Whether you enjoy lying on the beach, ocean sports, bird watching, exercising, or the sounds of nature, you can have it all here without feeling like you are in a tourist destination. The Woods Rd where the home is located, offers easy access to both ends of Kitty Hawk Beach, but also offers easy access to all other areas within the Outer Banks. The pedestrian multi-use path runs in front of the private driveway offering an easy walk to a unique covered bridge or a great place for riding bikes or a morning run. Wake up to the sounds of nature and have coffee on the large deck overlooking the preserve, or enjoy a cozy morning in with an abundance of natural light. The town house style offers 12 foot high ceilings throughout the second level offering a cozy but spacious feel. A full kitchen, french doors opening to a beautiful full length deck, as well as a full laundry and outdoor shower on ground level round out the second floor. IMPORTANT Note for my guests: This home is designed as a guest cottage. The living space is 700 square feet with an additional 300 square feet of private deck space. It does not feel small due to the high ceilings and layout, but may not be large enough for families with multiple kids. Enjoy more than just the beach in this bright and airy 1 bedroom 1 bathroom efficiency with porch and fenced yard, located in a quiet, centrally located neighborhood. It's just one block from the bay/sound, and an easy walk or bike to the beach!

The interior space has queen bed, dresser, desk, flat screen smart tv with cable AND roku (with netflix, discovery app, etc), coffee maker, microwave and mini fridge. New linens, comforters and towels at the beginning of every season. The bathroom is nautically themed, with walk-in tile shower and granite countertop vanity. Walk out onto the porch for coffee or a cocktail, to hear the birds & smell the salt air. There's a small ocean peek from the porch.

The fenced yard makes it easy to bring your fur baby! Just relax and enjoy the beach or the bay, you'll be able to go see sunrises over the ocean, and sunsets over the sound.

It's a short walk to the beach, with a pedestrian-friendly stoplight crosswalk. Or, it's about a 30 second drive to one of the many public beach access, all with free parking.

The bedroom, bathroom and covered porch are private to you. There is a shared entrance area to walk through (shared with the owner) to get to the stairs that lead to the private porch and the private room/bathroom. The porch overlooks a fully fenced yard that is shared with the owner and her dogs. (I minimize the time my dogs spend in the yard while guests are there. It's usually just a few minutes in the morning and in the evening. I arrange the time I let them out to avoid contact with guest dogs.)

The neighborhood has a soundfront bike path that spans for miles along the water, which is a great place to walk, bike or jog, and this area is known for it's amazing sunsets. All you have to do is walk down the street and explore. You can even follow the path all the way to the Wright Brothers Monument. There's a breakfast place one block away, 2 coffee shops within 2 blocks and more shops and restaurants all within a short walk.

I live above the unit, so I'm happy to give recommendations for restaurants, activities, or help with anything you may need. While I do my best to be as quiet as I can, you may hear footsteps and the dogs barking from time to time.

PLEASE NOTE THE HOUSE RULES BEFORE BOOKING. There is 1 dog allowed with no pet fee. If you'd like to bring a 2nd dog, please request it, and based on age/breed/size, I might allow it. If so, there will be a pet fee.

There is only one queen bed in the room and not enough space on either side of the bed for additional sleeping space, so the max guests is limited to 2.

All of our neighbors look out for one another. A few of them are short term rentals hosts as well so you are surrounded by a great group of locals and it is extremely safe.

The home is extremely close to the ocean just minutes away to a public beach access with free parking :) We do recommend driving vs walking so you don't have to carry the beach gear we provide across a busier summer road. The ocean is just a few blocks away. There are two Airbnb apartments below yours that are completely separate.

Byrd street beach access in Kitty Hawk is less than a ten minute drive with plenty of parking. All shopping and dining options are within a short bike ride or drive. Centrally located, so it was super easy for us to use as a home base for site-seeing the wild horses on the beaches of Carolla, the Wright Brothers Monument, the beaches and restaurants in Nags Head, to the lighthouse in Cape Hatteras.
