Our house is located in the mountains of the Lake Toxaway Estates Community. Lake Toxaway is the largest private lake in North Carolina, and situated in Transylvania County, the county with the most waterfalls in the U.S.!

Our five bedroom mountain home features three levels. It is newly decorated with two separate family rooms, both with fireplaces, large screen TVs, and their own decks. This provides the perfect escape for families, friends, or an intimate setting for two. The upstairs loft area also provides a relaxing getaway for reading, tv, or just hanging out.

We like to keep the number of guests in our home at six. The five bedrooms includes two master suites with king beds and adjoining private bathrooms on the main floor. In addition, there are three more bedrooms, and an additional two and half baths.

The main floor also has a bank of floor to ceiling windows with amazing views of the Western Carolina Mountains. This same view is also featured in the lower level. The kitchen is open to the living area and dining area.

With access to the lake, kayak and boat rentals, hiking, fishing, swimming in the lake and much more. A short ride outside of the Lake Toxaway community, you’ll find the delightful towns of Cashiers, Brevard, Sapphire, and the Highlands. In addition, it’s a 45 minute drive to Asheville with endless shops, resort areas, and cultural activities.

This is a 3-year-old custom-built home, beautifully furnished and created for your family's memories. It is located in Catatoga Club, a private gated community in Lake Toxaway, North Carolina.

This home sits on Lake Catatoga with canoes, paddleboards, a dock, fishing, swimming, and hiking trails all available, along with numerous waterfalls within steps from our back porch. While fishing is prohibited in the creeks, it is welcomed in the lake behind our home. We do have a few poles but you might want to bring your own as they get damaged regularly.

You will also have access to the Catatoga swim and tennis facilities, and hot tub during the summer months. For those seeking a peaceful and scenic relaxing mountain retreat, you will find plenty to savor in this breathtaking community.

This little cottage has been in our family for 5 generations. It was built in the 1880's and sat on a basement with modern amenities in 1949, then a deck was added in the early 2000's. In 2020 we remodeled the house, updated the wiring, and added wifi. In September 2023 we put split units both upstairs and down stairs adding heat and air condition. There is 1 bedroom, a dining room, living room and a full kitchen upstairs. The downstairs includes 2 bedrooms, 1 full bathroom and a laundry room. It is furnished with our own eclectic blend of family antiques and flea market finds. There is also a deck with grill upstairs off of the kitchen for easy outdoor meals. Downstairs there is a nice back patio with easy access to a very large back yard, great for families and pets to enjoy. The front porch is adorned with two rocking chairs which provide a wonderful place to enjoy a morning cup of coffee.
This cottage is conveniently located off the side of Blue Ridge Road. The area is scenic, being in the mountains. There are lots of golf courses, hiking (Panthertown Valley, Pisgah National Forest, Nantahala National Forest, Gorges State Park), fishing (French broad river, Whitewater, Wolf Creek Lake, East Fork, North Fork of the French Broad), and waterfalls (Toxaway Falls, Whitewatwr Falls, Rainbow Falls, Schoolhouse Falls) within a few minutes of the house. The Lake Toxaway community center, which offers fun Friday nights with food and live music during the warm months, is only a short distance away, and has Tennis courts, a large play ground, a basketball goal, and a paved walking track. The beautiful Greystone Inn, a popular wedding and dining venue is less than 15 minutes away.
Lake Toxaway is a friendly community which enjoys all four seasons. Cool mountain air is very pleasant during the summer months, and the gorgerous leaves during the fall will simply mesmerize you. Winter offers nice mountain weather and Sapphire Valley has snow tubing and skiing available. On most trails you can find Wildflowers growing in abundance during the spring. Area Attractions

The area is a hiker's paradise, with dozens of trails and waterfalls to explore within a 30-45 minute drive from the cabin! There's also nearby access to kayaking, canoeing, tubing, cycling, shopping & great restaurants.

A quick ten minute drive takes you to central Lake Toxaway, where you’ll find a nice selection of restaurants and activities.

Gorges State Park is only 15 minutes from the cabin, and offers many lovely hikes, waterfalls and scenic views to explore. We are also a 20 minute’s drive from Sapphire and 28 minutes from Cashiers.

