Guest Reviews:

- "Our family stayed at the float home and had a really nice time. The hosts assistant (Kris) was super nice and responsive. The directions to get in were easy, the place was clean, and we slept 4 pretty comfortably. Little tight, but we were expecting that. The only noteworthy item is that there is a separate flat upstairs that has a separate family…this was in the listing but we missed it so be aware. We got lucky with our neighbors. Overall neighborhood felt very safe and it was fun watching the boats. We had a seal mom and pup that would swim by every evening once the sun went down which was quite entertaining for us. Overall great experience!"

Our girls (7 & 10) shared the pullout couch and we didn't feel cramped at all! Marilyse & Mike live in the unit upstairs, but we barely knew they were there at all. And they were instantly helpful every time we had a question. The unit is an easy 10 minute walk to/from Lonsdale Quay and the Seabus, so getting around Vancouver is a breeze! “The float house was above and beyond all vacation rentals we have ever stayed in. It is perfect for a couples get away or to explore Vancouver. Had all the amenities you will need and was a quick walk and seabus away from downtown. Loved the heated floors. You will not be disappointed picking Sylvie & Don's float house.”

“We never write a review - however this place was over the top!!! Beautiful - Luxurious - Spotless - Relaxing - Cozy - Friendly by both the hosts & neighbours - Safe & Secure - easy access to the city Dream Vacation Place!!”

“I have stayed in a lot of vacation rentals but this house takes the cake for the best vacation rental. The house is so nice and perfect I kinda can’t believe they rent it out. It is the cleanest place I have ever stayed. Not a spot of dirt or dust or even a crumb in a drawer. Spotless! The location is awesome. Very easy to walk to the SeaBus. The views of the mountains, marina, and city while sitting on the patio are second to none. In addition to cleanliness, the place was also VERY well stocked. Tons of spices for cooking as well as tools, utensils, gorgeous china, etc. The kitchen is top notch and will have everything you need. I also loved the home speaker system that allowed you to airplay from your device to any room in the house. They covered everything with meticulous detail in the guest info book. Everything about the place is meticulously thought out.”

“I travel a ton and love unique vacation rentals but this one tops them all! View, walkability, decor, amenities, communication, spotless and warm. We truly didn’t want to leave.”

Guest Reviews:

- "The property and location were perfect! No issues whatsoever were experienced, with hassle free check in, hassle free car parking and a wonderfully equipped property. The kitchen had everything you could wish for and all top branded appliances. We loved the views from the terrace balcony and the lovely artwork/internal decor. This was far better than many 5 star hotels we have stayed in. The location is quiet, yet you are only a 5 minute walk to the sea bus into Downtown to Vancouver. The area is extremely safe and friendly , with so many restaurants and bars nearby. Joeys and the Tap Barrel both done great food with fantastic views towards downtown, lovely at night. We have stayed many times in Vancouver and BC, but this has to be our favourite place so far. The experience of living on a floating home, sadly only for 5 days, was one we will cherish and this will be our first choice when we return. Also, the hosts were super responsive when we had a couple of questions. All in all, an utter joy."

Vancouver 2 bedroom
Boat Rental
New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada

A great getaway to visit the city but feel like your in the country. This boat is so fun for families and friends to enjoy their vacation. Centrally located , 20 minutes to the airport, 25 minutes right downtown. 2 blocks to the bus and easy access to skytrain. There is alot more to this area than downtown. Twenty minutes to the USA, 20 minutes to Whiterock and Crescent Beach, 20 minute to Richmond Steveston and Fishermans Wharf. Welcome to the historical area of Queensborough Peninsula, We have just moved to a new Marina only 150 Metres east but very quiet with only 5 boats. We can no longer hear the sawmill. The space is very private as you have the entire boat to enjoy. Everyone loves the surrounding wildlife especially our famous Swan couple. So friendly you can feed them out of your hand. They will definitely visit a few times a day.
Another great treat could be catching a giant Sturgeon right off our dock. This 2 bedroom /1 bath unique stay has very comfortable beds and a big screen TV with Netflix and cable in the Master Stateroom. There is also a great view of the River as you lie in bed. It also has a regular house size shower in its own separate room. I have also installed a large hot water tank for those long hot showers. The second room is kind of a bunk the kids love it, but don't worry its easy access even for the big kids, then you can fall asleep under the stars and wake up to a glistening river waters at your feet. In the evenings enjoy a tasty BBQ then a dip in the hot tub and watch the beautiful view as the sun sets over the calm Fraser . Cool in the summer and cozy in the winter. A great stay anytime of the year. My favorite thing is having my hot coffee on the front deck watching the array of birds wake up and start their day. Its such a peaceful time. You will love staying here because we are located in the heart of the Lower Mainland and it is literally 20 minutes in all directions to something great. There is a great path from here along the river , at the east end you can take a little ferry boat to New Westminster Key a local tourist attraction. I am the only houseboat on the River for short term rental in the area and you would definitely enjoy the different , kind of adventurous yet peaceful stay. With the hottub to die for and BBQ sizzling your steak life cant get any better.

Guest Reviews:

- "Fantastic stay. Well appointed and of course so great to be on the water. One windy day was particularly nice and it’s true the ducks are friendly. Nice surprise was meeting the big orange dock cat too. Thank you." - "We loved our stay on Lee's houseboat! We wanted a different experience than a standard house and this delivered; our favorite elements were watching life on the river and the hot tub at night with mood lighting." - "This was such a unique experience and we will be back. If you ever want to just get away to something a little off the beaten path but still close enough for local restaurants, the houseboat was a great experience. We loved the table and sitting area on the upper deck and were able to play games and hang out and talk while looking out over the water. The hot tub was an awesome addition and we named the beautiful swan Frank...lol...such a great experience. Thank you for everything. <3"

Guest Reviews:

- "We had an awesome time at this very special home. The house is very new construction, furnished with amazng art, and spottlessly cleaned. It has amazing side views of Vancouver from the porch. The kitchen is simply a dream. It is well appointed with top of the line appliances, and every cooking tool or piece of equipment you could EVER wish for. The native themed artwork was majestic, and well thought out. The shades are very cool. They can provide full blocking, or have open space at the top or bottom. Comletely customizable. There is a cool motorized shade for the sun in the afternoons on the porch. The master bed has separate controls, and each person can tilt their head or foot to desired position independantly - and it even vibrated if desired. The marina is serene during the day and night. No raucous party docks here. The chic wall fireplace is gas, and remote controlled. The master bathroom is huge, you could easily fit the entire soccer team in the shower. This was far more elegant and appointed than many VRBO's. It is not furnished like a rental, this is a prized home filled with family memories and special possessions. Location is awesome for accessing the wilds of Whistler, Squamish, and Brittannia beach. Access to points south always involved heavy traffic getting across the water. Things to consider regarding mobility. The parking lot is constantly full, we had to park 100 meters away from gates on several occasions. The parking lot is a long way from the house, maybe 150 meters. The docks are wide, stable, concrete structures, but the tides raise and lower the docks and house as much as 4 meters daily. This causes the ramp slope to be mild to extreme from the parking lots to the water depending on the tide. There is no protection from the elements on the docks, so the trek from you car can require rain gear for the long walk. N. Vancouverseems to be making the turn from industrial to retail rapidly, but the restaurant selections were not as varied as Vancouver proper. The movement of the house at times was unsettling. If you have motion sickness issues on boats, this property is not for you. We have owned and glamped on sailboats, but still felt moderate effects from the waters motion. The house (at times)bobs 4+ inches up and down all day long with winds. I could not imagine a storm being completely pleasant. The feeling of movement followed us off the boat. Overall, this house was AMAZING. 5 STARS"

* Sailor's View * Floating Home Ocean Retreat
Boat Rental
North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Reviewed as "the Four Seasons on the water," and by a NASA astronaut as "the best Airbnb ...on earth," Sailor's View float home is one of the most unique & luxurious vacation rentals in Vancouver. Dine under the vaulted beamed ceiling in the grand room, touch the water from the bedroom windows, and relax & drink around the cozy patio fire table, with incredible post card views of downtown Vancouver. All near great dining, shopping and transit. This isn't waterfront, it's water-ON! #Flotel

I will often check you in personally, or provide you with the access code for key-less entry.

