- "Very clean and immaculate facilities, fantastic and helpful hosts, great breakfast..... ticked all the boxes. Next time I will pick a diffrent room due to toilet preference, which i didnt know prior to booking - thistle room toilet isnt an ensuite or within the same room, its across the hallway and a key is required for both rooms (not great for a 2am toilet dash 😀) i only mention this as its not everyone cup of tea, i was constantly worrying i would meet someone in the hallway, had to keep getting dressed 😀"

- "Staff were fantastic, very accommodating and welcoming, and very engaged with our dog. Room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and the bed was so comfy." - "We stayed in the studio 'Thistle' for 3 nights. Wonderfully spacious, with a couch area, dinner table and little kitchenette. The bed is medium/soft. Everything was very clean and the décor is nice and neutral. We had dinner one night at the gastro pub downstairs and the food was ace (Sunday roast). Staff is super friendly. Point of awareness for guests: The apartments/rooms are right on top of a pub that stays open until 00:30. We got unlucky one night with very loud costumers. Otherwise calm."

Every building tells a story and this one certainly has a rich history! Hut 37 is one of five beautifully modernised and renovated Nissen huts that are part of the former Cultybraggan Prisoner of War Camp, just a mile outside the picturesque village of Comrie.
This hut accepts one well behaved dog. Cultybraggan have requested that dogs need to be on a lead at all times while on site and not allowed on sofas or beds
Nissen huts were commonly used in PoW camps across Britain during World War II. While they were only intended to be temporary, Cultybraggan Camp lived on after the war as a MOD training centre for more than 70 years. It’s now the last remaining Prisoner of War Camp in Scotland and has been named by Historic Scotland as a Unique Heritage Asset of International Value.
Thanks to the vision of the Comrie Development Trust, which now owns the camp, five Nissen huts have been transformed into spacious, sustainable and modern self-catering accommodation. They’re ideal whether you’re a keen history buff or simply want a truly unique stay in the Perthshire countryside.
While the huts retain their iconic external design, they’ve all been given a major facelift with a bright red roof, crisp white exterior front wall, and black door and window trim, providing an Insta-worthy contrast to the vivid greens of the surrounding Aberuchill Hills.
Inside, Hut 37 has been completely transformed with a spacious open plan living room, fully-equipped kitchen and dining space, full of natural light. Blond wooden floors, cream interior walls, pale furniture tones and the white cabinetry of the kitchen add to the sense of space and calm. There’s comfortable seating including a sofa bed and television for when it's time to relax, plus a dining table with seating for 4.
The separate bedroom contains a king size bed, and there’s also a modern separate bathroom with a shower.

