Jump into your car and make short work of the 10-minute drive to Fort Casey State Park or the 10-minute drive to Fort Casey (and enjoy the property's convenient covered onsite parking in the meantime).

Maple Cove Hideaway is magical! The entire front of the house is covered in glass allowing unobstructed water views out to Camano Island, Hat Island and the snow capped Cascades, including Mt. Baker, in the background. The end of road privacy combined with the sensational views is truly amazing! Double french doors open from the family room on to a large, 500 square foot deck that brings you even closer to the water. Enjoy a cup of coffee on the deck and watch the sunrise over the Cascades, have a meal at the table overlooking the water or leave the french doors open to bring the outside in.

The cabin is less than two miles from the charming artist town of Langley. Great restaurants, a micro brewery, coffee shops, shopping, grocery store, live theater and an old fashioned movie theater are just some of the attractions in Langley.

The cabin has been completely renovated from roof to foundation. It's very cozy with a gas fireplace and a modern rustic vibe. A fully equipped kitchen is only missing your mad cooking skills and ingredients from the local farmers market to produce gourmet meals. Curl up in the cozy family room to watch a movie (Netflix is provided) or be entertained by the "Amazon Echo".

There is a sleeping loft upstairs with a comfy queen size bed and an extra long twin bed. There is also a queen, high quality sofa bed in the family room. This is not your typical marginal sofa bed; it's very comfortable. Two floor to ceiling windows upstairs provide a great place to watch the world go by.

Connectivity is great with 1 Gig Fiber internet and blue tooth connectivity to the large flat screen TV and sound bar with subwoofer to play your music from your phone. There are four conveniently located USB ports to charge your devices.

The cabin is accessible by car from the south via a 15 minute Mukilteo/Clinton ferry, from the north by crossing over the Deception pass bridge or from the west via the Port Townsend/Coupeville ferry. Once on the island drive times are approx.10 minutes from Clinton, 25 minutes from Coupeville and 1 hour from Deception pass. Regardless of how you get to the island you will immediately experience the slower pace of life on Whidbey and the friendly, welcoming residents.

There is so much to explore on the island. - "This is such a cute little place. Very clean and comfortable. The town of Coupeville has many wonderful restaurants that we tried and were delicious. It also has a lot of interesting history. Coupeville is a sleepy town during the week and things close up by 8 pm, although the weekends may have more options for a nightcap or drink if you chose. The owners wine shop below is open Wed-Sat or Sunday and is a treat for wine tasting!" - "We wanted a little getaway where we could have nature and quaintness all at our fingertips. In less than a two minute walk, we had access to restaurants, ice cream, book shops, gift shops, wines shops, the beach shore, and the long dock that leads out to the picturesque wharf. Nestled on famous Penn Cove, this charming single-story, 2BR, 2BA home offers direct beach access, stunning 180° views of the Olympic and Cascade Mountains and all the comforts of home including Air Conditioning.

NEW! For 2025 is central AC for those few hot days we now get. An efficient NEW mini-split heat pump has been installed in 2025 for quiet and comfortable heating and cooling.

Unwind on our spacious deck, gather around the fire pit, stroll the beach, hide away on the private outdoor promontory, or cozy up inside to enjoy the scenery. Plus, enjoy seasonal use of kayaks and a rowboat (waiver required).

Most comfortable for groups of up to four Guests, but we can accommodate a fifth Guest with an additional fee. Children, including infants need to be included in Guest count as we are on a sensitive two bedroom septic system.

Conveniently located between Coupeville and Oak Harbor, enjoy fabulous VIEWS south across Penn Cove of the Olympic Mountains and Coupeville, and east of the Cascades! Sandpiper Haven is truly a bird watcher's paradise with floating flocks of resident and migratory water fowl and overhead visits by a neighboring family of eagles. For the seafood lovers, try mussel and clam digging and enjoy fishing just steps from the back door.

