- "We had 17 family members stay at the house for a week. The house was great, plenty of space for all! We were close to the beach and to the sound, both just a short walk away." - "We had a party of two families, a total of 13 people. It was perfect for us! We had ample bedrooms, the ammenities were just as described. The directions on how to operate the tvs and internet were clear. Be advised that there are no standard items such as hand soap, garbage bags, napkins, paper towels, extra toilet paper. There is a Kuerig type coffee maker. (It's an odd brand name, but works great!) The walk to the beach was a bit far for us, as we had small children, but the parking lot was close, and we enjoyed the clean uncrowded beaches. Being less than a mile from the lighthouse and only 2 miles from the store, was very convenient. The owner is very good about responding to emails quickly. The property managers also responded quickly when we had a problem. Would consider staying again."

Come to where the wild horses roam and the surf fishing is legendary on a tiny strip of land in the Atlantic Ocean that stands as the last rural beach on the OBX- known as Carova Beach or "The 4WD area" by locals. This NEW rental property is the first floor of a remote Northern hideaway where there are no roads, no signs and no mail delivery. We are the unofficial base camp for expedition into the very remote and pristine False Cape Park. YOU MUST HAVE A 4WD VEHICLE OR YOU WILL NOT MAKE IT HERE!!

This 3 bedroom unit is the private first floor apt of a two story home. Close enough to the ocean that you can hear the waves (5 minute walk and a 1 minute drive to get to our beach) It has a private entrance, large gated, partially covered private deck with outdoor patio furniture, couch, coffee table, a picnic table and umbrella, ceiling fan and power. The bathroom inside the unit is a powder room only with a toilet and sink. ATTN: THE ONLY SHOWER IS INSIDE A BATH HOUSE ON YOUR PRIVATE DECK OUTSIDE, INCLUDES A CHANGING AREA AND HOT AND COLD RUNNING WATER, (SEE PICTURES) The Shower and patio area is not shared and is for your private use only. The Main room-suite has a queen bed, 4k 50inch TV with surround sound stereo system, WIFI, wood pellet stove, large reclining sectional couch , additional seating, night stand a coffee table. There is an HDMI connection for a laptop to the TV. There is also a Blu-ray/DVD player for movies, etc. There is no Netflix unit, smart TV or cable. We suggest you bring your laptop to access other entertainment services online.
Although we allow up to 4 guests, it is best suited to either two adults or a couple with two children. WE DO NOT HAVE HIGH-CHAIRS, CRIBS OR ANY PROVISIONS SUITABLE FOR TODDLERS OR NEWBORNS.

There are 2 smaller bedrooms attached with bunk beds ideal for friends or teenage family members. Be advised, the main living room is set up like a typical hotel bedroom suite with an open design. The two other bedrooms are smaller and are connected directly to the main suite with the main suite as a through way to the bathroom and kitchen. Something to keep in mind in terms of privacy. ALSO, the A/C unit keeps the place very cool but it is located in the main suite.
Kitchen has a large, stainless French door fridge with filtered water and an ice maker, induction stovetop, air fryer/oven, microwave, Asian style rice cooker, a slow-cooker, toaster, Coffee maker, high speed blender, electric can opener, clean stainless steel tables for prep work and a large commercial stainless wash tub with a two person bistro table and chairs set . Each guest gets one table setting with utensils, bowl, plate, drinking glass, and coffee cup. Adult guest get red and white wine glasses. No additional glassware or utensils will be provided. We suggest picking up paper plates and plastic utensils , cups, etc. if this is an issue for you.

Outside there is a lounge area with a couch , coffee table and chairs, a gas grille with side burner next to a stainless steel, dual table sink with hot and cold running water for prepping fresh caught fish, crabs or veggies for the grill.

BE ADVISED! The upstairs unit is our family summer beach getaway. We live our lives as we always have here and genuinely enjoy hosting our guests. We are not a high volume business because we don't need to be. One of us (Usually me or one of my adult children) will be on site enjoying the OBX just like you and are always happy to respond to your needs if it's within our power. We do occasionally walk our dogs early in the morning so you may hear us coming down the outdoor stairs. If you've stayed in a condo or a townhouse and you can hear the occasional bump or if you've ever stayed in a hotel and can hear people in the hallway every so often then that's GREAT! ..you won't complain in your review because you know what that is like and we are laying it out in the open right now. We don't have small children, we don't listen to loud music or tap dance on the floor and are usually in bed by 9PM. We really ARE aware that you are beneath us and do our very best to be mindful of the noise we make. You'll also be happy to know that you are the only group renting on the property. You can stay up as long as you want, watch TV , listen to soft music, etc... If you take issue with something we will bend over backwards to fix it...however you gotta let us know and give us the chance to make it better! Is that crazy talk? I hope not! (; While this is DEFINITLEY NOT a party house we are very tolerant and our guests are always louder than we are. The great part is we DO NOT share your space and try as hard as possible to give our guests a wide berth and mind our own business because we respect your privacy! THERE IS OUR DISCLAIMER! >>not trying to be obnoxious, we are just trying to be wide open about things up front instead of trying to lure people in with false claims (like so many do on ABB). Hopefully people will appreciate it.

