Location, location, location. This two bedroom house is situated on Lake Minocqua and is mere blocks from downtown! While close to the heart of the city, the cabin has scenic views, lake access and is backed by a large wooded area (so it would not be a surprise to see a family of deer during your stay). You are within minutes of many of the local restaurants, bars as well as retail shops. It is also walking distance to the local beach and water sports rentals.

"Lincoln's Lakeside" has been outfitted with rustic style furnishings to bring you right into the coziness and charm of the Northwoods. The living room features a fireplace as well as large windows that look directly out into Schoolhouse Bay. You also have lake views from both bedrooms. You can be on Lake Minocqua in seconds as your private dock is just steps away (directly across the road). After a day out on the water or around town, wind down on the large lake view patio which features a grill and fire pit with outdoor seating and lighting. This house is versatile and can accommodate parties as large as six, whether looking for a family retreat, fishing trip, golf weekend or getaway with friends. An air conditioner will be installed for the summer of 2021 and beyond. Additionally for your comfort, each room has a fan and screened windows that open.

- "Clean cabin, friendly/responsive owner, excellent location near downtown Minocqua and chain of lakes!" - "This was a perfect home for our family of 4. The property was very clean and had everything we needed. The backside of the home is on a dead end road which was nice for our kids to play outside. The dock is close to the boat landing so it was super easy to get our boat in and out and to go park our truck right back behind the house before we left on the boat. The view was amazing and we enjoyed sitting on the front porch having our morning coffee. We even had a little chipmunk visitor. There were also deer behind the home and we were lucky enough to see a doe and her two fawn. Check in was super easy and the host was very helpful and responded immediately to my questions. We loved our time there and we would definitely stay again. Thank you to our hosts!"

Some of the best public hunting lands in the state are found in Oneida County. You can find deer, bear, wild turkey, and small game. Local guides are available. The Minocqua area is the hub of the Northwoods. It features supper clubs, shopping, cafes, ice cream stands, outfitters, real lumberjack shows, the oldest amateur ski show, museums, and gaming.

The Minocqua Chain of Lakes consisting of over 5800 acres. Where fishers can try their luck catching northern pike, muskellunge, or large and smallmouth bass, as well as several species of panfish.

This is the one and only guest cottage on our property, which we adore but are rarely able to visit. As such, it gives you access to a very private dock, a comfortably furnished screened gazebo, three kayaks, a lakeside fire pit, a smart TV and other toys we're happy to share.

Built in the '90s, the cottage is bright, cozy and modern. It's an open layout, with no interior walls except around the spacious bathroom. You'll have access to WI-FI, Roku, a gas fireplace, a microwave, a patio with outdoor seating, and all the normal amenities.

But by far the biggest selling point is the generous stretch of lakefront (166 ft.) you'll find here for your private enjoyment. Just sitting in one of the comfy chairs on the dock and watching the eagles, herons, loons, otters, ducks and other wildlife go by... It's hard to put into words how glorious this little corner of the world can be. The level frontage and sandy shoreline afford easy lakefront access to anyone who might have trouble with more than a step or two.

Our favorite spot is the screened gazebo we added in 2021, which provides a shady spot to read or snooze during the day and a bug-free outdoor space at night.

If boating is part of your plan, the dock can easily handle your fishing or pontoon boat. With 1,100 acres of water, the Shishebogama/Gunlock lake chain is great for fishing, cocktail-cruising, sailing and kayaking. (We like to kayak from our place to the Black Bear Bar.)

While the cottage is only about a third of a mile north of HWY 70 (and 6.5 miles west of downtown Minocqua), there is very little drive-by traffic on this horseshoe drive. It's a residential neighborhood with no other rental units that we know of. We have year-round residents living on both sides of us. So this is most definitely NOT a party place. It's important to us that our guests act like good neighbors and respect the rights of others.

PLEASE NOTE: The minimum stay during 2025 peak season (June 13 to September 5) is seven nights, usually running Friday to Friday. Before and after those dates, there is a three-night minimum stay.

If all this sounds appealing, we would love to have you stay at the Loon's Nest. We predict that if you do, you'll come back again and again.

- "This is the loveliest rental we have ever had, very tastefully decorated and supplied with all the essentials one would need (except bring your own towels). The cabin is larger than it seems in the photos, the yard is park-like, and the gazebo — well, it’s just wonderful. The boat is very leaky, though, so be prepared for that. I think the place is better suited for couples than for families, as kids couldn’t have their own room(s), there’d be little room to play indoors, and there isn’t a beach. The location is ideal — central to everything “up north” has to offer. Finally, while internet and cell phone service were great, we were not able to get our Netflix code to work (perhaps that has to do with Netflix’s recent crackdown on sharing codes?), but we could find things to watch on YouTube and the Roku channel. We appreciated excellent communication with the owner, and the thorough notebook to read upon arrival. Thank you!"
