Remember this listing is located in a tropical environment. If you are not a fan of nature or bugs, this is not a good location. Lizards, mosquitoes, Palmetto bugs and ants are a part of North Carolina's nature and quite common in the area. We have professional Pest Control inspecting and treating all our properties, however, mother nature can be more powerful. Please keep doors and windows closed and all food concealed and closed.

There's a public beach access with parking and a bath house 2 minutes away by car.

Step into our airy open concept apartment with ocean views and tons of natural light.

The living room has vaulted ceilings, ocean views, and includes a large over-sized sectional, mid century modern TV stand, and a large TV with Netflix, Disney Plus and Amazon Video.

All of our neighbors look out for one another. A few of them are short term rentals hosts as well so you are surrounded by a great group of locals and it is extremely safe.

PLEASE NOTE: this apartment is not ocean front but has ocean views. It is located on one of the tallest parts of the island. The home is extremely close to the ocean just minutes away to a public beach access with free parking :) We do recommend driving vs walking so you don't have to carry the beach gear we provide across a busier summer road. The ocean is just a few blocks away. There are two Airbnb apartments below yours that are completely separate.

My suite is located 5 minutes past Wright Memorial Bridge. Uniquely situated in a coastal preserve adjacent to a multi use path that will take you anywhere within Kitty Hawk, Duck or Kill Devil Hills. If you love biking, kayaking, surfing or just love nature this is the spot for you! A flight of stairs leads you to a private deck and entrance to an airy and spacious suite with everything you need to rest up for your daily adventures here on the beautiful Outer Banks. Byrd street beach access in Kitty Hawk is less than a ten minute drive with plenty of parking. All shopping and dining options are within a short bike ride or drive. We hope you enjoy the convenience and peace that our Bluebird Suite offers.

We live next to some amazing neighbors who look out for each others home. It is extremely safe and quiet here. There are only houses on one side of the street making it very quiet and relaxing vs other areas in the Outer Banks.

We invite you to your home away from home this season. Our lovely apartment is located in a quite neighborhood set away from the main roads with tons of privacy while still having the luxury of being just a short walk to both the ocean and sound. The apartment is +/- 750 Sq.Ft and offers a master sized bedroom with a king sized bed, a full bathroom, an open floor plan living room with beautiful sectional and 65 inch TV that offers Netflix, a full eat in kitchen, outdoor shower, and a private roof top deck with seating! This deck also has ocean views (please note that we are not ocean front but not far at all!).

Are there any restaurants within walking distance?
Trio Wine Bar is within walking distance of our home. It offers delicious food, excellent wine, beer, and cheese selection, and live music nightly! There are also many OBX well known restaurants within a five minute drive from the home including: Barefoot Bernies, Black Pelican, and Hurricane Mos.

Do you have a tea pot?
Unfortunately No :/ But the Keurig can brew a cup of hot water for you to steep tea in!

This apartment is one of two in the same building. It is completely private to you and you will have your own private entrance on the top floor, and private roof top deck.

We are available to text, email or call throughout the day with any issues or questions. We will communicate detailed description on how to get into the space and where to park after booking.

The neighborhood is extremely quiet. All lots are around 15k - 20k sq.ft. so you have very nice spacing between homes. Its extremely cozy and you will love all of the natural lighting you get in the home.

All the basics are available a taxi, car, bike and even Uber.

**This home is a duplex style layout, your rental is located on the ground level of the home. The cool thing is there is no one above you except a deck and that deck is blocked off for no use to the other apartment. Your apartment is 100% private for you and not shared with anyone. The other apartment is also rented on Airbnb or VRBO so feel free to reach out to us if you need a larger apartment!

CHECK OUT AND CHECK IN:

- Check In is at 4:00 PM. If our cleaners finish the home early we will send you the check in information as soon as the house is ready. We can not guarantee the home will be ready early or a specific check in time. Please plan accordingly!

- Check Out is at 10:00 AM. Unfortunately in order to get the home ready for the next guest in a timely manor we are unable to accommodate any late check outs. In addition our cleaners do charge infraction fees if they need to wait on guests to leave past 10:00 AM

HOW FAR IS THE BEACH?
- The beach just a few blocks from the house so it is definitely within walking distance, however, we always recommend driving as you do have to cross one busier street. There are several free parking beach accesses within a 2 minute drive. Also, we provide 2 beach chairs so it is a bit easier to take everything to the beach via car!

IS THERE A GRILL?
- Unfortunately No. Due to wind we do not allow grills.

WHAT SHOULD WE BRING?
- Beach Towels.
- Additional coffee and paper products that you may need outside of what we provide.
- Any additional items you may need that we do not provide.

ARE THERE ANY RESTAURANTS WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE?
- Trio, our favorite wine and cheese bar is just up the street within walking distance! They offer wine, beer, cheese, tapas, and sandwiches.
- There are many well known restaurants within a five minute drive from the home including: Barefoot Bernies, Black Pelican, and Hurricane Mos.

