- "Our family of 6 enjoyed this wonderful home. Loved there was an elevator from garage for us over 70 folks. Everything you would need is here from pots and pans and dishes and glasses. Even aluminum foil and cling wrap. Plenty of room for everyone to stretch out and not be on top of each other. And the VIEW! beautiful even in the rain. Bathrooms with heated floors. Bunk beds for kids. And the VIEW! Even an outdoor grill. House is a little bit hard to find the first time around. It is right next to the bus stop. Also the road up is a little wonky. Be aware that for anyone tall the door ways and the third floor ceiling are low. The balcony which wrapped around the second floor had amazing views of the gardens and the mountains. It was the place for coffee in the morning and a glass of wine in the nighttime. Christine and Christian are fantastic hosts. They were very friendly and welcoming. Christine made breakfast every morning using local ingredients from the dairy, butcher’s shop, and bakery. Her fondue was fabulous and Christian was wonderful at bar-b-que in the outdoor garden. Their English is strong and Christine was super about looking up information and answering all of our questions. They are both very knowledgeable about the local region, spots to visit, tourist areas, with hiking suggestions. The boys loved the pool area while the adults enjoyed the lounging chairs – it was the best place to relax. Another world experience gazing up at the Alps sitting in the beautiful Bachsbort gardens. The property is located directly at Burglauenen train station. Every 30 minutes, a train goes towards Grindelwald and towards Interlaken. The nearest shopping area is in the Grindelwald terminal, which can be reached in just 7 minutes by train. The Coop in the terminal is open as follows: Monday to Saturday from 8:00 - 18:00 and 365 days. Further shopping and takeaways can be found 3 train minutes further in Grindelwald Dorf. The Coop is also open on Sundays.

Grindelwald
Situated in the heart of mighty mountain massifs, Grindelwald is a well-known yet cosy, family-friendly holiday resort. The local bus can be used free of charge with a guest card (guest card is issued on arrival).

Possible activities in summer
Tennis (6 outdoor courts), golf (9 holes), mini-golf, fishing (with permit), paragliding, tobogganing on a toboggan run (length 725 m), climbing park, mountain hikes on 300 km of hiking trails (children's trails available), mountain tours, climbing, mountain biking, children's playground.

Possible activities in winter
The Grindelwald ski area has: 51 ski runs with a total length of 213 km (35 % easy, 45 % medium, 15 % difficult), snowboard runs, snow park, half pipe. There are ski schools (alpine), snowboard schools and children's ski schools. Grindelwald also has 30 km of cross-country ski trails, 100 km of winter hiking trails, toboggan runs (some of which are floodlit), an ice rink, a natural ice rink and a curling rink. The ski bus can be used free of charge with the guest card.
Other ski areas: Wengen, Mürren, Schilthorn.

In winter, please bring snow chains.

The separate studio is small but nice. After a quiet night, you can look at the surrounding beautiful mountains from the terrace in the morning. Trains and a bus stop are almost at your doorstep. New from winter 2020, we have the new EIGEREXPRESS, a state-of-the-art 3S gondola that takes you to the Eiger glacier at the foot of the north face of the Eiger in 15 minutes.

Cozy, small and bright 1-room studio apartment with the most beautiful view of the majestic mountains. Enjoy the tranquility and the beautiful view, all just a 5-minute walk from the village.

Fridge and dishes/utensils are provided. No kitchen - cooking is not allowed.

Attention: in the months of December - March, depending on road conditions, access is only possible with a 4x4 vehicle and snow chains.

The space
You will stay in a small 1-room studio with a bathroom with shower and toilet. In the studio you will find a cozy bed, a high table with two high chairs, a fridge, microwave and cutlery/dishes. Attention: it has no kitchen - cooking is not allowed.

It also has a dresser where you can store and hang clothes, for example.
The studio is small but nice and a perfect base to explore the mountains.

Guest access
Grindelwald is a mountain village and unfortunately it is unavoidable that the roads lead steeply up the mountain :).

From the train station, the road between the post office and the Hotel Restaurant Kreuz&Post via Kreuzweg runs steeply uphill directly to our house. The "ascent" is worth it, because you will be rewarded here with a magnificent view of Wetterhorn, Mättenberg, Fiescherhörner, Ostegg and of course the Eiger including the imposing north face.
Walking time is about 5-10 minutes. If you are coming on foot, we recommend that you carry your luggage in a backpack and not in a rolling suitcase.


A parking space for the studio is located directly above our house. It is marked accordingly.

Other things to note

We, two adults and two small children, live in the same house, an old Grindelwald chalet, directly above the studio, so children's noise is not always avoidable.
