The cottage and hot tub are sanitized between each use according to the BC Centre for Disease Control. All linens and towels are washed on the sanitized cycle.

Due to the nature of the terrain, the property is only suited for adults. No pets or smoking on the property please. We provide scent free shower products.

This is an intimate cottage on the ocean. You can fish for salmon and halibut, kayak among seals, mountain bike as far as you like, surf , go whale watching or enjoy a quiet evening in the hot tub or in front of the indoor fireplace.

We have a 1.2 acre south facing property on Sooke Basin, a protected bay off of the Pacific. It's salt water but you'd think that it was a lake. Calm as a mill pond most days. You'll wake to the sounds of ducks, geese, swans, eagles and snorting seals.

We're located in Saseenos which is in a microclimate known to have the sunniest and mildest winters in Canada.

The cottage is set on an oceanfront corner of our property, with the main house set further back and on the other side of a fence. Although this is a shared property, you'll have lots of privacy.

The cottage is suitable for a maximum of 2 adults. The bedroom has a queen bed. The main room consists of a kitchen, dining and living room. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cook, except food. Coffee and tea are provided. There is a dishwasher. The bathroom has a soaker tub and a separate shower. Linens and towels are provided. There is a new private hot tub on the cottage deck on the ocean side. We have a large 220 foot dock and a smaller deck that you are welcome to utilize. There is a rocky beach when it's low tide. The kayaks and lifejackets are available to use. Lots of charters available nearby if you'd like to go whale watching or fishing.

If you like to stay busy, there's lots to do. The Galloping Goose Trail is at the end of our street and is perfect for a morning run, bike ride or hike. The town of Sooke has fabulous restaurants and the nearby beaches are breathtaking.

You'll feel like you're in the middle of nowhere but we're 5 minutes from the town of Sooke where you'll find grocery and liquor stores, Shopper's Drug Mart, banks, Tim Horton's and a variety of other stores/restaurants. Costco and other favorite stores are about 20 minutes away. We're 25 minutes to downtown Victoria.

This is truly paradise. The cabin can be used year round. This specific area of Sooke is known to have milder winters and the summers are often warm and sunny.

The second bedroom, with a queen-size bed, is located on the main floor, along with a full bathroom. A sofa bed in the living room provides additional sleeping space. Seven massive cedar logs serve as pillars, tying the cottage’s design together with architectural charm.

Sliding doors on the main floor open onto a patio and a spacious private lawn, ideal for families with small children and/or pets. The patio includes outdoor seating, a dining table, and a BBQ. A beautifully landscaped garden by the main entrance offers seasonal color throughout the year. The Sunset Trail links the cottage directly to the West Beach access point. The property has a level 2 Flo/EV charging station which was a bonus for our PHEV. The house is brand new - it is well built and so beautiful! The property was very clean, nicely decorated and had all the comforts of home. We enjoyed cooking in the spacious and bright kitchen, and sleeping on very clean and comfortable beds. At sunset, we enjoyed sitting by the kitchen and living room as some of the sun shone through the windows. The heat pump kept us nice and cool inside the house during the heatwave. The owner (Darcie) thought of all the details that guests may need and appreciate (ie. sewing kit, toiletries, snacks, iron, ironing board, first aid kit etc...). She also surprised us by giving us freshly caught salmon during the first night of our stay (her son went fishing earlier in the day). We appreciated her kindness and generosity. Overall, we highly recommend this vacation home to travellers who plan to visit the Sooke area, and we will definitely stay here again in the future."

1 bedroom vacation rental. living room has 42 inch flat screen TV, Telus Optik TV, wi-fi, sofa, love seat and a chaise. The guest suite is located in the lower level of our house.

Our guest suite is also a great starting point for biking as well as mountain biking, kayak tours, zip lining, whale watching, surfing or just a relaxing visit at the spa.
You will have endless opportunities for the best hiking in the world. It is a short drive to explore the area such as spectacular coast hiking in East Sooke Park or breathtaking Mystic Beach. If you want to explore the city of Victoria it is only a 45 min travel by car. Or you can just come to recharge and relax with a great book or a good movie on our cozy couch.
We are here to help you and make your stay unforgettable. You can also book your host for a guided hiking tour so you don't need to worry about anything. We speak fluently English and German. IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE:

Sooke is about a 10 minute drive away and is the last place you can buy groceries and fill your car before arriving at our suite.

We are located just outside of the Canadian mobile phone service range so we recommend putting your phone on flight mode so you don't get pinged with US roaming. We have high speed internet which allows for Wi-fi Calling (on iphones & androids) and we can put a landline in the suite upon request.

