“Rocky Meadows" is our home my husband and I now use for short term vacation rental. "Rocky Meadows" is close to 221 but has a feeling of seclusion. Sits on 3 acres, no other houses visible. There are two bedrooms, a queen-size bed in one and a bunk that has a full-size bottom bed with a twin in the upper. The great room was designed with family time in mind. The covered back deck has a patio table chairs and gas grill for outdoor entertaining. We have a full basement that is pretty much empty except for the washer and dryer. Designed and built by the owners this simple cabin utilizes many re-purposed materials. The floors are oak drawer fronts that were free and obtained from a cabinet shop that closed. The walls and ceilings are finished yellow pine, the window and door casings have Sweet Gum boards. All of these boards were cut off the property then dried and milled.

Grandfather Sights is a great vacation cabin with 3 levels of comfortable living space, an open floor plan, and a central location close to the major High Country attractions. Located just off Hwy 105 between Boone and Banner Elk, this home is close to hiking, zip-lining, fishing, rafting, snow tubing, skiing, and more. The home features delightful long-range views including straight-on views of the famous Grandfather Mountain.

The main living area has a stone fireplace with gas logs and a flat-screen TV and is open to the kitchen and dining areas. The home has wraparound decks, partly covered on the view side of the home, complete with rocking chairs and a propane grill. Upstairs, there is a spacious loft with comfortable seating. The lower level of the home has a game area with an air hockey table, a foosball table, and a flat-screen TV. This home has plenty of room for your group to enjoy being together in the mountains. Each bedroom, except for the bunk bedroom, now has a TV installed, a total of 5 in the home.

Our favorite spot at our property is the outdoor firepit area. We use it whenever the weather allows. Starting our morning with a cup of coffee and a fire; while enjoying our peek-a-boo views of Grandfather Mountain really makes us feel like we are on vacation. In the evening after a busy day at the slopes, snowtubing, riding the mountain coaster or hiking a new trail we love to snuggle up next to a fire and roast Marshmallows. It’s an excellent place for those who want to be away from town, but the location is centrally located to Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Grandfather Mountain and Sugar Mountain.

The space

Set off a quiet country road, you have the best of solitude and accessibility. Launch out for fun adventures and then retreat to your own private, beautiful space. This secluded spot is ideal for romance and rejuvenation, and does not work well for children.

Guest access
You have access to the entire space including an outdoor deck and patio.

Skiing is 8 miles to Appalachian Mountain, 10 miles to Sugar, and 18 to Beech.

- "Property is as advertised. Well stocked kitchen and bath. Super comfortable bed. Enjoyed sitting on the multiple decks. Deer walked bye while we enjoyed the firepit (supply your own firewood). Owner contact was super quick. As with many mountain properties, there steps up to the cabin from the driveway. Clean and well decorated. Was a relaxing stay. Super close to the Game Keeper Inn if you are looking for a nice dinner out." - "This location was convenient to Blowing Rock and Boone.
