Not too much has been changed, just bettered. The pool area has been rebuilt, and my ensuite was modern and new, but the room retained a slightly old fashioned feel which I thought was charming. It has a very chilled atmosphere, and decent WiFi throughout, so you can sit in the lounge and watch Netflix on your tablet, or out at the pool. You can run a tab at the bar (a nice touch), and the only slightly negative comment is about the restaurant. Friendly service, lovely setting but by offering a limited provincial menu - served on unheated plates, - we thought it disappointing. But I still really enjoyed two nights there and would happily have stayed for longer. :-)"

The apartment smelled of urine. The quality of the furniture was pitiful. Hard foam, couch was so old and worn they covered it with a sheet, the bed mattress was as hard as a board. The AC had never been hooked up and with the 82 degree days and humidity it was impossible to stay. We left and called the owner and he knew enough English to say "you don't need air conditioning - its not even hot". The rest of our frustrating conversation was him saying "no speak English" over and over. I hung up the phone and we found somewhere else to stay. Tried to contact VBRO and we were told to go back in and take pictures of the non working AC but that was impossible since we had already left the apartment, returned the keys to the woman who met us there. The whole experience was scary, frustrating, and so disappointing. I feel like VBRO should have been much more helpful."

- "This apartment did exactly what it said on the tin ! Nice views from terrace, cross the road & on the beach, nice quiet area and we found the whole experience fantastic. Even when the A/C/Heating broke down, we rang the key holder, reported it and within 5 mins an engineer turned up ! It turned out the fault was to do with the building control & needed a part so, half an hour later, the key holder made a special trip to deliver us a mobile heater ! Within a day or 2 the problem with the main control was fixed - brilliant service ! Amazing sea views from terrace - enjoyed breakfasts watching sunrises ! We would have deducted half a star rating because there was no internet and it was a fair stroll into town but, in the end, the quality of the apartment and the service we received from the owners, made these issues unimportant - was actually nice to not to think about emails, web sites etc..and we got used to doing a part beach/part road walk to town & back anyway! Overall - great week had and looking forward to revisiting !"

- "We rented this house with 8 students, sharing the rooms. The house was very clean and the owners left some drinks for us in the fridge. The three showers and kitchen are in great shape. The living room was large enough for 8 and has a nice sound installation. The closest beach is a 5 minute walk but the nicer beaches are about a 20 minutes walking distance. The town itself is nice, touristic, and there were nice festivals on the beach and in the town during san antonio and san juan. Only downside was the lack of a good internet connection. We stayed there for a month and loved the house, the owner is friendly too. All in all i would recommend this house if you are staying in carboneras"

Casa Ana is a beautiful house that stands in the village of Carboneras in Almeria. Carboneras is located on the Mediterranean Sea. Casa Ana is a 60 year old beach house that has been modified in 2014 to modern times without losing the original Spanish atmosphere. There are two brand new bathrooms and a new modern well equipped kitchen.
The house is right on the beach. Only a small dirt road separates the front yard of the beach. The house is detached and has a front and rear garden with palms, hibiscus and a big ficus that summer provides enough shade to eat outside during the day.
The house is 220 m and has 2 floors. Downstairs is a kitchen, a dining room and a bedroom and bathroom. Upstairs are three bedrooms, a bathroom and a living room with a fantastic view of the Mediterranean. There is a shed with beach chairs, fishing poles, soccer etc. are.
The house is on the edge of the village and is within walking distance (5 minutes) from the small boulevard, where a few fish restaurants and bars are.

Basically, the house can accommodate 8 persons. Downstairs is a bedroom with a double bed.
On the upper floor there is a bedroom with a double bed and 2 bedrooms with 2 single beds. There is a second living room with a terrace where you can look out over the sea.

For the first visit to the area, the most advisable thing is to visit the Natural Park of Cabo de Gata, The ideal is to do it when it is not very hot, in that case it is better to lie on one of its beaches.