The day brings beautiful views of boats, seals and otters playing in the water, and of the snowy peaks of the Olympic Mountains rising in the distance beyond the shores of Penn Cove. To the east catch glimpses of the Cascade Mountains as well. The house is south facing to capture the warmth of the sun on a large private deck in fair weather, or inspire romance watching storm-churned waves while comfortably seated indoors by the large stone fireplace with esthetic LED candle light and drift wood insert.

Evenings can be spent by a private fire pit roasting marshmallows, curled up with a book in our comfy Great Room, playing games and doing puzzles with friends and family, or watching a movie.

Or, you may prefer an evening out with great dining options in Coupeville, Langley, Oak Harbor and beyond.

This is a low-allergen environment. For this reason, no pets (including service animals) and no smoking /vaping/marijuana use are permitted in the house or on any part of the property, including the deck, gardens, and promontory. Odors can waft from outside into the house and our rules are strictly enforced. Thank you for your commitment to keeping our home low-allergen. Ask if you have any questions.

During Peak Months (basically May through Sept, and occasionally later in April and early October) also enjoy access to two sea kayaks and a 12' Rowboat to Qualified Guests to explore the cove, fish or crab. We have crabbing and fishing gear too. Separate signed waiver required to access the boats. Ask before you book if you need confirmation if the boats are available to you outside of May through September dates.

Also, possible access to the local small, private, heated outdoor community pool as our valued Guests mid-June through Labor Day is on a limited basis. We cannot guarantee pool access to Guests as our CC&R is subject to changing their rules without notice.

We have a heavenly pillow-top Queen Bed in the Master, and two twins in the 2nd bedroom also with pillow-top mattresses, that you an push together to make a King Bed (extra linens and a joiner are provided). A sleeper sofa with additional memory foam topper is in the Living Room, and the couch is also the size of a twin bed with the cushions removed. We provide extra linens to help accommodate your sleeping arrangements. We even provide a portable crib and bedding for infants.

An outdoor private promontory allows you to get further away from it all, boasting even more up front amazing views down the beach and across Penn Cove towards Coupeville and the mountains.

Action seekers may kayak the cove (seasonal use of our boats with waiver) or explore the many hiking and bike trails within minutes from the house. Bring your own boat, kayak, or stand up paddle board and launch it from our private community-owned boat launch and dock just several houses from the property.

The house was built in 2003 so is well-insulated and perfect for year-round enjoyment and newly updated heating and cooling systems for central heat and air. Many Guests spend their holidays here, finding plenty of cookware and now also enjoy (2024) our new stainless appliances to their cook holiday meals.

More about the area: The historic waterfront town of Coupeville, visible across the cove, can be reached in minutes by car. Oak Harbor, to the North, is also minutes away for major shopping amenities and restaurants. And to the West lies Historical Ebey's Landing Preserve and the nearby Coupeville Ferry with service to historic Port Townsend. Greenbank Winery, antiques shops, galleries, the town of Langley, and Deception Pass are also nearby. Are you a Practical Magic fan? Find iconic movie locations nearby.

Best suited for: families, romantic getaways, anniversary celebrations, couples retreats, friend weekends away, visiting others during a local reunion, remote work location, lodging while attending a local workshop, attending a wedding, holiday gatherings, anniversary presents for the grandparents, adventure-seekers, and many more. Although we can only accommodate up to 5 Guests, and cannot host events, it is a great stepping off point for enjoying other events on the island.

Note, although we allow for "instant book", we send follow-up questions for Guests to answer to make sure we are a good fit with each other. In the very rare instance, if we discover Guests are not the right fit (such as bringing too many Guests, or pets, or previous poor reviews, or smokers), we request you cancel your booking. To be honest, this has only come up about twice in over 14 years of property management. Just know that we value great communication and conscientious Guests. Thank you.

On even more rare occasions (maybe once in over 13 years) we may have received a booking on a different listing site that has not updated to VRBO (usually synced several times a day). We commit to resolving such unlikely events promptly, within 24 hours, and ask forgiveness in advance if such an extremely unlikely event were to occur.

Please note we do have two external motion detection security cameras off the front of the house. These comply with all VRBO guidelines, of course. But make sure to ask if you have any questions.

