Why not whip up a gourmet dinner in the fully equipped kitchen (down to the kitchen scales), throw a sausage on the barbecue on the undercover patio or brew up an early morning coffee and enjoy the birdsongs on the back deck before the rest of the house rises!

At Litoria the indoors merge with the out, providing a relaxed resort feel. Living and bedroom pods are connected by a decked breezeway, interspersed with gardens and a water feature, which captures the cool sea breezes. Our modern bathroom also embraces our tropical surrounds, opening up onto private garden courtyards.

Fully pet friendly with concrete floors and fences, there is no need to leave your furry friend at home. We allow pets indoors but not on the furniture. An additional cleaning fee will be charged if your pets have been on the furniture. Pet bowls are also provided.

We provide a welcome kit on arrival with dishwashing liquid, dishwasher tablets, washing powder, toilet paper, hand wash and shower gel—just enough to get you started. There is a Woolworths supermarket 5mins drive around the corner.

Configuration
As a pavilion home our bedrooms are spread over two pods (buildings), however for couples or small families we offer access to just one of the bedroom pods at a reduced nightly rate. You will still have exclusive use of the property, but access to one bedroom pod only. The main bedroom pod has two bedrooms, ensuite, powder room and laundry (with washer and dryer). All bedrooms have air-conditioning, a ceiling fan, security screens on opening windows, a wardrobe, bedside tables and lamps.

Note: while there is a separate powder room with toilet and basin in the main bedroom pod, if you choose this option then all visitors will need to share the shower in the ensuite.

Master bedroom (sleeps 2)—1 x queen bed, ensuite with private garden courtyard, walk-in-robe and television.

Bedroom 2 (sleeps 2)—1 x double bed

On request, you can opt to stay in the second bedroom pod instead. This pod has 2 bedrooms (bedroom 3 has 1 x queen bed and a television, bedroom has 2 x single beds). Both have air-conditioning, ceiling fans, security screens on opening windows, a wardrobe and bedside tables and lamps. However, this will mean no access to a laundry during your stay. If this option suits you better, you must confirm with Melissa prior to booking.

Fully pet friendly with concrete floors and fences, there is no need to leave your furry friend at home. We allow pets indoors but not on the furniture. An additional cleaning fee will be charged if your pets have been on the furniture. Pet bowls are also provided.

Configuration
As a pavilion home our 4 bedrooms are spread over two pods (buildings), however for couples we offer access to just one bedroom within the main bedroom pod at a reduced nightly rate. You will still have exclusive use of the property, but access to one bedroom only. The pod also has an ensuite, powder room and laundry (with washer and dryer). All bedrooms have air-conditioning, a ceiling fan, security screens on opening windows, a wardrobe, bedside tables and lamps.

Note: if the second bedroom is accessed during your stay, you will be charged an additional fee on departure.

Fact File

What to wear?

As you will transfer from Mission Beach by boat you'll need to wade through shallow waters and assist with luggage/groceries from/to the beach, boat and is suggested that you have shoes that are easily removed, and maybe a change of clothes eg shorts. In winter the evenings can be cool so please pack some warm clothes.

What to pack?

Basically as little as possible. A few casual clothes and one pair of shoes, maybe some sandals or bring towels and linen as the house is fully stocked. Do bring some of your favourite books, magazines, hat, camera, sunscreen, toothpaste, Ipod etc. If possible do not bring lots of little bags, but a duffle style bag that is easy to manage. Consider packing a small back pack and reef shoes for outdoor exploration.

Water Transfers:
Guest have always complained about the additional cost of transfers to Bedarra Island. We now have our own water taxi to provide a very personalised service to the island.
You meet us at our mainland property where we load your luggage and supplies, we then travel together to Clump Pt whee we depart from. The voyage takes approximately 35-45 minutes.

On arrival at Bedarra

You will be met by our island caretaker's who will take you and your luggage and supplies to the house. Our caretakers will provide an orientation tour of the house, island and surrounds.

Time to relax?

There is chilled island spring water and ice in the fridge. Have a swing in the hammock before you unpack Any additional questions can be answered by our caretakers. If you any further questions they are only a phone call away.

Unpacking

We have conventional electric fridge as well as small bar fridge which is excellent for keeping your drinks chilled to the perfect temperature.

Who to call?

Hopefully no one, the house phone allows only local calls.

Power

The house runs on a sophisticated solar power system. The house was recently renovated and now has a massive 6.3kw system which has no limitations as far as normal use is concerned.

Water

This is a limited resource, please conserve it. The tap water is from an island spring, filtered, perfectly safe and wonderful to drink.

Waste

All garbage is removed by guests. Disposal of garbage is included in your Water Taxi fare. Please use strong garbage bags.

