We went to the front desk later on to ask a few questions about parking our truck with kayaks in the back in the other side of the hotel and the afternoon shift lady was not as friendly or accomodating. Lake front cottage with amazing sandy private beach. This renovated original cottage is one of a kind! A perfect get away that is still in town. This is an adults only property. This home is fully equipped with everything you should need to have an enjoyable stay. The cottage has many comfy spaces to enjoy inside and out. Two bedrooms, one on the main floor with the sound of waves crashing and one downstairs in the bomb shelter for those who like a quiet sleep. A fully equipped eat in kitchen. There is a south side covered patio and bbq for outside meals. A bright and breezy work space, a laid back reading spot, it has it all! There is a storage space for bikes or any sporting equipment you may have. There are many different levels to the cottage and property so those who are not good with stairs this may not be the place for you. This original cottage has been renovated but still has an issue with water pressure, you cant do laundry and shower at the same time. However the water pressure is amazing when you dive into the lake. The a/c is not central air, we have window units and fans for blazing hot days but windows open with the lake breeze is the best way to enjoy the peaceful sounds of the waves. There are kayaks a paddleboard, floats and other beach items and games that you are free to use. The cottage is walking distance to a great grocery store, liquor store, bank, barber, MnM meats for your convenience.
We are located 10 minutes from the Bluewater Bridge to Michigan and downtown Sarnia. Within a 5 minute walk there is an LCBO, MnM Meats, Sunripe grocery store, variety store, bank and restaurant. The Howard Watson bike trails are close by and go for miles.

- Only those listed on the reservation confirmation may stay.
- Please stay in designated right side of the driveway as the owner or other guests use the left side.
- Anything damaged or not working please let me know as soon as possible.
- Please keep cottage locked when you are at the beach. Do not leave any valuables on the beach unattended. This is a private beach but it is close to the public access and anyone has the right to walk the beach. Owner will not be liable for lost or missing items.
- Guests must bring in floats from the water and move chairs away from the shoreline at night. A calm day can change quickly, anything left too close to the waters edge will be gone.
- Guests understand that the cottage is 1 of 2 residences on this property and the beach is shared. The main residence is occupied by the owner.
- Quiet hours are 10pm til 8am. Remember sound carries very well over water.
- Trash bags may not be left outside as there are many critters around. Please put all trash bags in the blue bin at the end of the driveway. Recycles need to be in the blue boxes provided.
- Small beach fires are allowed weather and wind permitting. Guests must not leave fire unattended. Be mindful of smoke as everyone loves to have the windows open to listen to the lake.
- No offensive music or language at any time.
- By booking this property you acknowledge that you have read and agree to abide by all rules and requests of the owner.
- Owner has the right to revoke tenancy at any time without refund for guests that do not respect the rules.

- "Great weekend away for our family. Walking distance to grocery stores, restaurants, water. Due to heavy rainfall there was no beach access in walking distance (high waters, no sand) but hosts were very helpful in providing information for a beach close by. We also went on a short drive to the “children’s animal farm” which was a nice outing. The home had everything we needed. Loved that there was lots of additional bedding and fresh white towels, as well as beach towels available for use. Only negative was there were a few skunks in the backyard later at night. We also briefly saw a possum and raccoon so as long as your okay with a bit of extra wildlife you’ll be fine. Would consider booking again."

Q: How far is the beach away from your rental?
A: The best beach in town - Canatara Park and Beach - is 4 km away (7 minutes by car). Everything at Canatara Park and Beach is public and free to use, incl. parking. Super nice sandy beach and the refreshing blue waters of Lake Huron are inviting you to spend the day here. Food truck at the West end of the paved parking (seasonally). We recommend to bring your own beach gear (beach towel/blanket, umbrella, games, etc).

Q: How far is Downtown Sarnia away from your rental?
A: The listing is right at the edge of Downtown Sarnia, meaning a short walk (750 metres, 10 minute walk) where the downtown core with all restaurants and entertainment is located.

Q: Is your rental in a noisy location?
A: No, not really. The house is located at the edge of Downtown Sarnia in a quiet residential neighbourhood. To the West side of the building is main road (VIdal Street), however the house is constructed in a way (triple thick brick walls and insulation) so that almost no noise enters the house. Also, Sarnia is a small city which means that in the late evening (after 10pm) and at night the traffic almost completely dies off and you won't be disturbed by traffic noises.

Q: I'm an out-of-town worker for the plants. Do you offer long-term stays?
A: Yes, we do offer short-, medium- and long-term stays. The house is very conveniently located to get to and from the plants (near Vidal and Brock St.). Please contact us for specials rates. No taxes for stays longer than 30 days.

