercress Line and Jane Austen’s House.

The annexe has undergone renovations in October 2022 and features a new bathroom with walk-in rain shower or shower riser and all walls are newly decorated throughout.

There is one bedroom with a solid wood double bed and very comfortable orthopaedic mattress. The sofa bed in the living room can be easily converted into a small double to sleep either one adult or two children.
In front of the annexe is a secluded garden with outdoor seating for guests to enjoy. It is solely for guest use and it is perfect for relaxing in at the end of the day as it gets the afternoon sun.
The well equipped kitchen has a wall of windows which lets in a lot of natural light and allows a view of the garden. The kitchen has an oven, induction hob, washing machine, fridge freezer, microwave, kettle and toaster.

The annexe is central heated and gets lovely and cosy in the winter months.WiFi, linens and towels are included. Tea, coffee and sugar are included. As well as basic cooking ingredients and cleaning accessories.

If travelling with children we have a cot bed, high chair, baby bath, kids DVDs and we can provide some garden toys.

Please note that the sofa bed in the lounge is a small double and not suitable for 2 adults. We have a Max sleeping capacity of 3 adults OR 2 adults and 2 children. Plus an additional cot bed for infants.

We offer self check in with the use of a key safe. You will receive a code for the key safe prior to arrival. We have space for 1 car to park on the driveway with further spaces available on the London Road.
The village of Holybourne is very well located and offers a range of activities to explore for both families and couples. The renowned village pub The White Hart serves fabulous food and the Holybourne village shop is well stocked and sells local produce.
Mill Cottage Farm is less than 10minutes walk away and offers a fantastic walk with a variety of animals to see and a stream to paddle in when the sun is shining.
The historic market town of Alton with all of its shops, restaurants and amenities is only 2 miles away.
There are a number of local historic places to visit including Jane Austen’s house, The Watercress Line and Gilbert Whites Museum.
The vast forest of Alice Holt is 10 minutes drive away and fantastic for kids and adults alike.
Both Winchester and Farnham towns are within 30 minutes drive and have a lot of sights to offer.

Parking in the village is free and never in short supply.
There are multiple pay and display car parks in Alton town centre.
Alton train station is well networked and has direct trains to London Waterloo and all of the surrounding towns.
The walk into Alton town centre is approx 30 minutes.
Buses stop just outside the house at multiple times on a Tuesday and Friday and go into Alton town centre. Bus stops at the opposite end of the village also go into Alton town centre seven days a week.
Longer distance buses can be caught at the Cuckoos Corner stop on the A31 for travel to Guildford, Farnham and Winchester.

- No unregistered guests. Bringing extra people in addition to the number you have booked for is considered a booking violation, and we will have no other choice but to ask everyone to leave the premises, and your security deposit will be retained.
- If you wish to have visitors, you need to inform us prior to arrival. However, they will not be allowed to stay overnight.
- Any damage to this property is chargeable. This accommodation regrets that it cannot accept liability for any valuables left in the apartment or parking vehicles.
- Respect the noise curfew. Our properties are in a private residential area. Therefore, our duty is to strictly implement a no-noise policy from 10 PM to 7 AM.
- Take extra care of your keys. Keys not left in the designated location as specified in the check-in and check-out instructions will incur a £50 additional charge. A charge of £50 for an emergency callout and £250 for an emergency locksmith charge will be incurred for any loss or unreturned keys.
- Unauthorised late checkout resulting in cancellation of the upcoming booking will be charged to you.
- Non-approved check-outs after 10 AM will incur a charge of £25 per hour.

- "This is a small 2-bed house with tasteful modern decor. The appliances and fittings are all new and the furnishings very comfortable. As stated, there is parking for two medium size cars, but not SUVs. There was no house book with instructions as to how to change the heating or put out rubbish. But the owner responded rapidly when we asked how to change the heating. There is a small Tesco Express nearby where most basic provisions can be bought. Would recommend without hesitation. "

We are located on the edge of the South Downs 30/40mins from larger towns (Farnham, Basingstoke, Southampton and Winchester).

The space
Our house is situated in rural Medstead village, on the edge of Four Marks village with easy access to the A31 Winchester Road. We are 5mins from Chawton village (the home of Jane Austen) & 10mins from Alton Market Town and station.

We live in a newly built house, with open, quiet space to the front of our house and a large garden to the rear which is not overlooked.

The room is a spacious double bedroom with a king bed plus an en-suite, looking out to the rear of the property towards the steam train line. Included in the room is a small convenience fridge, kettle with complimentary tea and coffee plus a hairdryer and a safe. WiFi is available for guests also.

We also provide a basic ‘help yourself’ style breakfast which includes a selection of cereals and bread for toasting.

