Wintertime sports activities are nearby with cross country and downhill skiing, tubing and snowboarding at Fort McCoy, cross country at the golf course in Sparta, and downhill at Mount La Crosse. Snowmobile trails abound! You and the kids can enjoy sledding on the mild slope of the hill right behind your apartment, build snowmen in the yard, etc. Try your hand at ice-fishing on Perch Lake or Lake Neshonoc or skating at the Sparta Hockey Rink or one of the outdoor rinks at Memorial Park in Sparta... or just snuggle in and stay warm in the apartment.

The apartment is attached to our home with a separate entrance for your convenience. Sound buffers between our living spaces mean we can't hear you and you can't hear us.

RECLAIMED CHARM
A few years ago a storm blew over an enormous elm tree I climbed as a kid. It landed on the corner of an early 1900's granary. The owner chose not to repair it and allowed us to take it down for the salvaged lumber. You'll find that reclaimed lumber throughout the apartment. Wooden floors were reworked from the granary flooring. Wainscot, trim and wood ceilings were made from the siding. Shelves and benches that adorn the apartment were made from refashioned roofing boards. Table, work station and vanity tops were made from wall studs, beams and boards. Nail holes, knots and blemishes remain visible in the wood giving the finished pieces a unique and beautiful character.

Building our Vacation Rental apartment using reclaimed wood, inspired us to start a "green" business. Used Anew is operated primarily on site. Guests can take a tour of our Show Home & Shoppe, just down the hill, to see many of the products and features we make from reclaimed wood and other materials. As Used Anew, we've taken apart unwanted buildings in the area, saving what we can of the vintage materials. Then, working with area Amish craftsmen and our own in-house ThingMakers, we produce flooring, accent wall and ceiling options, kitchen cabinets, furniture and decor - all from reclaimed materials!
Along the way, we also accumulate antiques and collectibles, and make these available in the Show Home & Shoppe, as well.

Toddy's Cabin, located near the Trempealeau Lakes, is a 2 bedroom rustic cabin located between the Mississippi River and Second Lake. The Cabin, just off the main lake road, sleeps up to 5. The Cabin is walking distance away from multiple public fishing and hunting areas. Within a 1/4 mile of the Cabin you will find Lock and Dam 6, the Trempealeau Marina and boat launches to access Pools 6 and 7 of the Mississippi River. Visitors may also enjoy hiking and bird watching at Perrot State Park, the Federal Wildlife Refuge or simple kayaking the backwaters. The Great River Bike Trail is nearby as well as many other site seeing adventures. The Cabin is located a short 20 minute drive to either Winona, MN or La Crosse, WI.

The dock is available to you during your stay usually May-October. The timing depends on the river water level. There are also public boat landings within 1/2 mile available to get on the water/ice.

Overall the place was clean and comfortable. Note that this place is next to the highway. The traffic was light, but noticeable when in bed. - "This property is a beautifully renovated historic building in downtown Cashton. Everything in the unit is new and it is very nice. Our unit overlooked Main St of a quiet downtown area, so noise was not an issue. Restaurants and a grocery store are within walking distance. Biking, canoeing, Amish shops and downtown Viroqua all within a short drive. Parking is a little walk, but not unexpected in a downtown area. Be prepared to walk steps to unit (26 steps) as the building has loft style apartments with very high ceilings! We will definitely be back!!"

Thankfully April is extremely responsive and we got it figured out quickly. Upon entering we saw that the atmosphere was amazing! This is the lower level/basement of the house located in Trempealeau right off of the Great River State Trail and Perrot State Park. It is 2 miles away from the Mississippi River and the Lock and Dam. Other attractions in Trempealeau include Elmaro Winery, Centerville Curling Club, Eckers Apple Orchard, the Wild Life Refuge and the Historic Trempealeau Hotel.

The space
This listing is the same as the other House in Trempealeau listing, however this listing is just the lower level (basement) of the house. This space as 2 queen beds, 1 full bed, 2 twin beds, and if needed a twin roll away and full floor mattress. It also has a couch, love seat, chair, fire stick TV, coffee maker and coffee, mini fridge and microwave.

It has its own private bathroom with a shower.

You can access this space though a private entrance through the garage using a garage code.

If you would like to rent out both spaces you can do so if available. Let us know in your request. The whole house has 21 beds, 5 floor mattresses, and 2 couches and can sleep a total of 40 people.

This is family house with 2 parents but the kids are all out of college and don't permanently live at the house, so they are not always there. However, sometimes all members of the family will be at the house during the stay.

We don't charge a cleaning fee to keep costs down for you, so please take all of your garbage with you. We do recycle and can take your recyclables to the recycling center. Just leave those off to the side in the black bins. If this is not possible know your will be charged a $25 cleaning fee.

There is a claw foot Tub converted to a shower in the bathroom. The left handle is hot, right handle is cold water. The center handle switches the water between the bath tub and the shower head.

Curtains in the living room are on a pulley system. Pull the strings on either side of the window to operate.