The Lower Lonsdale area of North Vancouver is a vibrant waterfront community with lots of restaurants, coffee shops, and amenities, and just a short Seabus ride across the inlet to Downtown Vancouver and the Skytrain system to access YVR and the rest of the metro Vancouver area.

Guests will have access to the entire house, as well the docks of the marina to explore.

I could not be more proud to invite you to experience Sailor's View, our luxury floating home along the protected coastal Pacific Ocean waters in North Vancouver, looking out across the harbour at the downtown Vancouver skyline. The idea for this came after my mother and I watched an HGTV show where designer Joanna Gaines transformed a float home, and we become obsessed with them. My mom's many thoughtful decor and gardening touches are evident throughout the home.

We'd love to have you follow us on social media FB/Insta: @SailorsView #Floatel

We bought this float home from the original owner & builder Doug, and his wife Jewel, which is why I still affectionately call Sailor's View, "the Jewel of Vancouver." In addition to the many wonderful things said about it by guests, HGTV has featured Sailor's View, and Curiocity (lifestyle, entertainment, travel blog/website/Insta) featured Sailor's View and called it "The Ultimate Staycation."

HIGHLIGHTS
Each area of the floating home has a unique charm. The patio balcony is where it's at to enjoy the incredible downtown Vancouver city view, while sitting around the fire table. Inside, the exposed beams in the vaulted ceiling make for the perfect open-air space to cook, dine, or just relax around the fireplace and watch TV. The luxurious steam shower in the master bathroom is an added treat, as are the downstairs heated floors under your feat. Retire to either of two spacious bedrooms: the primary having ocean and city views for days and both a picture frame TV and an electric fireplace to set the mood! Even in the winter, there is no cozier place to get away from the everyday, and watch rain drops hit the water from around the living room gas fireplace. It's the perfect setting to read a book or catch up on life.

SLEEPING
-2 in the king bed in the primary bedroom (main/lower level)
-2 in the queen bed in the secondary bedroom (main/lower level)
-2 in the queen sofa bed in the living room (upper level)
-1 on a twin/single sized blow-up mattress w/built in electric pump (which you'll set up on the upper level, if needed)

EXTRA TOUCHES
These thoughtful touches will make your stay:
-Stainless steel Keurig coffee maker to start your day off right. I also provide a French press.
-High-end appliances (induction cook top and stove, and an ice maker in the fridge) and a well-stocked kitchen for cooking just about anything.
-All pillows and mattresses have a high-quality protector/encasement underneath the sheet set. The main beds have both an encasement and a top protector, in addition to the sheets.
-Wireless phone chargers on each side table in the bedrooms - no looking around for the outlet, just lay your phone down on the pad before you sleep. Another 6 port wireless charging station upstairs in the living room for all other guests and devices.
-Samsung Frame TVs (55" upstairs and 43" bedroom) with 4K cable (many Airbnb's do not have regular cable).
-Surround sound speakers you can connect your phone to and play music throughout the whole house, including downstairs in the primary bed and bathroom.
-Hair dyers in each bathroom if that saves some room in your travel bag.
-My detailed guidebook (sent to you digitally after booking and printed in the home) will help you plan your trip and get the most out of your stay.
-High quality air conditioners upstairs and in the primary bedroom during the summer months, plus Dyson fans in each bedroom. The ocean is the best air conditioner, with the cool sea breeze doing most of the work to keep the home the right temperature, and making it reliably comfortable in all seasons.