We have local convenience shops within a 5minute walk plus a range of takeaway options for dinner. Guests are welcome to use our kitchen to eat dinner if they use the takeaway options.

The house itself is rustic and sits on a hill with views of the valley. Alton town is a short walking distance. There are several supermarkets nearby. You will find my house rustic with interesting art and craft which is all about my life and travels. You are welcome to use the garden which is pleasant and tranquil to sit in.

The property is on the 3rd floor and is easily accessed by an iron staircase. Parking is available in the central car park a minutes walk away. There are lots of local wedding venues in the area and a great taxi service if you happen to be a guest at a wedding. The train station is 11 mins walk and trains go straight to Waterloo in 55 mins.

I have been a chef all my life so I can cook up something delicious at a reasonable price if you fancy a meal in.

The house is located in Alton, a short walk into town. Alton Railway station is approx 15 min walk. There are trains running every half hour to London Waterloo and regular buses to Basingstoke, Winchester and Guildford.

Local attractions include Jane Austen's house, Gilbert White's museum and the Watercress Line. Jane Austen's house is approximately 15 mins walk or there is a bus 5 mins from my house.

There is also beautiful countryside and many walks e.g. Hanger Way and Pilgrims Way.

A lovely spacious double room with lock in town house (3 storeys) comprising of a small double bed; wardrobe; chest of drawers; dressing table/desk and chair, tv; wi-fi. Private use of bathroom next door which includes wc, bath and shower. (I have my own en-suite on 3rd floor).

By the way, history fans will love to know that Farringdon was an established settlement in the Domesday Book -- with 33 households, putting it in the largest 40% of settlements then recorded. It had 11 villagers, 20 smallholders and 2 slaves; 10 ploughlands, 1 Lord's plough team and 8 men's plough teams. Farringdon's annual value to the Lord in 1066 was --- 15 pounds!

The space
Enter into a comfortable living area with a dining table and desk, TV and armchairs. Books, jigsaws, backgammon and playing cards are available too.

The double bedroom looks over the back garden and has a chest of drawers with a hairdryer plus hooks with hangers. The bed is made up with 100% cotton linen and feather pillows/duvet - if you are allergic please let us know so we can swap with fibre ones.

The kitchen has a kettle, toaster, microwave, fridge/freezer, electric cooker (a bit old but still in good working order!) and a washing machine. There is plenty of crockery, glasses, cutlery, pots, pans and a baking tray, plus a set of knives should you wish to prepare something yourself - although the pub is highly recommended. Coffee, tea, sugar, salt, pepper, oil, vinegar and milk are also available.

The bathroom has both a shower and bath. Towels, shampoo, body wash and toilet rolls are provided.

You are welcome to use the garden furniture at the rear of the property for dining or relaxing - outside the bedroom window.

A parking space is on the drive in front of the house. Lockbox for key in porch on right of house. Someone is usually at home if help required.

Other things to note
It should be noted that the railway line to/from Alton runs along the back of the garden. There are only two electric trains up and two trains down an hour that pass in a few seconds. Unobtrusive when the double glazed windows are closed.

Located in the semi-rural village of Four Marks, you’ll enjoy beautiful views over our garden and horse paddocks, along with the comforts of a home-from-home.

Please note: the annexe is split-level and accessed via stairs, so it is not suitable for those with mobility issues.

The main electric trip switches for the property are located in the entrance hall of the annexe. While we respect your privacy completely, we may very occasionally need access in the rare event of a power issue.

Please also note, we are a pet-loving family with dogs and horses on the property – but don’t worry, you won’t come into contact with the dogs. The annexe has a separate entrance and no shared indoor space.

Beautiful barn space in the heart of the Hampshire countryside situated on the edge of a village. On the first floor there is a UK Superking bed which can be split into twin beds at £15 extra cost, a table for two people and shower room. Breakfast items such as fruit, yoghurt, bread for toast, jams, honey, marmite are provided along with tea and 'real' coffee.

** Although there is a small kitchenette, there are no cooking facilities for hot food preparation **

The space
The barn at Lyfield house sits in its own space in the driveway of the main house and boasts the best views of the whole property. There is a king size double bed made with crisp white cotton sheets and an en suite shower room with fluffy bath towels. Being completely separate from the main house means you can relax in total privacy.

There is a tiny kitchen where you will also find breakfast staples such as teas, coffee, sugar, honey, marmite, and cereal and on your arrival the fridge will be stocked with butter, milk, jam, juice and bread, so you can enjoy your breakfast in your own time and at your own pace. The kitchen is equipped a small fridge, a kettle and a toaster.

**The hob is not for use by guests so hot food cannot be prepared.**

There is a hair dryer, unlimited wifi and a television, a washer/dryer, iron and ironing board are available on request.

