The only minor issue was that the TV is not a smart TV so we couldn't watch any streaming, just the free to air stations - didn't bother us enough to affect this review but others may find it limiting. I must make mention of the fact that we had our luggage and arrived before checkin time - very kindly we were allowed to leave our bags and also those of our friends who were staying in another apartment in the building. Our apartment is Unit 1 on the lower floor in the Stirling Building and it is one of the oldest buildings in Glenelg.
Built in 1880 as 2 townhouses it underwent a facelift around 1940 to be made into 5 apartments and sweeping external staircases where built. The property has an art decor building now.
We have decorated our apartment to combine the heritage and design feature over the life of the building, of course adding the desired modern features now.

Couldnt be happier with the location and the ground floor apartment. The parking is very tight but you advised it would be, but again happy that the vehicle was off the street. Can get a little noisy on the weekends with noisy revellers outside the window and sirens but blinds etc were perfect and we felt safe. Please note, it is a very tight carpark and there is only 1 allocated space available per apartment, so you must only park in the space marked with your apartment number. There is free parking available in the surrounding side streets, but not directly out the front of the building, which is ticketed.

LIABILITY
• Your belongings are not covered by our insurance if damaged, lost, stolen or destroyed.
• The host accepts no responsibility or liability for damage or injury in any way which you or any member of your party may suffer in connection with the accommodation.

OUR GUESTS

DURING YOUR STAY POLICIES

• We supply 1 towel per person and no extra bed linens, tea towels, or hand towels.

• Strictly no smoking is allowed inside the property. You must go outside on the street. If you smoke inside, you forfeit your entire security deposit.

DAMAGE & LOST KEYS
• If you accidentally break anything in the apartment during your stay, please let us know as soon as possible.

The only complaint would be the pillows on the bed were too hard, so we used the cushions from the lounge! If we were staying longer than 4 nights we would have purchased our own. Coles was a few minutes walk, Dan Murphy’s around the corner and bars and restaurants a plenty nearby. Great place to stay. Congratulations! "

Previously known as Albert Parade, and then Seawall, South Esplanade was once a promenade of magnificent Victorian mansions and summer gardens. With time, these mansions slowly began to occupy land beyond the dunes morphing Glenelg's streets into a suburb of character and charm.

State Heritage-listed Seafield Tower was the first of its kind built along the esplanade. It was designed as two self-contained, 15 room summer residences for Sir Henry Ayers and Sir Thomas Elder, when both were in their late fifties. Ayers made his fortune from the Burra Copper Mines that secured the wealth and future of the colony of South Australia. Uluru - Ayers Rock in the Northern Territory is named in his honor. Elder was a pastoralist, businessman, philanthropist and politician. Ayers inhabited the northern side and Elder the southern. Each residence had a separate staircase to the tower, but the landing was communal.

The open plan kitchen, lounge and dining area have a great view into the outdoor courtyard and over the greenery of the reserve across the road. High ceilings and a large bedroom provides a homely feeling of spaciousness.

The bedroom features a very comfortable King sized bed. A portacot is also available at the property for guest use, however please note, we do not supply linen or bedding for the portacot.

A new reverse cycle air conditioner has recently been installed to the lounge area and bedroom, so you can feel comfortable all year round.

The funky retro bathroom features a shower over footbath, toilet and laundry all in one. There are two towels supplied per guest. So you can travel light, we also supply bar soap, hotel size shampoo/conditioner and a hairdryer.

This property is catered for simplicity and relaxation, ideal for guests looking to be in close proximity to the action, with a unqiue and cosy space to rest at the end of the day.

Guest access
The entire apartment is all yours. You also have walk through access from Durham Street and access to the communal clothes line. There isn't an allocated car park, however you do get a parking permit which allows you to park in any of the 3 hour zones in Glenelg for up to 24 hours at a time. The street directly behind the property is the best place to park, and you can access property from the back entrance.

There is also ticketed parking out the front of the property (but it's pretty steep $ for long term parking and your permit won't work here).

Best parking is in the street directly behind the property, as guests also have walk through access from that street to the side door of the apartment. Parking is free in any of the 3 hour zones with your permit, or if you have two cars it is 3 hours between 9-6pm, and free at night.

*** Please be aware that construction is ongoing on a block directly next to the apartment, the end date is currently unknown so there is a potential for construction noise disturbance until further notice. That being said, there are noise restrictions in the area as follows: construction activity that causes noise to neighboring premises is not permitted on any Sunday or public holiday; or after 7pm or before 7am on any other day.***
