The Thomas McLin House.

A prominent local Coppersmith and merchant built this home for his daughter in 1822. While visiting New Bern stay in this historic 2 story federal style Apartment.

During the Great Fire of New Bern in 1922 the roof burnt, however the home was luckily able to be repaired and expanded in the federal style as two townhouse style apartments, as it remains today. The heart pine wood flooring outlines the original 1822 floor plan, while the 1922 upstairs addition constructed after the devastating great fire has southern yellow pine wood flooring. The original 1822 fireplace mantel remains, and the antique light fixtures make you feel as though you’ve been transported back in time.

You will be located within a short walk to many amentities such as shopping, restrauants, museums, and marinas. We are located 2 blocks from the historic Tryon Palace main gate and a couple more blocks from the NC History Museum. Whether you are touring the historical streets and sites of one of North Carolina’s colonial capitals or enjoying the neighborhood coffee shop, hunting for treasures at one of the many antique shops, taking a day trip to the beach, exploring coastal Carolina, or enjoying the micro-brewery a few blocks away, this is a convenient and great location to call home while you are visiting.

Comfy Corner - A Unique One Bedroom with a comfortable queen size bed in a condo room that is bigger than many hotel rooms. We love that it is surrounded by nature, places to walk, and ponds throughout the walking area. You have your own private keyed entrance. No one else has access to it during your stay.

It has room darkening curtains making it a great place to sleep. We have a coffee maker with coffee pods. There is a small table and 2 chairs, a luggage rack, and a TV with over the air channels and a fire stick where you can access your own apps.

We have a beautiful public golf course open 7 days unless there is an event; and "The Pointe" restaurant on site is open 5 days a week, Wednesdays through Sundays. On Mondays and Tuesdays we have food trucks that are located in the parking lot of the bank's ATM.

There are many excellent restaurants in Downtown New Bern. Morgan' s Tavern is our favorite. The Marina has a small store and we have a Dollar General a few miles away where you can pick up various items. It does not have a kitchen but it does have a small refrigerator, separate freezer, and a microwave and a coffee maker with coffee pods and tea bags. It is a great place to visit and/or look around if you are planning to move to this area!

We have an activity center with an in-door and outdoor pool, hot tub, miniature golf, the Marina and a small store at the Mariana. I would meet you there to get up to 2 tickets for one day passes. You cannot live in the 3 surrounding counties of Craven, Pamlico or Jones County; otherwise a valid ID with home address and state will allow me to get you two passes.

There are events in town and in Fairfield Harbour throughout the year. New Bern is the Colonial Capital of North Carolina. It is a very quaint, historical town. There is Mum Fest, the Ghost Walk, The Firefighters Museum, The Pepsi Museum and Tryon Palace as well as historical churches and sections of the City, to name a few popular sites and events. There are walking trails and the unit is walking distance to the Fishing Pier.

You can spend a few nights, a week, or longer; but you don't have to spend a fortune! Check in is at 3:00 pm and Check out is at 11:00 am. Please feel free to ask for extensions of check in and out by contacting me. Whenever no one else is checking in or out, I can extend a certain amount of time for your convenience!

- "Our family of four spent two nights in the house and it was the perfect place for us. The house is right downtown, so easy walking distance to Tryon Palace, shops and restaurants (we recommend the pizza place across the street!) The interior of the house is quite charming, with every little detail making you feel as if you're reliving the Victorian era. Located in the heart of downtown historic New Bern, this charming apartment has 2 bedrooms 2 full baths. With one king, one queen, a pull out couch and blow up mattress, there’s plenty of space for everyone. The space is dog friendly, so the whole family can stay. The kitchen contains all the basics, and there is a washer and dryer available for use. The walk in shower and working elevator create a fully accessible space for handicapped individuals.

The apartment is located next door to the birthplace of Pepsi, where you can enjoy an ice cold Pepsi while touring the small museum. High quality bars and restaurants line the streets, as well as small stores with unique gifts and souvenirs. Down the road, you can learn all about New Bern’s history in Tryon Palace and Union Park. Come explore this historic town and enjoy the adventures it brings! We do not currently have a designated parking space for the property yet. We are working on this issue however, there is street and lot parking available in town that is less than a block away.

- "We have visited New Berns usually every 3 months for several years. This home is the perfect getaway for us. Charles and Mary were the perfect host and always responded to any questions both before and during our stay. The home is lovely. The living room is quite generous, as is the kitchen. The bathroom features a lovely walk in shower. When Charles and Mary had this revamped they did a tremendous job in tying in the historic features but providing modern luxury. The induction range was a surprise and since I love to cook it proved to be a real treat. Probably one of the most important thing to my husband and me is Location. This was the best spot we ever stayed at. We could easily access the river walk; was walkable to every wonderful restaurant in New Bern, could enjoy the beauty of the historic homes...and the list goes on. Would I stay here again? You bet. Cozy Coastal Casita in the Historic Riverside neighborhood of New Bern, North Carolina. Less than a mile from the riverfront and Union Point Park where you can enjoy the gazebo, a children’s playground, feeding the ducks, and seasonal community activities. Walk the Riverwalk all along the entire outer edge of our beautiful waterfront town. Enjoy the numerous restaurants and shops and do not miss the amazing, historic, preserved Tryon Palace!

