Complete with new appliances, cozy furnishings and amenities, you'll have everything you need for the perfect relaxing getaway.

Our Lake House features three large bedrooms complete with fresh linens and comfy mattresses guaranteed to provide a relaxing night's sleep. Two of the bedrooms have their own ensuite and the third bathroom is located on the main floor. All are meticulously cleaned and supplied with tasteful soaps from a local store, Cottage North that you will find in downtown Port Dover.

All throughout the house you'll find a number of carefully crafted social gathering spots.

The main living area has big beautiful windows with unobstructed views of the lake. You'll find yourself getting cozy on the couches made for two or hanging out at the oversized dinner table playing cards, or board games while taking in views of the water.

Then during the summer nights you'll find yourself gathering on the upstairs covered deck, relaxing on the outdoor furniture, watching the gorgeous colours of the sky changing right before your eyes.

The kitchen, complete with organic white quartz counter tops includes everything you would need to make your favourite meal for the family.

When not enjoying the inside of the home, you can roast marshmallows on the outdoor gas fire pit that overlooks the lake (during the winter as well), or during the spring, summer and fall you can take the steps down to the water, and enjoy 85 ft of lakefront on our large concrete pad.

- "My family of 7 seniors gathered from across Canada for a 5 day holiday. This property was perfect! 4bedrooms and 3 bathrooms were just what we needed! The only thing we wished had been available was access to the Blue Jay games on t.v. That was disappointing. We felt that the stairs on the back deck could have been better outlined as our most senior family member didn’t see the edge of the top stair and he took a tumble. Luckily he was not seriously hurt."

Our kids loved the bedroom nook and although it’s not a big suite, it was spacious enough to not feel cramped and gave space for everyone. Easy communication with host and no issues at check in or check out. Would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in the area; just watch your head in the doorways!" - "This place would be fine for 2 adults and 2 kids, but it is too small for 4 adults. The second bedroom has a doorway that is no more than 2 feet wide and about 5 feet tall. The ceilings were very low and adults cannot stand up in it. The bathroom is similarly very very short. Getting here is a breeze. We’re located only 2 hours from downtown Toronto (50 minutes from Hamilton), making us the ideal place for an easy getaway. We recommend coming by car, but if you’re feeling adventurous, you can arrive by bike if you hit the trails from Hamilton to Brantford to Port Dover.

Once here, you can ditch your car and take advantage of how walkable our location is to the strip and the beach. But for errands or touring around the countryside, you’ll want to use your car or take advantage of the taxi and car-sharing services.

The Swell House is a unique 100-year-old historic home, and with all its charm and age may come some quirks, creaks, and noises.

Please remember you are staying in a house, not a hotel. Please treat the space and neighbours with respect. If any problems arise, we will do our best to take action ASAP, but there is no one living on-site 24/7.

No unapproved guests or parties. This is a ZERO tolerance policy; if broken, you will be asked to leave. There is a security camera on-site, and we are able to see if people outside your group are visiting the home. This will result in an IMMEDIATE cancellation of your reservation with NO refund.

Noise Policy: Noise level MUST BE MINIMAL after 10 PM. There is a noise level city ordinance, and we can’t have any complaints. Violation of the noise/party rule will result in the police being called, termination of your reservation, and the security deposit retained. It is super important that we respect the peace of the community.

Because of the beautiful new flooring, we ask that you do not wear shoes throughout the house.

It is only 5-10 minute walk to the beach and just around the corner from the Lynn Valley trail that goes all the way to Brantford. Natural beauty in the yard and in the Silver Lake Park. In the morning, it is a delight to sit and listen to the birds. I have been teaching yoga for over 20 years and have classes on a regular basis. You are welcome to join the classes, no extra cost. I am also a certified aromatherapist, you have enjoy rejuvenating sessions for only $85 per session.

Focused on family, we have provided you everything you need to make memories at the beach and make entertaining while away easy including toys, books, games and crafts! Leave the car at the cottage, pack up our chairs and beach toys in the provided wagon and stroll to the beach for your fulfilled day!

Our open concept main floor is home to our fully stocked kitchen and dining room with space to seat 6 guests along with our comfy living room equipped a pull out sofa and HD TV and Netflix ready TV.

Off the main living space, you will find our favourite spot to relax (and sleep), the 3 season sunroom! Furnished with another dining table and two daybeds, it is the perfect place to relax and hang out with friends and family in the warmer months. Please note, the fireplace is decorative only.

You will also find our main floor bedroom furnished with a Queen bed and dresser along with one of two, 3 piece bathrooms - our second full bathroom is on the upper level.

Upstairs, you will find our fabulous kid room with a double/twin bunk and our master bedroom completed with luxurious king bed and INCREDIBLE lake views. Seriously, the best place in the cottage to "perch" yourself and enjoy your complimentary morning cup of coffee.

Need some extra space for your family to hang out and relax? Our basement rec room is the perfect solution complete comfy couches and a flat screen, netflix ready TV.

