“Rocky Meadows" is our home my husband and I now use for short term vacation rental. "Rocky Meadows" is close to 221 but has a feeling of seclusion. Sits on 3 acres, no other houses visible. There are two bedrooms, a queen-size bed in one and a bunk that has a full-size bottom bed with a twin in the upper. The great room was designed with family time in mind. The covered back deck has a patio table chairs and gas grill for outdoor entertaining. We have a full basement that is pretty much empty except for the washer and dryer. Designed and built by the owners this simple cabin utilizes many re-purposed materials. The floors are oak drawer fronts that were free and obtained from a cabinet shop that closed. The walls and ceilings are finished yellow pine, the window and door casings have Sweet Gum boards. All of these boards were cut off the property then dried and milled.

Grandfather Sights is a great vacation cabin with 3 levels of comfortable living space, an open floor plan, and a central location close to the major High Country attractions. Located just off Hwy 105 between Boone and Banner Elk, this home is close to hiking, zip-lining, fishing, rafting, snow tubing, skiing, and more. The home features delightful long-range views including straight-on views of the famous Grandfather Mountain.

The main living area has a stone fireplace with gas logs and a flat-screen TV and is open to the kitchen and dining areas. The home has wraparound decks, partly covered on the view side of the home, complete with rocking chairs and a propane grill. Upstairs, there is a spacious loft with comfortable seating. The lower level of the home has a game area with an air hockey table, a foosball table, and a flat-screen TV. This home has plenty of room for your group to enjoy being together in the mountains. Each bedroom, except for the bunk bedroom, now has a TV installed, a total of 5 in the home.

Our favorite spot at our property is the outdoor firepit area. We use it whenever the weather allows. Starting our morning with a cup of coffee and a fire; while enjoying our peek-a-boo views of Grandfather Mountain really makes us feel like we are on vacation. In the evening after a busy day at the slopes, snowtubing, riding the mountain coaster or hiking a new trail we love to snuggle up next to a fire and roast Marshmallows. Our 4 bedroom/ 3 bathroom home sits on the banks of the Watauga River. It has been completely renovated inside and outside with high-end finishes, featuring vaulted ceilings in the living area, a fully equipped gourmet kitchen, Brazilian Koa hardwood floors, and gas fireplace. Downstairs bedrooms include a Queen bed with adjacent bathroom, kids room with a bunk bed and trundle bed, with two bedrooms upstairs, one a king and one a queen.

All 3 bathrooms feature custom tiled showers, granite or marble vanities and premium fixtures. There are 2 bathrooms downstairs and one large bathroom upstairs with a full size washer and dryer.

An expansive covered deck was added to the back of the home along the river, with a large 8 person hot tub, a commercial grade hanging outdoor heater for year round outdoor living, a live edge bar overlooking the river, and wireless speakers. The kitchen and dining are each near the living room, along with a half bath. The kitchen has a La Cornue gas range and Thermador stainless steel appliances, granite counters, and a Keurig and Espresso maker to start your day. The main level bedroom has a queen sized bed and two pull out singles, along with a 65" smart TV, deck access, and private full bath with a tiled tub/shower and granite countertops (please note that the photos still show a king sleeper sofa, which has been removed to add the queen bed). The covered back deck has dining, seating, and a Solo Stove for an evening fire outside.

Upstairs is a King suite, also with a 65" smart TV, and a luxurious full bath. The oversized tiled shower has separate rooms to each side with a granite vanity and personal powder room. On the lower level, there is a king suite with a pull out single and a full bath with a large tiled shower and deck access. The washer and dryer are located on the lower level, near the entrance by the garage.

- "We enjoyed your property" - "Close to town and great decks." - "We enjoyed the stay but thought the photos made it look more light and airy. There was an overfilled garbage can adjacent to the garage with rotten garbage to the extent we could not park near it. The house was clean but very hot and humid when we arrived with only a floor space air conditioner that did not seem to get the house very cool. It gave the house a very stale or moldy smell that did bother our allergies. Sounds like a lot of criticism but those were not prohibitive for us enjoying our stay. I just described them so that the homeowner might want to alleviate some of those."