This Casita is a one-bedroom with a double bed that sleeps two and a twin-size trundle. There are also 2 couches in the great room. Well-behaved pets are permitted, however, please keep in mind there is a gas stove and we want everyone to have a safe and fun visit! Parking is in the driveway immediately in front of the Casita. There is also free street parking if you prefer. The space is upstairs from the garage. You will walk up the stairs to the balcony with hanging seats for your enjoyment. The private entrance is accessed from the balcony. The space is not handicapped accessible.

You will get a code personal specific to you for the duration of your stay that will unlock the door to the property.

We do live in a house on the same lot if that is important to you. We are available for assistance but assure your privacy if you prefer no assistance.

Check-in is at 3:00 pm or later; if you need early access, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

- "Nice, clean, comfortable. Great subdivision. " - "If I had to sum up this place: amateur hour. The unit is extremely outdated and hasn’t been properly maintained. It would take a full renovation just to bring it up to early 2000s hotel standards. There was visible dust, cobwebs in the windows, and even millipedes in one room. One bathroom wasn’t clean, and there was mold in the fridge lining. The décor looks stuck in the 70s or 80s. The pull-out couch had sheets but no blanket. TVs are ancient with no streaming—just DVD players and basic cable.The “welcome packet” was a bunch of old printouts in an envelope, not helpful.. Check-in was chaotic: our unit wasn’t cleaned, then we were given a different one—only to discover someone was already staying there. We had to go back to the office to get a new unit. It worked out in the end, but after a 6-hour drive, that’s a frustrating way to start a stay.On the positive side, the grounds are nice. The lake and scenery are peaceful, and the porch has a nice view (though it needs a good power wash). Security is present, internet is decent, and the community center has pools and tennis courts.Still, the lack of cleanliness and modern amenities makes this a place I wouldn’t recommend. With some care and investment, it could be better—but as it stands now, I wouldn’t stay here again."

No Smoking: This is a smoke-free property. A $200 cleaning fee will be charged if this rule is violated.

No Parties or Events: To maintain a peaceful environment for all guests, parties and events are not allowed. Any violation of this rule may result in immediate eviction and a $300 fee.

Quiet Hours: Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM. Please be considerate of our neighbors and other guests.

Pet Policy: We do allow pets. If a guest brings a pet without informing us first or brings more than one, there will be a $200 fee charged and the reservation will be immediately canceled.

Cleaning Up Before Leaving: Guests are expected to leave the apartment in a clean and tidy condition. Any appliances used need to be cleaned. Please wash any used dishes, dispose of trash in the designated bins, and place used towels in the laundry basket. There is a broom and dustpan to tidy up.

Damages and Extra Cleaning Fees: Guests will be responsible for any damage to the property or its contents during their stay. Additional cleaning fees may be charged if the apartment is left excessively dirty.

Unexpected, additional guests:
The premises are limited to the number of guests on the reservation. Guests will be assessed $50 per night per guest that was not listed on the reservation, and we reserve the right to decline hosting these additional, unexpected guests at any time, for any reason. However, guests that desire to bring additional friends over for a couple hours during the day may do so with prior coordination.

Pets: We do not allow pets in order to be courteous of allergies of other guests. Unauthorized animals will be assessed a pet fee of $100 per day for violation of this policy.

Outside: This apartment is the top unit of a duplex. There is a private entrance but shared parking. It is also located off of highway 70 and there is traffic noise when you are outside. Inside is very quiet.

This comfy hideaway is three blocks from the Neuse River and a short walk to Historic Downtown along the tree-lined scenic river walkway. Your walk ends at Union Point Park with beautiful views of the river, a playground, and lots of ducks and sea gulls. Downtown has great restaurants, breweries, interesting shops, and art galleries, The Tryon Palace and other historic landmarks are all close by. Leave your car behind! Very walkable!

Enter the elegant first floor apartment with 12-foot ceilings and a historic picture window and front door to match. Everything has been lovingly modernized with excellent central AC, and free fast WiFi. The living room sofa is the perfect spot to watch the sunset through the trees or enjoy free streaming of Netflix, Max, Prime and Roku on the 42" smart TV. The bedroom has a comfortable full-sized bed for two people, ensuite bathroom, a dedicated workspace, and a closet with lots of storage. The sofa in the living room can be made up with twin sheets for a third guest or child. At 32" x 72" it is slightly smaller than a standard twin mattress and amazingly comfortable!

