Everything in town is only a 5-10 min car ride so you can easily participate in an event, take in a hockey game at one of our local arenas, catch a live performance at the theater, join a class/seminar at the college, or enjoy some "ship spotting" under the Bluewater Bridge.
Helpful Hint - while under the Bridge, be sure to get some world famous fries or chillaxe with an ice cream.

If you prefer to walk on your adventure, only a couple blocks away you will find a variety store or the hospital, a short 15 min walk in the other direction, you will find Northgate Plaza. This plaza offers a drug store (Shoppers), restaurants/bars, pizza places, shopping and banks.
There is a bus stop located at the end of the street and many local taxi companies, if you don't drive. Sarnia is located approx. 1 hour from Detroit and about two and a half hours from Toronto. Sarnia does have an airport and a train station - be sure to check with them directly for service times and availability.
The bathroom features a stand up shower - Please be advised, there is not a full bathtub in this space.
There are 5 stairs to access the basement apartment. The stairs are covered and enclosed for your safety.

Walk less less than 10 minutes (2 minute drive) to waterfront parks and charming downtown cafe's, pubs, restaurants, and shops. Down the street (450 m) from Davis Craft Kitchen and Bar, a Refined Fool brewery restaurant. Port Davis is a 3 minute drive (20 minute walk) to Centennial Park, host of Ribfest and BorderFest each June.
We are 2 minutes away (a 10 minute walk, or 700 m) to Mitton Village and the Sarnia Farmer's Market, which is open year-round on Wednesday's and Saturday's from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. It's the ideal place to pick up a few treats and groceries during your stay.
Less than 10 minutes to Lake Huron (and sandy Canatara Beach and Park), Starlight Casino in Point Edward, and the Bluewater Bridge and Port Huron, Michigan.
Within 5 minutes of Bluewater Hospital, and 7 minutes to Lambton Mall and Lambton College, home of the OHL team, the Sarnia Sting. One block away from the Pat Stapleton Arena, less than 10 minutes to Clearwater Arena, Point Edward Arena, and the Sarnia Sting Arena (Progressive Auto Sales Arena), and 20 minutes to the Moore Sports Complex, for those travelling for hockey tournaments.

The kitchen is straight ahead from the stairs, stocked with amenities, including a Keurig coffee machine for your convenience, sugar, hot chocolate, as well as an assortment of coffee and tea. The large mini fridge has condiments like mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, butter, maple syrup, and coffee creamers. There are also spices, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and soy sauce. Just bring the rest of your groceries for a home-cooked meal!
The bathroom is to the left, off the kitchen, and features a claw foot tub with caddy for ultimate relaxation. The tub comes equipped with a showerhead for those who prefer showers. You will also find a fresh bar of soap, as well as travel shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. In the event you forgot something, a Forgot Something basket can be found in the middle vanity drawer, with things like toothpaste, a new toothbrush, Q-tips, etc. There is also a hair dryer for your convenience, as well as black washcloths for washing off makeup, and a First Aid Kit.
There are laundromats close by, and pick-up laundry service is available. We recommend London Road Dry Cleaner (5 minute drive, and is also a laundromat). Your Laundry Genie, and Wash & Fold Sarnia are two laundry services that pick up, wash, dry, fold, and return your laundry to you - talk about convenience! Price is usually $2/lb.

