This is the fourth time we've stayed here, and we will continue staying here whenever possible!"

This little gem is in the heart of Portage Lake, which is on the chain of 7 lakes. Fully updated recently, I wanted to make people feel like they were really at home with personal touches, vintage items and inviting cozy family friendly spaces.
Lake access is 500 feet from the cottage. We are also within walking distance (4 min.) of a pizzeria, village store/liquor store, brewery & cider house and ice cream shop. 3 minute drive, 10 minute walk, to the boat launch.

Property is tucked off the road with a shared driveway. Semi-private back and side yard is perfect for some corn hole or just sitting at the outdoor furniture socializing. Front of house has a new wrought iron rocking bench, just like grandma use to have. Inside is a cozy cottage that has everything you need and more to make some great memories. Use the sunroom for some cards or board games or head to the well stocked kitchen to whip up some family favorites. Bedrooms have top of the line linens and pillows. Master has reading lights on each side. Bunkbeds each have their own personal light and USB mounted on the post so there is no fighting over plug space or blocks. :)

I also provide a few starter items until you are able to get to the grocery. There are coffee pods, sugar and powdered creamer to get you going on your first morning. There are also a few laundry pods, fabric softener sheets and bleach if you need them. Cleaning disinfectant, paper towels, vacuum cleaner, broom, dustpan and laundry basket are also provided if needed. It was a lovely place to sit and visit, with a nicely appointed kitchen. The lake was beautiful on Tuesday night but unfortunately it rained Wednesday and was too cool for swimming. Instead we got delicious ice cream at NautiMI. Definitely recommend this cabin!"

15yo ranch w/finished basement, large rec room w/wet bar & over head projector. Fully furnished Basement suite. Plenty of parking in the circular driveway, w/access to the kitchen, living room, dining room, grill, laundry.

Bedroom suite contains Queen bed, Dresser, TV, Mirror, lamp & walk in closet. There is another queen bed, a couch and a love seat in the rec room for an extra couple guests and if you have an air mattress, there is plenty of floor space for all your friends!
The space
The house itself is out in the country, a few miles south of the Village. You can almost see the neighbors houses, depending on how many leaves are in the trees!

The entire basement is about 1700sf with a wet bar, projector for DVD’s and a fairly well stocked kitchenette ( no stove in the basement, but you can use the kitchen upstairs if you want).
Guest access
Even though I reside here on the ground floor, you will have access to whatever you need. There's a wet bar in the basement with a fridge and microwave, but you are welcome to use the kitchen upstairs. I have all the standard kitchen equipment, almost anything you could ask for. Relax and watch a DVD on the 12 foot Projector downstairs or use the 50" TV in your bedroom for Dish Network. Free Laundry is upstairs. Gas grill on the back patio on standby for whoever wants to use them, and can be warmed up within a few minutes.

Internet access available, speeds depend on the weather, though!

I have 3 dogs, which I will keep separate from you. I have a fenced in back yard to keep them separate from your pets and there are baby gates in the house. With that in mind, your pets are always welcome, provided you clean up after any unexpected accidents!
Other things to note.

Your pets are welcome, as long as you can clean up after them, in case they get so excited that they have a little accident!

I have a few pets myself, but they are all pretty friendly. Storm is a 8yo 20# blind Jack Russell/pit mix, who barks at everyone including me, but warms up to you pretty quickly. I recently adopted twin boy Corgi/Rottie mixes 18mo old Thor and Loki, saved them from a shelter.

4yo Mr. Cutie is my tiger stripe cat, and he doesn’t really care about me, so he probably won't even socialize with you, if you even see him! Don't be offended!

Two goldfish-Mustache and Nemo- don’t worry about them…they stay in their tank most of the time. And then Shelly the snail is a new addition to the tank.

<3 miles from a grocery store, the post office, 2 pizza joints, a bar, a pharmacy, 2 gas stations, a hardware store, a salon, and a barber shop.

Big Wolf Lake and Little Wolf Lake are just a few miles South of the house and Grass Lake is just a few miles North of the house.

- "This was my second time staying at Matthew's and I must say he really outdid himself! He was very accommodating when dealing with an issue beyond his control (power outage). He sourced a generator in a matter of hours and even made a trip to town to purchase a special cord. Now onto the property... it's great! The rental area consists of a spacious open basement with a small private bedroom (with a closet bigger than some NYC apartments), huge bar/kitchenette, cozy living room and workspace area, an extra bed perfect for movie time snuggles and modern bathroom with lots of towels and even fuzzy robes. There is a projection screen and movies abound for a rainy day. I didn't get to use it but I'm sure Matthew picked out some good flicks for his guests. The pièce de résistance is the hot tub, a high tech super soaking experience! With enough dexterity, you could orchestrate your own Pink Floyd light show in the bubbles. I can't not mention the doggos! Have you ever seen a rottweiler/corgi mix pup? There's two of them! The dogs barked a bit, but it didn't affect our stay one bit. 10/10! We'd love to visit again!"

