This recently renovated (2017) and elegant apartment is located in the heart of Uzés, on the Place aux Herbes. The 16th century building was originally built for a prominent family. The staircase is unique in Uzés and makes a lovely entrance to the apartment on the first floor. Inside, the high provençal style ceilings and stunning fireplace mantels set the mood along with the stone floors, tall windows and beautiful decoration. Looking out on the lively square from the living room windows, one can only imagine the history of this enchanting place.
The bedrooms are located in the back of the apartment, on a calm pedestrian street, assuring a good night's rest. Each bedroom has plenty of storage space, comfortable bedding, ensuite bathrooms and blackout curtains.
The apartment has been thoughtfully renovated with all the modern conveniences in order to make your stay luxurious and comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped, the bathrooms are modern and the bedrooms furnished with comfortable beds and pretty antiques. We stayed the end of January into February. The weather was perfection; sunny and in the 60’s. We were able to participate in the Wednesday and Saturday market- which is just a treat. Be sure to book accordingly. The apartment is charming. Dominique has provided every amenity you could possibly need. The kitchen is stocked with all the basics. The open kitchen/living room and dining room is light and airy. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are spacious. This was such a perfect home away from home. I didn’t want to leave and am plotting my return. The apartment is beautifully decorated. Dominique has a book documented the renovations of the apartment and you can see all the effort that went into the property. Dominique was very responsive at every step of our visit. She is a great host. She left a bottle of wine and espresso- she doesn’t know it but she couldn’t have offered a better host gift! We did get a rental car so we could drive to other locations. You could also take the bus. We just didn’t want to be on anyone’s schedule so we opted for the rental. A car park is very nearby and very reasonable rates. We spent a month in Europe- Uzès and this apartment is our favorite place. I hope to return and will definitely do a month here next time."

Modern house of 70 sqm arranged over one floor, situated on the doorstep of the beautiful garrigue countryside, yet only 3 km from the historic town centre of Uzès, and walking distance to a supermarket and other amenities.

The house offers a small Mediterranean garden adorned with traditional stone walls, olive and pomegranate trees and a south facing patio, complete with dining table and chairs. The highlight is a small private pool in an intimate courtyard to the side of the house, perfect for a refreshing dip on a summer’s day.

The Gorges du Gardon, a classified Unesco world heritage site, is only 8 km away and is perfect for nature lovers and outdoor activities such as hiking, biking and canoeing. The Pont du Gard, an impressive roman aqueduct traversing the gorge, is also nearby. The city of Nîmes is only a 25 min drive away and Avignon 40 min.

- "We were blown away by Marie and Etienne's place. It looks brand new and very modern. Marie and Etienne are very gracious hosts though they spoke very little English we managed to communicate well. Texting seems to work best. The bonus was a great swimming pool that served us well due to it being July in the south of France. We rented a car after taking the train from Paris to Nimes and drove the rest of the way, about 35km. This gave us an opportunity to see the landscape as we drove in. We didn't expect a great town up the road called Uzes only a few kilometers away. Beautiful central square and shops galore. The apartment is on the first floor of an 18th century town house in a tranquil pedestrian street in the historic centre of Uzès, away from the crowds yet just a minute’s walk from the busy and popular Place aux Herbes - the best of both worlds. White wooden beams and walls, limed wooden and tiled terracotta floors provide a simple backdrop for colourful textiles. A large, light and well-equipped open-plan kitchen and dining area looks on to the street, and opens through to the comfortable sitting room with huge period stone fireplace. This room provides a welcome retreat from the sun in summer.

A small and sunny glazed conservatory area with table and chairs opening on to a balcony area is perfect for cooler days and leads up two or three steps to a large sunny terrace (much sought-after in the centre of Uzès) surrounded by trees, rooftops and with glimpses of the countryside beyond.

It is located a minute's stroll from the famous Place aux Herbes. On a protected street of the historic center of this charming town, on the second floor (European), of a 4 century old building. While the lower two floors are occupied by the owners of the building, who were once owners of a well-known Château Hotel, this apartment is an completely independent home. You will be Chez Vous.
The restoration has strived to maintain the character and proportions of the original historic home, while providing all modern conveniences, and a lot of charm. It is pleasing to the eye and soothing to the senses. The remarkable free-standing circular stone stair case remains a tribute to the engineering skills of the builders of centuries ago. The wooden ceiling beams and old stone floors have been maintained throughout and lend a special historical ambiance to the rooms. The spacious and gracious living room looks out over the fig and bamboo trees, and the new swimming pool of the small garden of the property and the rooftops of the town, while comfortable seating, elegant furnishings and the light and airy atmosphere make for a relaxing experience. The shaded patio overlooking the garden provided a comfortable eating place at any time of the day. My teenage girls loved the pool and walking to town to get ice cream. The house itself is clean and cool and had a wonderful view of the town. It was quiet and peaceful yet close enough to town for us to visit restaurants and cafes whenever we wanted. We traveled a few times and it was wonderful to return to the house to relax and swim. The host was wonderful and kind and very open to communication. We truly loved our stay at this house and village."

The location in the heart of Uzes is wonderful, boulangerie, wine shop, butcher shop and groceries all writhing a minute or two walk, as well as a minute walk to the Place aux Herbes with it’s shops and weekly markets. Just perfect, and our hosts were absolutely lovely. Can’t say enough!"
