Set on the Anglo-Welsh border, this recently modernised cottage has stunning countryside views and is the perfect setting to relax and unwind. A stone's throw from the famous Offa's Dyke walk, the location is ideal for anyone who wants to enjoy the country lifestyle with great walks, bike rides, wildlife and views on offer.
Inside the cottage has recently been renovated with the aim to keep its countryside charm, there is a good size kitchen diner, which has everything you need to cook up that winter warmer or taste of summer. The spacious living room has a large sofa perfect for relaxing with a drink in the evening, it also has our countryside 'viewing spot' (our favourite part of the house) which overlooks the fields, where you can see all the birds enjoy the outside as much as we do. There is also a single chair-bed which can easily sleep a child or adult and a TV in the living room, should you need them. Attached to the living room is the ensuite double bedroom, comprising of a double bed, wardrobe, shower and w/c. At the back of the house are an additional w/c and our 'muddy' entrance/ cloakroom perfect when coming back from those winter walks.
Outside, the property shares its grounds with the attached farmhouse which is set in over 200 acres of prime borderland countryside. Where you can enjoy walks through the fields, woodlands, along the brook and even into Wales. There is also ample private parking for up to 3 cars.
Located in the quiet countryside you can be forgiven for forgetting that the historic market town of Oswestry is less than 10 mins drive away, which offers a wide range of places to eat, drink and shop. Closer is the local pub at Selattyn (within 2 miles), The Cross Keys is a family run pub serving local drinks and hearty food. If you are looking for more you can get to Shrewsbury (20 miles) which offers a host of charming market roads filled with shops and places to eat/drink. The wonderfully unique Roman city of Chester is also less than 30 miles away from where you can enjoy a walk along the Roman wall and see its famous amphitheater as well as enjoy everything a modern city has to offer.

Highly recommended!" - "Couldn't have wished for anything else! Beautiful location, Peter and Loraine made us feel very welcome when we arrived. The cabin itself was immaculately clean and had everything we needed for a 5 night stay, there was even a bottle of wine with a card due it being our wedding anniversary. Being an hours ish away from Snowdonia National Park we had some great walk abouts during the day, the hot tub back at the cabin was a great way to relax after long days of walking. I would recommend Peter and Loraine's cabin by the river to anyone for a getaway!"

Region: A E Housman once wrote that Shropshire was “the quietest place under the sun” and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England
Town: Llanymynech is a settlement located about nine miles north of Welshpool, on the boundary of Montgomeryshire/Powys, Wales, and Shropshire, England. The Montgomery Canal runs past the settlement, which is located on the banks of the river Vyrnwy. The settlement's main street runs for the most part down the middle of the border, with the eastern half of the village in England and the western half in Wales. To the south, the River Vyrnwy runs through it, and to the north, massive limestone cliffs. The cliffs form part of Llanymynech Hill's quarry face, and the views from the top are breathtaking. The historic town of Shrewsbury is only 17 miles away and is well worth a visit at any time of year. No hen, stag or similar parties
- "We loved this cottage, out only issue was that the garden is not enclosed and our dogs had to be in leaf at all times due to their being livestock and a pond just outside the cottage grounds. Otherwise really beautiful and well equipped and the garden and surroundings were lovely." - "Well, this is hilarious. My review has bounced back as having "inappropriate content." I've read through and can only assume it's an AI bot reacting to the word that comes after "Offa" and describes the ancient ninth century embankment that runs between Wales and England. But on with the review: this is a lovely, spacious property in a beautiful rural location. All facilities were provided. The host was friendly and helpful. We used it to walk part of Offa's D which passes nearby. Highly recommended."

A Large five bedroom house, situated near to the Berwyn mountains and just 2.4km from the Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall, the highest single drop waterfall in the UK. The house dates back to the 1600 century, it has two bathrooms and a large country kitchen with larder and seperate utility room. Upstairs is a large play area and work space, three double bedrooms and two single bedrooms. Downstairs is a lounge with doors leading to the jacuzzi.
On the other side of the house is a snug with wood burner, leading to a enclosed garden, and a side gate leads out to the field. The house is set in 1.5 acres with a vegetable garden and orchard. The terrace wraps around the house and has a five seater jacuzzi tub with lounger at 39 degree's.
The house itself is surrounded by fields and trees, with the river Rhaeadr running adjacent to the house and not a neighbour in sight.
Access to the house is via a single tracked lane, most vehicles will fit but message in advance if you want to double check.
- "Was a perfect stay to escape to get away from it all. Thank you." - "First off, the location is great with fantastic views and the hot tub was a personal favourite of mine. The home is spacious yet cosy with many rooms to relax in and there is access to 2 TVs with Sky boxes. The bed I slept in was proper comfy as well. Not too far down the road is possibly one of the most beautiful attractions I have ever seen, this being the Pistyll Rhaeadr Waterfall. Its a hefty hike but its also a fun day out. The WiFi is a weak point in the home however, being usable for texts on certain social media and that's about it. Obviously, it is understandable when you consider where the home is situated but its something to bare in mind. The other main issue I had during my stay was with the cooker in the property, it is a traditional AGA oil cooker. It was working fine on the first night but then it started to falter and was then unusable for the rest of my stay. The hosts were helpful with that though, they cooked food that we had brought due to the cooker ceasing to work and they also lent us other amenities Overall, I enjoyed my stay at this particular holiday home but if the WiFi was stronger and the cooker was working for the duration it would've been outstanding."