This is a house with three flights of stairs internally and many more steps externally, so it might be a challenge for people with significant mobility problems. There is wheelchair access from the pavement to the front door: that level of the house has the lounge and a bedroom with a king-size bed and an ensuite with toilet, wash basin and shower. The other bedrooms (both twin-bedded) and bathroom are one and two flights of stairs above, while the kitchen, dining room, utility room and back door are all on a level which is flight of stairs (with seven steps and a handrail on one side) below the level of the front door. The front doorway opens to 640mm, and can be opened to 1300mm by using the second leaf. The internal doorways are 700mm wide. There are four steps to the back door on the outside, and two flights of stairs with eight steps each down to the back garden. The openings in the front wall onto the street do not have gates.
No pets or animals are permitted (this is because some of our own regular guests have severe allergy problems with a wide range of animals, even "hypoallergenic" ones, unfortunately: one is particularly sensitive to hair and dander from cats and dogs, especially Labradors).
Crieff offers an excellent base for touring, walking, cycling and golf. In addition there is a wide range of alternative activities from whisky tasting at Glenturret (Scotland's oldest working distillery, now with a Lalique bar and Michelin-starred restaurant) and Tullibardine Distilleries to quad biking at the Crieff Hydro. There is no shortage of history here either, with standing stones, Roman camps, Scotland's oldest lending library at Innerpefferay, the world's first earthquake detector and the only preserved British WWII Prisoner of War camp at nearby Cultybraggan. Crieff Visitor Centre has more information about the history of the area, including it's past as a centre of cattle droving. You can pop in and see their glass blowers working at Caithness Glass at the Visitor centre. The Strathearn Art Space just up the road often has cultural events from comedy to film nights to plays and the Leisure Centre has a public swimming pool and courts for hire.
See http://www.visitcrieff.scot/walking-in-crieff/ for more walks from our front door. Or you can see the sights by hopping aboard the excellent local bus service (no.45).
The Crieff Hydro's 900-acre estate provides a fantastic backdrop for horse riding & pony treks (all abilities catered for), mountain biking, archery and golf, and boasts a 4 star Spa and Sauna for those wanting a little rest and relaxation.
There are challenging golf courses to be found nearby at Crieff, Muthill, Comrie and St. Fillans, but Perthshire boasts many, many more golf courses – see https://www.golfperthshire.com/
Perthshire is a great place to cycle - see https://www.cyclinguk.org/cycle/cycling-perth-kinross for more information and ideas.
The Club at Gleneagles provides the opportunity to play a little more golf, shoot, fish and try your hand at falconry.
Perth and Stirling are close by and Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow with all their many attractions are little more than an hour away.
Why not visit the fabulous V & A Museum just beside Scott's polar exploration ship the "Endurance" on Dundee's riverside? HMS Unicorn, a Royal Navy frigate built in 1824 lies nearby and is also well worth a visit.
Perth, the Fair City, has an active cultural life – see https://horsecross.co.uk/ for more information
- "We had a wonderful holiday staying at The Hoolet in Crieff. The accommodation was ideal for us as a family with young kids and also having my retired parents staying with us. We had all the necessary amenities at our disposal. The kids loved running around in the garden and playing at the nearby park. The property is also very nicely located within Crieff with only a short walk to the main shops and supermarket, where there are a reasonable number of very good lunch and dinner options. Crieff is also ideal for venturing out on longer journeys in any direction, e.g travelling up to the highlands or venturing east or south for city day trips to St. Andrew’s, Dundee, Edinburgh or Glasgow. Overall a great holiday!"

Every building tells a story and this one certainly has a rich history! Hut 36 is one of five beautifully modernised and renovated Nissen huts that are part of the former Cultybraggan Prisoner of War Camp, just a mile outside the picturesque village of Comrie.
This hut is dog friendly. Cultybraggan have requested that dogs need to be on a lead at all times while on site and not allowed on sofas or beds.
Inside, Hut 36 has been completely transformed with a spacious open plan living room, fully-equipped kitchen and dining space, full of natural light.

1 modern main shower room.

Can't wait to visit again!" - "The camp is a peaceful place and very well kept, the hut was great for a short stay, the communication with the agent was second to none, Jamie was very helpful with any queries we had regarding the property. Our children really enjoyed staying on an old prisoner of war camp and found it really exciting. The hut was clean and tidy and had everything we required to make our stay comfortable. Hidden in the very heart of Crieff, yet a world away from the hustle and bustle, lies Lochinver. The beautiful Victorian sandstone building features ornate cornicing, ceiling roses and large bay windows. It has been refitted to modern standards while still retaining the elegance of the original building.
- "Our only issue is that the house description lists a child’s bed. I mistakenly thought that would be a bed as we needed a separate bed for one of our children. However we realised the “child’s bed” was a fold up mattress to put in the floor. Can I suggest you amend this on your website. I wouldn’t have booked this if I’d known in advance. "

