Also, we were told we would get the email with a code to open the house, but it did not arrive and we wasted a lot of time to get it in the end. "

My room was next to the rear exit and washing machines where on until after 11.30pm with people loading washing in. Wasnt ideal. After booking i was sent a email to pay a deposit which was not mentioned and 7 days after checking out still had no refund and no reply to emails. Definitely cannot recommend this place. Was cheap but with the deposit not being refunsed i could of stayed somewhere much better for less."

- "I was in Huddersfield for work. I travel a lot and rarely have I had such a poor experience. This property - as it stands - should probably be taken off Expedia until service is dealt with. This is NOT a luxury flat. It looks ok in the photos but in reality is is cheap, cramped and dirty. It was a bad stay. No wifi. I wrote an email, messaged on Whatsapp, texted and phoned to report this and fix it fixed and I received no response from the accommodation. The window is not sealed and left in a bitterly cold draft. The bathroom and kitchen utensils were not clean. The shower extractor fan is covered in dust - thick dust stuck to it. - "We had a lovely couple of nights stay, it was very peaceful and secluded at the cabin which was perfect. We were pretty much left to our own devices which was quite nice, although we knew the wardens were on site if anything was needed. Lovely set of amenities provided so we were able to cook for ourselves. Only things I would request more of were a sponge for washing dishes (dish soap provided but no way to clean the dishes so we bought our own), and also some extra loo rolls! We ran out on our final morning, we were given one roll and a few sheets on a spare in the cupboard. Whilst we could have asked for more if we had time, this might have been easier to just have a full spare roll in the cabin to begin with. The bed was very comfy and it was nice to pull the sofa bed out as well to put our feet up (although we did find a previous guest’s crochet needle in the sofa bed so perhaps a more thorough check over is needed between guests). The guest book was a lovely touch and we enjoyed writing our experiences in it and reading those of previous guests. Overall a lovely stay and we are already planning on returning! Thank you"

A full size double bedroom at the front of the house, with views across town. This is a a very quiet residential area 20 mins walk from Huddersfield town centre and the University. Please note, being Yorkshire it is hilly!
The bathroom is shared with me, with full access to kitchen, conservatory and garden.

The space
Double bedroom has drawers and hangers, and a small desk. Shared bathroom with shower over the bath.
The kitchen opens onto the conservatory, which has comfy seating and a dining table.
There is also seating on the patio, and the private garden has grass and borders, with woods behind. There's room to park on the drive.

Guest access
Guests can use the kitchen to make drinks, heat food in the microwave, and store food in the fridge, but not to cook.
There is a dining table and comfortable seating in the conservatory, and guests can sit on the patio. The living room is my private space. You can park on the drive.

During your stay
I'm retired so I'm in and out during the day, often around in the evening. I've lived in Huddersfield for over 40 years so I know the area.

A colourful home owned my designer Kate. She loves ceramics and all things mid-century. Dog friendly home as Kate has a young cocker spaniel called Dottie. Her house is located in the centre of the lovely village of Slaithwaite. Perfect base for anyone wanting to explore the Pennine hills surrounded, the Huddersfield Narrow Canal runs behind the back of the house so great for canal walks too. Local amenities are on your doorstep and trainline running directly to Manchester and Leeds.

The space
This is Kate's home, she currently lovingly decorating room by room (mostly complete). The house is a small mid terrace on one of the main streets of Slaithwaite. The guest room is located at the rear with views of the large mill that is currently being restored. There is also views of the canal (mainly winter when the trees have no leaves). The house has high ceilings and is light and airy. The stairs are quite steep so not suitable for anyone who struggles with stairs. Newly installed bathroom with a great roll top bath and waterfall shower. Kitchen/diner with all amenities, cooker & fridge etc.
The guest bedroom (palm leaf wallpaper see photos) has a double bed, TV, full length mirror, hairdryer, towels etc. A sofa bed is also available if needed.

Living room and kitchen can be used but preferably when I’m not using the space.

During your stay
This my home so will be around during your stay. I also have a dog so she will be around the house too. She is kept out of the guest bedroom at all times.
I am happy to chat and share local knowledge. I work at home during the day.

Other things to note
I have a dog called Dottie, she will be around but is friendly and fully house trained. She is kept out of the guest room at all times.

I just ask you make sure the living room door is closed before opening the front door so there’s no risk of her getting out.

The Button Box is a ground floor converted outbuilding situated in the village of Golcar in West Yorkshire. It provides one double bedroom with an en-suite shower, the property can sleep two people. Also inside there is an open-plan living area with a kitchen, a dining area and a sitting area. To the outside there is plenty of off road parking and a south-facing garden with a lawn and a patio area with furniture. The Button Box is a well-presented property in a fine location for exploring West Yorkshire, the Peak District and even the Southern Dales.

Welcome to my cozy, three-bedroom home in Huddersfield, just a 10-minute stroll from the University of Huddersfield and conveniently close to Asda, Aldi, and Sainsbury’s. You can also reach Tesco and the train station with a 20-minute walk. You’ll be renting one of the two available guest rooms, while I occupy the third. Feel free to stay active using the gym bicycle provided. Enjoy a comfortable, well-located stay with easy access to everything Huddersfield has to offer!
