Situated in the heart of the Adelaide Hills, Thiele House Retreat is a secluded 3 to 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom short stay escape, sleeping up to 10 people comfortably (4 people in partial house option).
We offer a chilled bottle of wine on arrival along with a sweet snack. We have a beautiful courtyard with a table that seats 12 to 14 persons and the interior table seats 8 persons. We also have large lawned gardens by the creek.
The house has two wood burning fires with wood and kindling supplied and a Piano in the front lounge room. Thiele House has 2 bedrooms downstairs with king-size beds and access to ensuite - and 2 bedrooms upstairs - one has a king size double bed and the other bedroom has a double queen size bed and 2 single beds which is ideal to accommodate an extra 1 to 4 persons. NOTE - Access to the second bedroom is through the other upstairs bedroom. Children under 3 years of age using cots - Free of charge. 1 Cot and 1 High Chair Supplied.

Thiele House Retreat is located on the outskirts of the Main Street of Hahndorf, the oldest surviving German settlement and just 20 minutes from the CBD of Adelaide, via the freeway. Australia's best wineries and cellar doors neighbour The Retreat with the likes of The Lane Vineyard, Sidewood Estate, Sam Scott Wines, Hahndorf Hill Winery, Nepenthe, Somerled, Shaw & Smith and many more, just minutes away from the Hahndorf Township, whilst taking time to relax and recharge.

The property has 5 buildings on site, The front property is leased to Bracegirdles which is a chocolate house offering the best coffee in Hahndorf as well as a large range of chocolates and food.
We also have a cellar door, La Prova Wines. The old barn is The Blacksmiths Cafe and the double story building is an info-tec company. The accommodation is another separate building and was our old home, we now live in the office/apartment above the garages which is also a separate building. We state that we live on-site to discourage the property being used by those wishing to use accommodation for large parties, leaving the premises in a trashed state. All buildings are of stone construction, the oldest being built for the first couple of Germanic ancestory to be married in Australia. We are in the Main Street but the accommodation is 100 metres down the driveway, very quiet and private. All our guests appreciate the tranquility and proximity to the Hahndorf township and I'm sure you would also do so - unless of course, you are planning a wild rave party!! If so - our place is not for you.

My booking for here was CANCELLED the afternoon of the day before I was to check in , saying the place had been double booked. I was offered an alternate place 10 minutes out of Hahndorf, which did not suit me at all. I requested a refund for which I am still waiting for. I had to rebook somewhere else which was hard as a lot of places were booked out. I still haven’t received my refund after contacting the host. I plan to take this further as has been one week since cancellation. Very disappointed. Would not recommend!"