LOCATION
Being on the water in North Vancouver is an amazing experience. You can easily arrive from YVR Airport on transit (Skytrain, and then across the water on the "Seabus" from downtown to the North Vancouvers side), and we are a short walk from there. It is easy to get back over to downtown anytime for activites like Stanley Park and Granville Island, or concerts and hockey games. The advantage of being on the North Shore, is the closer proximity to the Capilano Suspension Bridge, Grouse Mountain (or any of the local ski mountains), Lynn Canyon, Deep Cove, Lonsdale Quay & the Shipyards entertainment district, and West Vancouver. Park Royal Shopping Center in West Van, one of the Vancouver area's best malls, is also on this side of the water.

WORKING REMOTE
For people needing to work during their stay, or just to keep in touch over video calls (or all the social media posts from the patio!), we have Telus Fibre Optic high speed internet (yes on the dock!) with a booster, so that internet use is fast and consistent whether you are sitting out on the patio, on the laptop in bed downstairs, or doing a video call at the workstation or kitchen island.

BOATING: In the summer months or with enough notice (or sometimes last minute), I offer my guests a discount on my top-rated yacht tour experience, if you'd like to see the city by water, or spend a day dining on one of Vancouver's nearby islands. I am a fully licensed and Transport Canada certified charter captain. If booking for the summer months I would advised booking well in advance as the dates fill up very quick through other travel agencies, boat tour companies, and the hotels that use my service. This is an extra service, billed through Airbnb's online payment system.

LIVE MUSIC ADD-ON
Some people have also booked me to perform live music for them on the balcony for various special occasions or just for the atmosphere. My music website is available on request, I play a mix of country, classic and 90’s rock, and some pop hits. Availability and pricing vary by date, and also billed through Airbnb's credit card service.

HISTORY
The Spirit Trail Ocean homes community was completed by individual owners over several years during the 2010s. The project was led by the Squamish Nation. The Creek Marina, though located on the North Shore/North Vancouver, is part of the Squamish Nation territory, and they could not be more gracious hosts. This home was completed and built in 2014 by realtor Doug as mentioned. As he was living in the float home next door during the new build, he was able to incorporate many extra and unique features others had not thought of, such as enlarging the deck, moving window locations to capture the best views, add working roofline windows, fireplace bump outs rather than it encroaching inside the living room, and bringing over an ornate metal gate from Spain for the stair railings. It is one of the largest float homes in the marina and is like no other, largely because of his expertise.

WATCH THE BUILD PROCESS
Float homes in this marina have been featured in the British TV series “My Floating Home.” Unfortunately, I can no longer post links directly in this description, but to see how these homes were built or learn more, just search and watch any of these three videos to get excited for your stay:

-“My floating home S1E2” (Aaron and Heather)"
-"My Floating Home (UK) S01 - Ep04 Vancouver and Canada's West Coast"
(this is full episode, but its mirrored horizontally for some reason)
-"Maritime-Inspired Two Storey Floating Home | My Floating Home"

NOTABLE GUESTS
-NASA Astronaut Paul Richards, International Space Station shuttle mission STS-102*
-Paul Langlois, guitarist for The Tragically Hip
-Aaron Pritchett, Canadian country artist

*Apparently the International Space Station was a slightly more memorable Airbnb, but we were a close second, and best on Earth at least :) We'll take it!

DOORBELL CAMERA: I have a doorbell security camera at the front entry door which only views the marina dock outside my unit (just as there are security cameras around the marina, in addition to 24 hour security personnel), to assists guests in connecting with me if needed, and discourage parties.

Thank you for reading through and considering us for you next adventure! Reach out to me for any questions and we look forward to having you stay.

Sailor's View is impressively located centrally near the Lower Lonsdale are of North Vancouver. Follow the Spirit Trail less than 5 minutes to the Sea Bus which takes you to Downtown Vancouver, from the Lonsdale Quay. The "Quay" is a central transit hub that connects to YVR International Airport, and the entire region of the Lower Mainland of Vancouver. Of course, there is a secure gated parking lot with 24 hour security for your vehicle, for getting around by car. The parking lot is right at the top of the ramp and first dock from the home.