Q: How far is the beach away from your rental?
A: The best beach in town - Canatara Park and Beach - is 4 km away (7 minutes by car). Everything at Canatara Park and Beach is public and free to use, incl. parking. Super nice sandy beach and the refreshing blue waters of Lake Huron are inviting you to spend the day here. Food truck at the West end of the paved parking (seasonally). We recommend to bring your own beach gear (beach towel/blanket, umbrella, games, etc).
Q: How far is Downtown Sarnia away from your rental?
A: The listing is right at the edge of Downtown Sarnia, meaning a short walk (750 metres, 10 minute walk) where the downtown core with all restaurants and entertainment is located.
Q: Is your rental in a noisy location?
A: No, not really. The house is located at the edge of Downtown Sarnia in a quiet residential neighbourhood. To the West side of the building is main road (VIdal Street), however the house is constructed in a way (triple thick brick walls and insulation) so that almost no noise enters the house. Also, Sarnia is a small city which means that in the late evening (after 10pm) and at night the traffic almost completely dies off and you won't be disturbed by traffic noises.
Q: I'm an out-of-town worker for the plants. Do you offer long-term stays?
A: Yes, we do offer short-, medium- and long-term stays. The house is very conveniently located to get to and from the plants (near Vidal and Brock St.). Please contact us for specials rates. No taxes for stays longer than 30 days.
Q: I want to book this house for my employees, however I heard third-party bookings are not allowed. How can I still do this?
A: Yes we can accommodate your employees, please clearly indicate your intention to book for someone else.
Q: How large is this apartment?
A: Guests have access to about 740 sq ft of the house. Room heights are between 7 feet. Very generous large rooms.
Q: I booked for 4 guests, but by surprise 13 more friends showed up and had no place to stay for the night. What should I do?
A: Please contact the hosts Robert and Ellan immediately. We do not allow any non-registered guest in our rental for what-ever reason.
Q: Is winter maintenance provided?
A: Yes, for snowfall exceeding two (2) inches the snow is removed from on our property. The public roadways (i.e. streets/alleys) are cleared by the City of Sarnia. At the main entrance we also provide a snow shovel and melting salt for in between snow clearing by guests.
Q: How good is your internet?
A: We have reliable WiFi throughout the apartment. WiFi password is posted on the information sheets throughout the house (hint: use QR code for access)
Q: What kind of taxes do you charge? Are there any exemptions?
A: We are obligated to charge the following taxes: 13% HST on stays 30 days and less PLUS 4% MAT (Sarnia) on stays 30 days and less.
Q: Do you offer discounts?
A: We do believe that our prices are fair for what we offer. Therefore we do not offer additional discounts. We do have discounts for long-term stays: Please keep in mind if you stay at least 31 days you will also save both taxes: 13% HST and 4% MAT!
Q: Are you offering stays less than 30 days?
A: Yes, we are legally licenced Short-Term Accommodation in the City of Sarnia. Licence No. LSA-034
Q: I received a notice for a $500 deposit and I'm asked for my credit card - is this legit? 💳
A: Yes, we are using a professional hosting software and we are putting a hold of $500 on your credit card, similar to a hotel room stay. Given the large size of the house and amenities provided we ask for a $500 deposit. Note: this hold is collected by the credit card processor STRIPE and on behalf of STAYINSARNIA. The hold will be released after 7 days.
Q: Does anyone else lives on premise?
A: Yes, The owners Robert & Ellan live upstairs and are usually available to be available to greet you. You will be notified if they need access to the apartment during your stay for any reason. On the same floor with you is another unit that might be occupied during your stay. Shared spaces are: front yard, driveway, on premise parking, basement entrace, staircase, landing, laundry room. Owner’s private spaces are (access can be arranged): backyard, pool, hot tub, BBQ. Off limit areas: private residence of owner (main floor, 2nd and 3rd floor). NOTE: we have young kids and a friendly dog ("Noah"), so you might hear us walking upstairs, however we try our best to be quiet and respectful as possible.
*PLEASE NOTE*: Garbage collection day is Monday, hence access to the house is needed to set garbage and recycling out on Sunday or early Monday. Housekeeping will arrive at 11am check-out time unless other arrangements are made at the time of booking or with enough advance notice. Sarnia has much to offer from boating to golf to theatre and much more. Visit Tourism Sarnia-Lambton's website for all kinds of info and pictures. We also have a beautiful state of the art theatre attached to the Lambton Mall with fantastic sound and screen. From May 1 to October 31 you can park on city streets in Sarnia overnight just be sure you're on my side of the street (the other side is no parking) the rest of the year you can't park on the street from 2am until 5:30am.
For security I have motion sensitive camera's on the front and rear porches and on the front and rear doors of the house. This protects cars parked in front of the house and garage and of course monitors access to the house.
If you smoke I need to know that in your request to book. If you smoke and do not inform me ahead of time you may be asked to leave with no refund, so do be upfront.

Cozy red brick newly renovated old century home. Im Airbnbing two rooms out so you might (only on occasion) see other Adventurers in the home also.