Departure

Your departure time would have been advised prior to your arrival. Our caretakers will contact you prior to departure to confirm the departure time. On the day of departure they will assist you with your luggage and rubbish.

Mobile phones and internet

Telstra mobile phones work very well on the island. Optus and some of the other companies do have problems. Telstra Bigpond wireless 3G internet device works well also. Our house now has satellite internet.

The Kurrimine Fishing Haven is the perfect choice for a relaxing seaside family getaway. This 2 bedroom, fully air-conditioned home has everything you need for your next holiday. Located at the southern end of town and just a short stroll to beautiful Kurrimine Beach. This family-friendly holiday rental is the perfect place to relax and make the most of the excellent fishing opportunities that this area has to offer.

We first discovered this area in 2005 and have loved escaping to our very own beachside fishing haven with our family. This small laid-back community welcomes visitors and our children still enjoy the freedom that we knew as kids. You will often see them riding around the streets, fishing together or playing on the beach. Your kids will make friends in no time!

For the serious fisherman, we even have a separate bait freezer.

When you have finished filleting your catch you can sit back in the comfy, shaded outdoor area, enjoy a cold drink and watch the kids playing on the swing under the avocado tree.

Taking in the regions amazingly high annual rainfall lies Alligators Nest, one of the most pristine swimming holes in far north Queensland. Take in the lush wet tropics rainforest setting whilst taking a refreshing swim, then explore the flowing creek beds as they wind left, right and around various bend leading to the water source at the base of the mountain nearby within the National Park. The island boasts a variety of landscapes, from cloud-covered mountains and lush rainforests to white sandy beaches and mangrove-lined channels. It’s a place where you can truly escape the crowds and reconnect with the natural world. The famous Thorsborne Trail offers a challenging and rewarding hiking experience, taking you through 32km of ungraded track over approximately four days.

Cardwell Spa Pools, nestled in the picturesque hinterland of Cardwell, Queensland, is a natural geological wonder that has captivated visitors with its unique, opalescent waters. This naturally-fed, seasonal creek is renowned for its striking blue hue, which varies from a bright, baby blue to a milky-blue color depending on the sunlight and time of day. From the moment we arrived (late, mind you), the lights were on for us so we didn't have to navigate in the dark - we were struck by how thoughtfully styled and welcoming the space was.Bingil Bay has a much quieter, tranquil atmosphere compared to down the road at Mission Beach, which was exactly what we needed.Viv and Mick have clearly put so much care into creating a wonderful guest experience. We were delighted to find breakfast provisions and milk waiting for us, which was incredibly thoughtful and practical since we checked in much later than planned. These little touches made all the difference and showed real attention to guest comfort. When we had an issue with some lights, Mick arrived within moments to sort it out for us.The location is also ideal - just around the corner (seriously like a 1 min walk) to Bingil Bay Cafe where we enjoyed excellent coffees and delicious meals throughout our stay. The proximity to the beach was also within easy walking distance. Our daughter was thrilled with the selection of board games available, which provided lovely family entertainment in the evenings. The property truly had everything we needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.We wouldn't hesitate to return and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a peaceful coastal retreat.Thank you for such a memorable stay!"

It is a two hour drive from Cairns to Mission Beach. Take the Bruce Highway south from Cairns towards Townsville. Take the Mission Beach turnoff at the small township of El Arish approximately 40 minutes south of Innisfail and follow the road 19 kms to Mission Beach. On arrival do not veer left into the village but keep straight ahead to the beachfront and turn right at Castaways Hotel. Continue on and Sejala is next left beachside south from the Castaways complex. Turn left into the tiny road to the beach and right into the hut carpark through the totem gates.

Adjoined by rainforest, our place is handily positioned between beautiful Bingil Bay Beach (200m) and the wonderful Bingil Bay Café (200m). The accommodation is the bottom part of a large Queenslander house with access to the pool and extensive gardens. With its own access and carport you are completely self sufficient but we are available to lend you bicycles or point you to the walking tracks. Be active or do nothing, we are private but not remote.

The space
This small apartment contains a kitchenette toaster, kettle, single induction cooker, microwave, cutlery, crockery and glasses. The new bar fridge is not cramped and has a freezer for ice cream. The bathroom/laundry is connected. It has its own patio with seating and light.

Guest access
Guests can come and go through their own entrance and they are welcome to roam the block, admire the chickens and weed the vegie garden (optional).

Other things to note
We are situated quite closely to the rainforest in the tropics so you must be fond of wildlife and all the buzzing, squeaking and ribbetting things that go with it!