Guest Reviews:

- "Beautiful home, great host. Literally thought of everything you might need. Great area with lots of good restaurants and bars and just a short ferry ride to downtown Vancouver. Would 100% recommend." - "We had such a great time at this property. Commensurate host, spotless and clean, and what a view of the water and the city skyline! " - "We were thrilled with our stay at Sailor's View. The location and view are truly amazing. The house is well maintained, very comfortable and the amenities are excellent. Dave quickly responded to any questions and check-in/out was a breeze. We used the sea bus several times to quickly get to downtown Vancouver (15 mins) and the terminal is only about a 5 min walk from the house. There are lots of great restaurants, coffee houses, unique stores, bars and groceries within walking distance too. Highlights from our trip included a family of otters on the nearby dock one morning, watching the sunset with the gas fire pit on, and a sea plane day trip to Victoria on Vancouver Island (not cheap but a bucket list item!)"

Other things to note:

Marina living is a very unique experience. The float homes are nestled close to each other and because of that excessive noise, loud parties or large gatherings are not an option.
As well, E-TEN is a float home, so it sits on a body of water, which means there is some ongoing movement to the house, sometimes a bit more during big weather events or king tides. Something to keep in mind if you are prone to motion sickness.
Please note that due to insurance requirements the booking party has to be over the age of 25.

Guest Reviews:

- "Best location for attending an event at BC Place or Roger’s Stadium. Host was very responsive to our requests. Water taxi to Granville Island right next door. So nice our large group could all visit together. Wouldn’t have had the same experience staying in a hotel and dining in a restaurant. " - "Very private property with a beautiful view." - "If you have a group of 8-10, are looking for a unique alternative to downtown hotels, and have a sense of adventure, this is a great option for you. VERY close to BC Place, Rogers Arena & Cirque de Soleil. Boat is at the end of the marina with stellar unobstructed views of the water and skyline. Fantastic, wide open common spaces for conversations/games/meals. Downsides include: 1) you'll need to bundle up in the common areas during colder months (private rooms are quite toasty); 2) you'll need to space out showers as hot water is in short supply; 3) the plumbing is boat plumbing, so quite finicky; and 4) overall cleanliness is fair to partly cloudy. If you go into this remembering this is a boat and not a swanky hotel, you can save money on your stay, enjoy your stay with a large group of friends, and have a great story to tell. We stayed 2 nights for a Bruce Springsteen concert and to experience the city, and left with smiles on our faces. "

The host was super easy to contact and helpful! There is is next door assistance for anything that may come up. " - "Provide two separate sleeping areas, a small and very basic kitchen and adequate bathroom. Some noise from lumber mill across the river and trains, but not much after 11 pm."

- "We were excited to be staying on a boat as something different. The boat is old, moldy and 2 small space heaters did not manage to keep it warm. For the money this was a terrible experience. Communication was non existent when booked and then incorrect access instructions on the day of arrival. Would not recommend. Would have tried to cancel the second night for a refund but this was too difficult with our time commitments. 2 nights in a cold bed breathing in mold and a door that had no way of locking leaving us feel vulnerable"

* Sailor's View * Floating Home Ocean Retreat
Boat Rental
Vancouver

Reviewed as "the Four Seasons on the water," and by a NASA astronaut as "the best Airbnb ...on earth," Sailor's View float home is one of the most unique & luxurious vacation rentals in Vancouver. Dine under the vaulted beamed ceiling in the grand room, touch the water from the bedroom windows, and relax & drink around the cozy patio fire table, with incredible post card views of downtown Vancouver. All near great dining, shopping and transit. This isn't waterfront, it's water-ON! #Flotel

The space

Guest access
Guests will have access to the entire house, as well the docks of the marina to explore.

Other things to note
PARKING
Parking is $20 per day at the 24 hour patrolled and gated (at night) marina parking lot, which is right up the ramp to our dock. There is a cost because this is on the waterfront, but you have unlimited in and out privileges to come and go as you please, and your vehicle should be well looked after. There is free street parking a few blocks away if you can find it. Most of my guests choose to use the parking lot. If you are staying two weeks or longer, I can register your licence plate for free parking in the marina!