Relax in our clean, private, bright & spacious one-bedroom apartment/guest suite, attached to but completely separate from our house, with it's own private deck and entrance. Vaulted ceilings, skylights, full kitchen w/dishwasher, full bath, washer/dryer, in a quiet yet close-to-town setting. Nature all around. **Guests must drive on approximately 1.5 miles of unpaved road to get here!**

We visited in June and there was some rainy days resulting in some ruts and potholes along the way. Take it slow, allow for a few extra minutes, watch for deer (we saw several) and it was not an issue. It was so nice to be a short drive from both groceries and our early morning trips to the ice rink."

This cozy townhouse is located in the heart of Grass Lake near Jackson and Ann Arbor, MI. Walk or bike to Missy's Little Grass Shack for the coldest beer in town and a burger or enjoy a sandwich at Jam's Deli. Nearby at the county park there is a public boat launch, playground, pavilion with grills and swimming/fishing in the lake. Guests can take a leisurely walk there or enjoy the provided bicycles (2).

Welcome to Yurt at Waterloo! (formerly Yurt at Havenswood) Very peaceful and private Yurt in the heart of the Waterloo Recreation Area Grass Lake, Michigan. This 16' Yurt sits on a 12 acre wooded lot. Perfect way to get the camping experience without being on top of your neighbors. You will not find a quieter place with so many great things to do within 10 minutes.
We are surrounded by hundreds of miles of trails in the Waterloo Conservation area. Maps provided. There is a trail head on our street a few hundred feet from the yurt. You will have a private driveway and parking area. Plenty of privacy for campfire nights and deck lounging while enjoying the sounds of nature. You will not find more private camping and serenity!
The yurt sleeps a maximum of 4 adults, with twin size bunk beds and a full size futon. The 8 foot picnic table compliments the fire pit with grilling grate. Rustic outdoor living at its finest. Very clean outhouse near Yurt.
Private drive and parking
We completely respect the needs and desires of our guests. We are available if ever they need anything, but we have also done our best to create a totally private environment.
We are in the center of so many popular Michigan hot spots. We are 30 minutes west of Ann Arbor and 45 minutes south of Lansing. We are 15 minutes east of downtown Jackson, and just minutes from the quaint downtown of Grass Lake.
As far as our Neighborhood goes, we are in the Waterloo Preservation Area. Surrounded by hundreds of miles of hiking, running and biking trails. The Portage Lake Campground is only 5 minutes away with lots of options for swimming, boating, fishing, disc golf and other outdoor type festivities, along with a beach and private showers during season.
There is also the small Welch Lake less than .5 miles away that is fantastic for fishing, small boat, and kayaking. Kayaks and trailer provided for a fee.

As dog lovers, we welcome you to bring up to 2 furry friends! BUT... common courtesy is a must. This includes picking up waste (bags provided) and not leaving them unattended in Yurt. If you have dogs over 50 lbs, contact owner for possible exceptions. Both of our dogs are over 50 lbs, so we get it... :)

We are also less than 10 minutes away from the Sandhill Crane Winery which has beautiful views, live music, and great wine and food.

We DO NOT have electricity or running water. If running water is needed, please ask. We do have battery powered lighting and lanterns, but guests encouraged to bring their own. We provide clean sheets and bedding on the mattresses. Drinking water provided. Trash bags provided.

- "Wow is all I can say about our trip to the yurt! We had such a wonderful time and mase so many amazing memories with our kids! The yurt is exactly as described. It had a futon and 2 bunk beds, perfect for my husband 2 kids and I. The space was clean and all we needed for the long weekend. We love rustic camping ( no running water or electricity) so this was perfect for us. We cooked over the fire for all our meals. There is a cooking grate over the fire which was helpful. There was plenty of seating around the stone fire pit. If you want the sound of nature and isolation this is for you! At night when all the lanterns are off you are in total darkness which we though was cool! There is a string of battery powered lights around the inside of the yurt which we liked at night which is basically like the light of the moon. Tons of things to do in the area. Lots of canoe liveries about 35-55 minutes away. Easy to get to for a day trip! Lastly our hosts were beyond easy to get a hold of and were very helpful through the booking as well as the entire trip! Highly recommended this property! We hope to stay again!"

Welcome to RoJo's Riverside Retreat, where there are so many things for you to do! The home has two bedrooms, with a queen size bed in each. There is one bathroom. The kitchen is fully equipped for all your cooking needs. The living room has a gas fireplace to keep you warm and cozy.

We are renting out the upper level of our house/duplex. We live in the lower unit. Each unit has private, separate entry. The patio overlooks the beautiful Huron River in Dexter. The house is located just half a block to the historic Dexter Cider Mill(seasonal). It is just a short walk (1/4 mile) to downtown Dexter for coffee, brew pubs, restaurants, and shops. The Encore Theater is wonderful venue for musical theater lovers to take in a show. The house is just 8.5 miles from the University of Michigan Stadium.

Explore the beautiful Huron River, bring your canoe, kayak, paddle board, or tube. Skips Livery is also available to provide you with a relaxing day on the river. Enjoy a bonfire, and take in the spectacular view! The Border to Border (B2B) Trail is just a short walk or bike ride away.