“A perfect little place to stay. Absolutely immaculate, clean & comfortable with all the basic needs available. Would highly recommend.” Sally Jun 2025.
The Den is situated at the side of the house. A contemporary colourful studio space with double bed, compact shower room & hints of home comforts - selection of teas, coffees & biscuits, mini fridge & microwave. An ideal space to stay as part of a tour, local visit, work trip or a base for starting or recovering from your outdoor activities.
The space
The Den is conveniently set at the end of my driveway at the side of my home. Within walking distance of all village amenities & a convenient starting point or stopover for local walks, cycles and onward journeys.
A studio style self contained space, with its own private entrance. The Den is finished to the same high standard as The Bothy (see my other listing) but is pared back in terms of amenities & views, with only a small outdoor seating area. It does of course come with the same standard of welcome & quality enjoyed by guests in both properties.
Cooking & Eating - there's only a kettle, mini microwave and mini fridge in The Den, as it's designed for short sleepover stays & eating out, rather than a place to 'live'. Guests should not bring or use any of their own cooking equipment, as this breaches our health & safety and insurance terms. There's lots of places to eat out (see my Guidebook for some ideas), including the local shop with great breakfasts - open 7 days. If you’re looking for additional cooking facilities you could consider booking The Bothy which has a microwave/grill, toaster, gas BBQ, indoor/outdoor plates, dishwasher and cutlery.
Double Bed - a standard double bed with 100% cotton bedding & spare blankets available.
Cloakroom - immediately accessible from the front door with storage space for hanging coats & clothes & racks for outdoor footwear. There's a bookshelf with books featuring local walks and the sideboard has supplies of breakfast & flavoured teas, coffee, sugar, UHT milk and biscuits together with kettle & mugs, mini microwave & mini fridge. In the sideboard there’s wine glasses, tumblers, bottle opener, corkscrew, plates , cutlery, together with board games, fan, iron & hairdryer. In this area there’s also a full length mirror, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, ironing board & torch.
Mini-fridge - you can switch on/off as required & use to keep small items chilled e.g. pint milk, cans, cooked meats, dips etc. Although it won't hold a bottle of wine you could pour out two glasses (which fit) and enjoy later in the evening after dinner or a walk.
Mini-microwave - simple to operate with power and timer dials - ideal for heating up snack meals.
Ensuite - compact shower room with wc, washbasin and cosy 700 x 700mm quadrant shower enclosure. Complimented by supplies of shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and soaps (for use during your stay), heated towel rail and luxurious towels.
Heating - a dedicated energy efficient boiler provides background heat to both the living/sleeping area and ensuite, together with instant hot water. There’s also an electric log effect fan heater to boost heat as required.
Bike storage - secure lockers are available if booked in advance.
Views - there's a single slot high level window in The Den which lets in natural light/ventilation & is designed to give you a framed view up onto surrounding hills, including The Birron. There's an outdoor bench to enjoy the better weather with limited views of the garden. The best views are available all around in the great outdoors. The window offers complete privacy with Venetian blinds.
Comrie Croft wedding guests - we can offer an add on service that includes early check in (12pm onwards), a drop off ahead of the ceremony, a pick up when you’re ready to come home, and finally a late check out (until 11.30am). It’s just an additional £25 that we can include as an addition to your booking. Let us know your timings when you book.
Guest access
There's a dedicated parking space for guests of The Den in the driveway - all the detail is included within contactless check in details provided before arrival. There’s an outdoor bench to enjoy limited garden access during the good weather.

Every building tells a story and this one certainly has a rich history! Hut 35 is one of five beautifully modernised and renovated Nissen huts that are part of the former Cultybraggan Prisoner of War Camp, just a mile outside the picturesque village of Comrie.
Nissen huts were commonly used in PoW camps across Britain during World War Ii. While they were only intended to be temporary, Cultybraggan Camp lived on after the war as a Mod training centre for more than 70 years.

Inside, Hut 35 has been completely transformed with a spacious open plan living room, fully-equipped kitchen and dining space, full of natural light.

Location
Cultybraggan Camp is situated two miles outside the picturesque village of Comrie, in the heart of Perthshire. The Camp, which belongs to the Comrie Development Trust, is home to local businesses and community groups. You can learn about the history of the camp at the informative PoW exhibition, which includes a recreation of prisoner accommodation.
Take a visit to Comrie village where you’ll find local shops and places to eat, with more options a little further along in the larger town of Crieff.
Comrie is a great base for exploring all the delights of Perthshire. Families will love a trip to Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre, set in the Perthshire hills, home to a variety of exotic and more familiar wildlife. Golfers are spoilt for choice with lots of quality local courses, or the famous Gleneagles is just half an hour’s drive away. It’s a walker’s paradise with options at all levels, from the Glenlendock Circular Walk that starts in Comrie, the popular and wheelchair-friendly Lady Mary’s Walk at Crieff, to the mighty Munros of Ben Vorlich, Stuc a Chorin and Ben Chonzie.
Welcome to Cultybraggan Camp, enjoy this unique stay!
Just a quick heads-up: there's a cattle grid at the entrance of the camp. Since we've got a bunch of small business outlets here, you might spot some vehicles coming and going in the early mornings and late evenings.