The outdoor patio is enclosed with corral gates that should remain closed at night otherwise you will find wild horses staring at you through your sliding glass door and horse poop all over the patio! They like to go under cover and into people's garages here, especially when it rains. ALWAYS REMEMBER-NEVER FEED OR PET THE HORSES. They live on a strict and unusual diet that no other breed of horse on the planet does so a single apple can kill .

ONLY THE NUMBER OF GUESTS INDICATED ON YOUR BOOKING WILL BE PERMITTED TO STAY OVERNIGHT ON THE PROPERTY. The whole first floor of the house minus the laundry and marked private storage rooms is your dedicated space including a large enclosed outdoor deck and patio with a seating/lounge area that is protected from weather. The Kitchen is connected to the living and sleeping quarters through a doorway and is your private kitchen to , prep, cook and store your dry and perishable food supplies.

Please don't ask to use our private laundry room as we are on a small septic system. Thanks for your kind consideration.

We are the unofficial base camp for the very remote and pristine False Cape State Park. There is no public parking here at the Northern most point of Carova beach anywhere near or at the entrance of the park and it's 12 miles up the beach to get to the park entrance which means other park goers have to walk or bike miles with their gear to get to the gate entrance of the park . The Mustang Galley is conveniently located right at the entrance of the False Cape so park your vehicle, bring your kayaks and bikes and head out for the day with ease . Other rentals on Carova beach will be miles from the False Cape so it's a major advantage for friends of The Galley who like to camp, kayak, bike, and hike the "primative coast". The Park is one of the last stretches of undeveloped beach front and Bay front land on the entire Atlantic Coast and is very difficult to get to (unless you stay at the Mustang Galley) as there is no vehicle access to the park on either side (NC or VA) except on foot, bike or by small water craft (there is a remote dock in the park on the bayside that can be accessed via the Currituck Sound from the Carova Beach Park boat ramp). Overnight camping is permitted by reservation and there are miles of bike trails, unspoiled empty beaches, wild horses and bay shore that is never crowded due to it's remote location. Make no mistake this is a wild and remote coastal reserve that is the last of it's kind !

Note: The False Cape Park is open to overnight campers all year round.

The apartment comes supplied with some basic necessities so y'all can enjoy your time on vacation! Here are the details on what is provided for this beach getaway:
- Linens & bath towels are provided
- Fully stocked kitchen with supplied garbage bags, dish soap, sponge, paper towels, hand soap, coffee grounds, coffee liners, salt, pepper, and olive oil
- The bathroom is stocked with a hair dryer, hand soap, toilet paper, and Kleenex (no personal toiletries are provided i.e. body wash/shampoo)
- On site washer and dryer, detergent and dryer sheets are provided, there's also an iron if needed
- 2 bikes are provided for y’all to cruise around town or to the beach!

Less than 0.5 miles to the beach:
You could easily walk, bike, or drive depending on what you prefer!

→ Public beach access on Corolla Village Rd with parking, lifeguard stand (seasonal), and bathhouses.

The Coastal Studio is also walking distance to the Currituck Lighthouse, the Island Bookstore, Juice Jar, Beer Garden, the Kind Cup Café, Northern Lights Bakery, Whalehead Club Park, and more!! (those are just a few of the local faves - check out our Guidebook for more recommendations!)

Guest access
Guests have access to the entire second floor of the studio & outdoor porch via a private entryway.

The dock on site is privately owned and operated by the business so guests may not always have access to walk the dock during their stay. Guests are welcome to walk the dock when the gate is open but if the gate is locked, please be respectful of that!

Other things to note
The studio is located above a garage used by Coastal Explorations, a locally owned business that runs stand-up paddleboard and kayak tours as well as equipment rentals. Business hours are typically 8am-4pm, with an occasional sunset tour during peak summer season (mostly June, July, and August).

The business is in operation mid Memorial Day to Labor Day. With their most busy season being mid June through mid August.

This apartment is located above a business with a private entrance outside. It will be a door with a keypad entrance. You'll receive a detailed check in guide the morning of your check-in.

The space
Our space has tall ceilings and plenty of natural light. The color scheme is very relaxing as well. Each bedroom has a king-size bed with a televisión in each room. The living room has a queen pull out sofa with a very comfortable mattress. The kitchen has all appliances imaginable from a juicer, rice cooker to a waffle maker. It also has a wagon, beach chairs, a baby high chair, and a playpen along with beach toys in the outside garage. There is also a grill for all your grilling needs!

Property comes with a parking space, plenty of visitor parking. Guests have access to the temepered pool. There are cabanas available for rent via a 3rd party as well.