Private subdivision beach across from front yard is for Fox Point Beach Association Members and their guests only. This home sits on 1 1/2 lots providing spacious front and back yards for your family and friends to entertain. We offer many extras that others do not.
Per Michigan Laws-We do not rent dock space and dock space is not available for overnight mooring. Boat rentals can be procured via the local marina. In home fireplace is available for use, but we do not guarantee availability of firewood. You are free to purchase/procure firewood from any local vendor if you desire. (Please-ABSOLUTELY NO PINE WOOD TO BE USED IN HOME)

There is well water in the cottage. All of the homes in this area have well water due to the lakes. We do have a reverse osmosis system for drinking. There is some bottled water provided.
The dirt road next to the house can be busy on weekends. The road by the house is the only road to the island across the river.

Outside you will find tons of space as the home sits on a rare to find double lakefront lot with over 75 feet of lakefront. Enjoy kayaks (2 adult, 1 child), a dock, a sea wall, a firepit, Adirondack chairs and lounge chairs for guest use. The water directly off the sea wall and dock is shallow for hundreds of yards in front of the cottage making it ideal for playing, lounging and splashing on a hot summer day!

The first floor consists of a kitchen, living room, dining room, sun room, bedroom (with two twin beds), a full bathroom (toilet, shower, pedestal sink and mirror), and a laundry room (washer/dryer).

The kitchen has a french door refrigerator, gas stove/oven, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, coffee maker, cooking utensils, silverware, plates, cups, bowls, and all the items you need to cook a memorable meal. The kitchen island is large and has room to seat 4 comfortably. A grill is located on the patio facing the lake that can be used for cooking (grilling utensils are in the kitchen).

The living room has a couch, television, small coffee table and media cabinet.

The Sunroom has a couch that pulls out into a queen bed (Sleeps 2).

The dining room has a table and chairs for 4.

The second floor consists of a master suite including a queen bed, dresser, desk and half bath (with toilet and sink/vanity).

Please note: the home is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. There is one step down from the parking area to get to the house. There are 2 steps up to get inside the home from both the front and back doors and there is a staircase inside the home to get to the second floor. Outside there is a step down from land to get onto the dock and to get into the water from the dock there is a ladder down into the water at the end of the dock.

Your morning coffee or tea will amaze you. We supply a Keurig coffee maker, toaster & blender, together with everything else you will need to make breakfast or a big dinner. The home has Central Air/Heat and plenty of hot water. The Master bedroom has a king-size bed and private bathroom with double sinks and walk in shower. Second bedroom has a Queen size pull out sofa bed that has an adjustable firmness setting. Not your ordinary lumpy sofa bed, so much more. Second bedroom also has direct access to a private bathroom or shared with common area, (your choice) with a single sink and walk-in shower. All towels and linens supplied. Four people can be very comfortable in our lakeside home on Portage Lake. See you soon!

Blue Door Guest House is designed to be a place where very tired people can come and rest. The Camino de Santiago is a special place for us and this guest house is our version of a pilgrim’s albergue.

Something unique about our place - Blue Door Guest House was built and finished with inordinate amounts of sweat, love, intention and GIRL POWER! All are welcome, AND if you identify as female, know that this place has special juice and love for you. If you're in a point in your life where you need to do some overdue soul-searching, reconnect, mourn, regroup, get your mojo back, plan your exit strategy, connect with your Higher Power, sink into silence, start a new thing, remember yourself, hang with a beloved, be by yourself...this place was created especially for you and your journey.

BDGH is a tiny house that's been conceived, finished and decorated with an eye toward Latin America and with a high value placed on beauty, handiwork, rest, privacy, solitude. It's located on a centennial farm in a still-rural setting. There are many personal touches designed to make your stay in our semi-rustic space as comfortable as possible - memory foam mattresses, delicious linens, AC, ceiling fan, overflowing bookshelves, good pillows, lots of natural light, roomy three-season outdoor shower, a cozy place to sit and write while contemplating nature, mini fridge with a freezer big enough for ice cream, a wood burning stove.

*This is a semi-rustic environment. If you are used to staying in hotels and require that level of amenities and comfort, we might not be a good fit for you.

While the house has electricity and hot water from an on-demand sink, there is no indoor shower. The compost toilet is housed in its own room and is virtually odorless. You will probably empty the toilet bucket at some point during your stay. Gloves are provided.

The private outdoor shower is available in the spring, summer and autumn. You’ll need to turn water and propane on in order for it to work. It is not functional after the first frost, when we turn the water off to avoid damaging pipes. During winter months, showers are available in the guest bath of the main house and are easily arranged. We also have passes to the local gym available.

Firewood is provided at no extra charge for bonfires and the wood stove. A propane grill and utensils are also provided. There are long metal grilling skewers for hot dogs/sausages/marshmallows over a bonfire.

All linens are provided.

*The guest house has a kitchenette that is equipped with a microwave and fridge, but no stove top or oven. We have an induction burner and pots/pans available by request.