Whether the sun is shining or it’s raining outside, the large comfy sectional in this peaceful space will tempt you to either cuddle, read a book or take a nap (…in our opinion, why choose? You’re on vacation, right?! Do all three).

Additionally, you’ll love spending time relaxing here because of the gorgeous hardwood floors and the bright open feeling you get from the height of the 10ft ceilings.

Staying with us in the cooler months? You’ll love that this room also has a gas fireplace with all the nostalgia of the good ‘ole days, perfect for spending nights tucked up by the fire with a hot cocoa, a movie or even better yet, some slow jams and whatever else comes to mind.

A home this charming with over 100 years of history in such a quaint town needed to be restored with care, and that’s what you’ll see from the moment you arrive. The home's bright white exterior, neatly kept grounds, and a beachy resort-style backyard oasis are everything you’d want in a cottage-chic getaway.

In the backyard, you’ll find a fantastic deck with ample seating for outdoor dining and a bbq for honing your skills as a grill master. But the real piece de resistance is the beautiful sandy and treed oasis we’ve created with an outdoor shower, lounge chairs, and a hammock for naps under the trees.

If you’re a writer, artist or the creative type, you’ll love sitting out here, under the trees with your favourite drink, to dream up your next masterpiece or to let the kids play while you do a little imagining of your own.

No unapproved guests or parties. This is a ZERO tolerance policy; if broken, you will be asked to leave. There is a security camera on-site, and we are able to see if people outside your group are visiting the home. This will result in an IMMEDIATE cancellation of your reservation with NO refund.

Noise Policy: Noise level MUST BE MINIMAL after 10 PM. There is a noise level city ordinance, and we can’t have any complaints. Violation of the noise/party rule will result in the police being called, termination of your reservation, and the security deposit retained. It is super important that we respect the peace of the community.

Because of the beautiful hardwood flooring, we ask that you do not wear shoes throughout the house.

The property is not suitable for pets

One of two custom cottages finished in 2023, with the essence of a tiny house but with more space! Walk into the open-concept living room, dining room, and kitchen where you will find the TV and fireplace. The back of the cottage has a bedroom and bathroom, and access to the backyard and deck.

The yard space is ample and fully fenced-in. We are pet-friendly, you are more than welcome to bring your furry friend!

The kitchen has tons of supplies for cooking. We suggest take-out or visiting one of the many excellent restaurants too! If you are cooking, the stovetop is electric, and we provide plenty of pots, pans, and utensils. Please note there is NO OVEN and NO DISHWASHER. (You will be ok! ;) ) We provide dish towels and tea towels, coffee and tea. The coffee maker is a 12-cup drip coffee maker and we provide filters for it as well.

The bathroom has a beautifully tiled shower with a Moen shower head that can switch function from rain, to massage. The water is on-demand hot water so it won't run out! We provide 4 towels.
This cottage is on the same property and next door to another one very similar- The Ivory Cottage- (click on my profile to find it). Each cottage has its parking, yard space, BBQ, and patios, nothing is shared. But if you want to share you can rent them with friends and it is easy to go from one to the other to hang out.
There is a 1900s brick house also on the property, which is currently unoccupied.

Port Dover Beach is super close, only a 15-minute walk away, and we provide a folding wagon for you to use for your supplies! There is so much to do and experience in Port Dover. The beer store and LCBO are also within walking distance.

The neighbour has friendly dogs but their yard is not fenced so sometimes the dogs visit when guests are arriving and outside of the fenced yard. The dogs have always been ok with people and other dogs, but as dog owners, we know that sometimes this info is needed depending on your dog (or your humans!).

The brick house on the property is not for guests and is not currently being rented.

The cottage does not have a washer or dryer.
The cottage does not have an oven or dishwasher (it does have a stovetop and BBQ).

Welcome to your tranquil retreat! Guests enjoy our location on a quiet street. The deck overlooks a peaceful green space with a pond and a variety of wildlife. Guests have a suite downstairs, in addition to the main floor. It is a 5 minute drive to the beach, restaurants, Lighthouse Theatre, live music, and the pier. Norfolk County has 15 wineries/breweries, several beaches, a zip line, and 3 Provincial Parks. Our home is a haven from the hustle and bustle of our busy summer beach town!

The space
The spacious guest suite is in the lower level of the home. There is a large bedroom, living room with a 58" TV and a bathroom with a shower. GUESTS & RESERVATION POLICY:

All guests, including pets and infants, must be included in the reservation. Any additions may incur additional fees or could be refused upon arrival.
Due to the downstairs unit, no running is allowed inside the house.
For safety reasons, no infants under 2 years old are permitted.

QUIET ENJOYMENT:

Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Please maintain a peaceful environment during these times, especially in the bedrooms, as a tenant resides in the basement.
Disruptive noise and loud walking are prohibited to ensure a comfortable stay for everyone.

RESPECT FOR THE HOME:

Please treat this house as if it were your own.
Parties or events are strictly prohibited.