DO YOU HAVE A TEA POT?
- Unfortunately No :/ But the Keurig can brew a cup of hot water for you to steep tea in!

Entire first floor apartment 1000 square ft. (Owners live on 2nd floor with Roman a Newfoundland dog). Very private space and both owners and renters have their own entry. Fun spot full of amenities: washer/dryer/kitchen/dining area, 1 queen bed in separate private bedroom. Bunk beds with twin on the top and full sized bottom mattress. Large Flat screen TV in main living area and 2nd TV in Bedroom. Private pool, large grassy yard, under house recreation area with gas grill/ping pong table/corn horn/picnic table/outdoor shower/hammock/beach chairs/umbrella. Semi-Private beautiful Southern Shores beach is 2 1/2 blocks away. Distance to the beach is an easy walk or free parking pass is provided. There is 1 additional unit on opposite side of property rented to a local couple. Usage of amenities are for owners and seasonal guests. Additionally, our dog is never outside alone. He is always with the Owner.

Comfortable home-feel type large modern studio apartment with high ceilling. Second floor, no elevator. Private space and separate entry. Enjoy the quiet space, gorgeous sunset view, and beautiful landscape, and smell the roses (during the season.) Listen to the birds, and smell the salty air and relaxing.

Cozy large bedroom, large bathroom, and walk-in closet. Smart TV with Netflix access. Small fridge with freezer, microwave, and coffee maker. No kitchen.

We have one double bike, three regular bikes, a kayak for two people, and a stand-up paddleboard. These are shared among guests from two other apartments. We don't have direct access to the water. However, we're a two-minute walk to the Albemarle Sound access, and a boardwalk makes it perfect for a sunset stroll. We're about a ten-minute walk to the ocean.
There's a distant view of the ocean from the bathroom and closet windows Bedroom faces the sound but the water view is blocked by trees.

Please note that the studio is located on the 2nd floor via outdoor stairs. If you have difficulty walking up the stairs, check out my other apartments on the ground floor.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay very much." - "The property owners have a great location and make it very convenient to use their bikes on the Wright Brothers multi use path. Even though I did not use it, their kayaks are available to the sound side just down the hill from their property. If you own your own boat, there is also a wildlife access point on the sound side very close to their property."

The Live Oak Cottage is a beautiful guest suite situated under sprawling live oak trees. The studio suite and main house was originally a US Coast Guard Lifesaving Station built in 1901 - and moved to its current location in the 60s. The suite has been restored to bring it up to date with modern amenities, while retaining its rustic charm. A full kitchenette, with fridge, plug in cook top, gas grill + more. Sit back and relax on your private deck or walk to the beach in just 5 minutes. Note: this is a tiny house / studio - so it is one room with a king bed, kitchenette with stool seating and a separate full bathroom.

This guest cottage is located behind the main house, but detached so you have your own deck, entry, and privacy. There is a kitchenette, full bathroom with shower, king size bed and a flat screen TV. We have a toaster, Keurig, plug in induction cook top, and all needed cooking utensils, pot and pan. There is a private deck out back for you to relax under the sprawling live oak trees with outdoor shower rinse off, gas grill + seating area.

We live in the main house and are available via text or airbnb message.

Located in Southern Shores and on a quiet street just 5 minutes from the beach.

5 minute walk to the beach, 5 minute drive to the Town of Duck or Kitty Hawk.

We do allow pets with prior approval. Pet fee is $95 per stay ( we allow only one pet). The pet fee is non negotiable, we have pets and want to keep our rentals pet friendly but even the best of pets have more wear and tear than you’d think. The property is situated on a quiet street but does back up to Duck rd. There is a privacy fence but you can hear the cars passing by. We still love the area and privacy this woodsy land provides. ***Outer Banks & Bugs - the outer banks has a variety of wildlife - and palmetto bugs / water bugs are one of them - especially after heavy rains and high humidity - we have all our rentals on monthly pest control treatment but we like to give guests a heads up as sometimes you will see them dead inside***

The sleep number bed was fun to fiddle with, the kitchenette was nicely stocked, the bathroom (although small) was functional/practical, and the swivel TV mount made watching a movie before bed feasible! We loved being able to use the beach chairs provided and had we stayed longer, we would have likely utilized the grill. The outdoor shower & water hose made beach clean up for us and our dog quick & easy. The space was clean, well-stocked, practically designed and tastefully decorated. We loved the huge window (so did our dog) and ample privacy (even in someone's back yard!). Although you can't hear ocean waves (you can hear nearby cars from the bathroom and porch) the location was ideally close to Duck (5 minute drive) and a short quarter mile/5 minute walk to the beach. The beach access was lovely and desolate. I am sure the lack of people was likely because we were not there in peak season but the cottage is located on a street without public beach access parking which likely makes this section of the beach less busy even during peak season. There were plenty of close by dog-friendly spots and we loved the close proximity to the Duck boardwalk. We would for sure stay here again!"