Going the other direction, it takes 20 minutes to get to Brevard, a cute little town known for white squirrels and mountain biking, with lots of great breweries and restaurants to try out.

Driving a little further from Brevard takes you to the beautiful Pisgah National Forest. The Blue Ridge Parkway is about 40 minutes from the cabin via the lovely Parkway Road.

Or, take the day to explore Asheville, which is only an hour’s drive away.

Please note that the kitchen and living area are located on the ground floor, and there is one flight of stairs to access the bedrooms and bathroom on the second level. The spaces are cozy and carefully & lovingly designed to include everything you should need for a very comfortable stay with up to four people, but note that this is a fairly small cabin.

Access to the cabin is off of a short gravel road, with a fairly steep (but short) paved driveway and parking in a gravel area next to the cabin for two or three cars, with room to turn around (to avoid having to back down the driveway). Should be accessible to any type of vehicle, but is NOT suitable for trailers (not enough room to turn with a trailer).

You may lose cell service on the way to the cabin and in parts of the surrounding area but should have it at the cabin.

Must be 25 years or older to book and the person making the reservation must be present for the stay (no third-party bookings).

We love pets and are happy to welcome up to two furry friends for a flat fee of $30 (additional pets accepted on a case-by-case basis for an additional fee). Please inquire with information about your pets. We ask that you do not allow pets on beds or furniture (or bring protective blankets), and please pick up after them so all of our guests can have an enjoyable experience.

Please note that while we have regular pest control treatment performed at the cabin, the natural setting comes with the possibility of insects etc getting inside from time to time. Each day it was a short drive to the numerous falls, state parks and hiking trails we visited in the county and nearby. The house itself has a nice floor plan but a few minor adjustments would be a big improvement. The space
This efficiency is part of a solid cedar log home, set in the mountains of Lake Toxaway. It has it's own entrance and is cut off from the rest of the house, so you have all the privacy you could want.

We have wi-fi, but no TV. Basic cooking facilities.

The room is spacious (450 sq ft), with a double bed, sitting area and desk.

The weather is really nice here, so we have never needed air conditioning. We have great fans for the rare occasions that they are needed .
In the winter, we warm the house with a German wood stove that we imported when this house was build. Your space has it's own wood stove for heating. It has an attachable screen, if you want to leave it open for that "fireplace" feeling.

Bed linen and towels are provided.

The efficiency is part of our house, but with it's own entrance. You'll have to like steps, because as you can see from the photos, there are a few steep steps to reach your door.

We are home most of the time & available for any questions you might have

This is a very private place. You need never see us if that's your choice. There is no shared space other than the outdoors

We are about 3 miles away from the Lake and a little closer to the French Broad Headwaters, where there are various water activities available.

This is a rural area, and very very beautiful, surrounded by forests, lot's of waterfalls and hikes .

We are 12 miles away from Brevard and 14 miles away from Cashiers (the closest town)
Where we are, you cannot see any other houses...although they are close enough.

You will need your own car to get around.

There is a refrigerator. There is a hot plate, a crockpot & a small oven for your use.

Area Attractions:

The area is a hiker's paradise, with dozens of trails and waterfalls to explore within a 30-45 minute drive from the cabin! There's also nearby access to kayaking, canoeing, tubing, cycling, shopping & great restaurants.

A quick ten minute drive takes you to central Lake Toxaway, where you’ll find a nice selection of restaurants and activities.

Gorges State Park is only 15 minutes from the cabin, and offers many lovely hikes, waterfalls and scenic views to explore. We are also a 20 minute’s drive from Sapphire and 28 minutes from Cashiers.

Going the other direction, it takes 20 minutes to get to Brevard, a cute little town known for white squirrels and mountain biking, with lots of great breweries and restaurants to try out.

Driving a little further from Brevard takes you to the beautiful Pisgah National Forest. The Blue Ridge Parkway is about 40 minutes from the cabin in this direction via the lovely Parkway Road.

Or, take the day to explore Asheville, which is only an hour’s drive away.