This rare find is a fully self-contained beach shack with heaps of character on a large private block. Just a 100 meter stroll to beautiful South Mission Beach and close access to coastal walking tracks and rainforest trails. Our simple, comfy retro shack has everything you need for a chilled out beachside stay. You can even bring your boat, there's plenty of room for a boat trailer on our block and river and beach boat ramps close by.

The space
This recently built and charmingly retro styled timber cabin has a bright airy feel and a great layout. The timber deck overlooks the garden's tropical fruit trees and offers glimpses of the ocean while feeling very private.

We have both fans and air conditioning throughout and on a nice days the classic Queenslander design of french doors and casement windows provides lovely sea breezes.
The kitchen area has all the necessary bits and pieces plus a few more, large fridge freezer, gas cooktop. A few staples are provided as well as some limes picked from the gardens and fresh laid eggs from our backyard chooks just down the road. The hooded BBQ can double as an oven if needed, keeping the heat and cooking aroma out of the shack.
The queenside bed has 100% cotton or bamboo sheets to keep you cool and comfy and there is plenty of storage space.

Guest access
The property is all yours for your stay, you can park anywhere on the lawn. There is plenty of room for a trailer if you bring a boat and there are beach and river ramps nearby. There is a shed at the back of the property but we plan not to access it during your stay.

Other things to note
South Mission Beach is a quiet, small beach community. The beach stretches for kilometres and provides beautiful walks both south and north, with rain forested islands offshore the scenery is a tropical idyll .

There is a licensed cafe attached to the nearby Beachcomber Caravan Park which also sells essentials. It is open Wednesday through to Sunday. On Monday and Tuesday they have a 'Taco Truck' which offers meals, great coffee and cold drinks.
The Surf Life Saving Club at the northern end of Kennedy Esp has a cafe open from Thursday to Monday.
If you are after a more upmarket experience with a breathtaking view. Elandra Resort restaurant is nearby which offers fine dining and good coffee and cocktails.

By Easter 2024 South Mission Beach will have a great deli BowerBird Pantry which will have a superb range of speciality local foods and meals during the day.

A little further afield in the Mission Beach area are plenty of shops cafes and restaurants. As well as a large supermarket and a small beachside market of the 1st, 3rd and last Sunday of each month.

Basecamp for beach lovers, nature seekers, and anyone craving a little escape. Just 500m from Bingil Bay Beach, minutes to Mission Beach, and steps to the famous Bingil Bay Café. This cosy rainforest caravan has a queen bed, firepit for starry nights, and maybe a cassowary dropping by to say hello. Fresh air, wild surrounds, and your own off-grid story to tell.

We share the garden with nature. Cassowaries, wallabies, and a goanna occasionally drop by — wild, gentle, and amazing to see.

Keep the caravan door closed to keep wildlife where it belongs.

Skylights are sealed for comfort.

Is cool, with slate floors and concrete block walls, has a large poolside back patio and freezer for the fisherman and front patio with driveways on both sides of house, 1 lockable carport. Each bedroom has its own entrance with security screened glass sliding doors, aircon and fans and smart tvs with Netflix, and Stan and free unlimited wifi. One bedroom has queen size bed with separate bath and wheelchair friendly shower and full size bath, whilst 2nd bedroom has king bed and 1 single bed or 3 singles. Kitchen is fully equipped with full size fridge, oven, glass cooktop, dishwasher, jug, toaster, pod machine, microwave, pantry, cupboards, king bedroom en-suite is a 2 way bathroom includes laundry tub, washing machine, dryer, bath and shower over bath.
Mission Beach has beautiful interesting beaches with rocks one end, tidal creek good for crabbing and fishing,/walking/biking trails, or ride your bicycle along the beach as far as South Mission beach. Perry Harvey Jetty is a must see as you can see turtles, sting rays, manta rays, sharks, huge schools of fish and you can catch mackerel, pike, whiting, queen fish, cod, etc. whilst for the boatie Dunk Island is ten minutes away from Clump Point boat ramp with very good fishing round the islands. Mission Beach markets are on mostly every weekend and Woolworths supermarket, bottle shops, chemists, library, doctor and veterinary surgeon is only 5 minutes drive. Royal Palm cottage is a 3 minute bike ride to beach, Castaways resort, cafes, Tavern, mini supermart, Mission Beach Pool and Aquatic Centre, and tennis courts.

As it’s a private 2 bedroom house guests can access all parts of house and gardens and pool at all times. It’s possible that guests that have mobility issues can use shower in queen bedroom and there are rails to get out of bath and there is small ramp onto front verandah which would be wheelchair accessible. However to get to back patio if your in a wheelchair you would have to use second driveway on other side of house as there are stairs from back door to back patio
