This traditional Japanese-style townhouse was created in collaboration with local artists and features designs with both modern and traditional Japanese influence. Traditional Japanese rooms were spacious and had comfortable tatamis. Definitely recommended for a nice relaxing time in Takayama!!"

Worse, the dryers didn’t dry. People had their clothes in there for an hour and they were still pretty wet. We ended up having to abandon ship after midnight and went to a local laundromat the next day. They need to upgrade these machines!"

I booked a room with a private open air onsen for end of March 2024 and was blown away at how nice my room and the entire hotel was. The facility was impeccable, food was good, staff was super nice and my room was so great. I was only there two nights and regret not staying longer. I will definitely come back to this onsen. - "My family stayed at this ryokan for two nights in November. We would recommend staying here for the experience of a Japanese inn and the fact that it is very authentic. We found the staff to be professional and polite. The drawback is the inn is located in an area quite a distance from the center of town and from all of the temples and shrines. - "good" - "Check-in is strictly at 3pm so if you are early, be prepared to leave your luggage first and talk a walk around the area. There are only 4-5 parking slots available within property so be sure to check-in earliest possible. Plenty of amenities available in lobby for you to take, including bath robes and eye masks. Rooms were big and the tatami area was comfortable to relax in. Beds were a little hard but still acceptable. It is like a serviced apartment where there are stoves and cooking utensils available, including microwave, spatula and tableware. Housekeeping is only done every 3 days and this date is agreed during check-in. If you accidentally hung the DO NOT DISTURB sign on your door, you will have to wait another 3 days for housekeeping. This is non-negotiable and it happened during my stay. The night staff on the 3rd night agreed for housekeeping to be arranged on the 4th morning but it never happened. Reception staff even tried to downplay the miscommunication and bargained to not provivde more towels as it is 2 pax staying in a 4 pax room. Even if DND sign is out, staff is supposed to change towels and clear the rubbish but this did not happen. Reception staff again tried to dismiss this thus both my friend and I are thoroughly disappointed in this matter."

- "We had a wonderful time at this ryokan. We chose this inn specifically for its remote location and traditional atmosphere and were not disappointed. The hotel, outdoor onsen, and woodsy surroundings were all excellent. The building is old and reminded me of the railroad lodges of the western United States: creaky old doors and floors, metal keys, and rotary dial phones. Other than the hotel, there are no restaurants nearby (that I know of) and dinner is an elaborate kaiseki ryori that requires advanced reservations. They were able to accommodate us for dinner when we arrived around 3:00 pm, but I recommend emailing prior to your stay to be sure you have dinner reservations for your first night if you want to eat there. Otherwise, there is instant ramen in the gift shop and hot water in the room. The staff are all very friendly. Most do not speak English but did their best to communicate with us and we were able to check in and out, make dinner and breakfast arrangements, and discuss the bus schedule without a problem. If you're coming from the south or southwest, I recommend the Hida Limited Express train to get to Takayama, then the public bus to the hotel. The train and bus rides are both wonderful scenic rides into the mountains. "

It had a private wooden tub outside on the veranda with a spectacular mountain view, and an additional separate onsen tub inside the room as well. Each room is like a mini onsen with seated shower for cleansing beside the tub, as well as sink/counter area with hairdryer. They even provide a scale, really unusual! Food was unbelievably delicious. We generally enjoy traditional communal onsen but our friends who were visiting from the US preferred this private-tubs-only ryokan so we booked here and we all were absolutely thrilled with the experience. Yes our room had a couple of scratches on the wall but was otherwise very very nice. Our friends’ room was perfect with platform beds, beautiful. This was a highlight of their first trip to Japan. And we’ve never had a better meal anywhere in Japan. "

The dormitory is only 3 bunk beds for 6 people. Each bed has curtains, lights, and outlets, and the room has air conditioning and a heater for a comfortable stay.

It is an old building built 90 years ago. It is clean because it is properly cleaned, but the age of the building is undeniable in some places. If you understand this and stay with us, I think it will be a wonderful experience.

This facility is a converted warehouse that can accommodate up to 9 people.


We have realized a low price with minimum facilities. It was originally built for backpackers from overseas, but since Corona, we have decided to limit the number of guests to one per day.

The inn is designed to accommodate a large number of guests by introducing bunk beds, similar to those found in mountain lodges, youth houses, student dormitories, and YMCAs.

The beds surrounding the bedrooms are built-in bunk beds and triple bunk beds.

The right 1/3 of the large warehouse is the accommodation area.

The living room just inside the entrance, the bedroom with 9 bunk beds behind the living room, and the water room on the right, the accommodation area is for one group per day and no one else is allowed to enter.

At the back of the water room, the storage room is for the staff's cleaning supplies. The door is locked.
Also, part of the top of the bunk beds is a storage area for sheets, towels, spare bedding and blankets, etc., and is locked.

Other things to note
The back side of the dining room and the back side of our facility are in close proximity, and if you open a window in the area of the triple bunk beds, the smell of garlic may come in. We recommend that you do not open the windows, but turn on the ventilation fan.


Each bed is provided with “2 flat sheets, a pillow case, a small bath towel, and a face towel. You may use the sheets as you wish; we recommend that you place your body between the two sheets.

The stairs are not ladders, but are slightly raised, so they are easier to climb than ladders, but please be careful not to bump into each other when walking in the room.

The ladder to the bunk beds is not fixed. Please be careful not to knock them over.

The ladders and the built-in staircases that extend from the beds in the small bedrooms may be dangerous for small children, the physically challenged, and the elderly.

If you plan to have a BBQ, please make reservations through our dedicated listings.

The BBQ is not suitable for infants, toddlers, or people with limited mobility. Please refrain from using this facility.

If you wish to use one of our free rental bicycles, please let us know at least one day prior to your stay so that we can inflate the tires. Please check the brakes, lights, etc. yourself before using the bicycles, as they are old. Also, please obey all traffic laws and regulations.
Free bicycle rental is not insured. We are not responsible for any accidents caused by the free rental bicycles. Please use at your own risk.

To prevent problems, we do not accept reservations for cabs, restaurants, hot springs, etc. on behalf of our clients.