Please note that the kitchen and living area are located on the ground floor, and there is one flight of stairs to access the bedrooms and bathroom on the second level. The spaces are cozy and carefully & lovingly designed to include everything you should need for a very comfortable stay with up to four people, but note that this is a fairly small cabin.

Access to the cabin is off of a short gravel road, with a fairly steep (but short) paved driveway and parking in a gravel area next to the cabin for two or three cars. Should be accessible to any type of vehicle, but is NOT suitable for trailers (there is room to turn around at the top with a vehicle but not with a trailer). Scroll towards the end of the listing photos to see the driveway.

You may lose cell service on the way to the cabin and in parts of the surrounding area but should have it at the cabin.

Must be 25 years or older to book and the person making the reservation must be present for the stay (no third party bookings).

We are happy to welcome up to two furry friends for a flat fee of $50 (additional pets accepted on a case-by-case basis for an additional fee). Please inquire with information about your pets. We ask that you do not allow pets on beds or furniture (unless you have pet blankets), and please pick up after them so all of our guests can have an enjoyable experience.

This listing is for couples and single travelers that want to save money while by staying at the smaller version of this property. No one else will be staying in the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms, they will be locked.

Comfort:
This cottage was built in the 1960s and it has a lot of rustic charm. This home is cooled by multiple portable AC units and ceiling fans. This combination keeps this home comfortable on the hottest days of the summer. So if you are used to central AC and keeping the home around 72 degrees you will be comfortable. For winter months, the home has central heating as well as access to space heaters in each bedroom. A wood burning fireplace is available in the living room for extra warmth and ambiance.🔥🔥Check in with me at the time of your stay to see if firewood is available (there is often extra firewood for guests). Also know that firewood can be purchased at local hardware stores, grocery stores and convenience stores.

Phones:
Cell phone service can be limited in this remote location depending on your provider. However, if you enable WiFi calling on your smartphone, you should be able to call and text from this location without any problems. A land line phone is also available for guests to use just in case.

The Lake:
The cottage is located on a small private lake named Blue Ridge Lake (it is not on the Lake Toxaway itself, don’t be confused because the address states it is in the community of “Lake Toxaway, NC.”)
This lake is spring-fed by a few neighboring mountain springs. While the lake has fish living in it, it is not always stocked for fishing. The water is not fast moving enough for mountain trout to breed, but my neighbor sometimes stocks the lake with trout. Other fish include carp, crappie, blue gill, and possibly some small bass. Guests are welcome to fish (catch and release).

Noise:
This vacation home is in a remote location, and is often very quiet which allows guests to hear the sounds of nature. There is a farm in this neighborhood so guests should expect to hear some distant noises from their horses, tractors, chickens, and dogs that often stay outside. There are occasional noises from our neighbors talking and working on their lawns/gardens.

Swimming:
This spring-fed lake stays cool all summer for those who want to swim, and the water in the central sections of the lake is good to swim in.
If you're interested in swimming, message me for instructions for a certain section of my shoreline that I firmed up with rocks so that it is good for entering the water (the shoreline is soft and murky in most places which is the downside of having huge beautiful trees that drop leaves near the shore). Also, If you are comfortable on a paddle board, you can also paddle out to the deep central sections of the lake so you can swim off the paddle board. Know that the water around the dock is not deep enough for swimming or diving, but the dock is great for launching the canoe, kayak, and paddle board. It is a very tranquil and beautiful little lake for boating and paddle boarding.

After you enjoy hiking, mountain biking, viewing the waterfalls, restaurants or breweries come back and relax in the hot tub and sauna, or take a bath in the claw foot tub or a rainfall shower. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to cook during your stay (salt, pepper, oil, pots, pans, baking sheets, cooking utensils). High speed wifi is available throughout the house. There is a desk and office chair, making this the perfect place to work from home and recharge. The sleeping areas have a king and 2 queen beds. Play board games in the living room or curl up on the couch and watch a movie on the projector with the surround sound speakers. The Roku has Netflix. Each room has a mini split heater/AC unit for your comfort.

