Arbroath, on Scotland’s east coast is known for its historic Abbey and its role as the signing place of the Declaration of Arbroath in 1320. The present harbour, now developed as a marina, dates from 1877 and the town’s heritage trail takes in many of the local characterful buildings, with tales of pirates, shipmasters and smuggling!
Just minutes from 1 Shore are excellent local fresh fish shops and restaurants as well as gift shops and art galleries. Further afield take a trip to the golden, sandy beaches at Lunan Bay or the spectacular coastal nature reserve at St Cyrus. The stunning red sandstone cliffs at Auchmithie are also worth seeing and you can even take a boat trip to the Bell Rock lighthouse, built by Robert Stevenson.
There are several golf courses within easy reach such as the famous links at Carnoustie and many other sports opportunities including sea-kayaking and sailing.
Public transport links are good with the main bus and rail stations less than a mile from the property with easy connections to all the major Scottish cities. There is a good road network too connecting Arbroath with Aberdeen to the north and Dundee to the South.

Welcome to my lovely holiday home in Arbroath, the perfect spot to explore the beauty of Scotland's east coast.
Spacious, comfortable and fully equipped with everything you need, this Victorian apartment has been lovingly restored in mid-century modern style. Situated on the first floor in a quiet street within what is described as the nicest part of town, it is ideally located to walk to all of Arbroath's main attractions including the mainline railway station.
The apartment is calming, light and comfortable, ideally suited to couples and solo explorers. There is free parking on the street outside.
The kitchen is modern and fully equipped to a high standard with everything you might need for a home away from home. The shower room is contemporary with designer fittings. Furnishings are luxurious and comfortable, perfect for putting your feet up with a tipple after a busy day exploring. There is a comfy double bed with a king-size luxurious duvet and Egyptian cotton bedlinen.
The apartment has a 4KHD smart television in the living room which is connected to wifi. From here you can access channels or apps via the remote, so if you have a subscription to services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime you can simply enter your subscription details and watch your own content from here. There is also an Amazon Alexa device set up should you prefer listening to music or the radio.
Breakfast basics are provided, such as porridge, milk and freshly ground coffee and tea.
There are some amazing cafes within a few minutes walk of the apartment at Westport, so if it's afternoon tea or a tasty brunch you fancy, you're in the right place. You can't come to Arbroath without trying the Smokies, while there is an eclectic mix of restaurants and shopping right on the doorstep. There is even the Webster Memorial Theatre where you could catch a show while you're in town.
There are some amazing parks nearby and the property is a short stroll from the beautiful coastal path, cliffs and local beaches. If you fancy exploring further afield, Arbroath mainline station has trains running regularly to Montrose and Aberdeen to the north and Carnoustie, Broughty Ferry and Dundee to the south. It really is the perfect spot to explore all the delights of the east coast, be it walking, golfing (Carnoustie and St. Andrews are nearby), beaches (there are some real hidden gems along the east coast), entertainment and museums (the V&A in Dundee is just 3 train stops away).

As a self-catering house, you'll find everything you need for a perfect stay.
The kitchen has a fridge, a hob, an oven, a kettle, a freezer and a microwave, while there is a BBQ and pizza oven for outside cooking.
The house and grounds are a perfect place to relax with swimming pool, hot tub, games garage, cosy TV room, 3 acres of beautiful grounds full of wildlife as well as internet access.

In the first bedroom on the ground floor, you will find a king-size bed plus a single sofa bed.

The “Wee Bothy” offers a great base to explore the North East Coast, our scenic Angus Glens, and nearby Towns and Cities with places of interest all around.
The Seaside/Harbour town of Arbroath is a 5 min drive away, with lots of lovely Cafes, Restaurants, Cinema and Theatre.
Golfing, Fishing , Kayaking round the Cliffs and Walking, are plentiful in and around the area with Carnoustie Golf Links a 15 minute drive.
Bus and Train Station in town for those who want to venture further.
The space
The Bothy is a Studio Annex design.. Well laid out to accommodate two people comfortably.. Own entrance and outside sitting area The kitchen is well equipped for light meals/snacks.. There is no oven but other appliances are in place I.e. Slow Cooker/George Foreman/Microwave / Toastie Machine and a single hot plate.. Rural setting.. Nearest Bus Stop approx 10 minutes walk from property.. Ideally , own transport is recommended.