There is a gym downstairs which can be used by arrangement and at your own risk - I'd always go through machine instructions before use.

The tennis court outside can also be used by arrangement.

On the edge of the South Downs National Park Alton is surrounded by beautiful countryside ideal for cycling and walking. The space
We aim to make your stay as comfortable and convenient as possible - enjoy premium bed linen and beds, new shower room with complimentary toiletries and bath robes, and in the kitchen a fridge, kettle, toaster, nespresso coffee machine, convection microwave grill, two induction rings, washing machine and tumble dryer for your use. Breakfast foods will be provided with a selection of teas and coffee.

Brand new annexe built in 2024 next to our picturesque 16th century thatched cottage. The perfect blend of quintessential English charm you would expect in Jane Austen's village, combined with all the mod cons of modern living. A 17th century, beautiful cottage set in Chawton village, and a minute's walk from Jane Austen's house & museum. It has good access to London via train or car and is the perfect escape to a quintessential English village and countryside experience. We love the cottage for its unique charm and warmth, and we hope to extend that to you during your stay!

The space
Bay Tree is a unique 17th Century cozy, and inviting English cottage. There are two double bedrooms upstairs, one bathroom, sitting room (with fire place), dining room and a fully equipped kitchen. There is a small secluded back garden with lawn, flowers and an outdoor eating area.

We want you to feel completely at home, and the cottage really has a special charm. We look after Bay Tree with love and care and wish our guests to feel the same.

The space
Sited in a private paddock, The Stables living quarters have been refurbished to a high specification with reclaimed wood, marble kitchen counters and an outdoor kitchen.

Sleeping quarters: 5 bunk beds consisting of a double and 3 singles in one room. All full size so can accommodate five adults. A travel cot can be provided on request.
The bathroom has a separate entrance to the bedroom/living room and provides guests with a shower with hot water on demand, WC and sink.
The separate kitchen has an electric hob, microwave, fridge, kettle and is well equipped. Two sides of the kitchen room open up to allow guests to enjoy views across the paddock as they eat. The Stables also has an outdoor kitchen area where guests can cook on charcoal or gas BBQs and a picnic table is provided for al fresco meals.

Surrounded by pasture and trees with rural views, guests will be able to relax and listen to the buzzards calling. There are plenty of spaces to curl up with a book, bask in the sun or play in the field.

During the summer, local villages and businesses hold a variety of fetes and musical events that may, on occasion, be audible from the property. The hosts will share any information they have ahead of your visit.

The owners run a small holding and depending on the season, livestock may be present in fenced areas on the paddock. Guests can buy eggs, bacon and honey when available. BBQ/Fire pit: wood and charcoal are also available to buy (£9 and £2.50 respectively).

Chawton is a picturesque Hampshire village located in the South Downs National Park. The Garden House is set in 3 acres of mature gardens within walking distance of The Jane Austen Museum, Chawton House Library and Cassandras' Cup Cafe.

The space
Set in 3 acres of beautifully maintained historical gardens The Garden House is a comfortable five bedroom family house.
Chawton is a small quintessential English village and was home to the novelist Jane Austen who spent the last 8 years of her life in a 17th century house which is now preserved as a museum in her memory.

The Garden House was originally the Gardener’s Cottage to Chawton House owned by Jane Austen’s brother. It is located in what was the third walled garden of Chawton House.

Guests will have their own bedroom with king size double bed and ensuite bathroom and shower room. This room also has a small single bed. There is a second bedroom also available at additional charge (please enquire) with a standard double bed and adjacent separate bathroom for a party of four. There is a large Drawing Room with open fireplace. Breakfast will be served in the Dining Room.

Whilst staying at the Meadow, there's lots of parking around the back of the property suitable for all sizes of vehicles. There is a lovely enclosed garden which is shared between all guests and finally a boot room for washing facilities for anyone with a dog or if you wish to use the washing machine for any clothing.

The Gilbert White Tap room is available 3 nights a week around the front of the building and is open for a few hours each evening and longer hours in the summer.

This is a self contained annexe of a lovely farm house. Guests have private parking and can come and go as they please. There is a lovely double room with garden and rural views, with ensuite shower/wc , a well equipped compact kitchen/diner and television downstairs. There will be basics in the fridge. Dogs welcome in the lobby.

There is a small garden within the grounds with an ornamental pond and a table snd chairs which is for guests exclusive use but because of the water and the large unfenced pond elsewhere in the larger garden we cannot accommodate toddlers or older children .

There is a heated swimming pool and tennis court which guests can use by arrangement. There is also good dog walking up to the woods directly from the house.

Other things to note
The swimming pool is heated in the summer and is shared by arrangement with hosts. Guests can have exclusive use of a charming walled garden with table and chairs etc- This is not suitable for toddlers as it has an ornamental pond.
