Pet Policy

The Wrightwood Chalet is pet friendly for 2 pets maximum. We ask guests to pay a $50 pet cleaning fee at reservation. Any additional pets will be considered for an additional $25/pet. Dogs must be crate trained for when the owner is away from the property. Guests MUST notify us prior to their arrival if they are bringing a pet & the breed/size.

The Location

The home is located less than a quarter mile from downtown Wrightwood and 5 miles to Mountain High Resort. The downtown area provides great eateries and entertainment including local shops, brewery, live music on select days, and a local farmer`s market every Friday.

There is an abundance of gorgeous hiking trails perfect for either a quick stroll and a picnic, or more strenuous hikes to epic vistas overlooking the surrounding Angeles National Forest. For travelers looking to explore local Southern California the property is located only an hour and a half from well known beaches. Where else can you ski and surf in the same day?!

The Wrightwood Chalet is located in a small residential neighborhood with close by neighbors. Due to the terrain of the neighborhood, sound is easily carried. We ask that all guests please be respectful of our neighbors. Quiet time for the property is from 9 pm - 9 am. Parties or loud activity will not be tolerated and will be subject to $1000 noise violation plus additional fines issued by San Bernardino County and termination of your stay.

**Due to the mountainous terrain of the cabin, SoCal Edison occasionally has Maintenance Power Outages during periods of expected high wind or other periods of high high fire risk weather. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.**

Our neighborhood is quiet, and mostly inhabited by locals. We welcome guests who want to experience Wrightwood like a local, including respecting quiet hours, parking and respect of wildlife and nature.

Spa maintenance is scheduled every Monday morning/early afternoon. This will occur during your stay if you are here on a Monday.

Please check the weather prior to your stay so you can be properly prepared. We are in an area that can get hot in the summer, very cold in the winter and can experience high winds. We will not issue refunds for weather issues that are out of our control.

When visiting a mountain town, it`s important to be aware that you may encounter various types of insects and bugs due to the natural environment. No refunds will be issued, though we make every effort to manage pest control.

PARKING: We have parking for 3 vehicles in the driveway

NON-SMOKING: $200 FINE FOR EVIDENCE OF SMOKING ANYWHERE ON PROPERTY. We are in a very high fire danger area and also have this rule out of respect for our neighbors.

AIR CONDITIONING: The cabin has central air conditioning, however, the upstairs rooms will get warmer in the summer months. The A/C can only be set as low as 74 degrees, otherwise the pipes can freeze. We recommend opening up windows in the evening and turning on provided fans for circulation of cooler air.

COFFEE: Traditional coffee maker; we provide filters and coffee.

BATHROOMS: It’s very important to only flush your normal business and toilet paper. We have a septic tank and anything else can back up the whole system.

TV: We have a smart TV in the living room and in an upstairs bedroom. You can login to your Netflix, Disney+ and Hulu accounts.

FIREPLACE:
1) Gas key & lighter are located on the mantle
2) Place the gas key into the key hole, located on the ground, to the right of the fireplace
3) Turn the key to the left
4) Use the lighter in the fireplace to start the flame; stand back, as the flame will ignite quickly
5) When done, turn the key to the right and place the key & lighter back into the hutch drawer

BBQ: If the gas grill runs out of propane, let us know ASAP

COMPOST: We have a compost container by the sink and a large one right next to the roll outs outside. Please put your coffee grounds/filters, paper towels, fruit and vegetable scraps, egg shells, bread, etc in the `+` side of the bin and spin! PLEASE, NO DAIRY OR MEAT PRODUCTS.

TRASH/RECYCLING: Roll outs by driveway. Trash pick up Tuesday morning, please roll out to curb Monday night.

FIRE PIT: open side panel facing the neighboring house and inside are the controls. The directions are there for further detail, but you need to hold down the igniter while turning the knob.

HOT TUB instructions:

- When removing the spa cover, please ONLY place it on the rocks in front of the picnic table (it will get covered in dirt if placed elsewhere). This is a 2 person job.

- Please wipe feet and be generally clean before going into the hot tub. If the surrounding mats get dirty, please bring the hose over to rinse feet prior to entry.

- The touch screen control panel has 3 buttons for the jets. Jet 1 has two speeds and can be touched twice. Push arrows up or down to adjust temperature.

- Place the cover back on when the hot tub is not in use.