During the winter months *(and the occasional windy summer day)* power outages can be common. We hope you understand we are not able to anticipate or resolve these should one occur during your stay. We recommend putting a log on the fire to keep the house warm and taking a drive/walk while waiting for it to come back on. BC Hydro updates their websites frequently and is good at giving an estimated time the power will come back on.

- "Elk Lodge is a rare find. The long driveway leads you to a rural oasis where you can see a variety of farm animals from your new, very well maintained separate house. The vacation house is well away from the main house. Darryl was a great host and fresh farm eggs in the refrigerator was a nice touch. Be sure to ask Darryl to show you the farm animals. Elk and deer were daily visitors in March. The propane fire table was a nice feature allowing you to stay out a bit longer at night and enjoy the stars and the tree frog chorus."

Scarlet Oak is a 1930's country home on the old Kirby Shingle Mill site, nestled under boughs of a Heritage Scartlet Oak tree, amid towering cedars, firs, and Pacific dogwoods. The one+ acre property is known as one of Sooke's beautiful old gardens, and has been featured on the Sooke's Secret Garden tour. A variety of wildlife visits Scarlet Oak, and is a favourite stop over for migrating birds. This is a private gated property on a quiet street, a local bike route steps to the Galloping Goose Trail. Surfing at Jordan River is only 15 min away or skip down to Muir Creek to take in the breathtaking sunsets and fresh ocean air.

The space
We’re located on the South West Coast of Vancouver Island, 12 Km west of Sooke. The moment you step out of your car you will feel a sense of peace and tranquility. Once part of a much larger historic farm, The Farmhouse was built in 1914.

Situated in a forest and farmland setting, the property has a large yard and 2.5 acres to explore. On the property there is also the cottage which was built in 1918 as well as a Tiny Home. All 3 homes have their own space and privacy.

The farmhouse is a fully equipped spacious house with three bedrooms on the upper floor, a fourth bedroom on the main floor and a single pull-out bed in the living room. The upstairs shared bathroom has a large clawfoot tub and there’s heated flooring in all three bathrooms and the kitchen.

The main floor consists of a large modern, open concept kitchen and dining room with beautiful views and a wood stove, cozy living room with enough room for everyone, office space, bathroom with shower, patio off the kitchen with hot tub, bbq and ample seating, as well as a covered front porch.

There is also a laundry room with washer and dryer in the basement.

The nearest beach is Muir Creek Beach about 500 m away. Muir Creek runs into the Straight of Juan da Fuca and the estuary provides a great opportunity for bird and wildlife watching. Canadian Geese, Bald Eagles, Heron, River Otters, Seals...

From here you can look across the Straight to the Olympic Mountains. Whales and Sea Lions are often spotted here.

Farther along the coast are the many beautiful beaches of the area; Gordon Beach, French Beach, China Beach and Botanical Beach at Port Renfrew is a must see at low tide. Surfing at Jordan River is only 15 minutes away and catch the big winter swells at Sombrio Beach 45 minutes away.

The Farm is 1hr 15min drive from Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal and 1hr to Victoria International Airport. It’s 1hr to Victoria and 15 minutes to Sooke for groceries.

There’s many things to do in the area…

Mead tasting at Tugwell Creek Honey Farm, tour the Salt West salt making company, Foggy Mountain Forge and the Sherringham Point Light House are but to name a few.

After all your adventures, stop in at Shirley Delicious for a coffee and some delicious food and treats, the name says it all!

Stoke Wood Fire Pizzeria is just down the road with their authentic Italian style wood fired pizzas- DELICIOUS!! (Open seasonally)

Our fully contained suite is in a beautiful location on Brule Mt surrounded by natural west coast flora and fauna. It is located minutes to the Galloping Goose Trail, the Sooke Potholes and a short hop by car to Sooke centre. A great jumping off point to all the activities the area offers.

The space
Located on an acre of land on Brule Mt, we offer comfortable accommodations in a peaceful, natural woodland garden setting. Surrounding the suite are towering cedars, fir and maples with perennial gardens in the courtyard right outside the entrance.
The suite features a fully equipped kitchen. Free Wifi is available. A self serve light continental breakfast of muffins, coffee, tea and fruit is provided for your first morning with us.
The suite is large, bright and airy; lots of space to relax inside and out. Hiking, biking, fishing, great restaurants and art scene are all just minutes away by car. Truly a West Coast experience at it's best.

My apologies but I am not able to accommodate guests under the age of 12. The suite is not suitable for small children as it is not child proof and the gardens contain numerous plants that could be toxic to the unwary. Thank you for your understanding.

