- "Amazong" - "An outstanding hotel where you are made to feel like royalty from the moment you arrive. That entails free courtesy parking which, given how busy Church Street is, was most welcome. Our room was spacious and our bathroom huge, we've had smaller bedrooms. Everything you could reasonably want was provided in the room , which was immaculate. We ate in the restaurant twice. The first time our main course was lamb shank, which simply fell off the bone, accompanied by an excellent local merlot. On the second night we ate off the "set" menu, there were at least three choices for each course, with matching wines served in generous glasses. I had wonderfully tender ostrich steak and my wife Kingklip. There was an extensive breakfast buffet with fresh fruit, cooked meats and cheese. There were also a range of hot options. My eggs florentine were particularly good. The best feature of the hotel was the staff who were unfailing friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone and they were always happy to help you. We would genuinely think about going back to Stellenbosch just to stay here again."

We loved the large garden and the proximity to their Carnival playground. Unfortunately it seems that no one is paying attention to the details. Their website is very professional but the staff on site isn't reflecting that. For example the apartment had broken chairs, loose towel bar and closet door, ... that would require maintance. Weirdest thing was the bottle of local wine on our room. There was no cork screw in the apartment to open it and unfortunately the Jonkershuis restaurant nearby already closes at 6pm. We were able to solve it next day but also charged for the bottle on checkout with the comment that there should have been a note next to it (there was no note). A comment on breakfast: Very nice options (liked the eggs benedict) but you need to be patient as the service is slow. Took us 30 minutes to order although there were almost no other guests on one day. Overall they could make much more out of it with all the nice surroundings."

The cottage has 2 bedrooms. One for the owner, the other with 3/4 size bed, mosquito net and cupboard space. The bathroom has a shower, no bath, and the living space is small but has all you need to have a comfortable homey time. The front porch has a built in braai and is the main gathering space in the cottage. The yard is big, and there's space for gardening.
In the summer we arrange a splash pool to be set up, and in the winter the little cast iron fire place keeps the whole cottage warm.
This is a safe area. There are 3 other cottages on the premises, and alert dogs to alarm if needed.

Our lovely garden cottage is hidden in the beautiful farm community of Jamestown, surrounded by mountains and just outside of Stellenbosch. The area is economically and racially mixed with old locals, creatives and even famous Stellenbosch restaurateur calling it home. It's a gem of a place and we love staying here!

Our cottage is private, spacious and well kitted with power back up for the Wifi & lights. Only 5mins away from the nearby mall, restaurants, wine estates, markets and Techno Park.