Apologies, we are not yet set up for EV Vehicle charging. Guests are not authorized to run electrical charging cables from our home to charge vehicles. We hope to add a charging station someday. There are charging stations nearby in Oak Harbor and Coupeville. Thank you.

Our Whidbey Vacation Rental Home is located near the Navy Carrier Landing Practice Field. During your stay, you may experience one of their practice sessions --with Navy fighter jets flying low over the house as they approach the practice field. These last approximately two hours and generally occur in the late morning or late evening hours.
Disposable ear protectors and ear plugs are available for our guests to use if needed.
If the jets are flying during the late morning, use that time to visit one of the many local parks in the area -- or sit on the porch and enjoy the air show! Quote from a recent guest: "We especially LOVED watching the jets flying from Whidbey NAS!! It’s not something that you see everyday."

We do have a four person limit and do not allow pets, unfortunately… But we provide almost everything you need on vacation. Cleaning Note :-) I think some Vacationers would like to know that I do 100% of the cleaning between Vacationers myself.
I usually schedule/block a day or two minimum between vacationers so I can take my time and clean/disinfect the cottage. Please read my reviews for the Driftwood Cabin! It really is a magical place :-)
All linens, bed covers, towels, blankets and such are laundered complete between Vacationers. We always provide new pillows, comforters, sheets and try to offer the cleanest and most comfortable environment for our guests!

We are in central Whidbey Island which gets less than 1/2 the rainfall Seattle gets! That means drier days with lots of amazing Whidbey Island sunsets!
Great location to discover Bayview, Coupeville, Langley, Greenbank farms, Deception Pass, Fort Casey, Port Townsend, Ebey's Landing, Penn Cove, Farmer's market....I always give my vacationers an updated list of cool places to go, fun things to do and great places to eat along with favorite food dishes!
Slip into the fabulous hot tub just before sunset and sip on your favorite beverage as you watch the lights from Port Townsend start to twinkle;-) This spot is considered by many to be the best view on the island! Just sayin;-)

The vacation home has access to a restaurant. Providing a patio with sea views, this vacation home also provides guests with a flat-screen TV, a well-equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, an oven, and a microwave, as well as 2 bathrooms with a walk-in shower and a hair dryer. The property has an outdoor dining area. Guests at Whidbey Island Wonder will be able to enjoy activities in and around Greenbank, like cycling. A children's playground is also available for guests at the vacation home. Snohomish County Airport is 24 miles away.

We are a 5 min walk to Comforts of Whidbey winery and a 5 minute drive to the seaside village of Langley, filled with fantastic restaurants and charming shops. This property is a perfect couples getaway. Your privacy is our top priority.

First Light is a non-smoking property. We have a no pets and shoes-off policy and no children under the age of 12.

IMPORTANT- if for any reason you need to cancel, YOU MUST CANCEL YOUR OWN RESERVATION. Simply pull up your VRBO account and cancel your reservation directly through VRBO prior to the “no fee cancellation period” of 14 days. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this causes. If you are unable to cancel within the timeframe of 14 days prior to your stay, contact me directly and we can arrange for you to “reschedule “ but I will be unable to provide a refund.

*This guesthouse is designed for two guests only. If you wish to include a third guest you MUST obtain permission from the host and an additional charge will be collected at check-in per person, per night. Please, NO parties.

The guesthouse bedrooms are located on the second floor. The rooms are well appointed but please be aware that the ceiling height on the 2nd floor is 6’-8” and therefore is not recommended for individuals over 6’-5”. The master bedroom has a stunning view and is spacious and very comfortable.
The eat-in kitchen is fully equipped for cooking and the deck offers dining and lounging areas. Deer are frequent visitors and eagles nest nearby.
During March and April keep an eye out for whale watching boats. Gray whales spouting can often be seen.
The living room has a TV with cable and access to Netflix and HBO. There are books, games and puzzles as well as binoculars at your disposal.
There is a fire pit (upon request) with plenty of fire wood, when burn bans are not in place.
Although your privacy is important to us, we are available to answer questions or make recommendations on activities and restaurants.
