The room itself was spotlessly clean with the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. We hadn't booked breakfast but decided to order as we arrived, the cost was £15 each per night, it was delicious with fresh fruit and cereal to start and then a full English with gorgeous bacon and sausages. Nothing was too much trouble for the host, he was so lovely. We had such a wonderful stay we didn't want to go home. Would definitely stay here again it's a gem of a place. Would stay again but not in the room we had (#12) as the access isn’t the best - I’m 6’ 3” and the entrance door is only about 5’ 2”. - "50 stairs separate the loft from street level but the view is great. Nice views from all the windows except the one that opens onto the roof, which you might expect. The apartment isn't for tall people though and above 5'8" might be a little cramped. My wife and i now know how Quasimodo got his hump. That said I would not hold it against the nicely laid out apartment with its exposed 300 year old wood beams. A lovely place to stay right in the heart of the old city and immersed in history. Location & Getting Around: Easy access into City of York: A 5–10 minute walk to the Park and Ride bus stop provides a 10–15 minute journey into the city. (Last bus back is at 10:45 PM). An alternative, slower bus service is just a 1-minute walk away. Walking time into the city takes around 35 minutes.

Local amenities: Within a 2-minute walk, you'll find a convenience store, coffee shop, post office, and a fish and chip takeaway. Pub Restaurants, e.g., The Dormouse, are a 10-minute walk.

The house is near the 'Way of The Roses' Cycling path, Rawcliffe Country Park, a fishing lake, Clifton Moor retail centre and Aldi.

Parking: Completely free on-street parking is available outside the house in this quiet residential area. No permit is required. Leave the car outside the house and take the Park and Ride busand free yourself from the stress and expense of parking in the city centre.

Breakfast: I do not serve breakfast. A small selection of complimentary tea, coffee, cereal, and snacks is provided in your room. Local cafes and stores are just a 2-minute walk away.

There is one steep step at the entrance to the property, and one flight of stairs consisting of 14 steps with hand rail up to the guest room on the first floor.

There is no lounge, kitchen or dining room access.

You can eat a takeout in the privacy of your room. There is a kettle, microwave, mini fridge and hairdryer in the guest room. There is easy access to a shared iron and ironing board on ground floor.

I do not provide breakfast. However, I do leave some breakfast type snacks in your room in case it's a brief overnight stop and you haven't had time to shop.

I do provide a laundry service but there is a fee of £7 for this wash and dry service for guests staying less than 5 days. I have to do it for you as these facilities are in a small, private space. There is a commercial laundry service nearby I'd preferred.

There is easily available on street parking. This is free and no permit is needed.

An executive large double room in a large home with a welcoming family. Located within one of the area’s most sought after villages offering contemporary living accommodation with comfort and luxury.
We have two small children, 4 cats and a small Pomeranian dog. Furnished with a double bed this room is at the front of the house with a view of the street. The dedicated guest bathroom may be shared depending on the guests we have staying.

This truly stunning family residence offers flexible living accommodation across three storeys and has been finished to the highest standard. To the ground floor is a superb open plan kitchen with a range of integrated appliances as well as two further reception rooms. The property sits on a substantial plot with gardens to both the front and rear that have been thoughtfully designed and meticulously maintained. There is a resin gravel driveway offering ample off-street parking to the front and side of the property as well as a double garage with electrically operated door and loft space above. To the rear is a generous south west facing garden that is predominately laid to lawn with well-stocked borders and a stone flagged outside terraced area ideal for entertaining guests in the warmer summer months.

The village of Askham Bryan derives its popularity not only from its pleasant character but also its very convenient position for all those commuting to and from Leeds and other West Yorkshire business centres along the A64 to the A1 motorway and M1 link road.

We are 3.9 miles from the centre of York. Bus stops are 2 mins and 8 mins walk away from our house. The latter runs the Coastliner Bus service into York every 30 minutes. We are also less than a 5 min drive to Askham Bar Park and Ride where you can get the bus into the centre of York.

The property is accessed through a pillared entrance with a remote operated sliding gate leading to the private driveway that offers ample off street parking. Upon entering the property, there is a substantial oak floor hallway providing access to the downstairs living accommodation as well as having a useful WC and understairs storage cupboard.

Guest are welcome to share communal spaces such as kitchen, family room and outdoor areas.

We tend to keep our lounge for family use only so our children can spread out and play with their toys.

We live in a nice cul-de-sac.. Our home is in a nice residential area. We have a lovely garden which you are more than welcome to use to relax in .You can use our kitchen to make hot drinks anytime of the day.We provide a good sized Continental breakfast.

The location is excellent: just steps away from a Morrison Daily and a Sainsbury’s, and less than a three-minute walk to the bus stop that takes you directly to York city centre. If you prefer walking, the city centre is only a 20-25 minute stroll away.

Our home is ideal for those looking for a peaceful stay, yet well-connected to all that York has to offer.

Guest will have access to the rooms and the shared bathroom, which is located upstairs. Free parking is available on-site, and the garden is currently being remodeled but will be ready for use during the summer. Please note that the living room and kitchen are not available for use. The guest will be provided with keys to the main entrance for secure and independent access. The property is equipped with surveillance cameras to ensure a comfortable and safe stay.

A room in a family home, suitable as a short-stay crash-pad. Very central, within the city walls. Everything in the centre of York is a short walk away.

Good bits: great location, close to the station and all the best of central York
Less good bits: this is a family home and an old building. It's creaky, wonky and small. You'll be living like we do!

Also, we have. young cocker spaniel dog, so it's best if you love dogs rather than just tolerate them, because he's super affectionate.

The space
Our house is a corner property overlooking the city walls. It was built as a workers cottage in the 1880's. You are sharing the property with me, the owner, and I work from home maybe half the day. Our spare bedroom (your room) has a small double bed (120cm wide), a desk, wardrobe and chest of drawers. We have two bathrooms to share, a nice kitchen and a dining room.

We can sell you a visitor parking permit (£5/day) to use on the street if you wish to bring a car. We are 10 minutes walk from the railway station.