The space
The Studio at Wester Den is within a converted barn located at the end of a small farm steading with a few other individually designed private residences. It is on the edge of the town of Arbroath so it is incredibly peaceful but within easy reach (5 mins drive/30 mins walk) to the centre of town and transport links. There are cafes and pubs within a 10/15 min walk. Some walking along quiet country roads, no footpath, is necessary to reach these places and the town.
The comfortable king size bed is up on a mezzanine level which overlooks the living and dining area. From here you get wonderful countryside views from the Velux window.
The living area has a comfortable sofa with a mid-century modern sleigh coffee table. There is a smart TV which you can use to log in to your own Netflix/Prime TV etc. There are some free Rakuten channels too which don't require a sign in. We cannot guarantee smooth and uninterrupted streaming of the TV however. A bar table & chairs provides a space to eat meals or to work from. The window here looks out into the shared garden with a bamboo Zen garden feature. There is no direct access to the garden from The Studio, guests have to walk around the house and in through the garden gate.
The kitchenette is fitted with a kitchen sink, microwave, toaster & kettle to allow you to cook prepared meals and simple breakfasts. We provide tea, coffee, sugar and milk and some breakfast cereal and jam as a little starter for your first night and morning.
A wardrobe/cupboard under the stairs provides a space to hang clothes and store some luggage.
There is a spacious shower room with complimentary toiletries.
Guests also have access to our garden and spectacular glass roof covered terrace. Here you can use our large gas BBQ and dine or just relax with a drink on the outdoor sofa. The dining table has a gas firepit to keep you cosy. As this area is covered and sheltered it can be used at any time of the year. The beautiful garden has views across the countryside beyond and is very peaceful.
There is a dedicated covered private parking space in the car port, just outside The Studio door. We can also offer guests overnight parking for 2 motorcycles or bicycles in our garage, with prior arrangement.
The Studio at Wester Den is an ideal place for a short break away, as a stop-over on your tour of Scotland or when visiting friends and family or working in the area.

Guests can access the garage upon request to safely store bicycles, motorbikes etc overnight. (No parking of cars in garage as there is a covered car port available for private parking)

Our dining table is located in the Living room and can seat six when you wish to enjoy a meal together or crack out some board games.

Please note that as while our traditional seaside cottage has been modernised throughout, it still holds its traditional charm with low ceilings in the upstairs bedrooms and a narrow staircase to access them. Our unique features include a sheltered terrace which is covered by a magnificent glass roof. With a huge gas BBQ, which also converts to a pizza oven, and a large comfortable outdoor sofa and dining table. Enjoy outdoor living whilst soaking up the panoramic countryside views, listening to the birds or trying to spot some deer. Open up the bi-fold doors to connect this space to the open plan living/dining/kitchen area.
Wester Den is within a large converted barn in a quiet small farm steading of 5 unique residential houses, all converted by the same architect.
Wester Den has 3 bedrooms so you can choose who takes the 2 upstairs bedrooms with the family bathroom, large shower and luxurious freestanding bath. One of the bedrooms has a balcony overlooking the terrace, under the glass roof. Or do you choose the master suite which has its own staircase up to a private relaxing seating area? With a superking bed on the ground floor which can also be split into twin beds and a walk-in dressing area/wardrobe and ensuite shower room. French doors lead directly out onto the terrace with views of the countryside.
In the colder months, have cosy nights in, in front of the log burner, watching movies on the 65" smart TV.