Guest access
There is a separate entrance for our guests through the suite's courtyard perennial gardens. The Guest Parking spot is right beside the gate entrance to the courtyard where the suite is located. The courtyard is for the exclusive use of our guests during their stay. It's a great spot to sit and enjoy the quiet of nature over a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine later in the day!

Other things to note
There is a Queen size cabinet bed in the living room area that is available for a 3rd guest (by request before arrival) at a cost of $15 per night/ 2 night minimum.

If the cabinet bed is required for a 2 person stay, there will be a one time charge of $25 to cover the cost of set up, take down and the extra laundry required.

I do require a request for it's use at the time of booking so I can make sure it is set up before your arrival. It is necessary that it remains folded down during the duration of your stay with us.

There is a down alternative comforter for those with allergies.

Please let me know your requirements upon booking so I can have these items ready upon your arrival.

We have two cats, Bella and Gracie, who, while indoor cats in the main house, do hang out on our front deck which is directly above the living area of the suite. You will probably hear the pitter/ patter of kitty feet on occasion. We also have Maggie, a Mini Australian Shepard in our household. Lots of energy!!

Our animals do not have permitted access to the suite or courtyard but do manage to sneak in there at times while I am cleaning. For those with allergies please be aware that allergens may be transferred between the main house and the suite.

I use scented products in the cleaning of the suite and the laundry. Please be aware of this if you have sensitivities.

We also have chickens up at the top of the property who share the acreage with us. Please feel free to visit them!

There is a washer and dryer available on site available for guests at a cost of $8 per load. Please contact me and I will provide laundry soap. There is also a laundromat in Sooke located beside the McDonald's in the Village Foods mall.

The suite availability is presently restricted to a 5 night maximum.

The suite is equipped with everything you may need for a longer stay. The sofa double bed allows an additional 2 extra sleeping. The neighbourhood is peaceful and quiet and walks away from trails to enjoy early or late walks.
The nightly rate reflect our location as we are not directly on the water but very close to Sooke center. Please consider this when you rate our place after your stay.

Medium stay (2 weeks to 1 month):
- Also for medium stay you will be responsible for the laundry of bed sheets, kitchen and bathroom towels.
- Make sure you wash the bed sheets every week, an extra pair is provided and available in the bedroom closet.
- Make sure you clean the floor regularly. You will find a broomstick and dustpan in the entry closet, and a vacuum in the bedroom closet.

Longer stay (>1 month):
- For longer stay we do not provide bed sheets, kitchen and bathroom towels. If that is an issue please communicate with us and we will see what we can do.
- Make sure you maintain the suite clean. You will find a broomstick and dustpan in the entry closet, and a vacuum in the bedroom closet as well as cleaning products in the bathroom.

Note that incidentals (Soaps, shampoo, detergent, toilet paper etc.) are only provided for the first two weeks.

Sooke Serenity is a 5 min drive from Ella Beach (ocean and sunsets), Sooke Potholes (swimming and hikes) and the Galloping Goose Trails (biking and walking). And if city life is what you are after you are 30-40 minutes from the capital of BC, beautiful Victoria.

Sooke Serenity is ideal for 1-2 persons or a small family of three. For a second little person please please request. If we can accommodate another. There will be an additional person cost. Featuring a private entrance, a spacious open concept with a comfy double bed, a living area with a fold out couch that can sleep two smaller or one larger individual easily, a kitchenette for snacks and reheating, a full bath (shower only), designated office area with the option of a larger desk upon request.

We are dog and cat friendly with pet fee.

There is also Wi-Fi, a TV and guest Netflix/Prime access among other amenities to make your stay enjoyable.

Guest access
Driveway parking on the right for one car makes for easy access via your private entrance. There is further parking on the street.

Please note there are 4 railed steps up to the patio and entrance. The access code for the lock will be provided the day of when the room is ready. Full exterior security.

Other things to note
Our residence is beside the suite so you may hear our family on occasion and our yard is attached to your patio. You are welcome to use the yard if you like. Our extremely friendly golden retriever, Toby, also uses it so do note he may be out and about. He is friendly with other dogs and cats, however, if your dog/cat is not wanting Toby Time, we can secure the side walkway making it only available for his/her use.

We are respectfully and quiet and will always have your privacy and comfort in mind. If we are in the back and you wish to say hello and have a short chat please feel free. We enjoy meeting new people.

For longer stays there is a weekly compulsory cleaning.

We love where we live so feel free to get in touch for great tips on the area, and we can make recommendations for food, nature, spas, etc. Your comfort is very important so do let us know if you feel something is missing. We will try our best to accommodate any reasonable request.

Portable AC is available upon request.