Outdoor Spaces
In this remote area, there is such limited light pollution so the stars here are incredible. There are many outdoor spaces to take advantage of the beauty while here. We have one covered deck leading to a large open deck, both have string lights and seating. The covered deck has a propane fire pit and is great for cooler evenings, while the open deck has a picnic table for enjoying meals. The back yard features a fire pit with Adirondack chairs. Following the path down takes you to the cedar sauna and cedar hot tub. Both are incredible to enjoy in the early mornings or evenings to warm up from the chill. It is a private area, covered in Rhododendron trees and shielded from our distant neighbors and the road.

Other things to note
The home is on a natural spring water system. I’ve never had an issue with having enough water for daily use. However, large groups with long showers and baths may deplete the water supply. Please be conscious of the water you are using. The spring water is potable and full of wonderful minerals, but if this is not for you, please bring your own drinking water. We are also on a septic system, so please be sure not to put any oil/fat down the drain, and only toilet paper in the toilets (sanitary items, etc. in trash please). We are pet friendly but please be considerate and pick up after them, try to wipe any muddy paws before they enter.

Located in Lake Toxaway, NC, the condo overlooks the 240' waterfall, part of which is located within Gorges State Park. The condo has a King master bedroom with en suite bathroom, a Full bedroom and a twin bedroom, both sharing the 2nd bathroom.
The condo is centrally located between Brevard to the East and Cashiers/Highlands to the West where there are numerous breweries as well as hiking and cycling in the Pisgah National Forest and Gorgers State Park. Restaurant within walking distance.

You can go to the lower level via a spiral staircase to the King Bedroom, Queen Bedroom, and a full bath. The lower level also has a full-sized washer and dryer.

In general, living in the mountains is a peaceful and serene experience. It’s secluded and out of the way of everyday traffic. However, we also experience more inconveniences than that of city dwellers. Please be aware:

IT'S A FOREST
Our cottage is treated for pests, but understand you are in the woods. The occasional spider or stink bug may be present, and we do not consider them an infestation or an indication that our home is "dirty".

TOWELS: we provide four bath towels, four washcloths, four hand towels, one roll of toilet paper per bathroom, one roll of paper towels per bathroom, and 1 roll of paper towels in the kitchen along with dish towels. We also provide a washer and dryer. If you think you’ll need more, please consider bringing some extras.

WIFI:
We now have a fiber-optic line that has improved our internet outages, but it is still subject to go out.

POWER OUTAGES:
Power outages are common in the mountains.
We often embrace the outage as a way to disconnect and be more fully present in the moment!

TRASH:
Our cleaning service does not include trash removal, and we cannot have unsavory garbage sitting in the house or left outside, attracting bears and critters. Formal trash pickup isn’t available in our area. Please take your garbage with you. If you decide to book, we provide details on local facilities where you can take your garbage. Any garbage left at the home will be an extra charge billed back to you.

Asheville airport is only 50 minutes away. Pickleball, golf, fly fishing, waterfall hiking, whiteside mountain, amazing restaurants, great shopping, and tubbing down the river all very close and we can help you set the reservations for them, if needed. Fun for travels with friends and family. Their is 3 spaces for people to sleep in the beautiful cedar wood tiny home which has a waterfall shower in it. And in the house cabin, there is 4 beds to sleep There is an adorable tiny home all made of beautiful wood and a frame that lets the sun in beautifully and is surrounded by green lush trees. In the morning the sweetest birds will sing for you everyday. You will feel at peace. Not kidding. Right outside you will see a lovely pool of water and working on possibly having a Jacuzzi. Wolf Ridge Retreat is located at an elevation of almost 3300 feet and borders the Pisgah National Forest in the Lake Toxaway Community. We are near Cashiers, Highlands, Brevard and Asheville and a short drive from the Blue Ridge Parkway. This comfortable home is near Gorges State Park, Whitewater Falls, Panthertown and many other waterfalls and hiking trails. This quiet, peaceful retreat is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the mountains in the Land of the Waterfalls!

There are three comfortable bedrooms, bright and open kitchen, a game room overlooking the forest with lots of games, books and a foosball table, a cosy living room with gas fireplace, two work stations (desk off the living room and a small built in desk in the kitchen), covered porch with rocking chairs and deck with outdoor eating table and gas grill overlooking forest. There is a whole house generator in case the power goes out.

