If this was the Hilton or another large chain hotel with hundreds of rooms I could buy that answer. The manager who answered my call recognized my name & remembered the room I stayed in, which means it's a small enough hotel where the staff notices things. With 5-7 rooms total, your cleaning staff most likely did find my shoes, didn't report it (or did - who knows), and kept them. I'm familiar with how South Africa works. It's my own fault I left the shoes. The hotel isn't responsible for my belongings, but they are responsible for their staff & general conduct. The lack of principle here is bothersome: clearly taking advantage of a "foreigner" & the general dishonesty in conducting business. Don't think I'll return. "

We are living in the main house, you’ll have our garden cottage which is at the back of our property. It means, you’ll have your own privacy during your stay!

You are able to park one car on the property and behind gate for safety purposes. The passage on the left of our property brings you directly to the cottage through another safe gate.

Our accommodation is private and has all the amenities you may need during your stay. We hope you’ll feel like at home!

Washing can be done, we have a washing machine for up to 6kg. Guest needs to let us know the day before, we will provide a basket to add your laundry, we will then give you back the basket to put on the drying line once washing is finished. Cost is R60 to be paid cash. Note that we are not taking any responsibility.

Bed linen are changed for long terms stay only (7 days and more) and must be requested the day before it is required.

Ideal for business people who are looking for a peaceful spot to relax while in Somerset West or a couple getting away for the weekend on a budget. Close to Helderberg Nature reserve and Lourensford and Vergelegen Estates. The room has a coffee station with microwave and bar fridge. We also have a small mini portable 2 plate/oven for prepping simple dishes. Outside you can braai at the weber provided or just chill near your own private garden. Feeling energetic? Workout with our exercise equip.

The space
The guests space is made up of a room with a double bed and a small en-suite bathroom. Inside the room we have some basic amenities such as a bar fridge, Microwave, Kettle, TV. The room is a small space so not ideal to spend all day there as it would be cramped. Outside there is an under cover patio with a Weber Kettle Braai, some chairs and a table. Across the patio is a separate space (shared), which has a workspace in with a desk and office chair. This space also has some Gym equipment in and a basic cooking station for guests who would like to make their own simple meals.

The entire space is cordoned off from the rest of the property via means of a gate on the one side and and a reed fence with a gate on the other. You can choose to completely isolate yourself or engage with the rest of the property.

This space is not ideal for a long term stay for more than 1 person. It is simply too small.

The space
The spacious apartment is in a neat,well kept and secure double storey complex. The gardens are attractive and have large lawns. We are surrounded by beautiful mountain ranges. Our nature reserve is nearby for hiking and walking. The private Vergelegen hospital is a 4 minute drive away.

During your stay
Guests are free to come and go as they please. I have a canasta group who come to play twice a week and occasionally have friends over for a meal.
Airbnb guests have access to all the spaces besides my bedroom. The kitchen is well equipped and has a washing machine, dishwasher,airfryer,microwave etc. I like a clean kitchen so request guests to clean up after they have used it. A cleaning lady will come in once a week to clean the whole apartment. I only have Utube on my large TV. Guests are free to watch TV at any time. The office space is usually free. I occasionally paint there or use the laptop for short periods when something needs to be printed. The whole apartment is spacious and light.

The apartment is on the first floor. The steps leading up to my front door are easy to navigate.

The space
Our delightful loft studio apartment is ideally situated in Stuart's Hill, Somerset West, affording guests the perfect base from which to explore the Helderberg Basin (a collection of neighbouring towns, namely Somerset West, The Strand and Gordons Bay). Our beautiful area is nestled near the foot of the Helderberg Mountain and offers a host of outdoor attractions. Within a 5-minute drive, nature enthusiasts can experience a hike up the Helderberg Mountain or prepare a picnic and enjoy the sprawling lawn of the Helderberg Nature Reserve. A 15-minute drive will get you to our golden, sand-covered beaches or a visit to the Cheetah Outreach preservation centre. There are no less than 6 golf courses within a short drive, the closest being a 7-minute drive to the Erinvale Golf Estate Hotel and Spa. Plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, day spa, craft market, curio shops, art galleries, grocery store, pharmacy, information centre, and more are within short walking distance from the Studio on McLeod.

Guest access
Guests have sole access to the Studio apartment with private north-facing balcony and are also welcome to relax in our pond garden. There is free off-street parking on the property behind a motorised driveway gate and palisade fence. We subscribe to 24-hour armed security response services. For security purposes, access for non-registered guests/visitors must first be cleared with the hosts. Guests will receive a set of keys and remote control and are free to come and go as they please.

PETS: GUESTS BOOKING THE STUDIO MUST LOVE CATS
We have 4 friendly feline family members who like to meet and greet all of our guests and visitors. They are very sociable and you may find them sunning themselves on your balcony or popping in for a love. Our guests have expressed delight at their cheery visits. We follow a thorough cleaning regime, however we cannot guarantee that the space is 100% fur free as our guests usually allow our cats to visit them inside the space and cuddle with them on the bed.

WATER SAVING:
Cape Town has recently come out of a drought, but the region’s water resources are still under pressure. We ask that our guests be mindful of their water usage and "save like a local". On arrival, please take a moment to read the "How To" guide on water-saving tips.

ELECTRICITY:
Please be mindful of power usage (particularly kettle and hair dryer). All citizens conserve electricity as they do water.

LOAD-SHEDDING:
What does load shedding mean in South Africa?
Load shedding requires switching off parts of South Africa's electric grid in a planned and controlled manner due to insufficient capacity or to avoid a countrywide blackout.
You can download "Eskomsepush" from your app store, which notifies the date and time when a specific area will be switched off. Somerset West (City of Cape Town, Western Cape) is Area 3.

SECURITY:
For security reasons, to protect our guests and our family, access to the property is only granted to our registered guests, unless otherwise arranged with the host.
Guests are required to ensure that the motorised driveway gate closes fully when arriving and leaving the property. Security gates must remain closed and locked at all times. These are precautionary measures for the safety of everyone on the property. Please keep in mind that minors live here.
We subscribe to 24-hour security armed response services, emergency numbers are on the noticeboard in the studio.

My home is located in a beautiful tree lined area of Somerset West. The light filled home and room have stunning mountain views. The room is upstairs and is fitted with a queen size bed and leads to a balcony where the views can be enjoyed. The use of a private bathroom with bath and shower is included.

A Private Room and dedicated full bathroom is located upstairs with views over the stunning Helderberg and Hottentot-holland Mountains. Downstairs is a open plan living room with a small dining space and fully equiped kitchen. All of downstairs lead out to a cosy garden.