Location
Arbroath, on Scotland’s east coast is known for its historic Abbey and its role as the signing place of the Declaration of Arbroath in 1320. The present harbour, now developed as a marina, dates from 1877 and the town’s heritage trail takes in many of the local characterful buildings, with tales of pirates, shipmasters and smuggling!
Just minutes from 1 Shore are excellent local fresh fish shops and restaurants as well as gift shops and art galleries. Further afield take a trip to the golden, sandy beaches at Lunan Bay or the spectacular coastal nature reserve at St Cyrus. The stunning red sandstone cliffs at Auchmithie are also worth seeing and you can even take a boat trip to the Bell Rock lighthouse, built by Robert Stevenson.
There are several golf courses within easy reach such as the famous links at Carnoustie and many other sports opportunities including sea-kayaking and sailing.
Public transport links are good with the main bus and rail stations less than a mile from the property with easy connections to all the major Scottish cities. There is a good road network too connecting Arbroath with Aberdeen to the north and Dundee to the South.

Turn left at the Harbour and then the second right at the High Street towards the sea.
Turn right along Old Shore Head passing the Commercial Inn on your right where you can pick up the keys if apartment is not open.
The Quayside Marina Apartment is straight ahead parking in front of the building.
Keys can be picked up at the Commercial Inn along the street or at flat 6 if not open.

The space
Located at the end of the farm drive, the cottage is peaceful and private. If you've been out walking the paths, cycling or paddling at the beach we've got a wash bay located right beside the cottage and plenty of space for storage of equipment. Please ask if you require a locked storage area.
There is a lawned garden at the rear of the property and a large patio with private summerhouse, gas BBQ and outdoor tables and chairs in a private area to the side of the Munro cottage. It is the absolute perfect place to be on a summer's evening. The outdoor hot tub package at £100 includes use of the hot tub, robes and sliders for all adult guests and extra hot tub towels for children.
The property has several steps to gain entry to front door, grab rail at door, and is all one level once inside.

There are two self catering cottages connected - Munro (6 people) & Glennie (4 people). You can hire them individually or as one whole cottage for a group of 10 people.
Please be aware, the property is located on a working farm and while we would welcome you to walk around the fields and pathways we ask you to stay away from the farm buildings. Unless partaking in a supervised farm tour with one of our family.
Other things to note
There is good 3G and 4G signal on all known mobile networks and Wifi is a rural connection (not fibre).
Dogs are welcome, however please note that the garden walls are quite low and although enclosed may not be secure. Having sheep and ducks on the farm means that dogs need to be kept on a leash or well controlled when out and about near livestock and throughout the farm yard. Other field areas and paths are suitable for dogs to be unleashed so long as they are controllable. The dog fee is £20/stay.

Welcome to our stunning 19th-century sandstone property, originally a farmhouse and steading, situated in a prime location on the edge of Arbroath.
The original farmhouse features a beautiful entrance hallway, which also serves as a spacious dining room. The large oak table comfortably seats 9 adults. Enjoy music from the SONOS speaker system while dining. A doorway off of the dining room leads to the primary lounge, equipped with a gas fireplace, SmartTV, BluRay player with over 50 movies, multiple board games, and another SONOS speaker. Adjacent to the dining room is the first bathroom/cloakroom, which includes a shower, basin, and WC. Next to this is the master bedroom, featuring a king-size bed. All beds in the house are Zip&Link and can be configured as singles if desired. The master bedroom also has its own ensuite with a large shower, bath, WC, and basin. All bathrooms are equipped with underfloor heating. The oak staircase in the dining area leads to three bedrooms and another bathroom. Two of the bedrooms contain king-size Zip&Link beds, and the third contains a large single bed with a full-size roll-away mattress underneath. The bathroom on this level includes a shower, WC, and basin.
Back downstairs, a passageway from the dining room leads into the adjoining steading and the fully equipped kitchen. The kitchen is stocked with kitchenware for 9 guests and includes a microwave, kettle, toaster, toastie machine, rice cooker, large gas oven and hob, smoothie maker, Nespresso machine, fridge freezer, and SONOS sound system.