The galley kitchen has a sink and counter, small refrigerator with separate freezer, microwave, two-burner stove, and air-fryer combo oven on one side, and a full size rolling kitchen island on the other. Lots of counter and storage space. Dishes, silverware, basic food prep' supplies, and cooking pans and utensils are all provided. When not in use, the kitchen is hidden behind stylish curtains. There are dinner settings for four and a small dining table for two. A separate beverage station faces the sofa with a Keurig coffee and latté maker, boiling water kettle, and lots of coffee, tea and add-ons.

The front porch and the upstairs balcony are public spaces for everyone in the building.

We are a designated historical site where the tourist trolley stops twice a day. Bring out two folding chairs to sit on the front porch or go up to the balcony to wave to the tourist trolley.

As the sun sets, take a cocktail up to the balcony with cushioned lounge chairs and enjoy the views of the city at dusk.

The apartment can be wheelchair accessible upon request with secure temporary wheelchair ramps to manage the 3 steps up to the front door. The interior doorways accommodate a traveler wheelchair.

The Rhone Hotel was built in 1923 by Charlotte Rhone, the first black nurse in North Carolina, and her three sisters. First it was a rooming house, then a hotel, and now a four-plex apartment building. It was listed in “the Green Book” consistently from 1938 to 1967 as a safe place for Black travelers to stay. Watch "The Green Book", the Oscar-winning Best Picture of 2019 that depicts the true story of a successful black musician with a white driver traveling through the south in 1962.

Recently renovated, it highlights New Bern's proud Civil War history.

The "Tree House" is a second-floor apartment that is an easy walk to downtown restaurants, fun activities, and all that New Bern has to offer. Leave your car behind! Very walkable!

From glorious antique windows you can see the historic train station and an occasional freight train as it passes by. It is like living in a luxury tree house while you relax in the comfort of the spacious living room or bedroom. A perfect romantic retreat!

The space
This elegant upstairs apartment has windows on three sides “among the trees.” It is a few blocks from the Neuse River and a short walk to Historic Downtown along the tree-lined scenic river walkway. There is easy free street parking on Queen Street for you and your guests. Unload right in front of the building and then move your car down the block a little so others can unload too.

Enter the building through double doors and up the main staircase. On the right side of the upper hall, you will see Apt B. Enter the spacious living room with a comfortable sofa where you can put up your feet to watch TV on the Toshiba Smart TV platform with free streaming provided to Netflix, HBO Max, Amazon Prime, Disney+, ESPN and YouTube TV. Or you can cast your favorites from your cell phone.

On the left side of the living room is the new galley kitchen with a full-size stove/oven, multipurpose sink, dishwasher, frig’ on top, and freezer on the bottom. The new drawer cabinets provide lots of storage space. Dishes, cups, silverware, condiments, cooking pans and utensils are ready for you to make your own feast. By the large kitchen window find a complete “breakfast station” with Keurig coffee maker, electric kettle, toaster, and all the coffee and supplies above, and trash and recycling bins below. There is even a small seating area.

The bathroom is also on the left side of the living room with a large shower and window to view more green spaces! A new tankless water heater means you will never run out of hot water.

Retreat to the peaceful bedroom that has a Queen-size bed with an amazingly comfortable medium-firm hybrid mattress. That means it has a standard mattress combined with memory foam. (Watching the leaves float in the wind from your bed is a special treat.) Blackout shades all around when you want to sleep in. Two touch-controlled bedside lamps have ports to charge your mobile devices. A desk with easy access to electric and device outlets, a wireless printer, and a large closet complete the bedroom. You share the upstairs balcony with one other upstairs apartment across the hall. Both apartments have a door from their bedrooms to the back hall and balcony.

Two window units heat and cool the apartment throughout. Once you set your preferred temperature on Auto mode, the units will maintain that setting. No need to turn the units on and off. Keep them at one setting for your entire stay or use the remote controllers to adjust the temp as needed.

There are two apartments on the second floor, Apt B and Apt C, directly across the hall from each other. You enter through the building double doors and up the central staircase. The front porch is for all to have public access into the building.

The upstairs balcony is reserved for the two upstairs apartments. Both apartments have doors from their bedrooms into the shared hall, the stairwell, and to the balcony. As the sun sets, take a cocktail to the balcony with cushioned lounge chairs and enjoy the views of the city at dusk, or maybe get to know the other guests! On a clear night for holiday weekends, you can see the fireworks from the balcony.

Lil’ Dock is a beautiful waterfront apartment over the garage with a private entry and deck overlooking the Neuse River. Relax on the back deck with a glass of wine while watching the sunset view of the New Bern skyline. It’s just a five-minute drive to historic downtown New Bern where you will find great restaurants and plenty of unique local shops. This property has only one designated parking spot and cannot accommodate trailers. Due to allergies, no pets.
