- "It's right next to a beautiful rushing creek, with a lovely field across it. There is a view of the local ruins. The garden and common/dining area are beautiful as well. The hosts are friendly and attentive. The breakfasts were delicious and fresh. If you don't like white noise, the sound of the creek may not be for you, I enjoyed it. The description advertises down comforters and pillow selections, but that's not the case. We were cold, so we asked, and they provided a space heater, which worked very well. The floors and bathroom were very clean. The shower tiles were slippery for my elderly father, and he wished there were grab bars, but few hotels in the area offer them, it's not a common feature. He walks very slowly, and it wasn't easy to catch a tuktuk from the location, or to get one at night on the way back, but for those who aren't mobility-challanged, it's an easy walk to and from town center. Older adults may wish to be closer to the plaza. Overall we enjoyed our stay, and I would stay again!"

The room was cleaned daily and food was replenished each evening--eggs, cheese, butter, jelly, fruit, coffee, tea, yogurt, and fresh bread (delicious!). The kitchen had an electric kettle for tea and instant coffee (provided). Bottled water was brought to us when requested (very affordable at 2 soles/bottle). Pretty gardens on site. Reception arranged taxis for us to and from the airport and train station as needed at no extra cost (in fact, they negotiated a better price than we could). The neighborhood was quiet and easy to sleep in. We had hot water when we showered, so that was good. CON: one negative was that the bathrooms were a little smelly if we didn't open the bathroom windows, so definitely leave them open as much as possible. But with the windows open/the door closed, it was fine. My kids loved this hotel! We would definitely recommend it."

You are literally on the top of a mountain with views down to the Urabamba river and a glacier on a distant peak. There are only a few staff that work here, and they do everything! From picking you up at the train station and from town when needed (extra fee, contact them through WhatsApp), to cooking a delicious dinner in their small restaurant. This hotel involves switchbacks on a dirt road. The last short stretch is too narrow for a car, so they take you up on a 4-wheeler/quad bike. Don't bring a giant suitcase. There are also stairs involved to get to the domes, so not an option for people with mobility issues. You will get a little winded in the thin air. We were here at the end of March. The domes can get really warm in the daytime sun, there are windows to open to cool it down. It can also get really cool at night. There were extra blankets and a space heater to warm it up. Turn on the space heater before dinner to get the heat started. Beds were comfy, The amount of stars visible at night is amazing!! We would definitely stay here again. The pictures that we posted from Vertical Sky got the most responses from friends out of anything we posted in Peru!"

Then came Edgar the person overseeing La Granja, among some of the best treatment we have received, he also heard that we needed a medicine that was only available in a city about three hours from here. That night He calls me to tell me that he had arranged someone to bring us the medicine the next morning. Wow we ended staying an additional day to enjoy all the alpacas, some great Condor sightings and all from the confort of this paradise in the canyon. More than recommend!! "