This cozy apartment is 1 of 3 in our Sunrise Cottage. Recently updated, this is the original farmhouse on property and offers a unique retreat in the mountains of Western NC. This ground floor unit has its own entrance, with access to the covered front porch of the cottage. The room offers a kitchenette w/ sink, microwave and mini-fridge, private bathroom, and gas fireplace. It sleeps up to 4 people, w/ one queen bed and one full-sized futon. Perfect for mountain biking or fly fishing getaways!

The space
We’re nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, with 76 acres of forest and fields, right on the border of Pisgah National Forest. Your stay includes access to our private hiking trails and fire pits, and is within driving distance of Gorges State Park, Dupont State Park, and of course Pisgah. A perfect basecamp for fishing trips, mountain bike expeditions, or hiking adventures.

Staying with us also gives you quick access to the one-of-a-kind activities we have available on-site, like llama hikes, hands-on blacksmithing programs, archery and tomahawk throwing, creek walks, and so much more.

This is a refurbished farmhouse and, as such, is quaint and has its own quirks.

The rest of the time we offer hand-crafted experiences to individuals, couples, and families looking for unparalleled relaxation and recreation. Guest access
As our guest, you will have full access to the property, including our private hiking trails, featuring 76 acres of forest and fields, tranquil streams, natural stone outcrops, and a stunning variety of local flora and fauna. You’re welcome to build a crackling campfire in one of our several fire-pits, relax in our hammocks, or fish in our small pond (catch and release).

Earthshine Lodge also offers a variety of unique programming, such as guided llama hikes, blacksmithing workshops, archery and tomahawk experiences, nature walks, and more.

If you’re craving more outdoor adventure, we're within close driving distance to DuPont Forest, Gorges State Park, Pisgah National Forest and the Nantahala National Forest. We’re more than happy to recommend our favorite waterfall hikes, climbing or fishing guides, places to paddle, or the best local breweries nearby.

Other things to note
While the Sunrise Cottage is pet friendly, we do ask that dogs be leashed while hiking and walking around the property. We love animals, and hope to avoid stressing local wildlife or our resident llamas!

You are welcome to visit our llama ladies down at the barn for a quick selfie, but please refrain from entering their enclosure or opening any gates, and please don’t feed them (lots of the local plants can cause llamas serious harm)! Also remember llama mamas are very protective of their young ones, so being quiet and respectful is important!

You can access the magical Lake Toxaway through the Lake Toxaway Marina! Our rentals offer the perfect opportunity to take in the breath-taking views and explore the lake with pontoon or fishing boats. Not only is it a great place to soak up the sun, but there are also several playgrounds in the area for the kiddos to have a fun-filled day of adventure. Other things to note
While we have access to the lake via the Toxaway marina, we don't have access to the swimming pool, tennis courts or golf course.

The driveway is gravel and is relatively steep at the top. BE SURE AND KEEP MOMENTUM WHILE DRIVING UP THE DRIVEWAY.

Landscaping: We do have a landscaping crew that comes every other week. We will do our best to communicate their schedule with our guests, but be aware that they may come while you're at the property.

Located 3 miles from Sapphire and close to Highlands, Cashiers and Brevard - known as the land of waterfalls with 250 within Transylvania County alone. Great restaurants, wineries & shopping along with hiking, biking, golf - skiing in winter are close. Biltmore Estate is 35 miles away.

known as the "Land Of Waterfalls" Transylvania County is home to more than 250 waterfalls, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Pisgah National Forest, the DuPont State Forest and Gorges Park. Toxaway Riversong Hideaway was completely renovated in April of 2019 and features all new bathrooms, flooring, an updated kitchen, even down to the furniture, mattresses and bedding, a wine cooler and bar have been added to help you enjoy an inviting open floor plan that features a large Living Room and kitchen, with windows that look out into the trees and Toxaway Falls. The unit is located on the ground floor of the building, making it easy to get in and out.

The kitchen is fully equipped, including coffee pot, Breville coffee maker (uses K-Cups) toaster, blender, microwave, dinnerware, flatware, cooking utensils and service ware.
There is a toasty fire pit on the balcony and community pool at no charge for guests.