- If you have any young children with you, they must be supervised in the spa at ALL times. There are keys for the cover on the kitchen hutch if you need to lock the cover.

- Please be respectful of the surrounding full time neighbors and implement quiet outside hours after 9 pm.

- Spa maintenance occurs every Monday in the morning or early afternoon. The team will enter through the back gate and should not disrupt you at all. Please be mindful if you have pets to bring them in.

***Fines will be incurred if additional cleaning services are needed or if we receive noise complaints***

-Please place ALL TRASH in the outside trash bin (outside on the side of the house).

-Refrigerator: If you have perishable food/condiments that are still good and want to leave it for property assistants or compost, you may (we try to avoid waste).

-If toys or games were used, please put them back as you found them.

-If Pack and Play was used, please do not put it away. Leave this out so it can get sanitized by our property assistant.

-If you have pets, please pick up any gifts they may have left behind in the yard!

-Check behind doors and in closets for jackets and clothes that may belong to you.

-Check patios for any personal belongings.

-Check for phone and computer chargers, laptops, purses, stuffed animals, etc.

-If barbecue was used, please clean the grill with the grill brush and close the lid.

-Lock up! Place the key back into the lockbox.

SNOW ETIQUETTE:
Chain control: 4x4 and All Wheel Drive vehicles must have mud and snow or snow tires and carry chains for access in snowy weather.

Parking and trespassing violations: Many locations on the mountain are private property and violators trespassing onto private property may be cited or arrested.

Trash: the public is reminded to take out what they bring in, including trash. Please if you pack it in, pack it out!

Weather hazards: Snow and rain increase hazardous driving conditions, so please exercise additional care when driving on slippery or iced over roadways.

- "The property offers an area for your pet, porches on the back and front with plenty of outdoor seating. There is a Level 1 electric vehicle outlet (120volt) available that we used to add some mileage to our car. The interior of the cabin was immaculate, with a well-thought-out decor that made us feel right at home. The cabin includes a top-notch kitchen where you could cook anything you can imagine. High-speed internet WIFI and a large screen smart tv provided us with excellent entertainment. We were concerned about the heat since our stay was in July, but were pleasantly surprised by the air conditioning system and 2 ceiling fans along with 2 portable fans that kept us cool throughout our stay. The bathroom was spotless with everything necessary. Sleeping quarters were perfect, with plenty of pillows and very comfortable beds. The living room and eating quarters provided us with plenty of seating with pillows and blankets. We also found the spiral staircase to be much easier to use than a standard stair case-which was nice for us seniors. We loved the Sparrows Nest and our host Melissa was the best! We will be back."

Wood burning stove and gas heating. This is one of the sweetest chalets in town, pricing may be slightly higher than other listings, but you will not be disappointed! Now with high-speed internet and streaming channels!

Walking distance from the taverns and bistros of cozy downtown Wrightwood, Casa Vaquero is the perfect getaway. It can be a ski chalet or a writer's retreat. We bought this when we were in our 20's (a long time ago) and we have rebuilt it to be a beautiful and solid cabin. Elevation is at 6100ft.

We have recently installed high speed internet and a 48" Roku TV with streaming channels and a selection of DVD/VHS for both film buffs and families (Note: There is generally good mobile service at the cabin, and fun coffee shops & pubs in town with wi-fi and live music at times). Lots of board games and books to savor if you get snowed in!

A perfect getaway set in a beautiful and relaxing mountain location. Our light filled home is over 3,000 sq. ft. and located on a quiet cul-de-sac surrounded by pine trees which makes it an ideal retreat for couples, families & friends. It has all the mountain amenities but WITHOUT the long and winding mountain drive. Only 77 miles from Los Angeles and Orange County. As an four season town, Wrightwood has it all; skiing, hiking, shops & restaurants.

Quiet Room:
Gas fireplace, extra deep sofas, coffee table and desk. Ideal location for remote working.

Game Room:

Other things to note
-Please DO NOT wear your shoes inside the home. We want to keep the home as clean as possible for our guest. Being in the mountain, there will be mud, snow, tree sap, and other things that can stain floor and carpet. You may place your shoes inside the mudroom/laundry room or outside of the house. The floor is real hardwood and not waterproof so please quickly wipe any spills.

-NO SMOKING OR VAPING ON PROPERTY. Any evidence of smoking on property (inside and outside) will result in loss of your security deposit.

