The setting is very tranquil and private, nestled in a 10 acre compound with a bamboo grove and majestic oak and hickory trees providing shade and privacy. Lots of wildlife around including deer, foxes, rabbits, squirrels, and herons. The location is close to everything (grocery stores, restaurants, shopping, hospital, movies, etc) but it feels like you are in another world. Try to catch a bass or bluegill in the two acre pond, hike thru the bamboo trail or use the kayak or canoe over by the gazebo. The setting has to be seen to be believed. Up to two well behaved dogs are welcome.

The garage doors opening to a view of the lake really made this house extra special. I thought in the heat of the summer that it would either be too hot or too buggy. There were only a few very hot and humid days where I kept the doors shut, but the bugs were not a problem at all. The house is spacious and conducive to large gatherings. The beds were very comfortable. Note that only nimble people (i.e. kids) will be able to climb up to the loft beds! The four bedroom, two bath house features a great room with kitchen and dining area, hardwood floors, laundry room and carport. Two outbuildings from 1948 retain the old farm feel of this property originally owned by the late Woodrow and Frances Smith and their sons. High speed internet and streaming TV in the great room provide the opportunity to watch Netflix or any national network channel from comfortable sofas. Close to a Harris Teeter supermarket and many restaurants, the house is exceptionally quiet, even with the occasional soothing sounds of a passing train. During warm months, the owners have a self-service flower stand out front which sometimes features fresh vegetables. Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome. Comfortable beds and luxuriously soft sheets make this a home away from home, not to be missed! (Note that one bedroom must be walked through to enter the master bedroom/bath, unless you use the exterior door on deck to exit the master.) No cats, no smoking inside house.

I would just recommend fixing the exhaust fan and light over the stove because the whole house smelled like bacon after our breakfast! It would also be nice to be able to use the gas fireplace. The house is convenient to lots of stores, restaurants, parks, etc. Train goes by every few hours even overnight but it's short and not too loud and didn't bother us, We definitely recommend this house!"

The home is located in a nice neighborhood (never saw them -ha) and was safe and quiet. We only had one neighbor. We were on the corner near the road, but not a problem at all. There was a bike/walking trail which was nice for the cooler evenings. There are only two Tv's in the home (living and master room) (seems to be normal among the rentals we have stayed in), but we came prepared for that. The rooms are nice sizes, master very spacious. We had a couple minor hiccups while in the home, but owners were very responsive and easy to work with. The home is really nice. Overall great stay, would stay again in the future."

To ensure a smooth and enjoyable stay for all guests, please review and adhere to the following house rules. Violations will result in additional charges.

→ Unauthorized Guests: $500 per unauthorized guest.

→ Unauthorized Pets: $300 per unauthorized pet.

→ Smoking Violation: $500 fee for smoking inside the unit or in non-designated areas.

→ Misuse of Hot Tub (if applicable): $300 fee (e.g failure to follow usage guidelines, excessive debris, or damage).

→ Unauthorized Late Checkout: $300 fee if checkout extends beyond the designated time without prior approval.

→ Excessive Trash or Mess: $300 cleaning fee if the unit is left in an unsanitary or excessively messy condition.

→ Unauthorized Events, Gatherings, or Parties: $500 fee for hosting unapproved events.

→ We are a pet-friendly property! A non-refundable pet fee of $49 per stay applies, plus $19 per pet, per night to cover additional cleaning costs. Please ensure pets are well-behaved and do not cause damage to the property.

Minutes from Elon University, HWY 40/85, restaurants & shopping, our home is located on a quiet street and neighborhood. You'll have a private entrance to our In-law suite connected to the main home and parking on the driveway. The screened-in porch has seating for 6, private bedrooms, living room, full bath with a kitchenette located within it. Breakfast includes coffee, tea, and snacks. Our home is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers and families visiting Elon University. We are long time hosts on another platform, with a 4.9 out of 5.0 rating from 110+ guests.