Q: I want to book this house for my employees, however I heard third-party bookings are not allowed. How can I still do this?
A: Yes we can accommodate your employees, please clearly indicate your intention to book for someone else.

Q: How large is this apartment?
A: Guests have access to about 740 sq ft of the house. Room heights are between 7 feet. Very generous large rooms.

Q: I booked for 4 guests, but by surprise 13 more friends showed up and had no place to stay for the night. What should I do?
A: Please contact the hosts Robert and Ellan immediately. We do not allow any non-registered guest in our rental for what-ever reason.

Q: Is winter maintenance provided?
A: Yes, for snowfall exceeding two (2) inches the snow is removed from on our property. The public roadways (i.e. streets/alleys) are cleared by the City of Sarnia. At the main entrance we also provide a snow shovel and melting salt for in between snow clearing by guests.

Q: How good is your internet?
A: We have reliable WiFi throughout the apartment. WiFi password is posted on the information sheets throughout the house (hint: use QR code for access)

Q: What kind of taxes do you charge? Are there any exemptions?
A: We are obligated to charge the following taxes: 13% HST on stays 30 days and less PLUS 4% MAT (Sarnia) on stays 30 days and less.

Q: Do you offer discounts?
A: We do believe that our prices are fair for what we offer. Therefore we do not offer additional discounts. We do have discounts for long-term stays: Please keep in mind if you stay at least 31 days you will also save both taxes: 13% HST and 4% MAT!

Q: Are you offering stays less than 30 days?
A: Yes, we are legally licenced Short-Term Accommodation in the City of Sarnia. Licence No. LSA-034

Q: I received a notice for a $500 deposit and I'm asked for my credit card - is this legit? 💳
A: Yes, we are using a professional hosting software and we are putting a hold of $500 on your credit card, similar to a hotel room stay. Given the large size of the house and amenities provided we ask for a $500 deposit. Note: this hold is collected by the credit card processor STRIPE and on behalf of STAYINSARNIA. The hold will be released after 7 days.

Q: Does anyone else lives on premise?
A: Yes, The owners Robert & Ellan live upstairs and are usually available to be available to greet you. You will be notified if they need access to the apartment during your stay for any reason. On the same floor with you is another unit that might be occupied during your stay. Shared spaces are: front yard, driveway, on premise parking, basement entrace, staircase, landing, laundry room. Owner’s private spaces are (access can be arranged): backyard, pool, hot tub, BBQ. Off limit areas: private residence of owner (main floor, 2nd and 3rd floor). NOTE: we have young kids and a friendly dog ("Noah"), so you might hear us walking upstairs, however we try our best to be quiet and respectful as possible.

*PLEASE NOTE*: Garbage collection day is Monday, hence access to the house is needed to set garbage and recycling out on Sunday or early Monday. Housekeeping will arrive at 11am check-out time unless other arrangements are made at the time of booking or with enough advance notice. Sarnia has much to offer from boating to golf to theatre and much more. Visit Tourism Sarnia-Lambton's website for all kinds of info and pictures. We also have a beautiful state of the art theatre attached to the Lambton Mall with fantastic sound and screen. From May 1 to October 31 you can park on city streets in Sarnia overnight just be sure you're on my side of the street (the other side is no parking) the rest of the year you can't park on the street from 2am until 5:30am.

For security I have motion sensitive camera's on the front & back porches and on the front and rear doors of the house. This protects cars parked in front of the house and of course monitors access to the house.

If you smoke I need to know that in your request to book. If you smoke and do not inform me ahead of time you may be asked to leave with no refund, so do be upfront.

I do ask that if you're eating in the living room you take great care not to spill on my new couches as they won't soon be replaced.

I'm easy to reach, I have the airbnb app on my phone and so your questions will reach me easily. If I'm home while you're around don't hesitate to look me up in person, I'm rarely unavailable!

Sarnia has much to offer from boating to golf to theatre and much more. Visit Tourism Sarnia-Lambton's website for all kinds of info and pictures. We also have a beautiful state of the art theatre attached to the Lambton Mall with fantastic sound and screen. From May 1 to November 31 you can park on city streets in Sarnia overnight just be sure you're on my side of the street (the other side is no parking) the rest of the year you can't park on the street from 2am until 5:30am.

For security I have motion sensitive camera's on the front porch and on the front and rear doors of the house. This protects cars parked in front of the house and of course monitors access to the house.

If you smoke I need to know that in your request to book. If you smoke and do not inform me ahead of time you may be asked to leave with no refund, so do be upfront.