-NO PETS are allowed on or inside the property.

-Parking is limited to 3 cars in the driveway.

-Quiet hours starts at 9pm. It's also our neighbors that make our home a wonderful place to stay. Please respect them and the neighborhood.

-We have a very strict NO parties policy.

-There is a Ring Doorbell camera located outside the front door. There is outdoor camera in front of the garage looking out onto the driveway.

The space
Arrival
​​Stunning 3,664 square foot traditional home. A blend of vintage and modern with magnificent mountain views and 8,563 square foot lot! It has heating for winter. Stay cool with open windows and ceiling fans. A two car garage. Plenty of driveway parking on the side of the house, enough for RV parking too.

Prior to your arrival, we will have sent your unique code to self check-in using the smart-lock. This code is only valid during the duration of your stay. Please do not return after check-out. This is designated time for the cleaners.

Living Room 1
The living space has wood ceilings, cozy fireplace, big fur rug, large cognac leather sofa, moroccan poufs, adjustable wall tv, mid-century modern style recliner chair with ottoman.

Living Room 2
A large velvet green and gold sofa, large fireplace, geometric rug and artwork, and knit poufs.

Kitchen and Dining
Bar seating for 2 so you can chat with the chef or wait for someone to make you some hot or cold beverages. There are two dining rooms, a 4 seater and 6 seater with modern lighting fixtures. There is a coffee maker and teapot to enjoy while looking out the windows at the mountains where you may see blue jays, chipmunks or hummingbirds some early mornings and evenings. You have double ovens great for cooking for a large family or friends. There is a wine refrigerator in the basement.

Backyard and Jacuzzi

Primary 1
Get in touch with your spirit animal. This is the bobcat room for some big cat energy.
Enjoy a king size black platform bed, soft and cozy sherpa accent chairs, gold and black side tables and ambiance lighting. A large black bookshelf with books for a relaxing read. A ceiling fan for the warm summers. Neutral colors of black and white.

A modern shower with black hardware to rinse away a day's hike or ski and a large vintage bathtub to do a little self care. Two vanities with sink and large mirrors to prep for the day. A walk-in closet to hang or store your favorite clothes, shoes and luggage.

Primary 2
In the den you can hibernate like a big bear. A blue velvet and gold frame king bed makes you feel like you are glamping. Enjoy the large wood artwork and modern pendant hanging light fixtures for some late night reading or mood lighting. This room has its own toilet with vanity, mirror and sink.

Bedroom 3
For the free spirit who loves to have the wind blow in their hair riding horses or motorcycles. A rich green velvet and wood full size bed with a gold side table.

Bedroom 4
You are such a deer friend. Enjoy this queen size warm wood spindle bed with mint color box style side tables. There is a built-in desk for working. When you wake up and see this view you will want to stay in bed all day. It is gorgeous.

Bedroom 5
Stay trashy or just hoard some snacks in the raccoon room. Enjoy this full size gray and wood bed with wall mounted black side shelves. There is a built-in desk for working. This room has spectacular mountain views.

Bathroom 3
Toilet, mirror and sink on the way to the laundry room and garage on the main floor near bedroom 3.

Bathroom 4
Located on the top floor near bedroom 4 and 5 has a shower and bath. There is a double sink with mirrors and wall mounted vanity.

Game Room
You have a movie projector where you can use the giant white wall in the basement game room to have a vintage cinema style experience from the comfort of the black velvet sofa with coffee table. There are two additional black stools. There are plenty of games. A foosball table, air hockey table, and pool table. A Nintendo video game console, Jenga, and Uno. Also, a wine refrigerator.

We are NOT a party house.
Quiet hours: 8pm-8am. No amplified sound anytime. Our neighbors can hear you. No unauthorized guests without written approval, day or night.

Other things to note
Our very friendly and considerate mountain neighbors moved to Wrightwood to enjoy nature peacefully and quietly. We know that you’re visiting to do the same. Please be respectful by reducing noise outside before 8am and after 10pm, otherwise move inside.

The county law bans any amplified sound day or night so leave your portable speakers at home.

There are security cameras on the exterior of the home. They are there for your security and safety as well as deliveries.

NO DRONES. NO FILMING. NO COMMERCIAL USE.
All weekend stays must include Friday & Saturday night. Holiday weekends must include Friday – Monday.
