I decided to keep with a theme and stay at Oaklawn Inn, since it was also built by Andrew Tainter the same year as the theater. I was warmly welcomed by the innkeeper, Stephanie. She shared a wealth of information about the history of the property and the Menomonie area in general. My accommodations (the gold room) were outstanding. I felt as though I had been transported back to the 1890s but with modern amenities and comfort. The next morning, Stephanie prepared a delicious breakfast for me, and we had another chat about history. She was very respectful of my time and didn't want to burden me with too many details. I assured her that I appreciated all this information and welcomed more. Stephanie explained all the restoration that she had done to the property. Her attention to detail is impressive. I highly recommend a stay at Oaklawn Inn for anyone visiting Menomonie or anyone interested in the history of our state. You won't be disappointed! "
