Talked with front desk and they were very nice, tried to help best they could but no other rooms were available. It was 12:30 by the time we figured out nothing else was possible. When looked out window there was a light from the building with tons of those bugs and the window screen was apparently broken but someone had duct taped it. We had to open the window because we were in the 5th floor and there is no ac and it was hot. We ended up closing it and felt with the heat. When we woke I checked the window and now there were tons of flies against it, some now getting in even with the window shut. We packed up and went to front to check out early and cancel our stay for the next 2 nights. Since the reservation was not through them but a 3rd party there was nothing they could do. The manager was super nice and stated she wouldn’t have wanted to stay in a room with bugs either. I then had to figure out how to contact redawning. I did contact them and they said they will confirm things with the manager and then refund the money. It’s been several days and no refund! "

We got back to the room to shower for dinner and there was no hot water. When I spoke with the front desk I was told, "Best information that I have is that the water won't be hot for hours." No apology. No offer to compensate guests. We waited, checking the water until 10:30 p.m. and gave up. We did not have hot water until the next day. Very disappointed, as this used to be my favorite hotel in Crested Butte because my kids loved the pool. Stay somewhere else."

When we had issues with parking, the management was extremely accommodating. Kudos to them. The closet doors were broken, the outdoor screens were broken, the freezer door would fly open when we closed the fridge door. No elevators so we had trek all our stuff from the parking lot up a hill & staircases. Very noisy since there was no soundproofing in the ceiling. It sounded like elephants were tromping above. The entry way door lock was sticking. The dishwasher door didn’t open all the way. The finish on the deck was peeling. Our car was yellow stickered to tow away even though we had a parking pass from the lodge. The images in the booking didn’t match the unit. All in all beware, I know that I would never stay in that unit again as it needs lots of TLC."

This sunny one-bedroom, one-bath garage apartment is situated in the Skyland area, only two miles south of Crested Butte, and a stone's throw away from the golf course! You can comfortably sleep 4. The neighborhood is calm and peaceful, and the views are drop-dead gorgeous! Mt. Crested Butte towers overhead, Whetstone is in the distance along with Paradise Divide.

The space
Hop on your bike and hit one of the many famous mountain biking trails right out of the door! Float the Slate River (floating season is June-July)! There is also plenty of hiking in the area.

The apartment is located up the stairs in the garage. The bedroom has a queen-sized bed and a roomy closet. There is a full-sized kitchen with appliances and a table that can be propped up or down to provide ample space. There is a large couch for hanging out on in the living room. Kick back and enjoy your streaming services on the brand-new smart TV, featuring Apple TV! Enjoy your cup of coffee or favorite beverage on the small deck looking down the valley to enjoy all the beautiful views. The loft is small but features a queen-size mattress for extra guests.

Feel free to use the garage to store your ski/bike gear in the winter and summer months. There is also a washer and dryer in the garage you can use. Guests will have access to the main entryway to the home where you can leave shoes and other items.

There is room for a small SUV inside of the garage, where you can also store your winter or summer gear. You can also find an additional washer and dryer. The driveway fits four vehicles.

PROS AND CONS OF THE GRAND LODGE

While we love our studio unit and believe it offers the perfect blend of ideal location, price point, and warmth, there are a few things to consider:

1. First Floor Unit: While we love skipping the busy elevator and being close to the front desk, we have found that the first floor is very polarizing. Some love the convenience, some hate being at ground level.

2. Building Age: While we've updated our condo to provide a more modern style, the building itself may feel dated. As a 3-star hotel, the Grand Lodge offers exceptional convenience and comfort but may not provide the luxury amenities of a 5-star hotel.

3. No Air Conditioning: This high-altitude mountain town has a cool climate, so air conditioning is not provided. However, during the summer months, multiple ceiling fans and additional fans are available to keep you as cool as possible.

4. Management Oversight: A management company oversees the building and amenities, which may make last-minute decisions beyond our control, such as closing an amenity without notice. Please note, if any of the amenities are not operational during your stay, we will not offer a refund as we don't have control over the amenities.

5. Potential Odors: Some guests have mentioned that smells can carry through the building. While we have not experienced this ourselves, we provide Glade air fresheners in the apartment just in case.

Guests have access to the condo and Grand Lodge amenities. The Grand Lodge has a pool, hot tub, gym, steam room, free parking, (guests are given one parking pass per room), and is in the perfect location in Mt. Crested Butte.

Nice, clean one-bedroom one-bathroom condo perfect for the couple's getaway. Conveniently located within walking distance from the West Wall lift. Spend your days on the slopes or exploring the beautiful mountains that surround you. Come in at night ready to relax by the fire. You will need to get your own firewood for inside the condo. The elevator makes it easy for your tired legs and arms. You can sit and relax by the gas fireplace in the lobby while you wait for your friends or the shuttle to come.

There is a fireplace inside that you can use. You will need to buy your own wood. (This is a condo complex with neighbors close; above, beside, and below you. Quiet hours are much appreciated and while everyone tries to observe this when small children are vacationing they can't always be quiet.)

NEW 12/06/2023--Welcome to the Rustic Retreat! Once inside this condo, you will feel like you are in a mountain cabin tucked away in privacy where you can let your imagination run wild about your grand adventures in the wild. In reality, you're just a short walk to ski the mountain. Inside the condo, you will find a completely remodeled log cabin-styled home, a well-equipped kitchen, high-speed wifi, cable TV, and a gas fireplace. On-site are two large hot tubs and a BBQ grill shared by the complex. We are a one-minute walk to the slopes and Mountaineer Square—then a free 10-minute bus ride to the town of Crested Butte! 

The first bedroom with a queen bed is next to the living room/kitchen (where the washer and dryer are tucked away in a closet). The full bathroom is available for all to share on this level. Upstairs you’ll find two open loft-like bedrooms. The first space has a queen bed and futon. This space has a full bathroom for all to share. The next space has a bunk bed.

The entire condominium plus all building amenities--two parking lots, two hot tubs, and a grilling deck are for your enjoyment!

Pets: The HOA strictly prohibits guests from bringing pets owners are allowed pets. Service animals are always welcome. Please do not try to pass your pets off as service animals. Real service animals are vital for their person they help and we need to protect them.
