- "This place is wonderful for families with children. Vastly exceeded our expectations!" - "The location was wonderful. Surprisingly it was right behind Wal-mart but once you entered you didn't realize where you were. The staff was helpful, the apartment clean, easy access to the gym, pool, and hot tub and all were in good condition and well cared for. It was quiet and since you had to pass a guard shack to gain entrance it felt very secure. We had 2 complaints while we were there. First of all the VRBO photos make it appear that we were renting an apartment with 2 bedrooms and both would have at minimum full size beds. What we got was a master bedroom with a king bed and on suite bathroom and then upstairs was 2 twin beds but no bathroom at all. The other issue was that there was NO wifi. I called the front desk and was told they were in the process of running the fiber optics for it so hopefully that won't be an issue for future visitors. I'd recommend the place to folks with kids, a girls getaway, or a couples getaway. We were in an upstairs apartment so if stairs are an issue for you be sure to request downstairs. Overall a pleasant stay, nice place, and great staff."

- "beautiful place" - "The resort was nice. There was little or no sound proofing between floors. We could hear the people above us walking and closing doors. It woke us up the 1st nought as they came in late." - "We enjoyed our time in the OBX and staying at the Beachwoods Resort in Kitty Hawk. The only downside is that the indoor pool was closed for most of the time we were there because there had apparently been some glass broken in the pool and it never got worked out. - "We LOVED the resort! The indoor pool was fantastic, and the outdoor pool was great as well. We also enjoyed the arcade and the paddle boats. And the rooms were beautiful and well-furnished. We appreciated that there were sufficient towels, sheets, coffee, and other amenities for all 8 of us. We are definitely interested in returning! The only downside for us was that, as we were in a lock-out unit connecting two rooms, there were lots of stairs we had to climb. The majority of our group was older, so that presented some challenges. Next time, we would have to stay downstairs!!!!!"

Tucked between the Atlantic Ocean and Albemarle Sound in the middle of a 100-acre Maritime Forest, Beachwoods Resort is surrounded by lakes, woodlands, wetlands, rolling dunes and wildlife. It is a unique destination on the famous Outer Banks of North Carolina and sits adjacent to a 700-acre nature preserve. Enjoy the outdoor recreation park which includes tennis, volleyball and basketball courts. Relax by one of the on-site pools, in the Lakeside Lodge or while fishing from the shore.

Other things to note
The place was updated and clean. The kitchen was stocked with all pots and pans, dishes and utensils. The unit had a full sized refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, and coffee pot. Right outside the unit was a washer and dryer that one other unit shared. The resort itself was very nice. We stayed Wed-Saturday and the place seemed very low-key and not crowded. During our stay we visited the large outdoor pool and indoor pool with waterpark and lazy river. On the lake we were able to use the paddle boats. The resort provided fishing poles with rubber bait. My husband caught a fish. There were lots of turtles in the pond and we were able to feed the turtles vegetables. The resort offered towels for the pool but if you want pool noodles or floats you will need to bring your own. The resort also had board games and dvds that you could borrow to use in your room. There were nature trails to hike on, a basketball court, a playground, a fitness center (and I think volleyball and tennis courts) but we didn't use any of those. The resort seemed to be short staffed but every staff member I encountered was very nice an helpful. The manager even texted me multiple times to check in and see how my stay was. Any questions I had she was able to answer. As far as checking in, the time listed was 4 pm but we got there around 12:30 or 1 and they were able to get us right in. I asked if there was a late checkout beyond 10 and they said no. However, they provided us with an amenity key that allowed us to stay the day and use the pool and other facilities and the waterpark.
