- "The apartment was beautiful, with terraces and ocean views. They were a few things, though that were disappointing. The light in the kitchen was burned out, the battery in the remote control for the ceiling fan was dead so we couldn’t turn the fan on & there was an abysmal water pressure in the shower. There was plenty of water pressure in the kitchen, I believe it was just bad showerheads. My biggest complaint is that the lobby was under construction, and the elevator was not working. I was not told that there would not be an operating elevator. I am handicapped and it was a struggle for me to go up 4 flights of stairs. Located on a long beautiful beach by the historical lighthouse in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, your days will be filled with the sounds of the ocean. Enjoy the view from our infinity pool that seems to flow into the ocean, or walk a few steps and feel the sand between your toes. The beach is accessed from our deck area through a secure gate which opens directly onto the beach.

Canary Castle is fully equipped with kitchen, BBQ and bathroom supplies(Toilet Paper supplied for the first day use) as well as towels and chairs for the beach. Fully furnished and tastefully decorated you will feel right at home. All you need to bring are your flip-flops and bathing suit!

The full kitchen has all appliances and comes fully equipped with a stove, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker and dishwasher. A large bay window seating area adjoins the kitchen and has sweeping views of the ocean. An additional outdoor patio facing the ocean adjoins the house -- perfect for entertaining.

- "This is a perfect house for a tropical beach getaway!! BOOK IT! Not only is it literally steps from the beach and has an amazing pool also (bigger than others, and big enough for the whole family and then some!) it is so uniquely decorated and homey! It has everything you need. Kitchen is stocked with any supplies you need, a big gas grill too. There’s even a full indoor bathroom outside! Bruce was easy and quick to communicate with also. We had two windows that needed the closing and opening mechanism replaced and he sent his handyman over the next day! And not have AC in the main living area was a non issue because the ocean breeze was awesome and they have several heavy duty ceiling fans. Heads up too, there is a great supply of spices, etc, vanilla extract, cinnamon, onion and garlic powder, Goya, salt, pepper, and honey! (Some of that bought by us and left there) Only caveat…when you do your big grocery shopping for your stay, get extra toilet paper. What was supplied only lasted us 3 days, we had 7 adults :-)."

- "My immediate family came from all different states to meet in Arecibo for my Uncles 100 yr birthday. The house was picked due to its location and ease to get to several areas. The air conditioner were working and kept everyone comfortable and cool. The location near the beach was an added bonus. The parking accommodated all 3 rental cars. There was plenty of room that everyone was very comfortable. The beds plus the air mattress meant everyone had a comfortable bed to sleep in. The small kitchen allowed us to have breakfast, we were able to have snacks. We also had ice they were ice trays , but there was a plastic container in the freezer that we just had to add ice from the ice trays. It might not be a big deal to some people but having the ability of ice available was important to us. We really did enjoy the house. The host was available and replied to all my questions. The Carousal bakery close by was fantastic. A pharmacy was close by ,we did not use it. It was just wonderful knowing the pharmacy was right across the street from us.. The house accommodated 4 adults very comfortable. We had several of my family stopping by and lots of places for people to seat comfortable. The outdoor chairs and hammock in the back patio area allowed us to sit outside and enjoy the sounds of the night. The outdoor shower allowed us to wash salt and sand off of us before entering the house."

AIR CONDITIONING:

There are newer air conditioning units in all 3 bedrooms. No AC throughout the rest of the home. If you and/or any member of your travel party feels that whole home air conditioning is a necessity to have a more pleasant experience, this may not be the home for you. We much prefer that you choose another home where you will be completely comfortable. We provide ceiling and floor fans throughout the house and plenty of fresh ocean breezes to keep you energized. Be mindful that some days are breezier than others and everyone’s heat tolerance is different. Generally, from November thru March, temperatures are cooler than the rest of the year and some evenings may even get on the chilly side. NOTE: when the power grid goes down, our backup batteries automatically turn on and everything will be available to use EXCEPT THE AIR CONDITIONERS.

OUR SOLAR SYSTEM:

Puerto Rico still experiences periodic power and water outages. Our guests do not need to worry about being stranded without power as we are fully equipped with solar panels and Generac batteries. In the event of a rare water outage, we have TWO 600 gallon water tanks (cisterns) on site for added peace of mind which is supplied with 100% rainwater, which is collected and filtered for your safe use and consumption.

MINI-FARM:

In late 2023, our chicken farm was born. Our amazing neighbor built for us, a spacious and strong chicken coop from scratch and we now have several resident female hens that provide organic cage-free eggs daily. You will see them free roaming the backyard during the day. We also have a few quail birds that provide fresh eggs daily. Their eggs are smaller in size and tastes/fries up just like regular chicken eggs. We provide all our guests with the freshest eggs that can be left out on the counter-top just prior to cooking. Just give each egg a quick rinse and you’re good to go! Our farm also has bananas, plantains, guava, cassava, and breadfruit. If any are ready for harvest before your arrival, we will leave the harvest in the kitchen for your enjoyment!

You would rent the first floor which has its own entrance and exit. The unit is completely private. The backyard, the pool and gazebo area would not be shared and would be all yours during the time rented.

This home has 2 spacious bedrooms and 1 large bathroom. Entire house air conditioning all throughout. Hot water and WiFi included. It has restored kitchen cabinets and new hardware, leather reclining sofa, dedicated working station and its own washer and dryer. Beach towels, 2 bougie boards, cooler, beach chairs and snorkel gear included for your use.

All beds have 100% organic cotton sheets and quilts. Both rooms have mounted smart tvs.

Centrally located, few minutes off of the highway, La Cueva de Ventana 13 minutes away, Cueva del Indio about 20 minutes away and the beautiful La Planta Waterfall is 8 minutes away, We are also 8 minutes away from the Marginal where the World Surf League (WSL) North America Qualifying Series was held.

During holiday festivities will occasionally see and hear parades with live music that can hear and see from home.

We the owners occupy the 2nd floor. We do have animals. We have horses and chickens and offer horse rides seasonally and also provide fresh eggs if you wish. We also have front and rear cameras for security purposes.

Outside there is a beautiful mural and in the backyard you will find a paradise complete with heated pool, gazebo with seating area and lighting, beautiful trees such as avocado and more. There are chickens on sight and hosts left us fresh eggs and if we wanted more, this was available as well. Everything was stress free and complete with everything a family would need. Towels, shampoo, blankets, everything needed to cook, stay in or go out etc. were available to us. We went for a short stay to celebrate our son’s 16th birthday. The hosts decorated for him and provided local bakery items, snacks etc. The bedrooms are beautiful and for our family of 4, was the perfect size. The rules and expectations set in place were very reasonable and the information provided by the hosts included local attractions, restaurants etc and we utilized this so much, as this time visiting the island, we went a different route and explored the beautiful hidden treasures it possesses that even our family who have lived on the island for generations, did not know about. This made our tripSo special and one we will never forget. Some of our family visited us while there and the hosts were very kind and helpful when we had embarrassing car trouble and some hiccups. "

The entire house is accessible with the exception of the downstairs area which faces the backyard. We have some gym equipment there that will be off-limits to guests. Our lot of land is somewhat large but we will keep access to guests limited to the areas that are being currently mowed and maintained. The backyard directly behind the house is accessible.
